Excellent cod chips and mushy peas. Excellent friendly service and spotlessly clean. Perfect cup of tea too. My 19 yr old son and I wiped our plates clean😁

Great, honest fish and chop shop. Service was good, food was cooked to order, was hot when eaten. Price was good also.

Unfortunately this isn't what It used to be, the portion is very small for the price. Especially compared to the rest of this town. The chips were alright but nothing to write home about. I don't think you'd believe me If I were to say this is a medium for £3, £1.80 for the sausage.

These are by miles the best fish and chips in Felixstowe. There cooked to perfection and this place has a real nice oldie weldie feeling to it . As the chips are cooking in oil and not lard there able to be eaten by everyone and don't leave that horrible texture in your mouth .

Real seaside Fish and Chips!! Excellent quality fish cooked beautifully and nicely presented at a reasonable price.... perfect to eat from the gardens overlooking the sea. And cooked in vegetable oils not dripping. They do have a restaurant next door which is currently closed would be good if it reopened

Regular stop off on the way to the shore. Usually a short queue, but worth the wait. Like everything, getting more expensive.

Very safe, good menu, crisp fish! They are impressive in two ways: The menu has more than just Cod or Haddock. It is very hard to come by F&C where they do other fish. I love their plaice. Cooked at your order and wow, so crisp and clean oil. It is difficult to get plaice cooked to its perfection but they have never disappointed me. And they take extra care for Covid-19. Only one customer in the shop at any one time despite that they are huge inside for a F&C and I can feel the safest in this shop than any shops where I have been, I mean not only all F&C but any shops in UK. They take real good care for Health and Safety. The team works very efficiently and the shop is kept super clean. Very impressive a hidden and low key shop. Highly recommended. Hope they can keep on thriving for years to come, a rare find.

EXPENSIVE!...£5.50 for a regular..(not large) piece of haddock...the large portion of chips I ordered separately was the tiniest amount I've ever seen.. I honestly felt I'd been ripped off☹..there are better chippys in Felixstowe that will give you alot more for you're money...you've been warned!

The type of Chippy which only opens for a couple hrs at lunch time n a few hrs in the eve (as they don't need/want to b open longer) with locals Queuing up out the door... What more is there to say, other than the fish n Chips are cooked to order and are amazing

I thought the fish was greasy, the chips were soggy, beans were cold+ not a wide range of drinks Found staff very un welcoming wouldn't go back there again.

A sunny day at the seaside,a nice wander up in to the town,you get the delight wafting from a "fish & chip" shop,there is only one thing to do. Yes,make your way in and order,all be it under Covid conditions during 2020. But after a brief wait,our meals arrived,and we went and sat in one of the many seating areas in this delightful Suffolk town. Summing up,I asked one of the locals if the "Orwell Fisheries" was any good, & I was assured that it was worth using.(so thank you to the lady). Really enjoyed them,and would certainly visit again,hopefully when we can all just walk in & maybe sit down in the restaurant and relax.

Left a lot to be desired this time and it's now mighty expensive, won't be rushing back

Worst Fish and Chips I have ever had. I had phoned up and pre ordered Haddock. No way was this Haddock. It was an oblong shape of some description -not even fish shaped - looks like it was possibly cod that had been cut in half. Batter poor. Very little of it, soggy and tasteless. The fish was dry and chewy. 1 piece of fish that they passed off for Plaice, 1 piece of fish they passed off as haddock, 2 potions of poorly cooked chips £15 A real rip off. Unfortunately didn't realise until we got them home otherwise would have rejected them at the time

Used to go here to eat in as well as takeaway, couldn't beat it 20 years ago. Had it twice now in 3 months and today was the very last time. The last time it was busy and we gave them the benefit of doubt but this time it was atrocious, if i hadnt drove 2 mile to eat it i would have taken it straight back. Unwrapped them in the car and instantly got grease on my jeans. both bits of cod were swimming in their little poly containers, the fish was grey, sloppy, and greasy as hell, and considering the extortionate price they were tiny. Chips were cold and soft. nowhere near worth the money and the wait for it to be cooked 'fresh'. Woman who serves you has got no enthusiasm or personality at all and insisted on wrapping every item up individually in poly containers. Greta would be so proud of you ! We paid over £13 for 2 small pieces of cod, i small chips and a small bottle of water, SCANDALOUS !!

