Crown Inn

20/10/2019: We stoped twice here recently on our way to and from Edinburgh. The food was excellent both times, but a special mention should go to the staff who were particularly great with my dad, who at nearly 90, needed a bit of help here and there.

Stags Pavilion Restaurant

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
29/08/2019: Having read the reviews we booked weeks in advance and were so pleased we did.
23/08/2019: We were lucky to get a booking - it’s fully booked well in advance. We stayed next door at the campsite and said we were dining at The Stags Pavilion - only to be greeted with “you must have booked 3 months ago”! Wonderful 3 east fish for me and the other person had the vegetarian lasagne. It was warm, comfy, homely and friendly - on a day with wild weather outside.

The BISTRO

Rutherglen Central and North, South Lanarkshire, <20£
15/10/2019: Just visited this lovely place for the second time. I have been turned away without a booking before - so make sure you book.
15/10/2019: When you visit a restaurant for the first time and it just exceeds all expectations. You are a little reluctant to return in case it somehow lets you down. Well I am so happy to say this is not the case with the Bistro. My second trip this year to the fabulous city of Glasgow and I couldn’t resist going back. The atmosphere, the friendly and very helpful staff are amazing. But the food, well it’s just exceptional. I had to try a different starter from last time and it was superb. Without a doubt I had to have the Balmorral steak with haggis for my main course. If at all possible, better than my first in March, absolutely cooked to perfection. The dessert with an amerreretto was sublime.i loved every minute. Thank You everyone for making my meal out in my favourite city so memorable! First class! God willing, I will be back.

The Chestnuts Hotel Restaurant

Ayr West, South Ayrshire
13/10/2019: I visited recently with my partner after finding somewhere to eat on Trip advisor. The restaurant is nice and cosy and we were seated straight away. I had the macaroni cheese and partner had the fajitas, both were lovely. I also like you get a free bowl of chips for the table so always the bonus. Service was quick and polite. The food was reasonably priced and would definitely recommend a visit if looking for good food in the area.

21/10/2019: The ambience was good with a modern feel to the place. Busy too so booking recommended. The tempura prawns were a little heavy on batter. Mains was bass, prawns and garlic & leek mash which was good.

braidwoods

Dalry and West Kilbride, North Ayrshire
20/10/2019: I have celebrated almost every major family celebration at Keith and Nicola Braidwood’s cottage restaurant just outside Dalry in South Ayrshire. It never disappoints. Top class menu of dishes full of flavour to die for. Every one complemented by Nicola’s excellent recommendations regarding wines. Always leave after 4 courses feeling replete but never over-stuffed. Everything on offer is top notch. My problem is deciding which dish to choose. I’ll be heartbroken when they decide to retire...
13/10/2019: Not only do they deserve a Michelin star for their food, but also because of the impecable service, who take care of every detail! We couldn’t have chosen a better place for a special family dinner, highly recommended!

Kirkton Inn Restaurant

Doon Valley, East Ayrshire
20/10/2019: We are regular visitors to the Kirkton but they have recently changed their menu so we were keen to try it out. The food was outstanding! I had duo of venison which was so delicious (especially the venison pie) and husband had fillet of sea bass which he thoroughly enjoyed too. Pudding was shared- apple tarte tatin and the Scottish cheeseboard. Everything was perfect and the service excellent from Stacey and Victoria. It is excellent value for money and rounded off the evening with a cocktail in the friendly bar. Highly recommend this fantastic place!
19/10/2019: Heading back toward AYR and seen a sign for The Kirkton Inn (Dalrymple) on the A77.

The Old Pier Tearoom

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
20/10/2019: This place is famous for its sausage rolls. This was my third visit and yet again they had run out. I was disappointed but I have to say that the food I have is always excellent and good value. Once again the service is never as quick as you would expect but when it does arrive it is pleasant. On my next visit I would like not to ask to be served as I have on the last three occasions and I would like to try a sausage roll.
17/10/2019: Stopped in here for lunch. We had nice soup and the goats cheese on focaccia. All very fresh. Nice surroundings and good service. Would recommend.
