We came here to watch the rugby but left pretty quickly. Dirty toilets and rude bar staff, when asked why the beer is being served in plastic cups, we were told that only regulars get glass. One way to ensure that I don't become a regular I suppose

Owner was great. His staff were rude and arrogant. Left feeling let down and embarrassed by the level of service.

Awful service 2 hours for some nachos, will never return rude bar workers who weren’t helpful at all. Anyone who wishes to come hear would advise trying an alternative pub that will show great service!

I usually like this pub but had an abysmal experience yesterday. I ordered food and it never arrived. I asked 3 members of staff and every time they said it’s ‘on its way’. An hour and a half later I asked the bar manager and his attitude was awful - he told me my friends must have eaten my food (their food already arrived an hour beforehand) and to ‘leave a TripAdvisor review if I wanted.’ So here I am. I can’t remember ever leaving a negative review, especially on a pub I usually like. Everyone I was with (including over 5 regulars) told me the Aussie bar manager was a nightmare and eluded to the fact that he might be drunk because he drinks behind the bar all the time. He was drinking. It’s made me feel pretty distraught and I’m gutted that went down at a place I used to consider a decent boozer.

Crap pub only seem to be interested in sport no food staff unhelpful. They judge u as if they think they own the pub. Oh dear we had a miserable experience.

As Guildford's premiere "rugby pub" not a place to expect fine dining, but they do have a great pizza! I don't eat meat on pizzas so just asked if they could a spicy veggie and got a very impressive return. Great atmosphere, good selection of beers ( and few good ales, if that is your thing) fast friendly staff.

The staff are friendly enough and it’s a fairly central location. I went in with two friends and asked for 2 pints of ale and a lager. When they barman gave me my change from a £20 note (about £2.50 in change), I told him he must have made a mistake because beer isn’t that expensive. He itemised each drink, so apparently beer is that expensive. It was very quiet for a Saturday night compared to all neighbouring pubs. I guess they have priced everyone out. Nice big screens to watch sport on but very brightly lit and little atmosphere

Excellent pub, best in Guildford. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Can’t recommend enough - just a lovely place to hang out.

Pint of well kept local ale and 4% lager, nearly £12. Feeling suitably rogered, I gingerly slid down my barstool and vowed not to return.

We had a great warm, friendly greeting from the staff today. We ordered a pizza. It was excellent, great ingredients cooked really well. One of the best pizzas I have had in Guildford.

On arrival a friend and I were standing outside the pub and were rudely told that we couldn’t enter even though a friend of ours was outside with a table booked. There were a few other people that seemed to have the same issue. After a few moments we were greeted by another staff member who rudely asked us to do the track and trace and her mannerisms were unacceptably rude and I heard her having an argument with another customer. If you want people to drink in the pub then have some respect for your customers. Lastly upon being seated at our booked table and ordering a drink my drink came out with someone else’s dirty lipstick stain all around the rim of the glass. My drink was changed although the staff didn’t seem to care I think that is highly unacceptable especially even more so with this current situation. Would not recommend this pub to others!

I this pub staff are friendly and a great selection of beers. Food is what you expect from a proper pub just what you need to unwind and relax.

Called in for a quick drink during a Rugby match, couldn't have had more fun in the stadium, great Food, Great staff and an electric atmosphere!

Popped into the Tup with my wife for a drink on the way home. It was quiet for a Saturday evening, 8.30 ish, 2 guys, 1 girl behind bar, wife sat down, I waited to be served....waited, waited, looked around the other side of the bar to try to get acknowledged but all 3 staff were too busy in there own conversation to notice. We went to the Kings Head. Nice pub, good service!

