Really nice pub. The garden is lovely and the bar selection is good. I found it expensive, so we only stopped for one (£28 for 3 alcoholic drinks + 1 soft)

My friend and eye visited The King's Head on 27th July Saturday and was extremely disappointed with the behaviour of the saff was rude and humiliating me infont of the whole pub and shouted at me. We waited our turn patiently but then he totally ignored us and served some other people when we said it was our turn, he then started by shouting to the whole pub.. Hey everyone you make this woman wait all night and DO NOT SERVE her. He was so rude and the night manager didn't know how to handle it. This pub staff works unprofessionally, doesn't know how to serve nor how to handle their customers... Very very bad 👎 Seriously souting at customers I will be taking further compliant as I have been humiliated infront of the whole pub.....

Visited for the first time in a while for food and drinks whilst watching euros. The scampi and chips is completely overpriced and no better than Wetherspoons which is half the price. I used to eat here a couple of years ago and the scampi was lovely with beautiful chunky chips and lovely home made tartare with a good portion of scampi … £ 16.95 for an ok portion of scampi with horrible skinny over cooked fries , overcooked frozen peas and the tartare sauce was not homemade and tasted of nothing … spoons does it better and I have to say I thought I would never say that!!! My son had calamari with a portion of chips. Chips were a tiny portion served in a cup and nearly £5 and the calamari was tiny and not that great. Shame that the food has gone very down hill whilst maintaining a higher price band. Noticed not many people eating although pub was very busy. Will not be eating there again . New owners were not very welcoming .. shame could be a great pub !

Stunning pub right in the middle of town . Really good beer and a amazing steak sandwich superbly cooked by the chef. Nice sitting out are part shad part, part sun. They need to set up a system to allow "tabs" to be run by having a card safe and key system.

Enjoyed a great Sunday lunch at the Kings Head. The food was excellent, the service friendly and sociable. The pub has got that welcoming friendly feeling with excellent staff and a very assured landlord. A dog friendly policy is another plus and the open fires are a cozy reminder of how a successful pub should be run. Definitely a pub on the up. Why are there not more pubs like this? Keep up the good work. Will definitely be making a return visit. Cheers

Poor service by rude bar staff,when you have 5 people bshia bar you shouldn't have to ask to be served.seems they would rather stand about talking than doing what they are paid to do.shame this place used to be really good

A prang pub, where new management are trying hard to make it work. I just wish there was consistency with the decent ales like HSB, that's rarely available and on my last visit, even the tap had gone! It's my favourite and if it's gone, then my vision will move to the Royal Oak where it's guaranteed to be on, and from well maintained pipes

I have been a regular for over six years, always a great evening! However, since Lee and Freddie and the team have taken the place on, things have been put back on track and they deliver an amazing evening of personal hospitality. They care about what they are doing and it shows!!

Popped in with my husband and our retriever for a quick drink on our way back from a dog walk. Good selection of wine and even better selection of ale! The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere. We also ordered a quick bite to eat from the new and improved menu. Great selection of small plates, we ordered the homemade fish fingers and the prawns. Both were superb! Will be making our way back soon!

Visited Sunday 19th of may Beautiful pub and outside seating area, I highly recommend the pil pil prawns and the crispy squid, The coating of which was extremely light. Had a chicken roast which was also incredible and Eton mess. Very dog friendly and they even have a dog station with water bowls, beds and snacks.

New management have turned an already good pub into an excellent pub! For ale enthusiasts like me a well looked after and well chosen selection. Whereas I’m told the lager side of the business is also great! Factor in regular live music and you’ll have a tip top night.

Great pub. Can order food and drink at the table via the website and staff bring over. Well laid out for social distancing and all rules followed. Back to normal now (Dec 2022) but kitchen shut for a refurb. Delicious mulled wine available 😋 Very dog friendly with water bowls available as well as some dog beds and blankets. About to close to change management (Oct 2023) so check they are open before going if you're not local. Feb 2024 - great pub to watch the 6 nations in! May 2024 - tasty new menu available and place still looks great after the recent refurb.

Great service, friendly staff and a real community feel - couldn't really recommend it enough - and it's only improved under new management.

An excellent traditional, local with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. All managed superbly by Lee and Tim, who recently took over the lease and are making their mark. The pub has had a makeover and feels much more comfortable. The open log fires add to the cosy atmosphere and it all feels very welcoming. The ale is superbly served with a great selection. It has a varied menu that covers most tastes and is currently being updated. On top of this, live sports and music are available. I recommend this establishment highly if you are looking for a true local pub experience.

We stopped for lunch yesterday with our one year old, the team were so helpful and got us a high chair and sat us by the window so that our little one could watch the trains going past. We ordered some picky bits to share and saw that all of the meat and fish are supplied by local butchers and fishmongers- you could tell, it was fantastic. Will be back again. Great afternoon.

