Brilliant food - always a great visit.
Update December 2023, still great food and service!
Update September 2024, still great food and service! I particularly think their efforts to hide a door on the side for Deliveroo/Uber Eats drivers is a nice touch and maintains the atmosphere in the restaurant.
Update February 2025: this place will always be great 👍🏻
Another great lunch at the Weyside; had another delicious roast - a Sunday favourite. We’re weekly regulars and can attest to both quality of food, location and customer service.
Couple of pints prior to viewing ‘Anora’ at the local Odeon.
Extremely busy for a Wednesday - many well-mannered Students enjoying themselves.
Staff were working their ‘posteriors off’, unquestionably, but seemed extremely serious indeed.
Pub is generally well-maintained, but the seating area to the RHS of the main front doors (opposite the Tesco express) were really quite tatty and dirty - since I last came here. Ripped cushions and mud on quite a few of them.
Drinks, as always, well priced.

Don't cook the chicken properly and quite often missing items They are literally the WORST even the ones at the motorway services can get it right useless is an understatement
Worse food I have ever had the chicken is soggy feels like they have washed it in water before cooking! I had a chicken chow man and have woken up with the most worse belly on earth with explosive direara I repeat DO NOT EAT HERE
Had a meal on Valentine's 2025. Friendly staff, nice place and live music. Sadly all 3 courses of food were very poor. Had to return the spicy king prawns as bread burnt and when it was returned the prawns were good but bread soggy. My wife had a guazzetto with white fish. Fish good but guazzetto was a very very thin gravy with potatoes and peas but it was described as seafood. Dish very salty so not finished. Sri Lankan veg curry tasteless so not finished. Had a side dish included with a red mixture which was supposed to add heat. Also tasteless and not hot at all. I was given some sea bream with an orange colored sauce which was appreciated but thin bream and strange sauce. My wife had a tart tatin that had a solid base no other pastry but apple ok. Staff good as we didn't have to pay for the food. Drinks and atmosphere very good but price high for poor food. I wonder if all the other food reviews are genuine. We eat out a lot in different towns and types of restaurant but can't comment on the meat as we don't eat it.
Sports Bar with a great atmosphere and remarkably good pizza. At first look, it's not obvious that it offers food and, whilst it's not a large menu, the quality of the food is excellent.
We had a great Friday night - thank you to the team!
Food arrived 1 hour late. Usually the quality is great however this time it was overcooked, cold and the portions much smaller than usual. I requested money back but my request was refused. Very disappointing from Tiffins. I will now think twice about returning.
I ordered a 6” meatball marinara subway with caramelised onions and bacon added on.
I was expecting to pay 40-60p for anything extra. They charged me £1.60 for the onions and 60p for the bacon, which they neglected to inform me of the cost.
Then, I asked what drink comes with the meal deal so many times, they mentioned cold drinks. I asked about a hot chocolate (it’s cold and late) they make the hot chocolate then tell me it’s not a part of the meal deal! So I asked if I could have a Dr Pepper then? And then they told me that’s not a part of the meal deal either!
So… I gave up on the meal deal and having a drink at all because we were getting no where.
I still can not tell you what drink I could have had. No idea.
They must do better, honestly.
And why the hell are cooked onions more than twice the cost of bacon?? It’s a tiny bit of them too… non sense.
This restaurant - rather surprisingly given its captive audience - stands on its own merits and delivers very well presented and tasty dining. Highlights were a delightful roasted cauliflower soup with minced chestnut and herb oil, and a most stupendous dessert. I'm not a dessert person but the two courses we had had were so well executed we were encouraged to stretch our waistbands to a third. The black forest style chocolate mousse was a delightful assembly involving orange zest, fresh mint, dark chocolate ganache with pistachios, and sour cherries which was as easy on the eye as it was delicious. The service was friendly, pacing of courses good for a treat lunch, not rushed.
