We have been frequenting here for approx 2 years until today! I would like to say we come here approx once/twice a monthly! Since the “makeover” it’s gone downhill drastically and we will not be returning. The last few times we have had to encourage salt/vinegar etc to our selections which is basically the same every time. On the last visit after requesting “putting” my own salt/vinegar as i like more than the average person, was nearly the last straw as he advised sit down and ill do it the lad with the mop-style hair cut didn’t bother as was to much hassle and when i asked did you do it sorta mumbled under his breath no i forgot so i pulled him up and he said your mashing up my paper. So todays visit in nutshell “repeatedly” due to last visit as in my opinion food is decent in local area “until” today asked by “mems” to dit down and he understood i wanted to do my own salt/vinegar asked sauces etc/salad. Order was 1x medium lamb donner, 1x chicken shish medium, 1x portion chips at least 4x times i advised i would salt/vingar to my taste, 2x garlic 2x chilli sauce, 2x cokes, 2x salads Got home and had 1x donner, 1x shish, 2x cokes, no sauce/no salad , phoned up and he spoke to “chef mop head” advised on next visit to say speak to “mems” for some advice. No let me ping you a little back as its right thing to do and will “mems” be there who ever he is. Advice is DONT use here down road by coop new kebab shop “saw bridge charcoal grill” Last visit today free advice get rid of chef with no hearing or understanding of customer service i.e mop head guessing family member or shop will diminish . They used to do a nice crisp batter but no longer. This was the second time it has been thin & soggy. So soggy that when I got it home & unwrapped it, the meagre batter had stuck to the paper. The fish is still nice but I will not be going back.

The staff here are extremely rude, especially towards women, I came to order four chicken kebabs but ended up walking out, can't believe we have this behaviour in our lovely town of Sawbridgeworth. I'm so shocked.

Purchased 2 meals from the Fish Yard at Bishop's Stortford. Bank statement comes back to this Rumbles Fish Shop. Ordered 1 Large Doner Kebab, medium chips and small Haddock. The Haddock was Medium, very good. The chips were barely warm. BUT the kebab was shish, 10 pieces of lamb, 3 of which was grizzle and uneatable, no pitta bread, but over cooked Naan Bread, the salad was in a small pot of beetroot and cabbage with a pepper, 2 pots of sauce. The meat came in a very large preheatable box that a small chicken would fit. Hence the lamb was cooked off site. For £12.99 the price was 3 times more than Aldi/Lidle and required reheating. So, save £8 and buy better in the supermarket, as you will still have to reheat anyway.

Absolute vile fish bar. Staff are rude and arrogant. Changing the prices of the food on two consecutive days. Was rude and abrupt when I asked why the price had changed from the day before. He started shouting. Food was dry and undercooked. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP!! Disgusting humans .

Ok this is going to be a long one so get ready get some popcorn and drinks and read so first off let’s start off I ordered wrap a large chips and some other things for my friends which for the 3 of us were 56 pound which is ridiculous for a wrap and chips and a chicken burger and chips we were both starving so I had to get it but i regret every day of my life then it took more then 2 hours just to arrive on a Sunday that’s ridiculous plus’s they forgot the chicken burger and they got a small chips when we paid for the bigger won them when it arrived it was cold so I had to heat it up then I rang them about the chicken burger and the small chips and they said they would send both of them and 2 drinks and a kinda sorry , it arrived after a hour and a half which is ridiculous and they forgot the chips and burger and brought a kebab which on the receipt it said burger and chips I would never recommend this place to anyone plus the conditions in there when I went in there once was disgusting and the workers were rude and bossy so please save your money and health and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!

The customer service was AWFUL, they are all arrogant and rude!! They forgot some of our order and when you try and say something is missing they get angry. Made me feel as though I was causing them inconvenience by ordering food! I would NEVER use them again! 👎

Great selection, Freshly cooked. Great Kebabs as well. Always busy but very friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

After high hopes hearing of it's opening… The food is ok. Don’t go too late as you get the leftovers before lights out. PPE and cleanliness. Questionable. Staff not wearing masks. I observed a staff member adjusting a dirty piece of cardboard holding the entrance door open. Then returned to his workstation, without washing his hands and handled raw food. Staff. Completely miserable and look at you with distain when you walk in it’s a no smile zone. No obvious manager or motivation leader. Workers all seem soulless with no enthusiasm. Everyone I speak to says the same and don’t like going there because of the terrible atmosphere. Parking. Selfish customers (you know who you are) constantly COMPLETELY blocking the pavement with their vehicles, despite an on-site car park. Lack of interest by staff to even try and stop this. I’ve seen elderly people unable to pass, especially in the rain when the only option is to navigate deep puddles. So, all in all, not a very nice place to visit.

