Superb fish and chips. The haddock was large and full of flavour. Way better than another local Martlesham fish and chips shop we used to visit.

Hurrah. New management now frying in vegetable oil and been assured chips are Veggie friendly - so bad news for my hips as they are delicious (chips not hips). Food freshly cooked. I've bought the fish for friends and family and all enjoyed it. Good portions, nice atmosphere. Can get very busy, suggest you pre-order over the weekend.

Since this fish and chip shop has been taken over by the new people the fish and chips are no longer cooked in beef dripping. They are now cooked in vegtable oil and are so much tastier. My wife and I tried the fish and chips here the other day having not been to a chip shop for years. I found the new owners to be very friendly and polite. They cook all the fish fresh when you order, so it's not been sitting around for ages. The fish & chips were really tasty and not dripping in oil so I can recommend them. The place looked spotlessly clean and we look forward to going back. The review by Leon Radford was a review from the old shop not from the new owners and should be ignored.

Hits the spot every time. Committed to quality and if the chips are not their best they are replaced unlike other establishments. Tasty batter and chips are full of flavour. Great spring rolls. Great character amongst the serving staff. There are several chip shops closer but I’m prepared to travel further for the quality and consistency.

We have fish and chips from Admirals almost once a week .always hot , very well cooked good portions friendly staff . You can phone in your order so you don’t have to queue . You can even eat them in the square outside the shop . This is our fish shop of choice

The team at Admirals fries top quality, fresh fish in a light batter, and the best, easy to eat chips. Since choosing Admirals, we have been buying at least once a week for over a year (Cod, Plaice and Rock Eel or Haddock). No chip shops in the Kesgrave or Martlesham area are as consistently good as Admirals.

Quite old school. You have to yell in through the door and nobody really knows who's next so if you're too polite you'll never get served!! Food very nice, staff very jolly.

Always our “go to” place for fish and chips. Service with a smile - always accommodating. Good portions and well cooked. Surprised to see a bad review but each to his own! Keep on frying Sid!

Foods always good but due to this they get very busy. Always check your order when collecting as mistakes can happen. They're only human and trying to get good food out quickly.

As usual, food was great, staff were helpful and covid precautions were in place.

I can't edit my previous review, so I'm writing a new one. It's under new management! Old Vinegar Gob has gone!! The new guy does an excellent job with the fry quality, and the service has improved beyond measure. I didn't like their Covid safety when I was in last year. Customers were allowed to ignore the 'two in the shop' limit posted on the door, it was tolerated to be unmasked when it was mandatory, and people were even leaning over the counter at the serving area breathing vapour over everything in sight. None of that is tolerated at nearby J's But at least, a year on, Admiral have a screen up now & the server was wearing a mask Looks like we'll be coming back if they aren't still lax with customer safety.

I’m a big fan! I pop in some weekends and always find the lady who serves so warm and welcoming... and the fish and chips are fab! Keep up the great work team! Absolutely recommended!

(Visited 28.2.2021) It’s doing very well to manage a busy Friday evening during Lockdown. It took about 10 minutes from placing the order to being back in the car. The food was tasty, but the batter on the cod and haddock was a little too greasy for out taste.

Again I have visited this plaice (See what I did there!). seem like every two weeks. Best phone up and order then arrive. Super service, Super food, Super amount. Super smiles. Shame they can't advertise on the A12.... people don't know what their missing.

Use Admirals loads as always great fish and the chips are lovely. Portion sizes always good and staff are friendly so not sure about the last review as we have never had an issue. I would certainly recommend this chippie to anyone, you can always ring up before as well to order if you don't want to wait,

PAID near £20 for large cod and chips twice. Fish looked like it had been cut in half so tiny. Chip portions small and very greasy. Staff barely smiled. Worst had in a long time

It is 'off the beaten track' but has good local trade Friendly greeting on arrival, Small queue, but didn't wait long. Fish cooked to order and they have Crackling (Suffolk people call them scraps). Curry sauce is great as are the chips.

Situated in the small shopping square of Martlesham Heath the food here is very good. Needing to grab some lunch quickly this was ideal, the fish was well cooked and tasty.

Having enjoyed many chippy teas from Admirals since moving to Martlesham Heath in 2013, I thought it was time to leave a review. For me, the fish and chips here are as good as those in Aldeburgh, which are supposedly the best in Suffolk. The fish is always fresh, the batter never sticks to the paper, and the chip portions are enormous. The mushy peas are great too (albeit not very warm last week). Friendly service and reasonable prices. The perfect local chippy!

