Saltwater Fish+Chips in Suffolk Coastal

Came here today as was just walking by and fancied a coffee and a snack. First of all a lovely place all clean and tidy then was served and seated by a lovely gentleman maybe the owner as was very friendly. Coffee and chips came in normal times which is great as it was busy. All in all great prices great food and service. Will be coming again for sure. Many thanks guys. Also you can see the sea while earing ya fish now you can't beat that can ya.

Came here for valentines, our server was brilliant! Wish I got his name but yeah he was perfect, and omg the food!!! The food was out of this world. Definitely gonna be back! Two dinners and two drinks for £28! You can’t go wrong with this place

Proper fish and chip restaurant and take away. Everything was freshly prepared and arrived piping hot. Chips were just the right size and cooked to perfection, golden on the outside, fluffy in the middle. I had a steak and ale pie with mine (unusual, I know), which was tasty and rich. My fellow diner had the scampi and said they were delicious. Clearly a favourite with the locals, given the staff seemed to know some of the customers well. Always a good sign.

The fish arrived warms chips were perfectly salted and vinegared the sauce was amazing and they added a joke on the wrapper as i asked and it was a good one definitely coming back soon!

Really good experience. We had fish and chips in the restaurant. Never change the curry sauce recipe! The only negative , few more chips please and the large fish wasn’t that big compared to the regal down road, otherwise loved and will be back !

The steak & kidney pie was rock hard and inedible. The scampi was overdone but was edible.......just.

The Best Fish & Chips I have ever eaten. I travelled from Colchester and it was worth it. Staff friendly and helpful, food couldn't fault and delivered on China plates and metal cutlery to add to the eating experience instead of a cardbox and bamboo knives and forks.

Pore service have to wait to be fried small portions a large haddock the size of a pensioners meal when I pay 16 pounds for a children's meal it bit much I won't being going in there anymore.

I went into saltwater f&c restaurant but the takeaway side I ordered a large haddock and large chips separately the fish was the size of a pensioners fish and the chips was like a small portion and a large pot of mushy pea s I was charged £,16 . For a child's portion hot happy won't go back there

Opted for the cod and scampi combo. Both were cooked to perfection. Crispy batter and soft juicy fish. Non greasy. Nice and light on the stomach. Best I have tasted anywhere. Chips were a little on the dry side for my taste, but then I do like my chips very soft which isn't to everyone's liking. Staff were very friendly and service quick. Will come back again for sure.

I was recommended to try Saltwater and I was not disappointed. A cut above your standard fish and chips that can often be stodgy and greasy. The cod was deliciously fresh and a generous size, with great chips too. Lovely, friendly service too. Saltwater will definitely be my go-to when I'm in Felixstowe - and I'll be sure to try their restaurant next door to sample that menu too.

Called in for a late lunch and ordered the senior fish and chips with one of the party being gluten free. Order posed no problem and senior portion was just right for us oldies. It came with peas tartar sauce and cup of tea. Hot and tasty will use again.

Visited felixstowe and popped into Saltwater Fish n Chips for dine in with husband and daughter. Whilst we were the only guests in the restaurant, the staff were excand attentive and extremely cheerful and entertained us singing whilst working & listening to music. Such a fun atmosphere. Food was plentiful and amazing value for money. We had the combo dish which was delicious. The place was clean and tidy. Totally recommend this fish n chips takeaway restaurant. We truly enjoyed our visit & will return in warmer weather.

Love this restaurant, have been several times. The food is lovely, and they have the option for gluten-free and vegetarian options. Staff are welcoming, and best of all, it's dog friendly.

I opened the door of the takeaway and thought that they were perhaps shut as it was deserted on a lunchtime. I waited 5 minutes and then like in Mr Benn a man appeared behind the counter and said 2 minutes, he then proceeded to put out plates and fill them with food. Again, out of nowhere another man appeared and started taking the plates into the restaurant part of the establishment. He ignored me along with two more customers who had also entered. This carried on for about 10 minutes until the second man came and took our orders and the money. He then carried on taking full plates into the restaurant that were filled by the silent man behind the counter, And so I waited and waited with not a word from anyone as to what was going on. I asked the other customers if they had visited before, was this usual but they too had never visited. This weirdness went on for 25 minutes until I decided enough I called over to the chap who had taken my order who now seemed to be serving drinks, and said I wanted my money back as I had waited long enough. He then said your order is ready you can have it! He served my order saying sorry we are understaffed! Well if this is the case, and I only saw 2 staff, shut the takeaway and just serve the restaurant! They clearly couldn’t cope! I came to this establishment as it looked clean and modern, unlike those either side! But as my husband pointed out, the locals were flocking to the others, this in itself speaks volumes!! And, the fish and chips were very under whelming! Dry tasteless chips with a consistency of wall paper paste, fish with overcooked batter and no cod roe on a Tuesday lunchtime! Don’t bother, visit any other just not this one.