I feel sorry for members of staff who are nice in this restaurant. The main server with black hair is just horrible and rude. I hope he reads this. Shame on you for having ago at me for no apparent reason. Really spiteful. Food tastes like garbage. Sad because it used to be really nice. The delivery driver was so rude when I was trying to park in their car park, started driving at me as I was trying to drive slowly through an impossibly small gap instead of waiting patiently she starts flashing her lights and shouting at me. To then receive abuse from a member of staff in the shop. I will never ever visit this chip shop again. If you’re looking for a decent fish and chips try fish n chick n in Thorley near Sainsbury’s.

Absolutely awuful food not fresh and odd fat added that layers the roof of your mouth. They have No idea how to serve fish and chips. Service was similar to being at a night club. Don't go.

Will really never go back to this place after trying it a few times. Upon entrance, you walk in, not a single smile or welcome, in fact they look at you with distain. Hygiene poor. I saw a staff member adjusting the cardboard propping open the front door, hands all over the floor and then returning to handle salad without washing his hands. Doesn’t seem like there’s an effective Team Manager or Leader. Staff look completely disinterested. Parking. Even though they’ve got a good sized car park, they've done nothing to stop customers parking and blocking the pavement directly in front. So many residents in London Road are fed up with it, especially since they have their own car park. Food. I wouldn’t eat there due to the poor hygiene. From what I’ve tried, mediocre. Essentially every objection made to East Herts Planning has come true - surprise.

This place is an utter joke. Supposedly shuts at 10, but any time after 9 they’re cleaning up, and all they have is leftovers. No fresh chips/fish/kebabs, maybe a couple of saveloys that’ve been sitting in a heated counter for god knows how long if you’re lucky. Shame cos when they opened they were great. Rude and ignorant staff. They should just close earlier.

Always get our takeaway fish and chips from here. Lovely pickled onions as well. Good potion sIzes and friendly faces.

I ordered online to collect.When I arrived there was a big queue outside and no indication as to where to collect the ordered. There were about 10 people waiting in the shop non of which were wearing masks. They said they could not find my order and I was told I had probably ordered it for a different restaurant. After showing him my phone he eventually found it.They seem to be finding difficult to manage online orders together with walk in customers. Very rude man..totally disorganised. No social distancing..no hand gel..no one wearing masks.

Nice fish and chips and pie and chips to eat in. Well cooked and service was good too. We sat at a clean table and the social distancing was observed.

The take away was over run with 35-40 people inside and out the proprietors where not stopping them. In addition the staff 5 in total where wearing no ppe serving food. Several people where coughing. Days before I had been to the restaurant and 3staff not wearing ppe where serving. They charged our card twice for our meal which is why we had to return handing out cash with no gloves and serving food. As I said several people where coughing and signs of potential covid like symptoms. Not one staff member said anything just kept serving. Disgrace.

It was no surprise when I found out that this was hand made on the premises. Overall meal size was on point, I could not recommend this meal enough. Next time I'm going to try the fish.

I don't like to give negative reviews on my first visit, however, I've been here 4 times and each time has let me down.Most recent was this month with my son on way to Harlow, my son ordered chips, onion rings & southern fried chicken, over £10 (he's a growing lad). He couldn't eat any if it, neither could I. The chicken smelt fatty, the onion rings soggy and the whole meal was greasy. I was let down again. Returned home and binned the lot. I hate wasting food! So needless to say I won't be returning. The place looks clean, the staff are polite so not a terrible review, just poor food quality.

Perhaps got it on a bad day, having had positive reports about I tried it on a late afternoon and was disappointed with the quality of both the Fish and the Chips.I will use the Queens Head from now on as their Take-Away service is excellent.

When you order a kebab, it's just meat in a box, and they don't offer salad. Remember to ask for pita and salad, but it costs extra.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Fish and chips + Kebabs. Service is quick and professional. The only downside to the place are the number of "yuts" hanging around.

