Weds night - appalling meal. Chips were hard and floury and utterly inedible. Fish was limp with soggy batter. No attempt to make an effort. Family were so disappointed. Never again.

Not the nicest of lunch break experiences. A deliveroo chap was coming out as I went in. I gently put a finger on the door to close it slightly quicker as it was chilly outside. It then felt like I got told off by the gentleman behind the fryers as it was a self closing door (obviously) and I may 'damage it'. My work colleagues food order was wrong with a missing battered sausage. And I appreciate a fish and chip shop is not a good idea for a cheese burger. But went for it as that's what I wanted. Awful little thing like a birdseye from the freezer. Wish I had taken a photo. Only ate half. Chewy. The lady on the counter was lovely though. She let me have a couple of free sauce sachets. I know the fish is good as I've had it many times before. Just don't go off piste.

New renovation is very stylish 😍 great customer service and amazing fish and chips. Everything is also priced well. Glad I went for a quick and delicious dinner.

Large Cod … not flaky and very thin and certainly not worth £11.00 … Chips … thin cut with lots of black marks on them.. Very disappointing

I think they must be rationing in this shop because the “large” chips, which costs a fortune, fits in the palm of my hand.

Had family over so my daughter pre-ordered 6 meals over the phone. We collected and they were all ready and waiting. The girl serving promptly found a plastic bag to cover the order bag as it was raining. Lovely grub, generous portions, Very clean and sparkling interior. Their website is a bit of a joke; it needs a proper re-vamp. It's not very old so they need some good advice, it is very user-friendly, hardly legible. Plus no Huss. Now maybe this is an endangered species and when asked on the phone the guy said they hadn't had it for over 3 years . . . which begs the question, why is it still on the Online Menu? Despite the abysmal website though it is a great Fish and Chip Shop! I wonder if I'll get a response to my review?

Reasonable prices with a large selection of food to choose from. The chips are very well made and are my personal favourite, the atmosphere is 2 stars because it is really hot inside which is not great when you walk in with a coat in winter or when its already 30 degrees celsius outside.

Not good staff seem under stress and I don't mean heat stress food not wonderful it has awards for food on wall Ummm order was not all in the bag had to go back

Have given this shop a fair chance and benefit of the doubt. Used them 4 times within a year. Every time the chip portions are small and of poor quality. They are oily to a point where you can wring them out and under cooked, suggesting the cooking oil is not hot enough? The battered sausage is the same. Nice batter but far too oily. Shame as the shop is very convenient for me but I refuse to spend anymore money there. I hope they take feedback on board and the quality of the cooking improves.

Very pricey £4.80 for a large chips that are not that large and were not very nice,i didn't buy a large cod at nearly £11 i couldn't afford it ,not cheap as chips here!!!

We've been occasional customers of Seafare for many years. The Burpham Seafare used to be up there with the very best in the UK (Our best experience time and again is Pages in Cwmbran). The last few times we have ordered from Seafare Burpham we have been deeply disappointed: The service is still good but the fish has been overcooked even when cooked from fresh while we waited, and the chips have been over or under-done. It no longer warrants the prizes it has won in the past. I very much doubt if we shall ever return to Burpham Seafare.

Usually great but very angry staff in there tonight, slamming or dropping all food into bags. £20 of fish all mashed up for us tonight. Shame as I drove from the other side of town to stay loyal to this company.

Just been to the Seafare in Burpham...paid £45 for 4 very small portions of luke warm cod & chips...so disappointed....top small fhe price ...won't be going again

Pleasant family owned business. Courteous and friendly. I personally didn't have anything on order, but Fish, Chips and Sausages looked tasty.

Good fish and chips. Asked for an item but was told by the cook he had to hold it back for Deliveroo customers - awful! Turning up in person to be told a Deliveroo customer was being given preferential treatment and the item hadn’t even been ordered. What happened to first come first served! Will order on Deliveroo next time to make sure I get what I would like given in person customers are second rate customers!

It's always OK....but not great

What a wonderful experience. It was a pleasant surprise to walk in, order some food and have it in my hand about a minute later. Just like a Chippy used to be. Well done Seafare.

Food is good enough but like I've seen someone else state on here the cook is one of the rudest people to the young lads and girls that serve for him. Ask for something that he doesn't already have warm in the cabinet and it's like you're doing him a disservice. That's your job pal to serve what the customer wants from your menu. Always gives the place a horrid atmosphere and I feel sorry for the people that have to work in his presence and be subjected to that rubbish behaviour from a grown man.

Best chippy in guildford! We drive from across Guildford to go here. Owners are awesome and friendly, service is impeccable and the food is always good! Always a cue on the weekends so you know its a good chippy! Do yourself a favour and go down.

Possibly the worst fish and chips I have had in a long time. Overpriced and very dry. Hiugely disappointed.

£ 3.80 pence for a single sausage So two sausage std chips and curry sauce has just cost me £ 11.90 I feel this is very expensive for a meal normally costing £ 8.00 pounds I shall not using again !

Consistently high standard of food. The fish is always of good quality and the chips are great. Generous portions as well.

Make sure you ask to cook to order. I bought a large cod and haddock yesterday and the haddock in particular was dry as if it was cooked way before I arrived.

