Ash Smoked Fishes in Suffolk Coastal

This is not really a restaurant but is a shop on the beach. There are some benches that one could eat the food if you want. The idea of smoked fish actually works really well as it is lightly smoked and the prawns with garlic mayonnaise are lovely. The winner by far is noon pie. I think of an omelette Arnold Bennett in pie form!

Just sampled the mackerel and samphire pate. I have smoked salmon in the fridge and I’m already plotting a quick trip to stock up on the tarts for a picnic lunch. Delicious. Friendly service too.

Walked up to this stall and the smell was amazing. We had the Noon tart and the Crab and Samphire tart plus took home mackerel pate and smoked trout. All of the food was amazing we will be back. There is not much room to sit but there are plenty of benches around this area. Get a nice loaf of bread to go with the pate.

Walking along the beach we came across this smoked fish hut couldn’t resist. Had the smoked prawns with mayo, a smoked haddock and cheese tart. Which was absolutely excellent. I want you to try more but we had dinner booked at the hotel. I will definitely visit again on our next time in Aldeburgh

Had the 'noon pie' and smoked salmon and cream cheese open sandwich. Amazingly good. In fact, in your life you will encounter pies you dream about. This is one of them, can't wait to go back!

Decided to drive to Aldeburgh from Essex as it was a bright sunny morning and as soon as we arrived headed straight to Ash smoked fisheries. This place is the best for fresh quality seafood at an affordable price, definitely worth trying.

Divine smoked fish. A full range of smoked fish to take home for dinner or as ‘takeaway’. We tried the smoked king prawns and they didn’t make it past the first picnic bench; absolutely delicious. The smoked salmon made it home to complement some home baked bread, just perfect.

Delicious smoked salmon, and the Noon pie is seriously dreamy. Hope to come back and try some other things 😀

Just spent 5 days in Aldeburgh and we always visit Ash Smoked Fishes. We had the smoked prawns with garlic and Mayo dip, cockles and smoked salmon and trout pate for lunch on day one. My daughter and her partner came day 2 and loved the prawns and dip agin for lunch and on our return home today we bought the Noon pies (smoked haddock and cheese sauce) and had them for dinner tonight. Everything was fresh and tasty.

Wow what a tart, absolutely delicious, don't share it, devour it alone. The crab and salmon tarts are tasty too but the Noon Tart is just so good.

I visit this great fish shack whenever I am in the area riding my motorbike. The seafood is always fresh and well presented. My wife adores the crab tarts and smoked garlic mayo prawns. I like just about everything! The pickled herring in marinaded in the local cider and onions. The staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable. Top rate.

A gorgeous place right on the beach of Aldeburgh. The fish was absolutely amazing, the cold smoked salmon was delicate and smoky. We also got two fillet of hot smoked salmon that was my favourite and a wholemeal bap with cream cheese and cold smoked salmon to munch on while we headed home. Really good price for the fish and would definitely come back

Lovely fresh smoked fish. Particularly recommend the tartlets. We had crab and samphire and also smoked trout and spinach. The taster packs containing 6 or 7 different samples of smoked fish a9nd shellfish are a great introduction.

Our annual visit to Aldeburgh necessitated us visiting twice for lunch. On our last morning I had an order from my neighbour for several Noon Tarts and other goodies amounting to some £46! I also stocked up for us and brought back a Noon Tart for a friend who is an accomplished chef as I would like her to try and duplicate it - that is still a work in progress! Wish we lived closer.

Called in late morning whilst visiting Aldeburgh. Decided to try the mixed sample offer which was a collection of around 8-10 different lightly smoked seafoods. Nice interesting sample and would certainly go again if in the area. Sat outside on bench as the weather was nice.

Wonderful! We went to Aldeburgh just to go to this smokery. It didn’t disappoint. There is a good range of smoked fish. We tried a range of dishes (prawns, smoked salmon, tart) - they were all delicious. Prices are very reasonable. It’s in a great location too - right on the beach. Highly recommended.

The freshest and yummiest fish in town and located right next to the beach. The smoked prawns, smoked salmon, fish pates and smoked kippers were all delicious. Wish we could have worked our way through the whole counter. There are benches outside to enjoy what you buy.

Have just consumed between us, a smoked trout and spinach tart, a smoked fish platter and our first ever Noon Tart. Apparently Noon Tart is unique to Aldeburgh according to the owner To say pit was delicious doesn't do it justice, it was a gift from the food gods!

A wide selection of fish/shell fish to choose from. We had a mix of selection boxes and our own choice - all were delicious. Would definitely recommend and would visit again if I'm the area. Well worth a visit!

Superb smoked fish. So good, we went back next day. Tried crab and samphire tart, smoked prawns and cold smoked salmon. All excellent. But the star was the hot smoked salmon - firm, meaty and incredibly tasty (nothing like shop-bought version). Highly recommended

We just bought this company's mackerel pate, but were horrified when we saw the ingredients - sugar, fructose syrup, rapeseed oil, thickener, and preservative. This product went straight into the bin. Very disappointed.

