The BISTRO
Rutherglen Central and North, South Lanarkshire, <20£
01/06/2021: Food was outstanding as always! Huge portions! Absolutely love it, such a cosy/romantic atmosphere for any couples!
Been several times and will be back! Staff are soo friendly and helpful, also follow all covid restrictions well!
The garlic mushrooms were the best I’ve ever tasted!
31/05/2021: Just home from what I can honestly say was the best meal ever. We were recommended this restaurant by friends. I had the carbonara, which was absolutely delicious. Hubby had the combo fajitas and practically licked the plate clean and kids had chicken nuggets. The portion sizes where very generous and brilliant value for money. All the staff were lovely too and interacted with us all which was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and can't wait for another meal at The Bistro.

Ayr North, South Ayrshire
11/02/2021: We have tried various food places in Ayr and nothing compares. My friends and I ordered three dishes (Thai green curry, massalam curry and pad Thai chicken and prawn). Each one was so different but so perfect, the flavour was so rich. We all accidentally over-ate because the food was so good. Also I’m coeliac and there were plenty of gluten free options.
27/01/2021: Love the authentic Thai food they prepare! I have been coming here since the restaurant opened..never disappointed

Jenna, our waitress was fantastic and made sure our experience was great!
Hot caramel and chocolate dome dessert was amazing!

Stags Pavilion
Irvine West, North Ayrshire
01/08/2017: This little tucked-away restaurant is not to be missed if one visits Arran. Reservations are a must and should be made several days in advance, especially during the busy summer months. I ate here with my mother, my sister who has celiac disease and my 13-year-old niece. All of us ate well, even my niece who is a finicky eater. Kids menu was expansive and suited many palates and kids and regular menu had large portions at reasonable prices. The staff were well able to accommodate my sister's special dietary needs and she ate well here, more than in other fancier restaurants we visited on our tour of Europe. I ate Arran lamb, which was tasty, and my mother ordered several platters for the table, all of which were delicious. We were very stuffed when we left, too stuffed for dessert, which I regret missing out on. I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant, and although the interior is small, it didn't feel crowded or stuffy. . It was just wonderful to eat my delicious dinner while gazing out at the Scottish hills covered in mist and fog. Loved it, would go back for sure.
01/10/2016: Stayed at Butts Lodge 150 yards away and this and only local pub are the only places that serve evening meals. This does not have a drinks licence but you can take your own and they supply the glasses without any charge. Great selection of food, decent prices and superb service.

No 38
East Kilbride Central North, South Lanarkshire
13/09/2020: I am glad to say that No 38 is as good as ever just slightly weird with all the Covid precautions but great to see the staff again. The food was, as always, top notch and a bottle of Merlot went down well with the steak. David back in his faultless service mode ably assisted by Brandon and the Boys in the kitchen working their magic. Thoroughly lovely meal and so good to get out safely after months in shielding. Thank you Guys.
06/09/2020: This is our favourite restaurant never fails to impress, the standard of food is incredible and the presentation amazing. Highly recommended.

06/05/2021: Some of the most amazing and inventive (mussels dumplings anyone?!) seafood I have ever had anywhere! Highly recommended! And booking system works!!

Harbour View Coffee Shop
Maybole, North Carrick and Coylton, South Ayrshire, <20£
20/11/2023: If you have to wait for a table, it's definitely worth it. The food in the cafe is excellent, the situation is great and the staff are lovely. A great place for a lunch or just a coffee and baking (which is first class).
07/11/2023: Being fairly local, we frequently have a day trip to Dunure. The castle was built by one of my ancestors, and a stop at the Harbourside is a must. Vegan food available, great coffee and light meals are its forte. Recommended are the various soups, a range of homemade cakes, and the blt's deserve a mention in despatches. Nice views, too!

Kantipur Nepalese Aroma
East Kilbride South, South Lanarkshire
09/03/2024: Warm and welcoming - Food was freshly prepared and all staff were very friendly and attentive especially Deepak. Will definitely return.
28/02/2024: Our first time at Kantipur, and what a treat it was.
Staff were super friendly, particularly Dipak, and talked us through the different dishes on offer . Both meals were absolutely delicious, accompanied by the lightest pilau rice I've ever eaten , and delightful light and tasty naan bread.
If you've not been yet - you must go. We'll definitely be back !

Trafalgar Restaurant
Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
15/12/2016: So sad to find out that Wolfie and his wife have retired. There food and service were fabulous. I wish them all the best, but, I will miss them and their fabulous restaurant.

Brown Munde Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock East and Hurlford, East Ayrshire
09/03/2024: This is our first time trying this restaurant and we were not disappointed the food is absolutely fantastic, this is very different from your normal Indian restaurant. This is tapas style and gives the diner every opportunity to try new tastes. I would highly recommend this and on a plus the staff are first class with a wealth of knowledge in this industry.
04/03/2024: This was our second visit here, the food was excellent, but the service was very poor. As per other reviews we had to wait for 20mins after arrival for a drink order to be taken and another 15mins for it to arrive. The same with our starter and main course, order was taken and about 20min before our food arrived.
Cash only in this day and age is not an acceptable way to run a restaurant, probably not go back because of the poor service.

18/08/2019: My wife and I visited for dinner and the staff we very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was incredible and the whole experience wonderful. We would highly recommend and have told family and friends all about it.

Biggar Flavour
Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire
03/07/2019: Sadly the Biggar Flavour bakery shop closed on 29 June 2019. The owners continue to operate "The Orchard" next door where some of their bakery products are still made available along with jams, preserves, etc. The main difference is that they no longer provide sandwiches, ready made meals or hot savoury items.
09/04/2019: Myself along with my family use this bakery frequently. From birthday sponges, boxes of small cakes for parties to getting a quick lunch. Always fresh and tasty. Great customer service from all the staff and today I dropped my money without noticing and the owner chased after me to return it. Thanks again!

Kawiarnia Coffee House
Ayr West, South Ayrshire
24/08/2020: Was in Ayr with my family, and while my wife was maxing out the credit card in TK Maxx, I decided to take my daughter for a walk around Ayr.After a while started making my way back to the main street, but thought I would get a coffee to go.Kawlarina Coffee House is a place I have heard great things about, and can honestly see why.Good prices, great staff and most importantly, a really excellent cup of coffee. Will almost certainly be back again next time in Ayr.
10/07/2020: Great wee street side cafe/coffee place. Dog friendly and very welcoming. Coffee to die for and super quick service- well done guys!