Truly awful, over £13 for 2 small cod, 1 small chips, and a small bottle of water. Had to wait for it to be cooked so thought it was going to be a nice fresh bit of cod and chips. How wrong could i have been, grey sloppy small cod swimming in grease with cold soggy chips. All served by a woman who obviously has no communication skills whatsoever. NEVER AGAIN ! this shop was the best in the town 20 years ago, worse now than mannings on the front.

Took my granddaughter as she loves fish, it came as a square, dripping in grease, and the fish was not in flakes it was stringy. Didn’t look anything like fish. The batter was not crispy it was soggy with grease. The chips were absolutely tasteless. The wait was certainly not worth it. Avoid this place at all costs.

I expect customer service in a chip shop to be fairly informal but the old lady behind the till was just rude throughout our visit. Needless to say the food was not anything special and we certainly won’t be going back again.

Went here today with the wife. Wasnt that impressive. Chips were fine but the Cod we had looked like a standard large cod cut in half but still nearly £5 for that half bit of cod. I was expecting it to be somthing out of this world for that. It was not the most fresh bit of fish. Wasnt concerned it was gonna make me ill but there is much better chippys in Felixstowe...

We decided to try Orwell Fisheries restaurant, we weren't disappointed. It is small but we joined a table with to other people,making six as we were with friends. Service was good and my friend and I even had a gin and tonic. It wasnt to far from The Spa Pavilion . Nice and easy to stroll to see a show after having a lovely meal. We will definitely go back.

The customer service at this chip shop is non-existent! There is an elderly lady behind the counter who clearly needs to retire as she hates her job and people in general. She greets you with a “YES?”, I ordered 2 sausages and 1 portion of chips, she said she would have to check if I could have the sausages(??), she then grumpily said yes ok. We then waited a good 10-15 minutes, she then tried to give us sausage and chips twice, my husband said no only 1 chips, to which she replied “well if you say 2 sausage and chips it means 2 portions of chips”. My husband pointed out that I didn’t say that I clearly said 2 sausage and 1 chips. She muttered under her breath. My husband said you don’t need to be so rude about it, she just carrying on muttering. The sausage and chips weren’t even that nice. I can’t believe how utterly rude this woman is, go to one of the other many chip shops in Felixstowe which is what we are going to do from now on.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions with my father. It's a basic cafe type restaurant with a limited menu that serves well cooked fish and chips. Service is usually prompt (at lunchtimes) but depends on how busy the kitchen is. The kitchen is the take away fish and chips shop next door.

Went to use the restaurant with my family and told no buggies allowed and sent straight out! Won't return

If shopping in Hamilton Road then a slight detour into Orwell Road will bring you to this restaurant and take-away that never fails to satisfy all that go there. Excellent service, friendly staff, even a good cuppa is on hand. Prices are reasonable, matching the quality of the food. Always busy especially at lunch times.

Staff treat you like dirt unless local. Not recommended.

The staff here are miserable and rude. The chips are OK but everything else is way over cooked, like eating old boots. 18/05/2018 The old lady was very rude to my missus, embarrassing her in front of customers. Oh Btw, don't buy curry sauce, it's awful, not a clue what it's made of.

been going for years but lately chips are pale soggy undercooked and slimey fish normally good usually leave chips which is a waste of money time after time they don't improve don't they see reviews !!!

My parents used to bring our children here for a treat in the summer in the 80's! It has not changed a bit and the decor, always spotlessly clean and tidy, would now be considered almost vintage. This is not 'fine dining' or 'contemporary', however you can expect beautifully cooked fish and chips. And, a cup of tea and bread and butter if you wish!

They serve children's portions off chips but not fish. They offer fish cakes as a substitute .They say all fish portions are pre cut to size. All they have to do is chop one in half

Best fish and chips our work group ate during our 12 day stint in Felixstowe. Ate freshly made chips on our first visit and returned specifically due to the excellent quality. Good service, tasty food in a clean environment.Well done and thanks.

Overcooked greasy old fish swimming in grease, undercooked chips, worst curry sauce ever. Tried ringing to complain but not answering phone, did not want to drive all the way back in case closed. Will defo not be going back again.