WOAH! Saltwater Fish and Chips shop, Felixstowe, Ipswich, Suffolk, England take a bow. The food was exquisite to say the least. But most of all, the workers here were great!!! especially the young lad 'Calum' on takeaway today. overall wonderful experience 10/10

Food was good, staff were friendly, but if you go in the left set of doors instead of the right set, they don't let you sit anywhere even if it starts raining outside. They wouldn't let me sit at Sweetwater next door, either.

Food was overcooked and tasted pretty bad. I ordered scampi for a change - it was cheep nasty scampi - I’ve had better from a supermarket. With it being overcooked made it taste even worse. Chips wernt greasy but had no flavour We complained about our food but the kids that were running the place didn’t care This used to be my favourite chip shop and had been a returning customer for over 20 years. I will not be returning.

Omg! This chip shop is amazing!! Was going to go to the regal up the road, but decided to go here. I'm glad I did as the chips were amazing, probably the best ive ever had in felixstowe. Fantastic light batter on the sausages 👌. Defo now my favourite chippy on the front and will be going back again. Staff and food was absolutely 💯 spot on. 5 🌟 all round

Go to the seaside for fish and chips they say, I have just received the worst Sausage and chips I have ever eaten. Some of the chips were solid and the sausage had lost its batter and tasted awful so I will never visit again.

Great shame used to be the best place for Fish N Chips imo, todays visit fell short of expectations, no meals were served as meals 5 bags of chips, sausages all in one bag and scampi on a tray! All meals were child size not regular or large (skimping) always pay over £55-£60 to feed family and expected a meal not a snack! I would hate to see a small meal. Excuses from staff: we can't tell what you have ordered from till receipt the system not very good, well come on that will just cause errors evident from todays visit with all the complaints, not sure we will visit again the standard has dropped massively or the owner bitten off more than he can chew.

Very noisy and echoy. Staff were lovely and food is great. They have gluten free options and a helpful with dietary requirements.

Batter was over cooked and chewy as was parts of the cod, normally much nicer as been here plenty of times!

So disappointed with the food we had today 17/08/2024. The fish was cooked fresh which was great but the chips were tough, how do you get tough chips. Couldn’t eat them.

As the other place is closed now, there are more customers. So you'll probably wait for your order a little bit longer. But it is worth it.

They made us so welcome, a bucket list visit for our terminally ill mum; fish and chips, fantastic views, then the big wheel just outside. Wonderful spot, great service with no preparation or planning. Thankyou so much for making our day special. Wonderful disabled access. X

I recently dined at Saltwater and was left feeling disappointed. When ordering, I specifically asked if tap water was complimentary and was assured it was. However, I was shocked to find a charge for tap water on the bill. This indicates a lack of honesty. Had we known this in advance, we would have opted for bottled water instead.

Went in for dinner and took an hour + to server . food didn’t tast good and was cold every think is dirty

Just had some over cooked fish from Saltwater. One piece of fish was nice and white the other grey. Batter over cooked, chips were lovely. Such a shame as have always enjoyed thier food. Service good, nice young girls and boys working there. Unfortunately threw away fish.

Quite a nice little chippy along the run of arcades and a stone's throw from the beach. If you get there early enough, you can dine in if you prefer. Tasty sausage in batter

My go to place for fish&chips as a coeliac. The best batter and gluten-free vinegar for the chips!! Everything is cooked in a separate fryer and given in a specific box. So tasty and such a treat!

Ridiculously slow service. Arrived at 6.30 to get something to eat, there were 5 groups of people Infront of us. Had to give up at 6.55 as had somewhere to be. The place seems to be staffed by unmotivated teenagers ( 1 person was serving, saw another restocking the boxes painfully slowly ). Won't be bothering again

Had a lovely meal here today. The staff were friendly, the food was cooked to perfection and they gave a decent serving of curry sauce 😄 I would highly recommend the battered vegan sausage and chips

This part of the amusement group has recently been taken on by an American. The service was excellent and the staff were really nice and helpful. The food was much better than the last time we visited a number of years ago. My Haddock was really delicious.

Don’t claim to be vegan friendly - gone from hero to zero… Used to be the destination of choice for vegans with the amazing pies - now they never have any in stock or cooked and the staff attitude towards it is of no care or interest - avoid if you’re hoping for a vegan pie !!

Probably had better frozen fish and chip meals from Iceland to be honest. Chips were all dry and burnt, like they’d been overcooked and reheated. Fish wasn’t that great either, tasted like it had been reheated from frozen. Friendly service and good location though. Shame really.

