We booked The Brasserie for our New Years Eve meal and had our confirmation through all ready for the big night. However, we got there and there was not a soul in sight! They must have had an event on and had shut the restaurant without updating their booking system and the Opentable register. It was completely closed and ruined our plans for the evening. We ended up having to go back to our hotel room and order food in. Really shocked that an establishment such as this could make such an error - something so simple to prevent. We were embarrassed and left with highly underwhelming NYE - please don't let this happen to anyone again!

Chair pulled out but not offered; the house Pinot Grigio unbelievably ran out which for a quality restaurant shouldn't happen. I hadn't been to the Brasserie for a while but had always rated it as one of the best places to eat locally. After a morning with a group of friends enjoying the spa facilities eight women went in for lunch. We ordered the now obligatory prosecco and a bottle of white wine. "What would we like madam?" The waiter asked my friend. Prosecco dutifully poured. "What would we like madam?" I was asked. To which I replied with the emphasis on the first word "I would like prosecco please..". The waiter was tall and young but his attitude was old fashioned and superior with an underlying condescension you do not see that often and his use of the plural very bizarre. We had all eaten there often and I found his attitude rather insulting. We chose from the festive menu of two courses for £27. I ordered a salad of wood roast Heritage beetroot, glazed walnuts, winter leaves, Brinkworth Blue dressing. Most underwhelming and I found the walnuts too sweet and the whole salad lacking in dressing and flavour. Everyone else seemed happy with their choices. My main course was Roast fillet of Cornish haddock, winter vegetable ‘ratatouille’, Parmesan and saffron risotto fritters. Except that it wasn't. The fish was nicely cooked but sitting on what I guess must have been the winter vegetable ratatouille which consisted on undercooked or virtually raw cubes of some sort of squash or swede - difficult to tell as it had such little flavour apart from a cloying sweet tomato sauce. The risotto fritters were much better except again I would not have described them as fritters but rather as risotto balls. They were fine - nothing amazing but perfectly nice though lacking in seasoning. I would have sent mine back - four of us had the same dish and we were all disappointed by how undercooked the I do not usually eat pudding but the others seemed happy with the choices. And again, disappointment. Four orders of tarte Tatin with cinnamon ice cream was nothing like tarte tatin as one of my friends (Italian and an incredibly good pastry cook) pointed out to the waiter. A small whole baked apple sitting in a nest of pastry with the edge of the pastry slightly caramelised. So a deconstructed tarte tatin perhaps? That is being kind. The apples were undercooked and hard, the pastry soggy and the whole pretty inedible. The cinnamon ice cream was good though according to the diners. At that point I felt I had to say something - the restaurant has a good reputation, is expensive and usually good but I felt this laziness and complacency had to be challenged. I called the waiter over who apologised slightly (a different waiter, young and adequate but not that good) and scooped up the plates of uneaten food. We hadn't asked for that and we had to call himback over to say that we did not want replacement puddings. The waiter came back and instead of apologising properly as he should, he informed us that the chef said that the apples were perhaps harder than usual. Not much of an admission of fault and no recognition of the fact that this was not a tarte tatin. The waiter was not experienced or perhaps knowledgeable enough in his response and the offer to take the cost of the puddings off the bill rather missed the point. What was lacking was any understanding of the kitchen being in the wrong. At that point I said that he should inform the chef that the winter vegetables were all undercooked too. I was very kindly being taken to lunch for my birthday so I was not paying for the meal but that doesn't make any difference. Three of our party are members of the Spa and had invited the others as their guests for a pre-Christmas treat so the disappointing meal slightly marred our day. The standard in the Brasserie had really slipped - perhaps we were just unlucky but I did it think it was not good enough. All of us eat in very good restaurants worldwide, and many if us are very good cooks ourselves and understand food. Buck your ideas up Brasserie - there is a poor enough choice of places to eat locally so please raise your standards both in the kitchen and front of house. We had a far better experience on Saturday night at a local gastropub (The Old House at Home in Burton) where the atmosphere, food and staff were all good and the food surprisingly delicious. They could certainly teach the Brasserie a thing or two about good service.