I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Kings as my local. Though since the new management has taken over its gone from strength! The staff are wonderful, friendly and welcoming (and attractive 😅). The atmosphere is buzzing lately too. They're making ongoing improvements, including a recent refurbishment, which has it feeling much fresher and more open and they are attentive to feedback. For those of you with pups there's lots of touches to make them as welcome which I think is lovely. A great pub, well worth a visit with a much improved menu, warm and friendly to regulars and new guests alike. Check it out!

The Kings Head has definitely got its crown back since Lee Walker & Tim Skinner took over! It’s just so wonderful to see the Kings Head, back to being such a wonderful pub with a very welcoming atmosphere. I love the fact that there is now live music pretty much every week - including Gavin Thomas & every month the amazing Charley Farley Sunday Four! Also for anyone that loves skiffle music & Ukulele music (I am a massive Lonnie Donegan & Joe Brown fan) - you defo won’t be disappointed- if you have never seen The Nefarious Picaroons before - they are incredible! The fact it is such a dog & puppy friendly pub as well is so lovely - there is even a dog menu for furr babies so they don’t stare at you whilst your tucking into a delicious Roast 🐾🐾 Thank you so much Lee & Tim for making the Kings Head a lovely wonderful pub again!

Staying locally for a few nights and popped in for something to eat, nice pub atmosphere, very attentive staff and nice food, burger was really tasty. Large range of beers on tap. It was a Thursday and they have live music so pretty busy

I really like this pub, and it hurts to write this review - as the food is usually great - but I just paid 17.50 for the most disappointing chicken burger... I'd had a chicken burger here (as well as other delicious things) a little while back, and it was well worth the higher price as it was outstanding. This was poor.. average bun, from frozen breaded chicken that was dry and chewy, piece of tomato, lettuce, mayo and ok chips dropped on a plate. I genuinely like this pub a lot, and hope this is seen as a constructive could do better (particular for the price) and hope that quality increases/this was an off day.

The King's Head is a great local, a wide range of lagers and cask ales with a mentionable roast on Sundays and a solid menu during the week. Recent changes in ownership have only improved this solid Fullers offering.

Moved near here last year so I guess it’s my new local, staff are great, beer is Always perfect and there is a good selection of well behaved Dogs to marvel at. (Coincidently, they have dog snacks on the bar, and a dedicated ‘dog menu’). They also do Human food. Counted Four open fires, so if you’re into a cosy pub then this one is for you. Got a huge beer garden also if you wanna do that smoking thing that people used to do. Special mention to Barman Matt!!

It's back to its best, I've eaten here a couple of times and it's been fantastic and the service from Freddie, Max, Jude and Danny is amazing. I look forward to every visit

I can't rate food(as I haven't had any)however lovely pub.

Brought one glass of wine and after checking my account today realised I have been charged £13.45 was told by my father that when he went to the bar they tried charging him £9 for a single brandy my dad checked the price before he tapped his card and realised he was over charged and challenged the price but next time he went to buy a drink he was refused service. WARNING ⚠ check what the type in is the amount they tell you before you tap your card.

Food very poor - small portions - everything was served with sliced raw chilli - even mushroom risotto! Service dreadful - had to ask for glasses for our wine and had to go to bar to get any service

The new owner Lee and his team have transformed this pub. The food was really good, I had the chicken pie with mash which was excellent. The atmosphere is great, the pub also has lots of rooms with open fires. Well worth a visit!

Lovely meal, great service and a relaxing atmosphere. New managers are very welcoming and the general feel of the pub now is brilliant. Had Roast Pork and it was excellent. Pork was cooked beautifully. The roast potatoes were the best I’ve had in a long time. Danny; the member of bar staff who served us was polite and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!

Great service and a warm welcome, friendly staff danny served us at the bar and also brought our food to us that made it more of a personal experience. I actually had the roast beef it came out the potatoes are excellent and the beef was cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the effort will 100% come again.... Thanks guys See you soon 😊

Delicious and extremely reasonable Fish Friday 😋

We popped in for a late lunch on Friday- it was fabulous. The new owners have already put their stamp on it- such an amazing new menu with a great variety of dishes. Can’t wait to follow the journey of this exciting new venture… we will be back!

The kitchen has reopened, but the menu has fewer options than it did in the past. The quality of the food is still great, and the ales even better.

Efficient service and good atmosphere

Lovely Fullers pub - so great for a pint of Pride, ESB or HSB which are all delicious. Also a clean and tidy pub with a nice bar and friendly staff. Had the Sunday roast today, chose roast beef and it was delicious. Not overcooked and plenty of it. It came with roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, parsnip, carrot and a side dish of vegetables. A large portion so left feeling nicely full. Has to be one of the best roasts in Guildford. We will definitely be back for more.