El olor a pescado y patatas fritas fue irresistible, así apareció en para el almuerzo. Parece que el restaurante es popular como tuvimos que esperar por un asiento. Bien merece la pena esperar, Abadejo era excelente y precioso patatas fritas. Regados con una taza de té de la comida abundante y bien de precio genial.

whilst waiting for my dog to be groomed thought i would have some fish and chips for lunch.sadly i chose the wrong place, the fish was really greasy and the chips were broken and soggy

Yo estaba en mi propio para el almuerzo y decidimos visitar este restaurante. Sólo unos 28 cubre, compuesto de mesas para 4 y 6 pero fue bienvenido a sentarse en una para 4 lugares. Me sirvió dos camareras diferentes que eran agradables y eficientes y obviamente sabía algunos de sus clientes habituales. Pedí el bacalao y patatas fritas con un rollo y mantequilla y un vaso de agua del grifo (gratuita). El pescado estaba muy bien cocinado y estoy contento de que era "la cantidad" de patatas fritas. Demasiado a menudo un plato amontonados con ellos y puede desanimarte. Me sorprendió lleno así que no opte por cualquiera de los tres postres.

Been using this chippy on & off ( every time we are in Felixstowe which is often ) for the past twenty five years. Consistently good cod & chips, good portion size and well worth a visit.

Llamamos a llevar a casa algunos pescado y patatas fritas, pero decidimos que sería bueno para comer en el restaurante, ya que estábamos de vacaciones. La señora fue muy amable y nos quedamos con ganas de un raro ya que no recuerdo la última vez que tuvimos una cena de pescado y chip. Mi marido tenía bacalao que estaba muy bien preparado con no demasiada pasta y tuve también sabrosos pasteles de pescado. Por desgracia, las patatas fritas eran pálidos y poco hecha. Tal como recuerdo una pena comprar pescado y patatas fritas aquí cuando yo era un niño, y siempre estaban deliciosos. Quizás era sólo el final de la noche, aunque solo fue de 6.30, pero los chips eran una verdadera decepción.

The food is good but the service very poor. You have to plan your visit as their opening hours are archaic i.e. Monday to Saturday 11:30-14:00 and 16:30-19:00 - so don't plan to eat late! If you arrive near closing time be prepared to be offered only what is already cooked in the fryer. Don't expect any smiles :-(

When you are holiday trying to choose where to eat is always tricky.We had perfect fish and chips here,cripsy chips without the oil and very crispy battered pure white fish.Oh and a freezing Diet coke to wah it down,great grub.

Without doubt the tastiest fish and chips for miles around. Highly recommended. Wander down to the seafront and eat them from the tray overlooking the sea. Smashing!

We came here on a day when the carnival was in town. It wasn't overly busy but the staff were extremely disorganised; it was as if they were busy. It was 15 minutes before closing time but the woman who served us made us feel like we were putting her out, when she said "Oh well I'll have to put more in now!" She was very unfriendly, even when we tried to converse with her. As expected there was a wait and the food was nice, the customer service just needs improving.

Always use this one if its open, everything cooked to order, we always phone on the way so it is ready when we arrive, only downside they are not open long enough, but used to that now. It's hidden down a side street off the main road but always busy and has a fish resturant if you want to eat inside

I have been visiting this Fish & Chip shop for over ten years and it never disappoints. The cod comes in fillets no tail and all one size , I've never found a bone in the fish. The batter is perfect the fish just falls off your folk and the chips are perfect not greasy. I can honestly say I've only ever found one fish and chip shop better than this one and that's Rick steins in padstow. Even the one up the road that has won loads of awards in my opinion doesn't beat it. Yes the shop hasn't changed since the 60s and they do seem to cook to order so it can be a bit of a wait but the end product is well worth the wait.

for years my family and I have been going to this fish shop they stopped but my husband goes in we have them regular but lately the chips are pasty white under cooked fish recently my husband don't eat it is weird not white is grey not enough batter on either it is not like it was years ago tasteless muck if this carry's on they are going to shut down improvement needed as we have had enough

the chips here are good but the fish cakes are really tiny - you would need at least two to make one of the usual size - but perhaps they would be good for kids or people with smaller appetites. there is no flexibility and they won't skin the fish - so we usually only have chips from here. they close very early too and it's a bit chaotic when they are busy as you are not always sure where to queue

Lots of fish and chip type establishments in the Felixstowe and surrounding area but not one of them comes even close to this establishment. Food freshness and quality is superb. Frying and prep are obviously carried out under strict hygiene using quality oil and other ingredients. Friendly, fast service has been a positive experience every visit. Being a local this is where I head every time if I want this type of food. If they are not open, I don't bother looking elsewhere. Sadly visitors to the town seem, in large numbers to use the seafront chip shops which generally sell high priced rubbish when just a short stroll from the beach a very different experience can be had. I strongly suggest that, if this is the sort of food which you are seeking to beat a path to their door. I'll probably see you there! Best in area says it all

It's always difficult to get a seat in the cafe/room attached the Orwell Fisheries because it is so popular. However, keep trying because it is a little gem. Yes it needs modernization and maybe a change in the seating arrangement, but the atmosphere and general homeliness is lovely. Food is good quality and the staff are pleasant enough.