The smoked eel I bought and had today was very good. Still moist protected by the skin still being attached. We both enjoyed the smoked salmon and trout pate.

A rather wonderful place with a huge rage of smoked fish. We had a couple of tasting platters which were made up on the spot, smoked mackerel and crusted smoked salmon. Everything was excellent but the smoked salmon was fantastic. Cannot recommend it highly enough

Wow. A busy Easter weekend and the food here was perfection. The smoked salmon on the cream cheese and smoked salmon roll is so tender and delicious. The smoked prawns were so juicy and tasty. This place deserves a Michelin star if not at least 3. Friendly server too. Recommended.

Really delightful! We had smoked cockles, prawns, salmon and eel. I've never had smoked cockles before, so that was a real treat - it's subtle but it does add something to the flavour. The salmon was spot-on, very nice indeed. The eel, is certainly an acquired taste but not at all unpleasant. The prawns were really good indeed. Whole-heartedly recommend this place, really lovely indeed

Lovely breakfast. Tasty selection of smoked morsels and a fabulous noon pie .

Nice proper smoke house shop. Just a hatch to get served through hut you can have a nice look at the selection. There's a couple of tables to eat at. I have cold smoked crusted salmon in an open brown roll. Seems a bit expensive at first but then you see the thickness of the salmon slices and its fair. Not an overly smoky flavour but lovely texture! Great snack stop for some fresh sea food and hand smoked produce!

This place is so good that today being the last day of our holiday we might go back again. Got the trout tart, mackerel pate and the king prawns. All fabulous, good price and friendly service. Prawns were best I've ever had !!!!!

Both had the smoked salmon and cream cheese rolls and the smoked salmon was delicious - soft, tasty and delicately flavoured. Overall quite rich for such a small looking lunch! Being on the beach really makes it.

Really great fish! I had the smoked salmon sandwich (pictured) and the smoked mackerel fillet. Absolutely delicious. You just need to bring your own cutlery unless you fancy eating smoked fish with your hands.

Stopped here when walking along the seafront in Aldeburgh. A good selection of choices and a decent service too. Would definitely recommend the brown shrimps, together with the crusted smoked salmon on cream cheese open roll. Definitely worth visiting when in Aldeburgh if you love fish.

The mackerel pate might be one of the nicest fish things I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Everything else was great too, though eel less to my taste, but the light smoke they've achieved is phenomenal.

Instantly went back for third tub of smoked prawns with garlic mayo because it’s so so good! Salmon was amazing too with generous amount of cream cheese :) would highly recommend, all quality smoked fish. We even got some hot smoked salmon to bring back to Cambridgeshire as a souvenir, look forward to have it on our salad.

Always go here when I visit Aldeburgh. A perfect place to have lunch if you like smoked fish. You must try their pies too - my favourite is Noon pie. You can sit at one of their bench tables or take your goodies and have a picnic on the beach. Bliss.

Fantastic fish and charming Hungarian lad serving :) We bought noon pies (of course) and kippers. Kippers are very large and gently smoked and juicy. Great value!

Bought the odd bit of fish from here over the years, always delicious. Yesterday, got hot smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, two noom pies, and a trout and spinach pie. All of it was delicious. I eat a fair amount of mackerel, but this piece was the best I've ever had in my life. Flavour was spot on, but it was the tenderness and the moisture of the fish that were so outstanding. Good mouth-feel is what chefs call it I think. I'd have some more if I could today! The Salmon was very good. It was slightly firmer than a piece of poached Salmon, and with a not too strong smoked flavour on top, though if it had been smokier it wouldn't have been ruined. It was really delicious but should have made myself a hollandaise or something to work with it. I'll be getting them both again next time I can. Trout and Spinach pie/tart. I loved this. Mottled green and pink in a pastry dish. they'd got the pastry right too for my money, and warmed in the oven when I got home It was the best tart/flan/pie/quiche type thing I'd ever had. I certainly don't think I've had a better one. if you had this with some buttered jersey royals and a salad you'd be happy paying £15+ in a restaurant without feeling short changed I'd reckon. my son wasn't quite as keen because he'd already tried.. The Noom Pie!! It has a very different character to the trout and spinach pie, the fish is in a cream and shallot sauce in the pastry dish and I loved it too. Rich, creamy, indulgent, yet all around well balanced. I wouldn't eat it every day solely because of the heart attack risk, but my oh my was it good! Very pleased I got two of them cause my son wolfed his down and I will finish with his quote, (and for context, at 9yo we have tried to give him varied and delicious foods from worldwide cuisines), "It's hard to say, but it might be the best thing I've ever eaten"

Found this by chance while walking along the beach. Had a noon pie (haddock and smoked cheddar, mostly) and smoked salmon (both made in-house). Both were amazing - so good that we immediately bought more of each for a picnic the next day.
