Best fish and chips around, Chinese food available too. However, today, they opened the doors after 12 when opening time is stated as 1145am on the door. The assistant did not know why they opened late. She assured me she would speak with the owner. I explained to her that 6 potential customers walked into nearby food premises due to them not being opened. Busiest time of day, and nothing was cooked yet.

egg fried rice is white with peas and bits of egg not brown mush. chicken ? thick sliced pieces from probably iceland yuk waste of money just cant get decent takeaways anymore

Food is terrible really disgusting, Egg fried rice looks like it's been lift for days, Most of the chips are rotten all black ends on them, Really gone down the hill, Im really upset 💯 percent never be eating from there again, Avoid 💯

This place used to be 1 of the best chips shop but nowadays they going downhill

Not sure if pearl is still there but ordered twice now and food has not been like it has. The crispy chilli beef was soggy and in a thick tomato sauce and the noodles were so Stuck together it all just went in the bin. I won’t be ordering again i’d rather pay a bit more and go to sams.

Second time in here. But from what I observed, the place needs a clean. Plus the staff is just concerned about taking as many orders as they can, so the waiting time is so long. Food wise is nice and tasty to be honest

Beautifully flavoured food whether it be fish and chips or Chinese. Very friendly staff and great prices too. Definitely recommend.

Incredibly greasy, soggy fish and chips. The oil consumes all the batter and the chips are wet and tasteless. A very dissatisfied customer.

Simply love fish and chips and especially Chinese from this place. Been eating from here, often on a Friday, for over 20years. Always generous portions. Regularly changed oil for frying and for me, fresh and delicious every time!

This is one of the best fish and chip shops ever. It is always good and the service is excellent Also, the Chinese takeaway is second to none. Consistently excellent food and very reasonably priced My only one disappointment is that they stopped delivering, but won’t stop me getting takeaways here 100% recommend this place

We have had fish and chips and Chinese food. Excellent Curry box, and the sweet and sour prawns are excellent . Also a very decent Spam Fritter .

Extremely good quality both the fish and the chips. They also have a small range of Chinese dishes should you prefer that but don't miss out on the great fish and chips

Love this place. Have been a customer for about ten years now. Can not rate them enough. Family run, Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent service, extremely fair prices! Best barbecue sauce around!! Chips are perfect and they do scraps which so many other chip shops no longer seem to do. The Chinese food is amazing as well as the fish and chip side. Saved us on so many occasions. Thank you!!

Ordered chicken,chips and a spring roll. I had to wait 25 minutes for the chicken! Got home and she hadn't given me the spring roll. To make matters worse, the chicken was so over cooked,couldn't eat half of it, very poor

I ordered chicken, chips and a spring roll this evening. I had to wait 25 mins for my take away! When I got home I discovered they hadn't even put the spring roll in my order. The chicken was so over cooked I could barely consume it. Very disappointed. I have noticed the service has been getting worse and worse recently and I would definitely not recommend.

There was a major electrical power outage in the London Colney area last night, so after a couple of hours of feeling cold & wanting a hot meal, I decided to get some takeaway food from the above place, which mainly sells fish & chips, but also has a comprehensive Chinese food menu.There was a long queue & they were clearly exceptionally busy. I ordered Sweet & Sour pork balls, Chicken Chow Mein, 2 portions of egg fried rice and a portion of chips.After a very long wait, my food arrived and I left for home, about 5 minutes drive away.On unpacking the food it was barely lukewarm, but even worse, it tasted really bad.The sweet & sour pork balls were mainly horrible thick, partly cooked batter, with bits of some meat, mainly fat and no sweet & sour sauce at all, so very dry. The Chow Mein was slightly more edible, but again almost cold, plus the egg-fried rice was horrible and unlike any egg-fried rice we've had before. To add insult to injury, we couldn't even heat the food, as we had no power for the oven or micro-wave. The bottom line is that we threw 80% of the food in the bin. On the up side, the chips were very nice, albeit barely warm !We don't like leaving negative reviews, particularly for local places, but in this case we both felt something had to be said. It's an even greater pity, as the lady owner of the place is really lovely and is Chinese, so I can't believe she would want her food going out like this.We've had Chinese food from here previously and it's been fine.I appreciate it was a particularly busy night with the areas' power outage, but this food fell well below acceptable standards, plus this morning my tummy is not good !I hope this review is taken as intended, constructive feedback, as we want to support all local businesses so that they may prosper and be around a long time, but we felt this feedback was valid, given the really poor food we received last night. Sorry.

Family run and friendly. Fish and chips are freshly cooked. Good choice of Chinese and very helpful. Definitely worth a visit. The curry sauce is amazing and best I’ve ever had!

Great traditionally made chip shop Chinese food, proper chips and Pearl is so happy it's a pleasure going there. I'm moving soon and will miss my local chippy but will make a special trip! The best for miles, thanks pearl xx

Staying at premier inn ... I decided to take food back to hotel.Stopped at this fish and chip shop. To get chips etc...They did Chinese food!!Well I have to say it was one of the best Chinese foods I have ever had.Tasty hot and fresh. The chicken balls were plentiful and were lovely. Chicken chow mien was tasty and the Special rice was nice. So many spare ribs. It was lovely not sure about the chips as didn't have any...will have to try them next time.

Ordered food I was told 15 minutes max I waited 1 hour then when I got home with my food 1 of the dishes wasn’t there one was my friends and the other was suppose to be mine but when I rang and told about the situation it was all about money somebody else ordered food after me and because they apparently spent double money for there’s I was told that’s why I had too wait longer there order had too come before mine I’ve been using that same place for a couple of year always had problems waiting but never treated the way I was tonight especially speaking to the owner my opinion you don’t put orders if you can’t have them ready on time and 1 hour waiting the owner was very rude I didn’t think that was normal

I am loyal so always try and use local independent businesses when I can.Each and every time I give Pearls the benefit of the doubt I am let down.5 star reviews on here are misleading.Tonight’s over priced offerings of dry and reheated pork was insulting.I will not be returning

Trust me when I tell you this, I have travelled far and wide and no where comes close to the genuinely great fish and chips taste you will savour. Absolutely delicious and worth every penny.

These people have been around for years. I first went there as a young man - those were the days. They really do good grub. Honest and fast food, delicious too! Good value and happy cheerful staff. A gem!

Do not be fooled from the outside! This little delight serves great food at VERY reasonable prices. Pop in at least once a week for either the fish and chips or chinese (depending on mood!). Very friendly staff.....family run takeaway.

I have been frequenting this place for decades. The food is as delicious as it's ever been. The staff are friendly and the pricing is very fair.

New Ocean Fish Bar did 60 servings of fish goujons and chips for a party. Pearl couldn't do enough for me. She was SO helpful and the food was very reasonably priced. On the night, they delivered the fish and chips to our house on time and wrapped them in little parcels. The food was absolutely delicious and there were so many wonderful comments from the guests. Thank you New Ocean!!

Chips and Savaloy good without fail

used to live in london colney then moved into st albans. havnt found a chinese i like in st albans and tried a few. now i drive to london colney to get it. really nice food. cheap prices and pearl isl ovely

As local we went to open potion of chips on a sunny evening. The chips were great and nice and hot and as good as anyone especially with the kids who can walk and great. Great service as always well worth it