Excellent Fish and Chips - opening hours are odd and it does seem to be shut more than open!! Probably best fish and chips in Felixstowe if you can catch them open!!! (No pun intended!)

We enjoyed an excellent Fish & Chip lunch today - the quality and portion sizes were very good and service was both friendly and prompt.This maybe a "no frills" restaurant,but it offers excellent value and we always return on visits to Felixstowe.

We have eaten at every fish and chip shop in Felixstowe and this is the only chippy that didn't have bones in there fish and didn't leave that greasy taste in your mouth after you had finished eating ,we all ate every bit of the fish including the batter not the biggest of portions fish is tray size but it was very tasty and not being big eaters it was perfect for us it's been our treat for several Fridays and the odd Wednesday and yes looking forward to next Friday to another portion of fish and chips can't wait ! The only down fall is we wanted to eat in the restaurant but it only opens for dinner times shame would have like to eat in especially as we have had the rainiest September in ages! And yes the staff our friendly so don't be afraid to have a bit of a banter with them! We do

Visited this chip shop today, arrived before closing time (who closes a chip shop at 7 o'clock on a Saturday evening at the seaside?) was very abruptly told that they only had cod no other fish and then very abruptly told well we will have to cook it! I didn't want it raw! We where followed in by another woman who had exactly the same treatment and ordered exactly the same as us and once it was cooked she was served hers first! No apologies or reason for this! Once we got our food it was very small portion of undercooked chips that where incredibly greasy and a tasteless bit of 'battered' fish that had very little batter on the top and none at all on the bottom but yet was also very greasy, so much so that the short 3 minute car journey was long enough for the grease to soak through and ruin a pair of jeans. I really am struggling to find anything positive about our visit. I'm not a natural moaner and domt normally write reviews but just feel compelled to as it was unbelievably bad service and terrible food.

We have had take away before which was very tasty. Today though we are eating in as a treat .It is old-fashioned in its decor ,like sitting in someone's lounge in the 80s. It however is clean and fairly comfortable .I was surprised to see you could order alcoholic drinks with your meal including spirits . Service was prompt and curtious.Price was reasonable for what we received. My fish was only warm but chips,were hot .The cutlery were proper fish knives and forks.My guests and myself though the food was all eatable but unremarkable.

On Wednesday 1st July, myself and dad called in the Orwell Fishies and ordered two portions of chips and three sausages each to take away, the service was okay we did not wait too long, we then want down to the beach area that was not too far away, we sat near the seafront and ate our food, I found the sausages were overcooked but found the chips were badly undercooked as they were soggy and white, (please see photos enclosed) in the future I won't be in any rush to go back there, shame as a bit of a let down really......

Talk about slow service, I thought the lady was going to come to a complete standstill. The food wasn't much better either and I thought it was expensive for what I got. Chips barely cooked and the fish had obviously been cooked and left in the glass cabinet for quite a while. The fish portion was very small and the batter very soaky. Not good, will not be going back.

Seaside chippy it ain't, Service is slow and when we did get our lunch, the portions was so small it was a joke. I would of takin them back but couldn't be bothered.

Nothing negative to say about this place, but the bounty just pips it to the post. The staff are maybe not as friendly or helpful here and the food whilst being perfectly fine is not the best you can get in felixstowe.

wife been ill and fancied there wonderfull fish and chips, as she cannot eat other shops batter.big sign says order your fish on entry which she did,and then made to wait a extra long time even the people in line said this lady is waiting,served by a rude lady who belittles the customers at every chance,surly and inpolite ,there is no need to treat customers as some thing on your shoe,wife very up set on return,i will say the fish and chips are still best in town ,next time i will buy them.,this lady need to be trained to be more polite and customer friendly.
