Jacket potatoes looked good but potatoes were barely warm . It would have been nice to be believed but understandably a food thermometer was used to check our opinion. Apparently the temperature they choose to serve them at seems to be the one we judged as barely warm . On the plus side new potatoes were then offered without any fuss but we rather lost the will to live when they were pretty much like the first .Cheese tasted cheap . Bits of salad and the baked beans were ok .. . but not for £13 !

Incredibly expensive for average food. £10 for two coffees and a dry pain au raisen at one cafe then later £20 for an average pasty, an egg sandwich and two cups of tea. They really now how to charge!

Staff were lovely , coffee, tea and were perfectly nice and cafes were clean and attractive but really overpriced compared to most other attractions. If you visit, prepare to pay above the odds for hot drinks, but bring your own food. There are lots of places to eat and picnic in Wisley without paying the inflated prices.

Very disappointed in the food hall, I was expecting a better selection. The hot food was not the sort of thing I would have expected and was quite expensive. Very limited range of sandwiches and didnt like seeing the tuna baguettes and foccacias all on open plates for insects to get onto and also picked up by random people. Cake and drink selection was good. We wanted a basic lunch like burger and chips, fish and chips etc but instead two of us had an egg mayonaise sandwich at nearly £6 each and the other had a scone and jam. We were on our way home from an overnight stay in Aldershot so hadnt come prepared with a picnic, in future we would do this instead.

The Foodhall is a complete ripoff, avoid. We have always taken a picnic but thought we would treat ourselves. Well, it was certainly no treat. Cold tasteless food. We had 2 tiny portions of chicken with horrible rubber potato wedges, a scone with jam (no butter available), a piece of cake, a coffee and a tea. It was £49.50! If it had been good we might have coped but it was absolutely awful.

Very disappointed with experience in cafe + food hall. First we went to the cafe near the herb garden and ordered 2 lattes and 2 cakes, I am gluten free and chose the only option of a rhubarb and polenta cake and hubby a turmeric flapjack. both cakes were bland and not very nice. The price for the 2 coffees and 2 cakes was £16 + and really not value for money at all. Then before returning home we went to the foodhall hoping for a better selection but just exactly the same cakes were on offer so we bought nothing except a small packet of crisps priced at £1.85

Service was offhand and unfriendly. The scones were thin and dry. The only good thing about the cafe at Hilltop is the lovely herb garden to sit in. Stick to drinks and bring a picnic to eat elsewhere in the garden.

We just had a sandwich and wrap, but my main criticism is not the price, but the fact that there was no allergy labelling on any of the dishes, except the pre-wrapped sandwiches. My wife is dairy-free, but not vegan and whilst we were there, a man who had a nut allergy was looking as well. We had to ask about what spread they used and whether the mashed potato had been made with butter. It was busy being school holidays and the lady serving was having to go into the kitchen and check with the chef for each request which was absurd. Surely if a garden centre in Orpington, where we were staying, can label everything on a menu, then it cannot be beyond the resources of the RHS to ensure that all its menus and labels in its cafes and restaurants, carry the accepted labelling to make it easier and less embarassing for visitors like my wife. She did not appreciate having to ask the same question about three or four different menu choices.

Beautiful gardens and lovely food at the cafe. The quiche with pea and mint was very nice; it was served with some celeriac remoulade. The cakes we had were delicious. The only downside was the price as the food was quite expensive but if the money goes to maintain the garden, I can live with that!

Absolutely awful experience. The food was flavourless, served on a cardboard dish. The vegan sour cream was like shaving foam - unfit for human consumption. The Greek salad was a bowl of tasteless oily rice with a few bit of lettuce and flavourless cubes of vegan feta. Cheap ingredients. Queuing amidst the noise and chaos of staff bellowing out numbers for food collection was stressful and not in keeping with the gardens at all. Got a refund but no one seemed interested in actually hearing the feedback. Don’t eat there!

Have been to Wisley a couple of times this year, admittedly during the more busy annual Flower & recent Craft Fair events. Wisley is great, it's well laid out and a great outdoor experience with nicely laid out outdoor eating areas. The cafes and particularly the main food hall are totally at odds with the rest of Wisley as other reviewers have said. Really an awful experience of queues, poor layout and food supplier running out. The drink & food quality was OK when you eventually get it after queuing. The food hall & cafe seemed totally unprepared for a higher number of customers when events are on leading to truly horrendous queues and food running out. When we return to lovely Wisley we'll be taking our own food & drink next time, we really can't face the hassled experience again and they will unfortunately lose out on additional income - urgently needs a re-plan and overhaul.

