Bounty Fisheries in Suffolk Coastal

just got 3 haddock and 1 portion chips. 23 pounds. was very disappointed. fish was very greasy and overcooked and a strange colour. oil needs changing. Will not be going back again.

Ordered 3 large cod 1 medium cod and chips… soggy batter that had so much oil that the Americans were ready to invade our plates….. avoid at all costs if you got a heart condition as this place should not be classed as a traditional fish and chips……

Saturday pm ordered on the ap -Cod & chips and also Cod & gluten free chips and left note saying cod also needed to be gluten free - paid for on ap. Phoned shop to confirm gluten free cod, which shop said was fine and later sent my son to pick order up. When my son picked up order he was told that it was extra 40p for gf cod which I was not informed about, my son said fine and offered to pay with card which the shop refused. He had to come all the way home and my husband had to go back to shop with 40p cash. Absolutely appalling customer service.... surely they could have waived the 40p as we were not informed and had no cash. By the time the food got home, it was cold.

Straightforward process booking and paying online and choosing a pick up time. I arrived promptly and food was ready on arrival..unfortunately I think the chips slightly suffered from sitting under the fish for a little while and were not at all crispy although tasted good, but the fish was outstanding..flaky, fresh with thin crispy batter. Mushy peas were really good. Everything was hot and portions were really generous. Guys working in chip shop friendly and wearing masks. Customers waiting generally very sensible. Overall a good experience.

I live local and have used the Bounty for many years , faultless/excellent food/quality great ,today got home and they had left a piece of cod from the order (6pm Friday and very busy)i was a bit grumpy , my wife called chip shop and a fresh very hot piece of cod was delivered within 5 mins to my home .Fantastic recovery , thank you very much . Nice to see good old fashioned service is still around today ,recommend 100%

Very clean premises and nice portions of fish and chips at reasonable prices. Staff very friendly would recommend a visit.

Have been here a couple of times as they seem to be the only chip shop in Felixstowe that serves gluten free food, however, the staff still seem to be unsure about what gluten free actually means.! and there is always a query about the vinegar. The chips are a bit limp and the batter on the fish is soggy and not light and crispy. Maybe a new recipe is needed. That said, the shop is very clean and the staff are very pleasant, just a pity about the food.

Only had chips but they were fresh and really nice, there was a place to sit and eat! Clean and tidy

Haven’t used the Bounty for about a year now, because I wasn’t impressed with my meals and there other places that are very good to choose from. However, had a meal from there this evening and it was excellent. Massive improvement, the shop was immaculate, friendly staff, brilliantly cooked chips and lovely haddock with light crispy batter. First Class Fish & Chips, well done !

Always freshly cooked and excellent haddock and chips or even best scampi in town. Never kept waiting for long for freshly cooked food.

Very friendly and polite. Food is fried on-site but some sits in the warmers and suffers accordingly. Easy street parking, one or two small tables for 'eat-In'. Summer time these spread out on to the pavement. Modern and clean.

This is our go to fish and chip shop. Staff always pleasant. Portion sizes good. Especially the fish. Variety of menu means it can feed all of my fussy family. Good value too.

Found on trip advisor this place did not disappoint both gf and non gf fish and chips. Very clean and excellent friendly staff. Would not hesitate to recommend

We regularly go here (once a month) and have never had a duff fish and chips. They also do burgers, pies, sausages (battered or unbattered) etc. They can also cook in different oils / batters for any special dietary requirements. Inexpensive too. They now take card payment, but I believe there is a surcharge for this, so cash is best.

The best take away fish and chips. Excellent and friendly service. Also sells pies, sausages, sauces such as curry etc.

This is a rather average place. We found it by accident and had to eat something. The girls working there are very friendly. Fish was average, it was not very large and a bit soggy. Chips were also ok. Thus, all in all an average place. Good for if you need to have a quick meal.

Fish is smaller than restaurants. There a never a queue. Friendly welcome and quick service. Large takeaway menu.

After being told by a few people who we have meet in Felixstowe over the past few months that this was a good place to get take away fish and chips we feel we must give this place a terrible verdict.We ordered 2 cod and chips to take away on a Friday evening.The shop was quite busy and we were served quite quickly so there is no complaint there!,but when we got home and served the food,to say we was disappointed was an understatement!!!!!.....Both the fish and chips were cold and the chips looked like they had been cooked much earlier in the day and looked and tasted horrible!.We were so shocked with the lack of quality that we were served,I can only say that I would never recommend this place to anyone!.The only thing that didn't complain was our dog who had double portions but let the overcooked horrid chips!.......Avoid!

Working in Felixstowe I ate haddock and chips from this take away. My three colleagues also ate haddock and chips and we all four of us ended up throwing the meal in the bin, unfinished.The chips were a solid stodgy greasy ball, the fish frozen, tasteless wrapped in sloppy batter. Yuck.A certificate mounted on the wall tells the reader the chippy was nominated as the best in Felixstowe. Really ?Don't let this place out you off as there are better chippies in the town.

