Frydays in St Albans

Tried soooo many times to order from here but every single time, they cancel it. God knows why. But I give up now

Large fish came tiny and paid more for large and also raw fish and batter not cooked...still runny! Chips not cooked properly and items missing. Could not eat any of it! Absolutely disgusting...I'm annoyed I even have to put one star. Please don't buy from here!

ordered a delivery from uber eats. The delivery was late for starters by almost an hour and turned up with items missing. they claimed they had tried to call me to tell me they did not have any hash brown fries, they had not, and instead substituted them with overcooked dry curly fries which were inedible. the classic chips with my fish looked like they had been cooked yesterday, pale, dry, cold and unpleasant. the kalamari rings looked like onion rings, flavourless and tasted like cardboard, no fish flavour at all. 4th of july burger was old, dry, overcooked and looked and felt like it was cooked yesterday. the 4th of july hotdog was raw and the bun was obviously stale, i could have broken a window with it! Mac and Cheese bites were powdery and the jalapeno poppers were over cooked and tasted like they had freezer burn = inedible. The French Fries could not be eaten as they were chewy old and disgusting I have never felt the need to leave a review this bad for ANY restaurant, however I have just paid £70 for food that is entirely inedible and I do not want any other consumer to have this kind of appalling food delivered for their hard earned cash. absolutely disgusted with this meal

Fries were excellent will try more on the menue next visit .All food prepared fresh to order .

Frydays is No more at best in St Albans it was a just about average fish and chip shop I wish that could be said of the Truly Awful establishment it has turned into I ordered a Lamb Burger and chips it was not cooked properly and came with Melted Cheese and Bacon on it ! On LAMB!!

Loved the food, fish and chips came in a box which was brilliant and very large portions. Delivery was a bit slow due to them being busy but was worth the wait. Very satisfied.

pescado y patatas fritas desde aquí un par de veces en los últimos meses. La primera vez que fuimos a recoger y la pasta en el pescado estaba un poco exageradas. La segunda vez nos dieron una entrega y fue mucho mejor. Patatas fritas generalmente bueno, pero nada especial.

Delivery time was much better than expected however quality of food was not. Large cod was tiny, flat and very greasy and two large portions of chips were more like small with most being crispy and cold.

Food is freshly cooked tastes perfect I find it to be reasonably priced. The owner is a lovely guy so friendly defiantly worth the Walk down there

The fish was not fresh. Shame as last time we ordered from here the food was lovely, but the fish was not edible, it was mushy rather than breaking apart like cod should. Rest of meal nice

Food was good but weird sized portions (two small fillets and some extra bits - (ordered two large cods) - and dissapointed that there was no salt or vingers on the chips or fish when I added a note to ask for LOTS of salt and vinHey how was your New Years Eve?ger. Conocí al nuevo propietario de los viernes no mucho después ella tomó más, nunca capturado su nombre, pero él era un hombre encantador. Ayer, después de un duro día verdaderamente (y ser agotado muletas) que lo intenté llevar a la orden de un sitio. Cuando eso se cayó a través de i llamado Frydays. No sólo mi pedido por teléfono, se ofrecieron a domicilio gratis, aunque mi pedido bajo el costo normal. Rápido y amable señora de entrega y la comida estaba caliente. Perfecto.Gracias Frydays! Usted siempre puede volver en nuestra casa!

Cooked to order. Perfectly cooked fresh cod. Chicken bites made from real chicken breast. Bìg fries portions. Service with a smile. And Sundays are frydays too.

The chips are easily the worst chips I've ever had in my life. They were so hard we couldn't eat them. Delivery was fairly quick but the food was horrific. Oh the peas tasted nice.

Friendly service from Ric who has taken over, I don't eat wheat, so tried his gluten free cod, which was yummy! My partner was very happy with his pie & chips too! Chips are great, couldn't fault the food. And delivery is very handy!

Decent but expensive & portions could be bigger. There are better chippies a bit further out of town that justify a short drive (eg The Ridgeway)

Food wasn't good, was only "just" warm, stale, and basically the worst chippy iv ever had! Cheap in cost, reflected in the food.. Sad times!

This "chippie" is under new management and on the one occasion that I have bought fish'n'chips since, all is well.

Visit here quite often, love the fresh fish and good portion sizes. Staff always happy, polite and happy to chat.

Our order arrived in great time and food was lovely. I have been a regular customer and this was my first time using thier delivery service. I was missing a portion of chips from my order and had to wait 10 mins before I could eat my meal. By this time, the rest had started to go cold.

Este pescado y tienda de chips es simplemente la mejor. El precio era increíble, la comida incluso mejor y el propietario era un caballero completo, que obviamente se preocupa por sus clientes. Mi hija es celíaco y fuimos aquí como él hace sin gluten peces gratis. Sin cargo extra - de cargo ahora que es una primera!!Para usar mis hijas frase, la comida estaba cerrando!!!! Jaja.

Great food, all made fresh to order, so can be a bit of a wait but it's still the best chippy in St. Albans.

This place has improved massively since changing ownership recently. Definitely worth a visit.

Great to see the new management doing such a good job as central St Albans has been missing a great chippy! Freshly cooked and tasted great.

Went to St. Alban's to visit family & ended up in Frydays. The food was great quality & cooked to order and the staff were lovely too. Would definitely recommend it!! See you next time we're in St. Alban's!

Bought my son his tea from here, frydays is under new management and was spot on. New owner cares about his customers, everything is cooked fresh with each order, highly recommend, food was lovely, will definitely be returning

It may be better on a weekday but we went on sunday evening and there was 1 man working there on his own. He really couldn't cope and what we thought was going to be fast food took around 30-40 mins to cook and serve. They weren't even that busy. One family before us were waiting ages and it turned out they only ordered chips. The food was passable but the service was bad.

Ended up here after trying 4 other places as it was the only place I could find open on a Sunday. "Large cod" was small compared to competitors, the batter was horrible, and the chips were greasy. Won't be back.

Absolutely Rubbish I went in today Saturday 15th Feb and ordered small cod and chips and a curry sauce. The chips tasted and looked liked they'd been re-cooked from the day before and the cod was completely over cooked and chewy. The curry sauce was like water as well. The only place they went is the bin. Thoroughly peeved and I've taken pictures of the food as I will be going in to complain. This place used to be good but it's totally hit and miss now and I won't be going there again, instead I'll be going to London Colney or Cheongs which is out of the way but at least not a complete waste of money.

Very disappointing - went in on a Sunday night, v. quiet. Fish (2 large cod) cooked to order. They were badly overcooked - extremely dark batter, the greasiest I've ever had and my wife's fish didn't look cooked (not fully defrosted??). To cap it all the chips were badly over salted but they weren't bad. Won't be going there again - I should have taken more notice of the previous reviewer.

We go to Fryday's every week,we phone our order through and we only have to wait a few minutes if at all for our order which is hot and fresh I would reccomend this place

The service is good, price is ok