Just gone in at 9pm for a donner kebab, they’ve run out!!! Looks like they can’t be bothered to put a new one on. I’m sure tomorrow they’ll have one on but... they still have 1 hour before they close, won’t bother going back again. It used to be great but since it’s been taken over it has gone downhill. I have had many a takeaway from rumbles but over the last 2 times it has been terrible. I’m not sure why has gone on but the food is never hot. As it stands I wouldn’t recommend.

Think they are the only fish and chips in town but they are fantastic. People come from all over to buy their kebabs and fish and chips. Cooked to order as always in high demand, fresh and tasty.

Whilst visiting Sawbridgeworth from Spain we wanted good fish and chips and these were absolutely brilliant. The service was quick and friendly even though they were busy. The fish and chips were fresh out of the fryer to order. We thoroughly enjoyed our treat. Well done to all and keep up the good work.

Went to pay after my order and told the prices had gone up. When I queried the price as per the price on display I was told they hadn’t got round to it yet? Bad customer service so I went elsewhere since.

Not a great meal. Sorry couldn’t use here again. Got fish, chips, pie. Fish I asked for was large, but looking at what I got it was small. Chips were cold, as if they had been cooked a long time ago and tried to keep warm. Pie was ok. Parked in car park off road, only to get blocked in by other customers parking on road over the car park entrance!

Staff rude. Food was cold and leaked everywhere. Charged £15 for a small chicken kebab and a portion of chips with salad.

Visited yesterday. Great to find a plaice with tasty batter, option to sit down & eat it with food freshly cooked to order. Opening times are great meaning you don’t have to rush to make conventional lunchtime. Really filled us up. Definitely worth travelling there from Stortford. Apparently they also serve alcohol til 9 pm.

Great tasting food and they do dry ribs especially for my husband. He loves them and I love the the plaice, yummy.

Rumbles fish bar has a good choice of meals, from traditional Fish and Chips to Kebabs, Burgers etc. The food, staff, and the service is very good and the portions more than enough. You will not be disappointed.

Had the cod with chips - really nice. Made fresh to order, the batter was crispy and the fish tasted fresh. Chips were good too, perfect consistency. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 is that I found the malt vinegar VERY weak, I suspect they dilute it with water.

This has very nice food and makes a lovely traditional dinner, it's also one of the best chip shops in that area. It's great for food on the go I'd admit, it's like a normal chip shop but 100 percent delicious food.

Following a walk along the canal needed something to eat and drink so decided on a portion of chips. The chips were very good and plenty of them!. Two portions of chips and 2 tins of drink £5.80 excellent value. Would return.

I've been to Rumbles numerous times since it opened three years ago. It started off really good, couldn't recommend it enough. Though since, it has been hit and miss. The staff are normally friendly and usually get your order right. The food is pretty good but sometimes can be a bit iffy, though the last few months it's been pretty decent. All in all I would recommend Rumbles, I think they've listened to the reviews and got their food back on track.

Super quality fish & chips and best of all the chips are a decent size, not skinny & shrapnel like chips like a certain fish shop in Bishops’s Stortford continues to serve whenever we have been desperate for a quick takeaway. Definitely worth the short drive from Bishop’s Stortford to Sawbridgeworth for quality fresh cooked fish, chicken or a kebab & best of all decent size chips. We have always received a friendly welcome with excellent service whenever we’ve been in this spotlessly clean fish & chip shop and would recommend this shop to anyone.

I have yet to enter this establishment and not see fresh food being skillfuly prepared and appetisingly laid out. The Kebad salads are not to be beaten, extremely fresh, crispy and full of flavour. Ask for the salad and sauces to be put in separate containers? Not a problem, it will all arrive home as fresh as it left the shop. Just the mention of kebab in this house will mean someone will have to go and collect!

I have been to Rumbles Fish Bar several times now and have never had a bad experience. The food is of good quality and the place is very clean and tidy. The prices are relatively cheap and the customer service from the guys that work there is great. Very friendly.Cash and Card Payments accepted; although orders under £5 or £10 incur a charge for using card payment I believe (it's not much).To summarise; Rumbles is a good, local, friday night takeaway idea!

Great tasting food and reasonable pricing. It does get really busy but it's worth it and the Chicken is fantastic.

Now Rumbles is in Sawbridgeworth I wouldn't buy my fish & chips anywhere else. The food is always well cooked. It's good value for money (the portions are very generous) and the staff are very friendly.