For a while this was my go to pub for a good game of pool and a couple of pints with friends and work colleagues. But i will never be returning to this place. Decided to take a few colleagues for a game of pool and a pint after work. 2 pints down and a couple of games in............ A bald gentleman who i can only assume is the GM...... just started closing up the pool area half an hour before they closed( closing the pool area took all of 2 minutes), while being incredibly rude about it and giving us no explanation as to why we had be treated in such a way, just locked up and when asked as to why we had been treated in this manor, was told the nearest probabtion house was just across the road..... bearing in mind i am wearing a suit as ive just come from work, was completely shocked. Me and my colleagues alike where completely stunned, but once the dust had settled, we decided we would just get one last beer and go home.......As i approached the bar, just as last orders are called, i am told that last orders have been called and that they cant serve anymore..... baring in mind the bar was still open for 10 more minutes... The answer i was given for being refused a final beer, was that time was in 10 minutes and they didnt believe we could have a beer and leave in 10 minutes..........i mean, this industry is my career and passion, and i always thought last orders mean that you can order your last drinks before the bar shuts no? Still completely stunned at our treatment and to be honest, confused as to what was going on. Told the bar lady it was a shame and how i thought this was a friendly pub with good service in the past...... Was then told to f*** off by the female bartender !!!!!!!! in all my years working in this industry, i have never been treated so badly and talked to so rudely! i was completely speechless and shocked as to what had just happened...... even as i write this i still am. This is the customer service industry, it is built on thick skin and good customer satisfaction.. Not to tell you customers to f*** off for ordering a beer as last orders are called. If your calling time ? then that is completely understandable... So if i can say anything to you screen scrollers who are looking for somewhere to go for a nice bite to eat and a beer ? i would avoid this place like the plague, an establishment that thinks its alright to treat customers like this and proceed to tell them to f*** off , does not deserve anyone's business. 0 out of 5 and will never be back. Shocking.

Always showing sky sports at the weekend with a good atmosphere, a few dodgy characters but that comes with the territory. Reliable sports pub with reasonable prices.

Its typical of a tup, food is ok, drinks and staff are good and atmosphere is friendly. It comes into its own on big sports events and will show different sports on different screens which is good.

Some people i know were attacked at this pub and ended up in hospital. They were completely innocent and the targets of a completely unprovoked attack. The pub has poor CCTV which does not cover all areas. I would not go there.

This little pub’s strength is in its staff for sure. The service was warm and welcoming from them minute we walked in to the moment we left. We were a large group and wanted to split the drinks and food - high maintenance tourists we are - but this was not a bother at all for the staff!The food left something to be desired but the beer was cold and we were well taken care of!

Was walking round Guildford when suddenly remembered that England were playing South Africa at Twickenham. Clearly this meant I urgently needed to find somewhere to watch. Thought of the Tup (haven’t been for many years) and went in. It was so busy that walked outside thinking of going somewhere else but then clocked the garden. The garden had I think four screens, some of which were in “marquees” but I ended up sitting on a windowsill watching a TV on the side of the toilet block! If that sounds a bit grim it wasn’t. Would have been five stars if it hadn’t been so cold! I will be back next weekend for NZ!

I bought a hop house larger £4.00 and a half pint of coke for my son and was charged another £4.00 complete rip off. Staff did not smile or seem to not enjoy working behind the bar.my advice is go and work in pound land.

Normally a rugby pub but has embraced the world cup very nicely. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff, always very welcoming of my dog as well. He gets lots of attention.

Had a reservation and wasn't allowed in, came back after the game, to meet my friends at the reserved table, still wasn't allowed in altho it was empty. Not chance to speak to anyone. Rude bouncers. Rude management, don't risk it for the next game.

This is a great place for sport lovers , most live sports shown , inside and outside , good bar food too , very generous with its portions , great staff , dogs are allowed in the garden which has covered areas. Best time is when the Six Nations are on , fab atmosphere very enjoyable.

Good service, friendly staff, nice food, typical pub set up so nothing really flash. Put on a good BBQ and Children Friendly.

La ubicación de este pub está fuera del camino y así que si eres un turista y te has encontrado este accidentalmente y volver a la calle alta recibirá un mejor servicio y mejor relación calidad-precio en otro lugar! Sin embargo, si estamos aquí porque lo que quieres es un deporte loco imbuido ambiente para alentar a su equipo local, entonces usted ha encontrado el lugar correcto. Sin embargo, si vas en verano y durante la semana y evitar rush tiempo hora del almuerzo. El jardín es enorme y un lugar secreto sol catcher donde disfrutar de algunos rayos de sol sobre un gran pinot y gossip bastante larga!

He estado en este pub varias veces (es local. La única razón por.! ). Es cutre por dentro y el mobiliario ha pasado por mejores días. El personal puede a menudo ser grosero (no todos, pero algunos miembros del personal del bar más reciente). Las bebidas son caras, especialmente porque no es muy céntrica y la comida es grasosa. . . mediocre. Evitaría.