Fui a otra para llevar y mientras era agradable no tenían salchichas saveloy. Llamé a pescado y patatas fritas y pedimos Admirals si tenían alguna. El hombre dijo que no tenía listo, pero sin cocinar algunos si no importa esperar. Lo acepté, qué amable (Ver lo solla allí! ). Volveré, ya que el servicio fue fantástico. . . . . . Ah, la Sav eran geniales. . . .

Sin duda el mejor pescado de la zona, tenían grandes eglefino que estaba. . .Agradable tener peces que no usas el papel y tiras de la pasta en el proceso.Las patatas fritas son excelentes y montones de ellos, y como ya han dicho otros, la salsa curry es la mejor de la zona.Personal agradable y amable y buen servicio

Very popular locally and does all that you want from a chip shop except restaurant style. Good fare and reasonably priced, you will have to queue but there is a good sized car park though can be full at peak times

We visit this fish and chip shop on a regular basis, living nearby. Fish cooked to order, which means you often have to wait. The chips are freshly cooked and one of the best curry sauces around.

Perfect fish and chips at a great price and cooked whille you wait. Wrapped in paper so it doesn't go soggy, added to the friendly service..Great place

Vinimos aquí la noche del viernes y fue absolutamente deliciosa mejores patatas fritas pescado n que hemos tenido no entiendo el último comentario que claramente no saben lo que dicen sobre como la señora era encantadora hicieron un auténtico escándalo de los niños. Las patatas fritas eran bueniiiiiiiiiisimo y pescado fresco y frito sabroso n a la perfección. Gracias admirals volveremos de nuevo

Solía ir aquí muy regularmente, y fue genial. Seamos honestos, no hay muchos chippies en la zona. Las patatas fritas son geniales, pero el tamaño y la calidad de los peces ha bajado marcadamente. No estoy seguro de que es lo que es. La carne había minúsculo, minúsculos copos, comprimidos más de cerca y todos juntos. No se puede comparar con el bacalao en js, justo al final de la calle. Y Suffolk es fantástico para la pesca.

El amable personal buena comida y muy limpio. Recomiendo encarecidamente, toman pedidos telefónicos que es ideal ya que tengo eglefino, que está preparado a pedido.

Omg what a headache I've never known it to take so long to get a simple meal. 25 minutes to order with 1 person serving and 1 boy just standing there just chaos... not only did customers get attitude but u also got an insight in how not to run a simple chippy will stick to garys fishbar at least u get service with a smile.

Once again the remarkably consistent Admirals has produced another top drawer serving of Fish and Chips. Piping hot, perfectly cooked fish and delicious chips. There just isn't any other chippy in Suffolk that compares ( or anywhere else in the UK we have tried ) . Of course this is just our opinion, try it see what you think.

A chip shop stands or falls by the quality of the food and the service! You can't fault either! Friendly and welcoming with plenty of everything ready there's very little waiting.

Without doubt one of the best fish 'n chip shops anywhere! The fish, freshly cooked to order, is always perfectly cooked with mouthwatering, thin crispy batter. The chips are always equally good, piping hot and crisp. I would not bother going anywhere else now having been a regular customer of Admiral's for over 10 years. For me, the finest chippy in Suffolk if not the whole country.

After 3 months away from the UK travelling, the first meal we had when getting back was fish and chips from Admirals . It was excellent, super white fish and a huge bag of chips ( each ) delicious. this is our 3rd review for this amazingly consistent chippy. Have yet to find another which is as consistent.

Came here for a lunch takeaway. The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. Staff are friendly. Fish is normally cooked to order so it is fresh.but you may have a short wait. There are a few shops around so best to order then do a quick shop.All in all a good place to visit and will return.

Another excellent fish and chip dinner ! Freshly cooked, full of flavour and a generous portion of chips. Has to be one of the best around at the moment I certainly haven't had anything near as good as this from anywhere else.

We have had Fish and Chips from Admirals twice in the last 6 weeks. Both time the meals have been quite excellent. Good sized fish well cooked in a nice crispy batter and a generous portion of chips. Cooked to order so you know that all the fish is freshly cooked. Car park about 30 metres away. Friendly owners. Can't say more, try it !
