First time going to the Anchor and horseshoe, what a lovely pub, extremely friendly helpful Will highly recommend and definitely go back thank you

My wife and I had a roast dinner here for lunch today. It was absolutely the best roast dinner I've had from a pub in Guildford. Choice of meat for the roast and it came with roast potatoes, 3 veg, Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets and gravy. Today was Lamb Shank or Chicken. Both were gorgeous. I would thoroughly recommend.

Came across this pub whilst on the way to catch a Ferry in Portsmouth. They had live music which created a great atmosphere and the beer was great. We were told there would be a wait for the food but we were happy and it meant we could have another pint. The staff were so kind and apologised profusely for the wait but it was worth it. The roast chicken was amazing and had some of the best gravy ever and my friends loved the Lasagne, especially the stringy mozzarella on top. Will definitely be back 5*

Really rough. I like a local pub but just felt on edge with the clientel and general atmosphere.

Today I ordered 3 non-alcoholic drinks and was served with three alcoholic drinks a gin/tonic with red fruits and two peroni beers (5%) with alcohol my husband had to cancel work due to this incident, spectacular place to enjoy a weekend happy afternoon good music, but the waitress is extremely impolite/rude and unhappy with the way she serves customers! I asked for a receipt for the expense and the employee justifies that she told the customer (my husband), who is autistic, with speech difficulties, that she repeated the order twice, in short, her defense is fine with the boss. He had to call work and take a day off because he was a driver, an unpleasant employee... and very rude when serving and assisting customers! And without any (adequate) training to speak to a person with speech difficulties… I brought the purchase receipt, how can I legally claim this service? In relation to food service, future clients/consumers are advised that food will only be served after (Wednesday) 6:30 pm.

Boyfriend was assaulted in this place. Called the manager the day after who said she'd check the CCTV. No call back or message left as promised. Boyfriend wasn't hurt, only pushed over so didn't take it any further. Will skip this pub from now on to avoid them sort of crowds

We had a most delightful catch up with friends for a 60th birthday. Didn't realise they had organised nibbles so ordered margarita pizza. Just want to say, to chef, absolutely sublime !! Delicious!! Lovely afternoon

Just want to say a big thank you to Julie and Mike for bringing the anchor and horseshoe back to the community of Burpham. Every time we have been in they make us feel so welcome, great team, great service just like a true traditional pub should be and there are not many of them left.

I previously gave the below review with 2 stars, I have been back several times since and can say that its a good everyday pub, friendly staff and good atmosphere, will continue to call in when passing. Seems like a nice enough pub but for some strange reason they had the TV so loud it was unbearable, with speakers everywhere there was nowhere to hide, rushed my pint and left, otherwise would have stayed longer.

We were pleasantly surprised by this pub after stumbling across it last minute. The lady runs the pub is so warmingly welcoming, friendly and accommodating. We had a lovely roast dinner with all the trimmings and they also accommodated our 3 year old with a child size portion. Very friendly relaxed atmosphere and would come again!

Amazing Sunday lunch!! Stopped off on the way home for a cozy pint, watched some football and had 2 wonderful lamb shanks; piled high with all the trimmings. Will stop off again next time we are passing. Dog friendly as well.

It's a cosy real pub. The locals are friendly and chatty. The bar staff are too.

Stumbled across this place when we went to a remembrance on Friday. Saw a sign for best Sunday roasts and knew we had to try. Called on the off chance they would have a table for two adults and two kids. They didn’t disappoint and were able to fit us in within half an hour. The portions sizes were incredible. Children sharing a kids portion was plentiful. I had lamb shank and it was melt in the mouth. Husband had beef and couldn’t fault it either. My only thing is I’d like my potatoes crispy, so will ask next time :) Looking forward to our next visit already.

Landlady looked after us really well. Kindly allowed us to order food on the way as kitchen was closing. VERY dog friendly. Great oven baked pizzas. Just what we needed for a relaxing evening with our new dog. Thank you.

Updated stars because of response from landlady. Be nice if advertising football that they actually have the volume on & not turned down on all the TV's. Said this before but was assured they have the volume on, which they didn't again! and Strange how they ignore a premier league game on the website & yet a championship game is put on there. Me and the lads went here for beers and felt peckish so we ordered some pizzas! Toppings are good and the pizza in general was good but my one was just a little too greasy but it was still really good! Would come back again!

Food is consistently brilliant! Maisie and the young tatted chap are always accommodating and entertaining.. loving the new Cruzcampo addition and a couple of the guys in the group really enjoyed the new cherry gin with elderflower tonic ❤️

A great pub if you fancy a punch up or want to be shouted and screamed at by the barmaid. The way she goes on you'd honestly think that you'd stepped foot into that themed Restaurant Karen's Dinner where the abuse is all part of the show. One time she complained because someone ordered a few rounds of shots and were using 'too many' glasses. Just serve the drinks Karen. The one saving grace is the young chap behind the bar who's always very helpful and charming.

Sunday roast was amazing ...everything you need from a roast..I had Pork with pigs in blankets stuffing Yorkshire pudding veg apple sauce and gravy and it was delicious. The table service was also very good. Really pleasant experience.

A great little pub, with a wide selection of drinks on availablity. Great chatty service, with staff that will engage in conversation with you and have a laugh. Great location for watching sports events too, with both indoor seating & outdoor seating. Multiple televisions inside and a large projector outside in the beer garden for those all important games! Couldn't ask for a better local!

Unreal pub who do great pints of tribute. Bar staff were unreal especially macy and luke. Luke’s attitude was a real USP.

Quaint pub with loads of outdoor space, very reasonably priced drinks and super charismatic staff! What I love most is the frequent live music events on weekends. Not to mention the generously sized pizzas! I’ll be joining in with the Quiz nights next! 10/10

I had heard that their Sunday Roast was the best around in the area so I thought a great idea to visit the pub with my Daughter, and her new Boyfriend, to all enjoy a full Sunday Roast, with all of the trimmings, to celebrate my Daughters 21st Birthday of which was last week - my Daughter just loves a full Sunday Pub lunch so she and her boyfriend were really looking forward to the lunch and meeting up again. So, we arrived and NO Sunday Lunch available today!! When I phoned on Thursday to book the table I specifically mentioned that we were very much looking forward to their Sunday Lunch!! We decided to stay anyway and food was just very average - from freezer to frying. My burger was truly awful and the burger meat was no better than one would get from Sunday Car Boot sale vender. Having said the Barmaid was 100%, however, will not be going back again.

Reasonable price for beer ( Guilford after all).

Service is always friendly and the cellar is well kept. Music is a tad too loud, though it's a good pub. The best in Burpham / Merrow by far.

Popped in for a quick lunch with colleagues and what a great spot for it. This is by far one of the best pubs in the area, the staff are very welcoming, theres something for everyone on the menu. The Sunday roasts are amazing, I'm a fussy eater and can't fault any of the meals I've had over the past few years, so anyone who's not tried this lovely pub please ignore the negative reviews and find out for yourself! A lot of effort has been put into making this establishment eye pleasing especially the beer garden, outside seating areas with parasols and light / heaters and I real bonus dog friendly as well!. Came to Anchor and Horseshoes with my Partner to watch the Queen's Funeral. Event shown on numerous screens. Absolutely fantastic free buffet hosted by the pub. Great atmosphere to mark such a historic event. Would highly recommend. Food was delicious and great company