This place was very good when it first opened but it now looks like thay are cutting corners. Our 2 pieces of fish had a soggy batter that was so weak & thin it did not even manage to cover all of the fish. A huge disappointment. Make sure you check the fish before they wrap it up.

The service here is superb the food is amazing and the staff are friendly, funny and professional. I have bought food from here for myself which is always delicious and piping hot. I have also bought food here for a special needs social group that I run. They have been brilliant at getting the large order ready on time and each order was clearly labelled which was integral in making distribution smooth. I am always amazed at how efficiently all the staff the staff work together. Long queues disappear so quickly, quite simply the best takeaway in Hertfordshire.

Was a bit weary of Rumbles when it first opened. Sawbridgeworth is a nice quiet village and then suddenly you have this neon signed chip shop that sells kebabs on the main road and you think you're in London.The shop is divided into two, kebabs to the left and 'proper' fish n chips to the right. So if you fancy just a kebab, you don't have to join the lengthy queues by the chip counter, move to the left and place your order and wait till its cooked.Always weary about Doner kebab, but have to say, I have never had a bad one yet. No gristle and always well cooked. Good range of salad to go with it.The fish is usually cooked to order so you may have to wait. There's always good banter with the staff especially if they speak English!The fish and chips are always tasty, never had a bad meal from there.The only downfall is you are encouraged to park in the their car park at the rear of the premises. This is quite narrow so people tend to park outside the shop which either slows the traffic down or gets in the way of pedestrians.

Popped in here late evening on the strength of reviews. Really wish I hadn't and kept driving to Harlow for a KFC or McDs..... yes it was that bad!Not much left in the window, so had some items made fresh for me. They were willing to do so (unlike another review on here!), but looked begrudgingly at me when asked.The fish although fresh from the fryer was bland and tasteless, with what seemed like a very generic 'cash and carry' batter.Sausages and the pie we also got, were also of the generic type and nothing special.With a portion of chips which were alright but nothing to rave about, the total bill came to over £10 which isn't exactly great value for what is in essence frozen food.Having spent a great deal of time in Scotland, I know a decent fish and chips and this was far from it. Even an average restaurant up north, would have fish delivered in fresh every other day with freshly made batter of their own creation, hand cut potatoes in the shop (not frozen!), and all served with a smile.Some may say my expectations are set a little high, but if you're going to be charging me over £10 for a meal that was by and large disappointing, expect some criticism.

Having visited this take away restaurant when it first opened and then at least weekly thereafter, I was initially very impressed. Good food, friendly service. However, during the last few months the standard of food has fallen. The friendly smiles and banter have gone. Closing time is stated as 11PM but if you visit after 9.30PM the selection of food is very hit and miss and the staff not interested in cooking anything.I have tried to order a Doner Kebab at 10PM and been told 'all we have is what's there', referring to the hot cabinets on the counter. This consisted of a few rather well done fish cakes and a pie. I asked about cooking some fish but told none was left. I was left with an impression nobody could actually be bothered but that might be unfair. This week I was lucky as Doner Kebab meet was available but the very limited salad selection was oily and I suspect had been sitting there a good while. I risked it and wished I hadn't, the meal was appalling and the lot went into the bin when I got home.Prior to posting here I raised some of these issues directly with the manager who told me I should come in earlier. The fact it was an hour and a half before posted closing time was frustrating, feeling they should either provide a service or not.In summary, this establishment seems to have lost its way. They will only sell food that is left over if they are perhaps not in the mood to cook or want to go home? This might be in some way understandable late at night but mid-evening is really unacceptable. This is a far cry from the great service and food we had in the beginning. I have had enough, or perhaps not enough, and won't be going back to Rumbles.

Get a large cod and chips for £7.50 easy feeds to adults, BARGAIN. Kebabs are great too. You can ring and preorder if you are in a hurry.

This is by far the best fish and chips around, freshly cooked and always served with a big smile. Their kebabs are to die for, fresh, flame grilled, you gotten try .

The worst of it, 3 out of the 4 pineapples rings must have been sitting in a tin in the cool room for a week because they tasted rusty. The 4th one was fine. I hate to give a bad review, particularly as these guys are there everyday slogging it out but, bring back the chippy that takes pride in good fish and chips and doesn't try and do everything - I'm sure these guys kebabs are great, but the fish and chips are second rate.