My first review of this fish and chip shop was tainted by the fact the scollops were under cooked - but this time they were gorgeous - but they do take a very long time to cook and they don't seem to have any ready - so perhaps worth a telephone order unless you have all the time in the world. a woman came in after me - ordered two cod and chips - and she left 10 minutes before me and her order was cooked from scratch too... just saying if you want your scollops to be properly cooked then they are worth the wait.

Always had good fish and chips here packed into cartons. Just a pity they hadn't a restaurant as well.

We don't have take away fish and chips very often but decided to try the Bounty as I knew it had recently been taken over by new management. I was greatly surprised at how good the service was, very polite staff, fish cooked to order which I like as it shows its fresh, and the whole meal down to the browned off chips instead of anemic white one was really enjoyable. We will be using them again, grfeat work keep it up .

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time, I've had fish and chips from all over the uk. By far the best one. I was served by the smaller young man, even when busy and the heat, very polite well mannered had all sorts of food also. Will be coming back very soon.

This is our regular chippy - the food is always of a good standard and the staff are always nice and friendly - unlike some of the competition.You do need to be a bit lucky with timing as they do seem to cook more to order - at least it's fresh and hot!Just introduced payment by card (about time) but with a charge even for debit cards - probably be another 20 years before they get contactless or Apple Pay!

Whenever we go to a fish & chips restaurant in Felixstowe we go to the excellent Fish Dish but when we want takeaway fish & chips we always go The Bounty. The food is always of a high standard, nice crisp batter, not greasy, tasty 'proper' chips and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Working in felixtowe so i checked tripadvisor and this was first chip shop on the list...was not dissapointed..friendly lady serving...will definatly use when in felixtowe again

Not always easy to park near but worth the effort, generous portions, well cooked, tastes excellent, battered fish available with skin on and off.

Best fish and chips in the area. Very delicious! Quality food, quality service. I'll most certainly be going back for more!

I was really excited about seeing scallops on the menu - 3 for £1 seemed to be pretty good value too - BUT only one was edible - and I had no chance of taking the under-cooked ones back as the rest of our order would have been ruined by being cold. the chips are good here - so that will ensure our continued custom - but note to fryer - get the scallops right and we'll be your customers for life!!

This was the first time I've visited Bounty Fisheries with my friends and had an excellent food, the service was also fine. The food served was very tasty and fresh as well as the quantity was also good.Keep up guys :-)

Extraordinarily, out of 100 or so reviews I've done on Trip Advisor, my previous reviews of The Bounty have received the largest number of views - about 3,000. It used to serve the best fish and chips in Felixstowe - no ifs, no buts. But. Sometime over the last year it changed hands. Previously, customer service was manned by three or four male and fermale teenagers - smartly dressed complete with straw boaters. Service was fast, efficient and they all smilled and gave a warm and personal welcome. Food was awesome.That's changed. The fish is still good, but the chips are now just better than average. But the biggest but is that there is now only one 'front of house' staff member and service is therefore very slow. Also, communication with customers isn't great, with misinformation about the time to wait before order is ready. It's lost the personal, friendly touch.So, sadly, I'm going to have to downgrade them in this latest review.

I came down to visit my aunty in Felixstowe, we always come to the bounty when I come and visit. And I Must say I am never disappointed. Food has always been excellent and the staff are friendly and made me feel welcomed to the shop. Although I had to wait a few minutes for my cod to cook. It was worth while as it was fresh. Looking forward to my next visit.

The Bounty was acknowledged as being the best in Felixstowe a couple of years ago, unfortunately since it changed ownership the standard of cooking has deteriorated rapidly. Today it is a shadow of its former self, chips that have been reheated and taste like cardboard, fish that has far too much uncooked batter. Sad but I will not be using it again.

Tried this place for the first time and certainly won't be going again. Both pieces of cod (one large, one regular) were pasty and grey (frozen?), no sign of flaky white fish, and the batter was soggy and stuck to the paper. The chips were ok, but it's all about the fish. Yuk!

This use to be a decent fish and chip shop and we have used it for many years, the quality has gone down hill for a while now but after this visit I would rather drive down to the regal instead.The chips were so greasy that when we put them on the plate they stayed in the shape they had been wrapped, we had to try and pull the chips apart. The fish was also greasy and a funny colour inside and the battered sausage seemed to be missing the sausage part.Most of the meal was inedible and not worth the price we paid, the service was also very slow and we had to repeat our order 3 times before they managed to understand what we wanted.Avoid at all costs!

Used this establishment for several years when the fish and chips were excellent in both quality and quantity. Our visit last week was a massive disappointment my portion of cod was minuscule and appeared to have been in the freezer a while. Coming originally from a fishing family I expect cod to be large white flakes of succulent fish not four forkfulls (excluding batter) of flat yellowish fish. This was no way worth the £3.80 charged. My wife suffered the same way with her haddock which was also a total rip off. Will have to find a new chippie.