Very nice and cozy although the service can be slightly better. The pub is easy to reach and has a car park which is always handy in Guildford due to the fact that it’s almost impossible to park anywhere without paying an outrageous amount of money. There’s a nice area where you can sit outside which is equipped with heatings so you can have a chat and a drink while you are comfortably warm. It’s overall nice and comfy, I go there almost regularly lately.

This pub in my opinion is one of the best pub in Guildford. The staff are friendly and great fun, loads of locals, friendly atmosphere…

So I have lived in Guildford for several years and walked past this pub many times. Now when I am moving abroad I am trying to hit those pubs I missed. I have to say I really missed out on this one not sure why the outside is not inviting, but inside however it's one of the nicest pubs I have been to in Guildford. Great beer really chilled atmosphere, lovely staff, love it totally love it. More fool me for walking by so often, never judge a book ....

What a great pub, the bar staff, the atmosphere, the clientele and the live music. A group of six of us all loved it. Will definitely visit again.

Popped in here to watch the England v France World Cup match and despite it being incredibly busy it was no problem getting served. The staff worked so hard despite the numbers and all in all we had a great few hours here. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

Great atmosphere can get busy but always a great place to hang out. Great music. The toilets are a bit dodge.

An old favourite of amongst my group of very special pals. Many a good night had in The Kings Head and many a good hang over nursed with a Sunday roast. The perfect place for lobsters to take a moment of respite and, indeed, a heritage site for the world-famous Worplesdon triathlon.

Simply a good local. Keeps it simple. Bar snacks and simple pub food. It is a pub that serves good. Not a restaurant that serves beer. Great selection of ales and keg beer. I happen to be a local, so support James and his team.

Treated like a 17 year old criminal trying to get hammered underage in a pub when simply trying to have an civilised drink with a friend. I am 21 years old and went for an after work quiet drink. Forgot my ID so understandable was not served. However, the treatment I received by a member of staff was disgusting. Pathetically, he was on some power trip kicking me out extremely aggressively, not even allowing me to wait for my friend to come back from the toilet. I had to stand in the street alone waiting for her. He had a smug look on his face saying we’d been cut off (for context my friend ordered one aperol and one cider). He made me feel extremely uncomfortable in the way he was very clearly enjoying belittling me telling me I was underage in-front of many people. Unacceptable.

They had run out of most things on the menu and didn't even bother to tell us in advance, it took us 5 attempts to actually order something that they had available. What we did had as nice, maybe to much chilli on the bacon jam but that is just personal preference.

So this was a regular weekend pub favourite, mainly as I like the choice of ale and the staff have been great. It also has a good choice of inside and outside seating. However, it seems it has recently been taken over by a new lady (lots of tattoos, and she has a puppy that's in the pub most days). I assume she's the manager, as she behaves like it by throwing her weight around. Since she has appeared, the decent Ales always seem to have run out (HSB, PRIDE, ESB), and on the rare occasion when one of them happens to be on, the taste isn't at its best. I also find this lady rude, and very attentive to her own friend group, rather than customers in general. Did to the above, we now tend to frequent the Drummond. No longer one of my recommended pubs

£9.90 for a double gin and lemonade, would rather stay sober. Never going here again. Too crowded, made me feel sick.

We come here every Wednesday for a drink and we are locals to the pub. However the pub has turned for the worse. It has different staff nearly every fortnight. The food on the menu is rarely available. (every week) One of the staff members suggested it was BREXIT,😂 Unfortunately we will now be going across the road to the Stoke Pub. Only the brewers to blame.

What a massive roast dinner, my wife had roast beef, unfortunately they brought out the roast pork meal instead wow Huge, now I wish I had had the pork, I had dirty fries with bacon,cheese,chives absolutely gorgeous, we both couldn't Finnish our means because of there size but excellent value for money and really friendly staff. Thankyou.

Tough to only have 2 maybe three people working on a weekend. Waiting for a beer took a while and at one point nobody was in the serving area for 3-4 minutes. Saw people walk in, wait, and then leave which is too bad. I was told to try the food here but they didn't have wings or nachos ingredients so I settled for a few beers. Unfortunately without any food we wanted we left. Nice outdoor patio area to the side but only one of the heating lamps worked so spots were limited if the sun wasn't hitting you.

We loved this wonderful classic pub, great atmosphere and the bar maid Francesca was super attentive. Would highly recommended, open fire and sports on TV.

We popped in here for some drinks and a snack before a gig in Guildford and had a really nice time. The atmosphere was buzzing & there’s a nice heated/covered outside space at the back. The mac n cheese bites were divine and there’s a good selection of beer. We were served by Maisie who was really helpful & lovely. Would definitely come back!

I live around the CNR from the King's Head and ever since COVID the pub has never recovered. I walk past it home from work and it's completely dead apart from the mam and his dog and 1 or 2 locals. They don't serve food anymore and when I asked why I was told it was due to BREXIT 😂😂. The service is ok and the choice of beers is exceptional but with no atmosphere or customers.