What’s happened? I have loved this place for several years but something has gone wrong…the two boys serving were wearing really dirty tops and hats and were slouching over serving areas. Food was not great - ‘large’ fish was small and burnt and battered burger wasn’t really battered. Chips literally had the grease laying on them. This used to be my Felixstowe recommendation sadly not anymore 😔

Good food and fantastic gluten free options

Portion sizes are good and the food doesn't feel too greasy for what it is. Prices are fair in a decent location. I've tried all the fish and chips takeaway places along the seafront of Felixstowe and this is still my favourite.

Rude staff, Claims to have a range of vegan and veggie options but when ordering a vegan battered sausage- the chef at the back said it won’t actually be vegan cos he “can’t be arsed to fry it in the vegan fryer” Don’t offer vegan options if your staff won’t actually make your food vegan

Had gluten free sausage and chips, it was delicious you wouldn’t know it was gluten free. Batter was lovely and crispy. The only thing I would say is that it’s cooked in palm oil as you can taste it.

Awful slow service. 30 mins waiting with only 2 people in front of us. Queue was huge when we left. Guys standing around at the till not serving - pointless. One young guy wiping his nose on the back of his hand & then serving food. Fresh cooked chips were soggy. Would not recommend ever.

Ive had sausage and chips here on a couple of occasions unfortunately it was no better the second time. Food wasnt freshly cooked and the batter was chewy. Chips were almost cold. Staff were nice enough but i wont be back.

Really helpful, friendly service to accommodate 6 adults and a toddler on a wet and rainy day. There was a good choice of food and the portions were ample. Will come again!

Brilliant service even though Felixstowe was absolutely packed and queues were long. Large order for 10 people all double checked as ordering and correct once handed over. Food came swiftly even on the busiest day of the year.

Ordered 2 cods take away,1 was bone dry and the other was lovely and moist,the chips were hard and cold, I wouldn't recommend, I won't be returning

Didn't eat in so I will not review the atmosphere. Paid £4 for a large portion of chips and they were tiny. Asked why this was the case and was told they had been asked to reduce the size of the portion to 3 scoops. This appears to have been due to the bank holiday so they were cashing in when busy. Waited for a around 30 minutes in the queue to discover this isnt the chippy I recommended to the friends and family I was with. Stingy

Told to wait at door to be seated and a young lad showed us to the table unenthusiastically that’s where it ended, staff seemed flustered in the restaurant, scruffy and not well trained, we were then ignored as another table were then served who had come in after. Delicious fish and chips, idyllically situated on the Felixstowe seafront, with excellent, friendly and prompt service. Highly recommend the curry sauce - we'll be visiting here a lot in the summer! Options for gluten free, vegans and more.

Food is very good....... but as we sat waiting for our food to come out I saw the cook drop his tea towel on the floor, accidently tread on it then pick it up and carried on using it. He was eating food all the time as he was preparing it, eating it with his fingers then using his bare hands to prepare food. !!!!!

Saltwater fish and chips is our first choice for takeaway and eating on the prom. Today we decided to eat in their restaurant, we know the portions are substantial so we ordered large code and chips to share. The prices inside are substantially more than takeaway as expected, but worth the extra. The serving staff were young, mainly student age, but they were well trained polite and attentive. Would recommend.

Extremely bland after the ‘modernisation’. Past experiences have been good but on this occasion was waiting outside for 30 minutes after they ran out of chips!!! Food was nice but the waiting times should be sorted.

Fish and chips were excellent. It's on the seafront so good view. Service was slow but some staff had not turned up. Those who were there were apologetic and friendly. Food made up for the wait!

Love this place use it everytime we go Felixstowe. They do gluten free fish and chips which a lot of places don't. Yesterday most the young staff didn't seem organised and were missing items off peoples orders, despite it being unusually quiet, hopefully they just need some additional training.

Terrible dissapointment today. I gave one star but honestly I wanted to give less. I had a large cod and chips, the cod was half raw on the thicker part.I was taking back in to the shop to find solution, the girl was nice, she said asking somebody, but the manager wasn't able to coming out to deal with my problem. They offered chips for the fish.I've asked them what about the fish (I didn't have issue with the chips) they said I can take, the raw fish what is possible food poisoning. Really disgusting behavior!

Friendly service in restaurant, but food was disappointing. Fish was nice but the batter was overcooked and slightly burnt, whereas our jumbo battered sausages were undercooked, with runny batter and cold sausage. The sausages were replaced after complaining with some that were properly cooked, but I don't think we'll be returning.

As a coeliac, I was very excited to find they had lots of gluten free options. Was also very reasonably priced compared to other seafront chippies. Staff friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back!

Very friendly and helpful staff, wasn’t too expensive at all, I paid £7 for 8 gluten-free nuggets, chips and a large gluten free curry sauce. All very tasty, will return when in the area
