This restaurant - rather surprisingly given its captive audience - stands on its own merits and delivers very well presented and tasty dining. Highlights were a delightful roasted cauliflower soup with minced chestnut and herb oil, and a most stupendous dessert. I'm not a dessert person but the two courses we had had were so well executed we were encouraged to stretch our waistbands to a third. The black forest style chocolate mousse was a delightful assembly involving orange zest, fresh mint, dark chocolate ganache with pistachios, and sour cherries which was as easy on the eye as it was delicious. The service was friendly, pacing of courses good for a treat lunch, not rushed.
Quick late afternoon drink with a work colleague in this venue - venue is very modern and smart, and set over several different floors.
Service was decent with a nice atmosphere inside, around 4 pm.
We drove up here from the south coast to sample the cafeteria and generally check out the lay of the land since I last worked at the Gardens back in the early 80s. It being a bitterly cold day, we didn't visit the gardens themselves.
We made a bee line for the cafeteria which is nicely set out. The serving staff were pleasant enough but we were shocked by the prices. For our party of 5 having just some simple teas and hot drinks we left 22 quid at the pay desk! We looked at the prices and simply laughed at them charging 6 quid for a sausage roll. I don't mind paying for good, high quality things but we all thought that the prices here were ridiculous. Pity.
Give this one a skip. We ordered the chicken pasta x 2 and margarita pizza. The pasta had a watery spinach sauce and overcooked chicken. The pizza was borderline burnt. Also overpriced. The terrace is much better with fresh seasonal food and food portions.
Went for a big breakfast and it definitely was! Food was cooked well and, despite being fairly busy, arrived without too much of a wait. Staff were all friendly and the cafe was tidied quickly. Nice atmosphere.
Good value for money, would happily visit again
Me and my son thought it would be nice to grab a nice drink at Harris & Hoole.
I had really high expectations for our visit! I was extremely disappointed with the customer service skills of this young man serving, he barely spoke or smiled. My coffee tasted like burnt coffee, made me feel sick 🤢 never felt so rubbish after that experience. Sort it out harris and Hoole!
I ordered two 2 good to go bags for collection at 16:30. I checked at 16:30 and all showing as ready for collection at 16:30. Drove and parked to collect. At 16:30 arrived to be told bags were cancelled. No apologies from the staff and no offer to provide a bag anyway with in date merchandise.

Sadly this takeaway thought it was fine to substitute scampi and chips with chicken nuggets WITHOUT informing us. Only when bitten into did I phone them assuming it was an error and ( despite being pescatarian) expecting them to be shocked/ apologetic and therefore understand mistakes can happen - however they were AWARE of it : “Because we didn’t have any scampi”!! Completely unacceptable. A shame because the curry and rice was nice - but hard to trust a restaurant with such a cavalier attitude to orders.
The operators of this eatery are thieves and vagabonds. I paid £36.49 for food that was never delivered and no refunds made. These are worthless scammers. They should not be allowed to operate their businesses in a sane environment.
I work hard for my money. Its non refund remains an open sore in my heart. Until that money is refunded, I will never wish the organisation well. Whatever they lay their hands upon is cursed!

Been twice for food and I can say I’ve really enjoyed the food, however I went today and a staff member who I think was called “Nicoleta” was extremely rude and had poor customer service.
I read the review of the golf course below from 2017 but nonetheless looked forward to my visit. I have too say that whoever designed the golf course did a great job and the layout is impressive. There were also a few greenkeepers out on the course keeping the bunkers raked etc. Overall though the condition of the course was disappointing with a capital D. The tees and fairways were scruffy and the first cut of rough poorly kept. The greens however were decent with few pitch marks thereon. The trouble with Merrist Wood is that it lies in the heart of rich golf territory but has clearly made a conscious effort not to compete with the better courses nearby and alas it shows. In the clubhouse the lights didn't work in the toilets and still didn't work four and a half hours later with calls into question the quality of the facilities management. Food and drink was competitively priced and of acceptable quality. Having played over 300 courses in the UK the big question is would I return? Despite the great layout the answer is very unlikely. Very nearly rated poor.
I went to T4 with my friend and really loved it. The bubble tea that I ordered was incredible and just what I needed to cool down on this hot day. I would really recommend as the flavours, combinations, staff and their recommendations are great! Thanks T4!
Was really looking forward to trying out this new bakery. Ambiguity as to whether it had open yet (looked open - but no signage or opening-hours info displayed) for a couple of weeks leading up to apparent opening. Saw some assistants at the counter, and tentatively stuck my head through the door to politely ask. But one assistant (American sounding) just gave me the dirtiest look - like I had trespassed, and curtly replied it wasn't, as they were just making up some of the produce. I then enquired when it would be open, and received a similar response. I left at that. 2-3 weeks later was passing and had noticed it opened, so popped in. The same assistant gave me the same look and - in a rude tone - addressed me as "buddy". i ignored him and spoke to his more courteous colleague. Though to tell you the truth I'd already been put off. I'll just wait for Ole & Steen bakery to open in the High Street. Appalling!