We visited the cafe at The Hilltop at lunchtime. A very limited food selection, long queuing and poorly managed service didn’t bode well. We had cheese, lettuce and pickle sandwiches which comprised thick brown bread with very thick crusts, a slice of cheese, a lettuce leaf and some branston pickle. It came in a brown cardboard box for the exorbitant price of £5! The thick bread and crusts made the sandwiches almost inedible. It cannot be difficult to provide more appetising sandwiches surely, a wider selection of snacks and to improve the service - there were plenty of staff but maybe no management?

The quality of food available in The Food Hall is very poor, overcooked and poorly presented. They offer a very limited range of food which is very sad for an organisation such as the RHS. Anyone wishing to purchase a 'kids meal' beware, you have a choice of boxes containing pre-selected items or hot meals which are totally unsuitable for most children, the 'sides' (baked beans or potato wedges) being served in pots. Meals are extremely expensive and if my experience over several visits is anything to go by, almost inedible. If this is the 'Taste of Wisley' then heaven help us. The servery is poorly planned and organised and the restaurant seating area difficult to negotiate when busy. I am basing this review on the personal experience of taking my family (children and grandchildren) on days out to various places over many years. RHS Wisley Food Hall have such appallingly low standards now and yet the RHS seem to be spending vast sums of money on their new building programme, I can only hope that the new development includes some major improvements in the catering offer to the public who visit. Example of pricing structure, Adult meal 2 sausages+2 sides=£9:00, Kids meal 1 sausage+1 side=£5:25? Bit of a rip-off to say the least. A visit to the restaurants at Hampton Court or the garden centre attached to Birdworld should give the managers of The Food Hall some idea of decent catering at reasonable prices, I only hope they take some notice.

....overpriced. Why do these places set out to rip you off by charging higher than High St price for food and drink ?. It’s a British thing unfortunately as I have not experienced this anywhere abroad - and I have travelled a lot. If the offering was exceptionally good then fine, except it isn’t. What is exceptional is the entry price - which I am happy to pay - so to then be charged more than is reasonable to have a bite to eat and a drink leaves a sour taste in the mouth...pun intended !

After all that walking in Wisley - you'll need somewhere to eat & drink. In decent weather, The Food Hall is a fantastic place to eat & drink as you can eat outside with most beautiful views across the gardens. There's a wonderfully happy atmosphere. Enjoyed by people of all ages. Food is reasonably priced, and I recommend the hot drinks. Almost everything is ethically sourced.

We called in here for a little breakfast snack whilst walking around the lovely gardens.

Lots of choice - of food and of places to eat it. We were impressed. The name Food Hall was a bit off-putting bit this was a cut above while still being reasonably priced.

the food is good but unfortunately when we pointed out that we had been overpaid it was not dealt with very speedily. we did get our overpayment back but it was dealt with in such a long winded manor it rather spoiled the experience

We came here to watch the rugby but left pretty quickly. Dirty toilets and rude bar staff, when asked why the beer is being served in plastic cups, we were told that only regulars get glass. One way to ensure that I don't become a regular I suppose

The food was absolutely horrible. Only just this side of edible to be honest but we were hungry and the place was packed so didn't want to raise a fuss

The building itself was unbearably hot and I felt sorry for the staff working in those conditions. However, she was very friendly and efficient. Tables outside had lovely views but could have done with a wash-down. Coffee was good.

Nice looking place but it stops there. We wanted cocktails but none to be had. The garden was pleasant but no cushions on the chairs and they could have done with a sweep. The loud fan was slightly off putting too. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Starter was pork belly, tasty but portions were far too big. Snapper with couscous and vegetables was tasty enough but far too big, we found it slightly off putting. The fennel was so hard despite asking for a steak knife was inedible. I felt like we were having home cooked food to be honest. It needs refinement

Very disappointing visit as used to be a lovely pub. No precautions in place for covid - no details being taken from visitors and just 1 small token bottle of hand sanitiser on the bar. Big groups of very young people (made me feel old in mid-30s!)with no attempt at social distancing. Toilets were dirty and smelly. Won't be going back!
