The Star Inn Restaurant in Guildford

39 years ago i had my stag do here, and returned for the odd gig in the back room. Recently had a few meet ups with friends for drinks here, and still love it. Good beer, and nice comfortable pub with real character.

Great vibes. Only went for drinks but food looked good too. Atmosphere, smiles all round and quick service even though it was busy. Recommended!

Super old pub, full of great history, good food and beer and really friendly staff. All in Guildford town centre. Food very reasonably priced - much more preferable than other eateries nearby. Brilliant music played during the day, with live gigs in the rooms above in the evenings. Get far from the madding crowd and take time out in these wonderful surroundings.

Dog friendly. I always pop in here every Christmas for a pint or two whilst the missus goes shopping. Always a great selection of beer. It's such an old pub. Full of character.

A traditional English pub near Guildford High Street. Hosts a traditional Mummers Play on Twelfth Night in January each year.

I was here with friends for the adult pantomime. Had a drink before going in & the staff were friendly & helpful. Good selection of gin, wine & beers. And the panto was superb!

Out on works do. Eleven guys and no prob getting in and served. People seemed decent and friendly.

I met an old friend at The Star, neither of us had been there in a while. It was very busy and obviously a few difficult customers. Which the staff handled very well. They were all very attentive, in particular Rachel. We will return!

The Star in Guildford is an excellent atmospheric old pub serving customers for more than 400 years. (Not THE same customers) Great service and a comprehensive food and beer menu. Fish finger sandwiches not to be missed. Still pumps out a constant stream of music and has a brilliant adult panto.

All round good pub. If you're in Guildford and want a pub with character, good food and great cosy atmosphere, then stop off here!

Friendly and clean but rather expensive

The best pub in Guildford IMO. Great selection of metal and punk on the jukebox, well friendly staff, decent beer, and the back room has some excellent live bands. Highly recommended.

What a great pub! Great, old fashioned pub on multiple levels with excellent beer & stages live music (why I was there) without 'disturbing' the rest of the pub. Why hadn't I found this pub before?

Fantastic pub and venue. Staff were fantastic and friendly. Epic drinks selection. Usually most bars have 3-4 beers this place has so many. The music venue is cosy and has genuinely fantastic acoustics. I cannot wait to come back here again

You go hear for the history. Drinks are good and food okay. Friendly place and usually fun!

A relaxing place ,after a day of shopping in Guildford. Very old and has an atmosphere you can enjoy, with its photos on all walls ,of the old days in this town. Good service and selection od food and drinks.

Nice old fashioned pub with a lovely snug area of comfy sofas and armchair, tasty Shiraz and best of all, fabulous music! Where else can you drink while listening to Sunny by Manfred Mann, Rediscover by The Zombies and Don’t Leave Me by Harry Nillson?

Great venue out back, wasn't expecting that from looking at the front. Well done.

There was live music playing when we arrived. It wasn't too loud as there were spaces around the pub to sit where we could still chat. Drinks were a decent price and service was good.

We visited this pub after some shopping. It’s an interesting place on different levels. The drinks (wine and beer) were a bit pricey, but nice. The toilets were down some uneven stairs, so make sure you haven’t had too many drinks before finding them. A nice touch in the ladies was a basket with emergency supplies of tampons, towels, deodorant, hairspray, etc. there is also outside seating out the back. We would visit again next time we’re in Guildford.

Went to watch 2 plays as part of Guildford fringe, While the world goes under and Dinosaurs. Plays were amazing, as was the venue

This is an awesome pub. Great independent vibes with an awesome music venue. Staff are nice, the beers are good and I love the quirky layout of it. One of my favourite pubs in Guildford for sure.

First time back here in 30 years, from when I used to work up in Guildford. Still serve a lovely pint of well kept beer, Coronation I believe. Girlfriend had a red wine, unfortunately past its best. Friendly staff, would probably have changed it had we asked. Looks like they have some good live music there. Hopefully the venue is well supported by the locals.

Great traditional pub in the heart of Guildford. I went to a gig the back room which was very well organised with good sound. The pub is also dog friendly!

One of the best pubs in Guildford. Reminded me of Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street in Central London. Decent selection of beers, fairly basic food menu and very good staff.

Eva and Kenny sorry you couldnt gain entry, we had a sold out gig in our venue room, this accounts for 80 attendees using pre sold tickets, plus band members and crew. Our policy legally allows us up to 150 public in the entire premises, 80 people in the venue would leave 70 to fill the rest of the pub, which being quite extensive, can look a bit empty, but we must stick to our policy.

Could not get in pub as no ticket for back room. Never had that before.

Tickets only tonight. Turned up at 9.30pm only to be turned away by doorman saying it was at its capacity. Never known this before!!!

A pub with loads of potential. Ale questionable. Had a Whitstable Bay pale ale which tasted unlike any I have tasted ( ultra bland - this beer really isnt). There were 4 at the bar and I was disappointed to hear "who's next". Too many pubs seem to think it is the responsibility of the customers to fight for the attention of the inattentive. Also had a pint of Spitfire. Again inexplicably bland.

My fiancé and I were so taken with The Star Inn that stopped in for drinks both nights of our 2-day stay in Guildford. This is a charming, cozy, and inviting pub with a great selection of beers - perfect for a pint (or two). We were delighted to meet the manager on our second visit, who we chatted with for at least an hour (she was there even on her night off!) Talking with her over some pints was truly one of the highlights of our trip - we are already planning our return visit. Hope to see you soon, Pip!

Very nice. We had meals, fish & chips, sausage & mash and I had a butternut and coliflower dhansak. I had a pint of Spitfire ale.

Nice enough place with a surprising back room for events. Came here for a comedy night which was great fun. Only issues were they ran out of quite a few popular dishes when we were there (it was only 6:30pm) so we ended up having to eat somewhere else afterwards. And also the seating was an issue for the size of party we were (we had to pillage chairs from all over the pub) but we had a good time