The weekend before last I went to Lucknam Park for my godmother's birthday lunch. When we arrived we waited in the sunny lounge and enjoyed pre lunch cocktails and appetizers along with our order being taken. Afterwards we were shown to our table and enjoyed amazing salads/soup.These were followed by 2 portions of the Chateaubriand. To say it was good would be a HUGE understatement. It was amazing; perfectly cooked (one medium-rare, the other well done). The chips were tasty and crispy. We had a New Zealand Sauvignon blanc to accompany the meal that was surprisingly not dry.We finished with desert rounding out a great experience.Word of caution, this does come at a price, but well worth it.

Just returned from a meal with friends who wanted to treat us to something special. As i had been to Lucknam on many times previously(not in the last year) i said this is the place. Unfortunately i was very disappointed. The starters were nothing out of the ordinary. Having had the scotch egg in the past i recommended this. It was just plonked in a dish with salad leaves. For main I chose 'iberico pork', now i have had this in Spain and this pork chop i was given was nowhere near the quality and three times the price. My friend had the fish pie and was overwhelmed by the size of dish which was basically all mash potato,1 prawn and few pieces of overcooked fish. The friends that were treating us were happy enough with their dishes a steak and chicken....who can go wrong with those dishes. Nothing on the dessert menu was tempting, I have had brulees and chocolate fondants here beore! Oh and the cutlery....who has ever had to complain about the cutlery? It was impossible to hold, on enquiry to the staff they said they had had many complaints! In summary....overpriced gastro pub food.

We have eaten at the Brasserie several times before so were looking forward to Mother’s Day lunch. Unfortunately both the service and food were not great.Set lunch was £35 a head with three choices per course. Unfortunately none were particularly suitable for children (its Mother’s Day so obviously lots of families!) - we asked for a burger, but they’d run out. The roast beef had a tiny amount of sauce – when we asked for more sauce / gravy we were told the kitchen had again run out and couldn’t make any more – “It would be just hot water”. Really?! The vegetarian main course was particularly disappointing, just a piece of roasted cauliflower and unflavoured couscous. I had fish starter and main which were both fine. The Maître D was excellent, friendly and professional but the waiter assigned to our group I can only assume was relatively new, as he didn’t seem to understand when we asked for anything (such as a child-friendly meal or gravy) and didn’t apologise when he spilt food on one of the group. When we came to split the bill he was unable to subtract £120 from £280I hope this was a one-off and they improve to their previous excellent standards. One of the group has contacted Lucknam to give feedback on our meal but to date no acknowledgement or reply.

The Brasserie is in a modern building at the rear of the hotel. It has large picture windows looking out onto the garden and has a very open feeling. It is attractive in mid-winter and would be even better in mid-summer. It is used by people using the Spa as well as those coming specifically for lunch. Thus there are quite a lot of people in dressing gowns which detracts somewhat from the ambiance. The lunch menu is well balanced and excellent value for money. The food is very good (particularly the Wiltshire beef) and the service is discrete and effective.

Excellent reception on arrival and managed to sit close to the log fire, before moving to our table. Great menu choice and we started with foie gras and scotch egg. Best scotch egg ever, forget the supermarket variety. Then my Daughter and I decided to share a Chateaubriand. Cooked best at medium rare it melted in the mouth. Other guests looked as though they were drooling when it was brought to our table. Likewise we were similar on seeing the size of the house pie. Thats for next time. Desserts were creme brulee and churros. Both a real treat. Service excellent, not too attentive, just right from friendly chatty staff. An excellent dining atmosphere in a very modern building. We have eaten here on a number of occasions but our most recent visit was for lunch with members of our family in the period between Christmas and New Year. The Brasserie is an informal dining area where people who have used the Lucknam Park Spa can eat whilst still wearing their bathrobes and slippers. However, the light and airy room and the quality of the furniture and fittings make it a very pleasant venue for non-Spa users too. The staff were friendly and welcoming, service was prompt and helpful, special dietary requirements did not cause any difficulties, and the food was very good. Because of the timing of our visit, we were able to select from the Christmas menu as well as the standard lunch menu. The meal was excellent value for money, the helpings were a good size, and there seemed to be a number of options for younger family members who preferred the recognisable choices of beefburgers, etc to the more sophisticated meals for adults. We will be back again soon!