Time & again proves itself to be the best F&C ever. You can get good Fish & Chips in some pubs now, and away on holiday, especially on the coast. However, we come back to Seafare, even more so as they do a Gluten Free Monday for my wife, and we still remark how this is the very best Fish & Chips anywhere, ever.

30th of June 2021 I went into the shop to get some chips for supper around 2000hr now I wish I hadn’t, a young tall lad with curly hair working behind the counter was being shouted at by the man cooking the chips etc, nobody deserves to be spoken to like that in the work place especially in front of customers, shame on that man, I thought about that boy all evening, hopefully he’ll tell him to poke his job, and I’ll never go in there ever again, DISGUSTED

Had sausage and chips x 2, food was cold, chips dry and sausages dripping with fat. Have not had a takeaway from here for a couple of years they used to be very good, just hope it is an off day.

It's a disappointment. All over cooked not terribly appetising. Shame it used to be good.

Chips were a touch cold and the fish portion size was a bit small, but overall good taste. A well run establishment clean and tidy requires a few small improvements. I see they do a lunchtime offer for OAP's, a nice touch!

Seafare in Burpham. Very fresh crisp fish. Best fish and chips . The fish butter with great quality. Place is so clean and the cust. Service was excellent. This place is sparckling clean. Young Boys very presentable and with great customer professional approach. 👍👍👍👌👌👌 Yummy

However both are very good. The fish from the Burpham branch tasted even better. I had occasion to visit this outlet when the Worplesdon road branch was being renovated

The cheesey chips are amazing and the other main meals are pretty good as well however the main meals are a little too greasy and the normal chips are not soft enough on the inside

Mushy peas were really dry and tiny portion. Chips were really dry also and not cooked well. Really bad calamari frozen from a packet small and tasteless. Will not be returning.

Monday only = excellent gluten free fish and chips. Phone to order in advance. This GF fish is far better than non GF fish and chip shop fish (lighter). staff very friendly.

Pleased to be back revisiting after a couple of years gap but really disappointed. Sadly very poor solid batter with little flavour and soft soggy type chips.

Never gone wrong with an order, fast to serve despite large orders. Kind staff who handle them selves with composure and calmness, even on a Friday night!

Very greasy fish. Got all the chip off cuts which were hard and rubbery. Decent portion but only half was edible. I dont know how this shop could have got an award. Possibly the worst fish and chips I've had in years...

Seafare Burpham delivered nearly 100 fish and chip suppers to our family bingo social at Holy Trinity church. The food was fresh and delicious and delivered bang on time. Andy was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended if you're having a 'do'.

Soggy batter and the taste was bland. Riverside fish bar is so much better and food is served in keep warm packaging which really helps retain the heat. Would not use seafare again

I had 2 steak and kidney pies and chips after a long day at work.The pies were very good and the chips were excellent,a brown colour for a change,unlike the usual off white chips you get in most chippies.A treat.

Chips were soggie and under cooked

Fish was very very tasty, the chips are thick are crispy. Perfect for a take-away. However, there is no space to eat in. Such a big space and no space to eat in. The atmosphere is very low-key and I think you should do better if you've won so many awards.

A complete rip off, and food was cold when I got home .........Absolutely couldn't believe she left all the bags open whilst went off to get something for order, and food all started going cold. I peeked in bags before closing them myself and was surprised at the size of the chips. I questioned it, Girl said, more chips in a separate bag so left. The portion of the fish and chips was the smallest Ive ever had, and the most expensive- a complete rip off - Wont be going back. No wonder there weren't many people in there in a friday evening- will be finding somewhere else

The food is ok quality to it tastes nice but not the local fish and chips near me but I definitely think that it's worth going there as the quality of the food has perfect quality for the price

I have never come across a ruder person than the one who served me tonight I asked a simple question and his response was as if he didn’t care, he then proceeded to swear at me and when I asked for my money back and I would go elsewhere I got a barrage of abuse and he even came out onto the street to continue swearing at both myself and my husband, When I asked for the head office phone number I was told that there wasn’t one and tough I would just have to call the shop tomorrow he also accused me of being rude to his servers which I most certainly wasn’t I will NEVER use this shop again and will be advising my family and friends not to either

Great local chippie and the kids meals are great value.

This was just a bit disappointing, tbh. Heavy, tough batter that wasn’t helped by being grievously overcooked. Dry fish (again, overcooked). My mum made the mistake of going for plaice, which was tbf cooked to order but brutalised into oblivion - basically a dark orange batter case around a thoroughly overcooked core. The chips were headed in an ok direction, but tasted far too strongly of oil. This is a pretty questionable barometer, but our Labrador won’t usually touch chippy chips (put a bag down, she’ll ignore them). She was demolishing these, whilst none of the grown ups made much progress. I barely ate a handful, which is an unknown level of restraint!Cod also looked to’ve been cooked (perhaps well) in advance, which is just a bit disappointing. Positives: my son’s kid’s fish and chips was great. For whatever reason, it was more lightly cooked. Same problem with the chips, obvs, but the fish at least was ok. Counter staff were friendly.

This is a really good fish and chip shop, they won lots of awards. The chips are amazing dot-dot. I can't speak for the fish as I'm vegetarian. The vegetarian burgers are ok
