Ole & Steen, Guildford in Guildford

Too many tables, don’t know why they put tables in the walk way. Really awkward to sit at! Good food and cakes but the drinks were awful. Super frothy flat white and very watery bitter hot chocolate. Won’t be back…

Loved the service, everyone’s always so kind. The pastries are fab! I came on a Saturday afternoon, staff working hard. Lovely bakery.

Chloe, George and Chantel were super helpful despite it being late on a Friday evening. Great service and quality pastries.

Went in because the shop front looked classy/tempting and also to see if they offered anything vegan in their pastry section. Miraculously they did and it was a decent pastry, the coffee was also fine. The low score is for the dirtiness of the tables and floor. It was half empty when we went in and their were tables with cups/plates/crumbs/spills etc. left all around the place, no one seemed interested in the time we were there to go round and clear up. The place also lacked atmosphere, I do agree with that comment others have made. The seating area was dingy, brown and boring. I'm sure in Denmark, this chain is great but it didn't translate as a 'go to' destination in Guildford unfortunately.

My husband and I popped in for coffee and cake. We were served by the lovely Elysia, who went above & beyond to make our time there special. The cakes were delicious. We'll be going back. Great customer service. Thank you.

3 Staff were behind the counter, one on the phone the whole time I sat with my coffee. The cafe was very dirty with uncleared tables and shelves; the floor was dirty as well. The whole time I was there, on a Thursday, none of the staff made any effort to clear the used tables. nor wipe down dirty surfaces. I will NOT head back there when I am next in Guildford. I did not take many photos as I was the only customer, so it would have made me feel vulnerable taking photos of an empty coffee shop at circa 1130 am

Fabulous cafe. Mickey & Chloe welcomed me warmly. The food is delicious. Best cakes, tasty toasties . The sour dough is one of the nicest. It’s so good to go into a cafe and get good customer service, good food and drinks. The ambience is cosy and comfortable. Overhaul a great cafe.

I love this place. It has a lovely selection of buns and cakes. We come often for swirls and loafs for takeaway. It opens 7am, and good for buying lunch on my way for work.

Dirty, poor service, abrupt attitude, mediocre coffee. In the 45 minutes I was there not once did staff try to tidy the place or wipe frankly filthy tables. This was 9am - so no excuse of even a busy lunchtime. There were certainly enough staff but the manager was too busy drinking coffee with a friend. The barrister was lovely and I’d recommend she finds a different coffee shop that appreciates her. There is only so much she can do with mediocre coffee. Ole and Steen markets itself as more upscale location but doesn’t come close. I wonder if head office cares? Guildford has much better places.

I had a lovely first visit! 2 of the staff members in particular, Chloe and Lizzy, were so friendly and willing to help us despite it being a very busy Sunday shift. They are a credit to you.

Not for us. Ambience cold and formal. High prices, not good value. Will not be returning. But will continue tour of Guildford coffee shops to find the best for us old codgers.

Unfortunately purely by accident I took the wrong coffee and then received a dressing down from the barista. When he later came to clear the table he had a further go at me for taking the wrong coffee. It was a genuine mistake but I didn’t expect that sort of treatment in front of other customers. Needless to say I won’t be visiting this establishment again. A truly awful experience not to be repeated.
