Totally discussed with this place.. thought was coming to nice cafe to have lunch with my family.. we been waiting almost 25 minutes for our food. I asked several times why our food was taking so long????? The manager creepy kept looking behind freezer but didn't want to respond. Instead sends his girl staff to apologise for delay in food. But perfectly serving customers outside efficiently????

Our local was closed and we’d heard good things about this place so we decided to try. We ordered 2 portions of chips, a battered sausage, a mushy peas and a can of Sprite - a pretty small order all things considered. On arrival, we saw two women working there (one blonde woman and the other woman was brunette with glasses). The blonde woman was largely working behind the scenes preparing food, although was seen helping out at front of house when needed. The brunette woman was front of house. We seriously question the decision to make her front of house! She majorly lacked customer service skills. Her speed of service was very slow. She lacked warmth and humility and seemed to just wonder around aimlessly most of the time, to the point her colleague needed to step in to support. We waited for several minutes before she took our order. Whilst we don’t mind waiting, we would expect to see the staff busy. She, however, was just walking around and did not seem to be doing anything conducive. During the time we were waiting, we watched the blonde staff member shout in front of customers towards a delivery driver. Why she couldn’t have simply tapped the person’s shoulder, we’ll never know. What we saw however was the face of other waiting customers looking stunned. We also saw the brunette staff member itch her hair and then deal with food without washing her hands first. We did not see a hair net or gloves in sight. We certainly worry about food hygiene there! It took 19 minutes for our food to be ready, even though we could actually see our order sitting and waiting there for at least half of that time. It seemed the front of house’s approach was to do order by order and the order before us was much bigger. Having that we had both worked in the food industry previously, we didn’t understand why she couldn’t complete multiple orders at once, especially when the food was ready! As for the food itself, it was bland, undercooked, under seasoned and definitely not worth the money! Also, the mushy peas were so watery they didn’t even taste like mushy peas. The can of Sprite was the best part of the meal! We would not recommend and strongly advise people not to go! We certainly won’t be.

Clever place - go for fish and chips and leave it there. ordered 2 cod and chips - wasn't cod. but probably few places are. we thought excellent. mushy peas - great size portion of them. the sea food platters we saw - ting crab [legal?] - crayfish tails - Booker or Costco - miniscule lobsters - not ones swimming in the tank. not freshly caught as too small - where huge profit made. specials - unsaleable sole as so small - just avoid and have whitefish and chips. Staff lovely and place nice. trick on wine - 10% alcohol for many to lower duty - at £25 for housewine - works out at about £32 if normal strength. mr owner knows what he is doing - good luck to him but stick to whitefish and chips and this place will make you happy.

We were recommend Mark’s as the place where locals go while tourists go elsewhere within Southwold. Two cod and chips - decent portion sizes and the fish was good. Chips were really nice, just not as hot as we’d have liked which is the reason it gets 4 rather than a 5. We sat in to eat which was nice to have that option unlike a lot of places that are takeaway only.

Firstly I want to say how lovely the staff are! Really great! However… We’ve been getting take aways from here for a while and it’s always been good. My mum is visiting at the moment so we popped over yesterday to eat in. I was so disappointed. Not sure if it’s a cost cutting measure, but the chips were not ‘chippy’ chips but looked and tasted like pre-cut bought-in frozen, processed style ones. My fish was wet and mushy. It’s only a guess, but this may be a sign of it being frozen. Just under £60 for three, for a cup of tea each and three cod and chips (and one mushy peas). I don’t mind paying for good food, but not for this. It didn’t even resemble traditional fish and chips. God knows what’s going on at Eric’s but we won’t be going back!

We looked the the menu, but only wanted a sandwich, priced at over £11. We ordered a fish finger and a sausage sandwich. My fish fingers were lovely, my friend said her sausage was nothing special. I loved dogs, but there was a dog wandering around the restaurant whilst we were there. It would put a lot if people off