We had lunch at the brasserie. If you are vegetarian I would avoid this restaurant, they do not cater for you. Their choice of vegetarian meals amounts to two! This is poor. What we found even more amazing is that people are allowed to dine in bathrobes!!!!The restaurant is next to the spa, but I think that people who go to the spa and want to eat should be restricted to the lounge area by the reception. This restaurant attracts lots of diners, even children, It cannot be healthy having people half dressed eating in a smart restaurant, especially when there is an alternative area. We had a family come in and sit on the table next to ours. The smell from the oils etc. is not particularly nice when one is trying to eat food.

Having had some lovely meals here in the past, I booked a table for a friends meet-up & looked forward to another enjoyable meal.Unfortunately the experience did not live up to expectations. On arrival no one offered to take our coats, our waitress could not understand our drinks order - the word gin was a mystery & when we asked about their brands she pointed to the bottles behind the bar. Our drinks then arrived, minus the gin! When our starters arrived we found the terrine portions very small & thinly sliced. Fish portions on the mains were equally mean - I was served a slice of cod???A request for more information on the wines got shrugs, no sommelier or a staff member with knowledge of the list. The bottle we chose turned out to be very thin, my comment to this effect got another shrug. Staff members checked that the food was fine but we had to ask for our glasses to be topped up. We decided to cut our loses at this point & then found that they proposed to charge us just £1.50 less for a 2 course option. All in all an uncomfortable & slightly embarrassing experience as I had told my friends that we would have a great meal & would be worth the trip from the city.

Well I was really looking forward to eating lunch here with some good local friends and what a disappointment the visit was. From the start and waitress that we couldn't not understand and neither could she understand us - not a great start. However heading to our table and pursuing the menu things looked up, we all opted for starter and main. I opted for scotch eggs followed by venison faggots with red cabbage, parsnips and potatoes purée. The started was good. I enjoyed the cooked to perfection egg yolk, a golden orange and succulent pheasant meat case. A good start for me. The terrines my friends choose however was tasty but very mean in portion. A theme that continued into the main dishes, one of my friends portions of fish was so mean it was barely bigger than a fish finger! The faggots I chose were a real disappointment, dry, rather tasteless and again rather mean is potion size. I guess that version is just not a meat that lends itself to becoming a faggot. The vegetable accompaniments were OK, but nothing special. We opted to avoid desert or coffee, took the bill, had to query the prices, have bill reduced. Overall a throughly disappointing experience, I shall not be rushing back anytime soon.

The location is still superb and the attention of the staff cannot be faulted but the actual food was disappointing - the portions meagre and the flavour underwhelming. We had a family celebration a few years ago and everything was excellent - it is still an excellent location which combines adult enjoyment with freedom for young children. We were there with our sons and five grandchildren for a golden wedding celebration, but the actual food on the set menu was not good - if I had not known from the menu that the starter was dyck's leg I would hardly have guessed. The main course of coq au vin was tastier but very sparse and the dessert was very small and undistinguished. And my wife and I are very opposed to restaurants that provide over large portions.. Such a pity because it's a lovely location which we much enjoy and the staff were very considerate and prompt in service

We went for lunch and had the set menu. Each of the courses was tasty but the portions were very small, and I left still hungry. Perhaps, being adjacent to the spa and gym, this is part of the "healthy" ethos. However it isn't cheap and I felt I had not received good value. The building is modern and well designed, with eating outside possible in fine weather. The wider surroundings are beautiful and deserve a walk around before you leave. One complaint - common to us all - is the cutlery, particularly the forks, which are oddly shaped and swivel round in the hand as you eat. Irritating! Nit-picking I know, but when paying this money we're entitled to.