Guildford Tup tiene un ambiente estupendo para ver el rugby. Es concurrido pero no tienes que esperar mucho tiempo para una copa.

We always come here to watch the international rugby - excellent atmosphere & reasonably priced drinks. A slight shame that food stops serving early!

The barman was very rude and unfriendly, insisting that a friend could not have a tap water and was obliged to buy a drink despite other priced drinks being purchased. Otherwise a nice pub, but sadly brought down by the barman.

Traditional pub with a nice large beer garden out the back which also has a covered area for smokers as well as a plasma TV in the garden.Food was good. Can't really fault it !

Good old fashioned pub with TVs galore, everywhere has a decent view, real ales as well as the lager stuff, good pint so obviously look after the pipes. Extremely large outside area, one area covered with a marquee and heaters. Also outside there is a garage type place that has a TV and pool table in it, best of both, you can apparently hire it out and it has its own bar if you do. Disappointed by the one bar person, seemed a bit miserable, no smiles unless you were a local, however not the end of the world, nice beer, friendly locals, certainly go again.

Great pub with very helpful staff and a good atmosphere. Big out side space with a heater and good banter with the locals. Would recommend and return. Curry house next door was a convenient way to finish the night.

We are always on the lookout for a pub that shows the football and offers a little more than the regular Fosters etc...Meantime Pale Ale on tap was a winner.Football and rugby on over multiple screens, busy pub with a good atmosphere.

It's got the lot, TV screens galore, pool room/table, covered garden and great beer and a great pub atmosphere. We particularly liked the Surrey Hills Brewery's Ranmoor.

Lively local pub in the centre of Guildford and one with a court yard garden too!! Ideal for that after work drink or just to chill out with friends, great if you like the sport too as they have screens up playing what ever the large sporting fixture is at that time.

Came in here for a few drinks with some friends from work. Lovely little place, really nice and friendly staff, and a great selection of beers. Great for the quick drink, or long relax with friends.

Popped in with friends for a few drinks together, and was pleasantly surprised by the nicely decorated, welcoming interior. The drinks were VERY expensive, I payed an arm and a leg for a glass of rose! But the outdoor area is lovely, and there's even a little shed/outhouse area with a pool table which we made the most of! Live sports action is played as well on the TV screen, and overall the pub has quite a welcoming feel. Will return once I have saved enough money to!

Very friendly Rugby pub selling classic pub grub and a good selection of real ales and continental largers.

It does what it says on the tin - great atmosphere, especially when there is any rugby on tv, and great beer. Nuff said!

We didn't eat here but met with friends for a drink and watch the football on the big screen in the courtyard. There was a decent selection of ales and a good sporting atmosphere

Great atmosphere to watch sports and drink some pints. TV screens could be better though, but all in all a great place to enjoy watching sports with friends.

Every big rugby match should be watched here or not at all. The tenants are great, the staff serve beer and the bacon sandwiches are the perfect foundation to any big day!

A great venue to enjoy a drink and watch sport the covered areas are huge so you can watch the tv's in side or out no matter what the weather has in store.

Having just moved to Guildford I'm trying out a few of the local places. Went here for lunch with my mother the other day and we were blown away by the quality and quantity of our food! We ordered a sandwich and a panini (about £6 a piece) which was so big and delicious that I had to take half home with me! And I don't have a small appetite. That's another thing - the man behind the bar was extremely friendly and gladly gave me some tin foil to take home my leftovers in. Will definitely be back!

I think this is a lovely pub in Guildford. I went to celebrate my friend birthday and staff was lovely, everyone was happy to help.We order food and I came quickly and it was delicious, I really would like to recomend this place, because there are so many places in Guildford, but this one has charm of a british pub.

Went with a group of 7 for lunch and all were really happy with our food. Best pub grub we've had in a while, good value for money and friendly service. Good range of drinks and will be showing the sport if its on.

Really nice bar to relax with a few friends!Went there last week to listen to some Acoustic was really nice atmosphere!Would reccomend this as a bar can't comment on the food as haven't eaten there!The garden is lovely, really nice place!

The garden is great especially on a summers evening with live music. Need to be a rugby fan to enjoy the place during the rugby season, when ever that is!
