To Kamagra99. As a regular and someone who worked in the pub for many years, I'm sorry to hear about your experience, however the regulars are quite friendly and never look down upon non regulars. They are more than entitled to stand at their place at the bar where they have for many years.

Great pub but so unwelcoming by a group of locals who constantly stand at the bar and glare at anybody who they don't recognize when your trying to get a drink. They absolutely refuse to move from there "place" at the bar no matter how busy the pub is! We ordered a round of drinks and one pint was flat and tasted horrible. No drama it happens, nobody's fault. When we asked for it to be repoured the bar staff were so rude. Took around 10 minutes to get another pint and the fresh pint was dumped at the bar with no apologises or interaction at all while at the same time the "locals" staring at us making our group feeling rather threatened. Its a real shame as it is a fantastic pub but the locals and bar staff are so unwelcoming. AVOID!

Went for an "Adult Panto" in the "back room"! What a fantastic facility! What a fantastic Panto!!!!! The pub was jam-packed. The atmosphere was wonderful. Had a pint ....well kept. Didn't have food. Service good as there were several barstaff so you didn't have to wait for your drink. It's an extensive rabbit-warren of a place so you will find a book to sit with you friends. I loved it!

Didn't let us in because we were with my 13 year old cousin, visiting from Texas, on New Year's Eve - because of a completely-arbitrary no under 18s rule. Absolutely appalling service. It was perfectly obvious he wasn't going to drink any alcohol. Your pub ruined my aunt, uncle and cousins' visit from Texas and ruined our pub crawl round our home town. Pubs in London did not restrict access in the same way. Shame on you.

A great pub with room for all yet full of atmosphere. Excellent range of beers well kept and with a friendly smile as standard. Called at lunchtime and it was obvious that locals on shopping duty find it a haven. Spent two hours there which flew by. Toilets clean. A tad complicated to find and lots of steps but the building is extremely ancient the deeper into you go. Suggest you venture forth and discover it's theatre. All of the The Star is a must see.

I’ve been coming to the Star Inn since I was 18 – that’s 17 years now – and it truly feels like a home away from home. The atmosphere is second to none, with a cosy and welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. The staff are absolutely brilliant – so friendly, warm, and always up for a chat. They really go the extra mile to make everyone feel like part of the family. The jukebox is fantastic, packed with a great selection of tunes for every mood. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet pint or a lively evening with friends, the Star Inn never disappoints. It’s more than just a pub; it’s a proper community. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

Absolutely desperate to find somewhere to eat with good basic pub food. Guildford has loads of different eateries / cafés / restaurants but all with a lack of gluten free dishes in spite of reviews. (Don't be led astray. I wasn't here for a meal at all, but Tripadvisor make the selection mandatory. Daft.) This place is a warren, spread over several floors with intervening steps all over the place, and an event/performance space at the far rear. Low ceilings, so don't bump your head. A reasonable selection of beers on the bar, prices not too exorbitant (currently around £5.70 a pint). Staff are welcoming, and the place has a generally warm and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately, due to the arrangement of the building, accessibility beyond the few tables and chairs reachable from the front door is limited. Anyone having a problem with stairs is going to have a bad time - and that includes toilets, which are below the bar down some very narrow steps. I presume that - given the necessary fire exit for the performance space, alternative access can be arranged there, but I cannot say I checked whether that also involved steps or an external staircase.

We used Seafare for many years and were keen to try out the new Coopers fish and chips. The first couple of times was really nice and the service was friendly. Recently, we ordered two cod and chips. The service was very lack lustre, the fish was barely warm and worst of all, the chips were soggy and very gritty and nowhere near as nice as we had experienced before. It almost seems like they peaked too soon and it’s all down hill from now. Shame, as we had high hopes of having a good replacement for Seafare which we were sad to see go.
