The King's Head in Guildford

Staying locally for a few nights and popped in for something to eat, nice pub atmosphere, very attentive staff and nice food, burger was really tasty. Large range of beers on tap. It was a Thursday and they have live music so pretty busy

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Food is excellent and the staff are extremely helpful and personable.

I really like this pub, and it hurts to write this review - as the food is usually great - but I just paid 17.50 for the most disappointing chicken burger... I'd had a chicken burger here (as well as other delicious things) a little while back, and it was well worth the higher price as it was outstanding. This was poor.. average bun, from frozen breaded chicken that was dry and chewy, piece of tomato, lettuce, mayo and ok chips dropped on a plate. I genuinely like this pub a lot, and hope this is seen as a constructive could do better (particular for the price) and hope that quality increases/this was an off day.

The King's Head is a great local, a wide range of lagers and cask ales with a mentionable roast on Sundays and a solid menu during the week. Recent changes in ownership have only improved this solid Fullers offering.

Moved near here last year so I guess it’s my new local, staff are great, beer is Always perfect and there is a good selection of well behaved Dogs to marvel at. (Coincidently, they have dog snacks on the bar, and a dedicated ‘dog menu’). They also do Human food. Counted Four open fires, so if you’re into a cosy pub then this one is for you. Got a huge beer garden also if you wanna do that smoking thing that people used to do. Special mention to Barman Matt!!

It's back to its best, I've eaten here a couple of times and it's been fantastic and the service from Freddie, Max, Jude and Danny is amazing. I look forward to every visit

Great pub. Can order food and drink at the table via the website and staff bring over. Well laid out for social distancing and all rules followed. Back to normal now (Dec 2022) but kitchen shut for a refurb. Delicious mulled wine available 😋 Very dog friendly with water bowls available as well as some dog beds and blankets. About to close to change management (Oct 2023) so check they are open before going if you're not local. Feb 2024 - great pub to watch the 6 nations in!

I can't rate food(as I haven't had any)however lovely pub.

Brought one glass of wine and after checking my account today realised I have been charged £13.45 was told by my father that when he went to the bar they tried charging him £9 for a single brandy my dad checked the price before he tapped his card and realised he was over charged and challenged the price but next time he went to buy a drink he was refused service. WARNING ⚠ check what the type in is the amount they tell you before you tap your card.

Food very poor - small portions - everything was served with sliced raw chilli - even mushroom risotto! Service dreadful - had to ask for glasses for our wine and had to go to bar to get any service

The new owner Lee and his team have transformed this pub. The food was really good, I had the chicken pie with mash which was excellent. The atmosphere is great, the pub also has lots of rooms with open fires. Well worth a visit!

Lovely meal, great service and a relaxing atmosphere. New managers are very welcoming and the general feel of the pub now is brilliant. Had Roast Pork and it was excellent. Pork was cooked beautifully. The roast potatoes were the best I’ve had in a long time. Danny; the member of bar staff who served us was polite and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!

Great service and a warm welcome, friendly staff danny served us at the bar and also brought our food to us that made it more of a personal experience. I actually had the roast beef it came out the potatoes are excellent and the beef was cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the effort will 100% come again.... Thanks guys See you soon 😊

Delicious and extremely reasonable Fish Friday 😋

We popped in for a late lunch on Friday- it was fabulous. The new owners have already put their stamp on it- such an amazing new menu with a great variety of dishes. Can’t wait to follow the journey of this exciting new venture… we will be back!

The kitchen has reopened, but the menu has fewer options than it did in the past. The quality of the food is still great, and the ales even better.

Efficient service and good atmosphere

Lovely Fullers pub - so great for a pint of Pride, ESB or HSB which are all delicious. Also a clean and tidy pub with a nice bar and friendly staff. Had the Sunday roast today, chose roast beef and it was delicious. Not overcooked and plenty of it. It came with roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, parsnip, carrot and a side dish of vegetables. A large portion so left feeling nicely full. Has to be one of the best roasts in Guildford. We will definitely be back for more.

This pub in my opinion is one of the best pub in Guildford. The staff are friendly and great fun, loads of locals, friendly atmosphere…

Very nice and cozy although the service can be slightly better. The pub is easy to reach and has a car park which is always handy in Guildford due to the fact that it’s almost impossible to park anywhere without paying an outrageous amount of money. There’s a nice area where you can sit outside which is equipped with heatings so you can have a chat and a drink while you are comfortably warm. It’s overall nice and comfy, I go there almost regularly lately.

So I have lived in Guildford for several years and walked past this pub many times. Now when I am moving abroad I am trying to hit those pubs I missed. I have to say I really missed out on this one not sure why the outside is not inviting, but inside however it's one of the nicest pubs I have been to in Guildford. Great beer really chilled atmosphere, lovely staff, love it totally love it. More fool me for walking by so often, never judge a book ....

What a great pub, the bar staff, the atmosphere, the clientele and the live music. A group of six of us all loved it. Will definitely visit again.

Popped in here to watch the England v France World Cup match and despite it being incredibly busy it was no problem getting served. The staff worked so hard despite the numbers and all in all we had a great few hours here. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

Great atmosphere can get busy but always a great place to hang out. Great music. The toilets are a bit dodge.