After lunch we spent a couple of hours at the hotel playing croquet and wandering the grounds. A lovely spot to spend the day.

Visited for our 17th wedding anniversary, the staff are all fantastic, and they catered for me very well. I have a wheat, gluten fruit and nut allergy and they made it so easy. The steak was cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed our evening thank you

Had lunch here yesterday Sunday 1st Mar and it was very good. The Brasserie is set within a walled garden in a picturesque park landscape ...enchanting. Just the place for a special meal. But as the prices are not exorbitant, any excuse will do to lunch there. The menu is well thought out with good choice. It is also refreshing to find such well balanced deserts. It was good to have a creme b rule that did not come up in a ramekin. This one was in a shallow dish without any temperature gradient... amongst the best I've tasted. We shall be back very soon

We dined at the Park restaurant for a special occasion. We were treated to canapés before lunch in a ante room also used for afternoon tea. The surrounding views and the room itself were stunning. Having chosen our lunch we were ushered into the amazingly beautiful dining room. The starters were excellent. Two of our guests had a main of roast beef and trimmings, however this turned out to be a great disappointment. The roast beef was cool and it didn't help the plates were not pre warmed. The beef itself was a thick slab with all the top fat messily attached. The meat was not succulent. The Yorkshire pudding was enormous and looked impressive. However it was cold and dry. One of our guests follows a strict gluten free diet and was told the chef would be able to accommodate. It meant he had roast beef without the Yorkshire pudding! Deserts were lovely.Overall experience pleasant but not to be repeated.

About seven miles east of Bath but well worth a trip. Lucknam Park hotel and spa is a truly wonderful experience. The hotel has two restaurants. The Park which is one Michelin star and really very formal and expensive. However the Brasserie is within the spa complex is very relaxed and offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had lunch here on Tuesday and the food is outstanding. A starter of ravioli filled with poached salmon on a bed of roasted fennel, with spinach and cream and truffle sauce. To follow boeuf bourguignon with cream potatoes, delightful and to finish, warm banana tarte tatin with coconut sorbet and dark chocolate ice-cream. £21 for three courses. The quality of the cooking is always consistent and the menu changes frequently. In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in the area and not to be missed. 10/10 Lucknam Park.

I have eaten in the main restaurant in the hotel before and that was the full Michelin Star experience. So my main problem was that this was a lot way short of that. I'd still fancied a posh night out but this was more of a family restaurant feel with plenty casual dressers and everyone but us off for an early night. The food was good but not terribly memorable, and the waiters were fine without being fantastically knowledgeable and attentive. The dinner wasn't cheap but obviously less than the main restaurant, and with the location some way out of town I would suggest that there are much better options in Bath, Bristol or at some of the local cozy gastro pubs.

We originally thought this was a French Brasserie, but found this was not really the case. It is attached to the Royal Hotel in Bath, it you don’t have to be a resident to book a table here. However, the menu had much to our liking and didn’t disappoint. The starters we had were very tasty, lentil and bacon soup with chestnuts for hubby , and smoked mackerel pate for me with a nice variety of bread provided by the lovely waitress , who was managing every table on her own.very admirably. For mains hubby had chicken mixed grill and I had a rare sirloin, both with chunky chips, everything cooked perfectly. Although we were offered a sweet menu neither of us could take advantage of sampling the offerings. A very reasonable restaurant which we would certainly recommend eating at

Wonderful welcome from Rafa, superb knowledge of the cheeses we had and the champagne was delicious with the cheese. Special occasion and this fabulous restaurant fitted the occasion. Will most certainly be making a return soon. Thankyou Rafa and co x