Stick to basics and you'll do well. Fish and chips is a superb choice, no vijazzling here, just good honest food. Decent portions too. If you have the patience to wait, the kebabs are pretty good, but the chili sauce is a bit mild. Staff are great.

Overpriced rubbish. Very disappointed. Soggy chips and overcooked fish. I just wasted £17.50. This place is nowhere as busy as when it first opened. The novelty has worn off.

This is really close to home so a regular stop for us. The kebabs are really nice and as a treat I love sharing chicken nuggets and chips with my daughter. We highly recommend this takeaway.

I love this place,,,i am a very fussy eater and i always have skinless cod and they have never let me down on this.The staff are friendly and always up for a laugh when your waiting for your fresh to order food.cant understand the negative reviews (albeit only 3!)trust you taste pallet i can assure you that you wont be let down!

Living on Thorley, Bishop's Stortford, whenever we've needed a quick takeaway we've gone local and always regretted it afterwards as most times we got greasy battered fish and soggy shrapnel like chips. But not anymore due to us visiting for the first time this superb fish bar in Sawbridgeworth which was well worth the slightly longer car ride.The chips are a decent size almost on par with Aldeburgh's finest and the fish was well cooked and tasty.As for the portion size, at last a local chip shop giving a decent portion of non greasy large chips to go with the fish.As a certain aging film star would say, "We'll be back" !

Great fish bar in Sawbridgeworth, most of the time fish is cooked to order so you may have to wait....good size piece's of fish all so exelent kebabs and friendly service. I would recommend.

Have had fish and chips from Rumbles before and they have definitely improved. Fish was fresh and tasty, and the batter which had previously tasted oily was 100% better. Chips were hot and delicious, portions are very generous.

This is by far the place to go for a takeaway in Sawbridgeworth. Superb food, great meal deals, and most important brilliant service. Top marks from me. :)

This takeaway has been in sawbridgeworth for a year or so now, part of a chain I am led to believe, they do tha best they humanly can, unfortunately I don't think they use FRESH fish and it's noticeable.. I had pubs for 35 years and over that time went to Billingsgate for our fish. The difference between fresh and fish which has been frozen at sea is massive. You can taste the sea from fresh haddock, I had 2 large haddock last nite and it was over cooked and tasteless. Get FRESH fish chaps, charge the 50 per cent extra and I will come back. Sawbridgeworth is not the place for a seaside fish and chip shop..

Lovely fish cooked perfectly and really nice crisp chips. Definitely worth a visit.Kids have had burgers which they also recommend.

This was the first time we had tried this chippy as normally use hatfield heath. The chips were very greasy and literally glistening with grease. The cod batter was not very crispy and they leave the skin on the cod. The cod in batter was also greasy. We also ordered 2 pieces of southern fried chicken which didn't taste great and the coating didn't have a southern fried taste. Will be back to hatfield heath which is highly recommended for me.

Go when it is at its busiest, you need to wait but the food is at its best, and its best is very very good. (Going in slow periods is never a good idea for fast food; order something not already cooked if you do).

we have been here on two or three occasions. We only live a short distance from the shop each time we get home food is cold. The staff have a habit of ignoring women and serving the next person. Will not be returning

Rumbles serve the best fish and chips in the area. Lovely menu and everything cooked to order. Hubby had a chicken kebab which he said was delicious and they even put the salad in a separate tupperware so the pitta didn't get soggy. Friendly happy staff and spotless shop.

Love this new chippy. Always crispy and tasty. Seating inside too if you want to eat in. Burgers and kebabs too...just great.

Freshly cooked tasty food and excellent quality. The menu choice is extensive and considering most of the food is cooked to order the service is fast and worth any wait. The portion sizes are large so makes the price good value for money. Naughty but worth every calorie!

Got a takeaway last night 3 pieces of cod 2 sasages and two lots of chips £19. 20 very good price and was very nice not the best I have ever had but will give it another try in a couple of weeks .very fast service with one person serving the food and one taking the money .

Good selection of fish. Well cooked although batter tasted a bit oily. Takeaway service is good and food was still hot when we got home.

I have eaten from Rumbles a few times, and I either get a nice bit of fish, or the tail end, which is not as nice. Chips are good though and the portion sizes are very generous. All in all, for a chippy, it isn't bad and I would recommend giving it a go!