The food has lost nearly all quality over the last few months. I bought food the other day and actually couldn't eat the battered sausage I had ordered as it didn't even taste of pork.They give bigger portions now, however I would prefer good quality food and have less of it. Really disappointed with the changes food. Would not recommend anyone to go here. I won't be a returning customer.

My husband and I come here maybe once a fortnight, sometimes more. Never disappointed. Lovely food, great staff. Can't go wrong really!

Bounty fisheries has some of the most amazing food in felixstowe. Their portion sizes are more than reasonable, it is fair to say that it is definitely worth the money. The chicken bites are delicious and well cooked and there is nothing better than receiving your food from such friendly staff who always have a smile on their face. I must admit I am glad to have this as my local fish and chips shop and will remain as a regular and loyal customer.

I go to Bounty a few times a month and every time I find the chips portions are huge (a large is enough for two people). Sometimes if you go when they are busy (friday dinner) you can wait a while in the queue even if you don't want anything cooked or if there is a large order, which their often is. In fairness though if there is a large queue sometimes someone else will come and serve.The menu is quite large - there is plenty of choice for everyone and they even do children's meals as well as the obligatory selection of soft drinks and slush puppies.Overall the prices are reasonable, the portions of chips are delicious and large but I would not recommend going when it would be busy.

To be fair, the quality was OK but the portion sizes were shocking!The skate wings had been cut into 3 so for £5 + for one piece of skate this would have fed my 8 yr old. The cod bites consisted of 4 very small pieces. This is very over priced for the size. Would not return

We were looking for a good fish and chip shop we were not local but it was fantastic even putting an order before opening time as well excellent service thanks again we had all empty plates recommended to people non local and local.

We are visiting for the weekend and we looked up the "best fish and chips in felixstowe!" and this come up and we are very pleased that it did,As a family we had Scampi and chips and two haddock and chips and it was lovely.As a family we would go as far as saying its the best fish and chips we have had.£15ish for a fish and chips.Poliet staff, very quick service!!

This chippy has always been hit and miss. Decided to give it another go as one of very few that offers a genuine vegetarian menu. Generally me and my partner order a large portion of chips because that's plenty between us anywhere else. Got home to find a barely filled polystyrene tray wrapped in paper. I don't understand the use of the nasty polystyrene trays other than for very stingey portion control. Those trays are used for everything. They'd even put my partners spring rolls in one before wrapping it. Very un environmentally friendly and a waste of money. Perhaps if the owner cut back on those they would be able to give decent portions.A shame that this chippy now has the food right but is now letting themselves down on value for money. The staff were quick at service and the young lad who served us was very quick and helpful however a smile wouldn't go a miss. Same couldn't be said for the blonde young lady who was serving with a whinge and moan in between. I was fully aware that she had a large telephone order to assemble by her complaining and sullen look. Remember, no orders, no job young lady.

I have always hated gloppy chips but the new owner has put a stop to all that! Very good fish and batter too.

Sorry, can't speak for the fish and chips but I would like to thank the manageress for her honesty. I lost my wallet, outside the Bounty. The manager went to the trouble of tracking me down (via phone calls) to let me know she found my wallet and it could be collected from the chip shop.Many thanks, you saved me a lot of aggro.

Used to be really good but recently had fish and chips that had definitely been recooked or left in heated storage from lunch time. Apparently under new management.

Appreciating that the shop would be busy on good Friday I decided phone up and order my fish and chips in advance so I wouldn't have to wait when I got there, as expected there was a big que in the shop. I made myself known to the lad behind the counter that i had phoned through 20 minutes previously with my order only to be told to join the back of the que and wait my turn im not an impatient person but why bother taking my order on the phone if im looking at another 25 minute wait when i get there? Alas! I went to gullivers instead and had delicious fish and chips served to me within 5 minutes of walking in the shop that's where I'll be going from now on.......gullivers1 bounty0.......

This was Felixstowes #1 Chippy, now a distant second.But the food is good from here, we'll worth a visit if the Regal is closed!

Decent fish. Decent chips. Best curry sauce and mushy peas. Large portions and good value for money.

The staff are typical teenagers, surly and unpleasant. I object strongly to handing over my hard earned money to anyone who doesn't have the wherewithal to say 'thank you'. The food isn't brilliant either.

This place is always busy because the food is so good and there is a good choice of food including burgers, scampi, mushrooms and everything is cooked quickly to order. Excellent organised staff.

Quite simply, it doesn't get any better than this. The queues outside on a Friday night are testimony. Fresh fish, freshly cooked, fast, professional staff. Just brilliant. Don't buy fish and chips in Felixstowe from anywhere but here. I know. I've lived here 12 years.

Quite simply the best take away chip shop around. Great food, always cooked to perfection & not swimming in fat. This chip shop has won numerous awards & desevedly so.
