I read the review of the golf course below from 2017 but nonetheless looked forward to my visit. I have too say that whoever designed the golf course did a great job and the layout is impressive. There were also a few greenkeepers out on the course keeping the bunkers raked etc. Overall though the condition of the course was disappointing with a capital D. The tees and fairways were scruffy and the first cut of rough poorly kept. The greens however were decent with few pitch marks thereon. The trouble with Merrist Wood is that it lies in the heart of rich golf territory but has clearly made a conscious effort not to compete with the better courses nearby and alas it shows. In the clubhouse the lights didn't work in the toilets and still didn't work four and a half hours later with calls into question the quality of the facilities management. Food and drink was competitively priced and of acceptable quality. Having played over 300 courses in the UK the big question is would I return? Despite the great layout the answer is very unlikely. Very nearly rated poor.

Took my friend for light lunch just before Christmas,was always very impressed with friendly service,nicely presented food and comfy seating/surroundings with open fire,but this time not certain if Christmas time or what ,It was a very disappointing experience,it was very quiet when we arrived and ordered drink and sandwich at bar ,I asked if fire would go on ,and was told it should be on but just haven't got round to putting it on yet ?? we then sat with our drinks for thirty minutes or more waiting for our sandwiches ,I was disappointed as wanted to show my friend how nice it was there ,we ate our lunch and left shortly after , as fire still not put on and and very cold ,wont be hurrying back anytime soon ,sad because I really did enjoy this venue for lunch, maybe ill try again in the warmer months .

I only recently became aware that anyone can attend the Golf Club and use the bar and restaurant. You do not have to be a member of the club. It is a nice large facility but there are areas where you can tuck yourself away for privacy and atmosphere. Drinks are usual Surrey pub prices. The menu is fairly short and offers largely what I would call pub grub at good prices. It is worth a visit. Staff are generally welcoming and helpful.

Buena comida, menú básico pero bien normal y preparado un montón de cosas. Patatas asadas, desayunos, etc. andwiches El personal es agradable y vistas gorgeaous

Rocked up to play 18 holes with two friends 10th may 2017 What a shock . Yes we have not had much rain but and it's a big BUT if I was a member I would be demanding a refund . Where to start fairways rock hard and almost every lie was bare. Rough if you can call it that . Over grown weeds is a better reflection . Greens to be fair the website said the are being worked on it didn't tell you they were being worked on by Charlie Dimmuck on speed . Now the bunkers all I can say is there must be a few builders looking for course sand as all they have done is put gravel ladened sand on top of compacted sand ( I pulled a stone the size of a fist out of one bunker ) We paid £25 each for this and to be honest I will not be going back . If they don't get some water on the course it will be lost very soon. If this is the work of crown golf and there normal money saving measure then shame on you. If it is just a bad ground staff then take up knitting. I hope this review stops a few wasting there money on a course that is finished.