An old favourite of amongst my group of very special pals. Many a good night had in The Kings Head and many a good hang over nursed with a Sunday roast. The perfect place for lobsters to take a moment of respite and, indeed, a heritage site for the world-famous Worplesdon triathlon.

Simply a good local. Keeps it simple. Bar snacks and simple pub food. It is a pub that serves good. Not a restaurant that serves beer. Great selection of ales and keg beer. I happen to be a local, so support James and his team.

Treated like a 17 year old criminal trying to get hammered underage in a pub when simply trying to have an civilised drink with a friend. I am 21 years old and went for an after work quiet drink. Forgot my ID so understandable was not served. However, the treatment I received by a member of staff was disgusting. Pathetically, he was on some power trip kicking me out extremely aggressively, not even allowing me to wait for my friend to come back from the toilet. I had to stand in the street alone waiting for her. He had a smug look on his face saying we’d been cut off (for context my friend ordered one aperol and one cider). He made me feel extremely uncomfortable in the way he was very clearly enjoying belittling me telling me I was underage in-front of many people. Unacceptable.

They had run out of most things on the menu and didn't even bother to tell us in advance, it took us 5 attempts to actually order something that they had available. What we did had as nice, maybe to much chilli on the bacon jam but that is just personal preference.

So this was a regular weekend pub favourite, mainly as I like the choice of ale and the staff have been great. It also has a good choice of inside and outside seating. However, it seems it has recently been taken over by a new lady (lots of tattoos, and she has a puppy that's in the pub most days). I assume she's the manager, as she behaves like it by throwing her weight around. Since she has appeared, the decent Ales always seem to have run out (HSB, PRIDE, ESB), and on the rare occasion when one of them happens to be on, the taste isn't at its best. I also find this lady rude, and very attentive to her own friend group, rather than customers in general. Did to the above, we now tend to frequent the Drummond. No longer one of my recommended pubs

£9.90 for a double gin and lemonade, would rather stay sober. Never going here again. Too crowded, made me feel sick.

Nothing to say, best pub in town !

We come here every Wednesday for a drink and we are locals to the pub. However the pub has turned for the worse. It has different staff nearly every fortnight. The food on the menu is rarely available. (every week) One of the staff members suggested it was BREXIT,😂 Unfortunately we will now be going across the road to the Stoke Pub. Only the brewers to blame.

What a massive roast dinner, my wife had roast beef, unfortunately they brought out the roast pork meal instead wow Huge, now I wish I had had the pork, I had dirty fries with bacon,cheese,chives absolutely gorgeous, we both couldn't Finnish our means because of there size but excellent value for money and really friendly staff. Thankyou.

Tasty but shame there was only one choice of roast meat.

Tough to only have 2 maybe three people working on a weekend. Waiting for a beer took a while and at one point nobody was in the serving area for 3-4 minutes. Saw people walk in, wait, and then leave which is too bad. I was told to try the food here but they didn't have wings or nachos ingredients so I settled for a few beers. Unfortunately without any food we wanted we left. Nice outdoor patio area to the side but only one of the heating lamps worked so spots were limited if the sun wasn't hitting you.

We loved this wonderful classic pub, great atmosphere and the bar maid Francesca was super attentive. Would highly recommended, open fire and sports on TV.

We popped in here for some drinks and a snack before a gig in Guildford and had a really nice time. The atmosphere was buzzing & there’s a nice heated/covered outside space at the back. The mac n cheese bites were divine and there’s a good selection of beer. We were served by Maisie who was really helpful & lovely. Would definitely come back!

I live around the CNR from the King's Head and ever since COVID the pub has never recovered. I walk past it home from work and it's completely dead apart from the mam and his dog and 1 or 2 locals. They don't serve food anymore and when I asked why I was told it was due to BREXIT 😂😂. The service is ok and the choice of beers is exceptional but with no atmosphere or customers.

What a lovely pub! We just called in for drinks as we’d already eaten. The atmosphere felt great from the minute we walked in. It’s such an interesting place with all the little rooms, and I love the cisterns in the ladies! If we lived...

Ventured over to Guildford to see our daughter and had booked a table a couple of days prior so as to take her out. Lovely and roomy proper pub. Staff were lovely, very friendly and food and drinks were brought over nice and quick while using the app. I had a simply lovely Haddock with delicious batter. Really nice, chunky piece of fish, while my daughter had superb buffalo wings. My wife had a plant based burger which she informed us was lovely, but I'll take her word for that as it's an alien concept to me haha. Very comfortable experience here and I will happily go again. I think if they did steak on the menu it would be a great success. I totally recommend.

A very pleasant multi roomed pub. My ESB was excellent quality and I enjoyed a sit it the garden. First day of Johnson's latest folly so covid measures were less visible than we have go used too ... But knowing Fuller's staff are working in...

Lovely pub, great pine with friends very good vibe, definitely recommend

Nice place, friendly staff and the cask ale was great. Not the biggest selection if you're a real ale man, but the Fuller's beers were on form. Definitely worth a visit.
