Ayr North, South Ayrshire
18/08/2019: As almost all reviews mention this is an excellent place for a great Thai meal at a good price. The only two minus points are that even if you have booked a table you usually have to wait 10 to 15 minutes whilst they clear the previous diners. There is nowhere to wait other than the corridor to the toilets
15/08/2019: As it is my mums favourite restaurant, we booked here as a family to surprise her for her 50th Birthday.

The Sandwich Station

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, <20£
15/08/2019: The food here is exceptional, the menu is diverse and reasonably priced. Aside from being delicious all of the ingredients are organic or locally sourced. Moreover the view from the shop is stunning!
14/08/2019: For a small building the range & choice was fantastic & on a good day the views to enjoy your takeaway are stunning.

Crown Inn

Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire, <20£
16/08/2019: Me and my husband have been here twice loved it! Second time we went we got a steak and wine meal deal and it's was delicious and great value, good chef in this kitchen.
11/08/2019: Recently moved to area and called in one day. Have since been back several times for drinks and food. Great pub, staff very friendly. Sunday lunch carvery is amazing. It is now our ‘almost’ local. Just need a chauffeur to drive us there and then home

The Chestnuts Hotel Restaurant

Ayr West, South Ayrshire
10/08/2019: This is really the best place to eat in Ayr! Great menu, great food, big portions, reasonably priced. My vegetable tempura was scalding hot and amazingly crisp right to the last bite! Nice bit of salad and chips - all perfect! Fish n chips, scampi n chips, fish cakes - also fabulous! Service excellent. Cannot fault anything! Five gold stars!
07/08/2019: Met friends for lunch after long spell in hospital. Now in wheelchair so access important. Need to know your coming as entrance through bar area. Staff extremely helpful. Good choice of food and 1/2 portions available on some items. Food is excellent and not expensive. Will definitely be back in near future

Stags Pavilion Restaurant

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
10/08/2019: Over in Arran for the Highland games and booked this restaurant weeks in advance. I’m glad I did as it was every bit as good as I remembered it to be. A table of seven of us and not a single complaint.
09/08/2019: We were staying in the area and recommended to try and book. So glad we did, we ate here 2 evenings.

Lamlash Bay

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
08/08/2019: Clean and tidy but lacks character . Good location but a little too organised feeling as due to small size of the hotel and it’s popularity.
20/07/2019: We immediately liked the staff bringing pictures and pencils for the children to draw and colour. Two glasses of Chilean Merlot were good and the grandchildren has milk and juice.

Rutherglen Central and North, South Lanarkshire, <20£
14/08/2019: Enjoyed a great family evening here last weekend for my sister and brother-in-law's Ruby Wedding celebration. Great food, fantastic portions, lovely staff. Hats off to the chef and staff for getting around 30 starters and then the same number of meals and sides all out on time and without major gaps or waits, all while keeping drinks topped up.I would thoroughly recommend for a meal or a special occasion as I believe you can book it.
11/08/2019: Three of us visited for dinner on a Saturday night.

Dalry and West Kilbride, North Ayrshire
17/08/2019: We had dinner on Braidwoods in august . this restaurant has 1 Michelin star . The food was acceptable but it is not a Michelin star restaurant that is for sure .
06/08/2019: In short Braidwoods is an absolute gem of a fine dining restaurant, it is well worth going miles out of your way to find & worth waiting for (we had quite a long time to look forward to our visit having booked sometime in February for dinner on a Friday in July.

Savoy Cafe

Ayr West, South Ayrshire
17/08/2019: Heartwatming place with nice and professional team. Beatiful meals and wine! We'll be Back. Thanks 🙏💗
13/08/2019: Very friendly reception from the young owner, we arrived with a couple of guests from the US and thouroughly enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent..

Little Rock

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
14/08/2019: Visited Little Rock for my lunch today with my family and it was amazing I love it I live on the Wirral and my family live here but I adore it and love the toasties well done
12/08/2019: Popped in as we always do when staying on the island. The staff are friendly and the food it good quality. Possible the largest plate of nachos you’ll ever see. We were “difficult” customers, all ordering at separate times but this didn’t phase the staff and all meals were brought out together. It’s always busy for a reason - it’s so good! Does what are possibly the best Jacket Potatoes in the world.

The Blair

Annick, East Ayrshire
18/08/2019: Good selection of food on offer and nice cosy atmosphere. Staff are a bit rushed off their feet though as we were waiting quite a while for plates to be cleared and deserts offered. Despite that the food was very filling and good sized portions. If I’m ever in the area, I will be returning!
16/08/2019: I've been raving about the food at the Blair. Was part of a large party last week and the food and menu is excellent. The menu is quite extensive and has a gluten free alternative. The service was very good we were all well tended to. The staff were very pleasant and courteous.

Taj Mahal

Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire, >100£
17/08/2019: A great curry evening tonight with the family at the Taj Mahal, we travel a 60 mile round trip just to eat here, it never disappoints.
16/08/2019: In biggar this is the only Indian restaurant and take away and is really good. I really like the chicken tikka from the taj mahal with garlic nan of course

The Old Pier Tearoom

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
17/08/2019: I’ve had a lot of chocolate brownies, but the one I had here was by far the best. The food in this cafe is absolutely brilliant. It’s a very friendly place too. A must on any visit.
14/08/2019: Great wee busy cafe which appears to specialise in home baking given the selection and quality of the display. Staff are attentive enough and food well presented. Not great views but light and warm inside.

The Gypsy Cream

North Coast and Cumbraes, North Ayrshire
14/08/2019: Second visit and each time food has been fabulous. Soups are beautiful and sandwiches are packed full of flavour. Definitely recommend a visit.
09/08/2019: This is a busy little restaurant- always a good sign- but nonetheless I felt unrushed and unhurried when I met up with an old friend for lunch and we needed a lot of time for our catch up! The staff were lovely, and so obliging, making sure we had everything we needed. Sharon, the owner, is delightful, and makes sure everything is top notch. I was surprised at how much variety the menu offered. My goats cheese and caramelized onion panini with homemade soup was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go back!

Stags Pavilion

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
01/08/2017: This little tucked-away restaurant is not to be missed if one visits Arran. Reservations are a must and should be made several days in advance, especially during the busy summer months. I ate here with my mother, my sister who has celiac disease and my 13-year-old niece. All of us ate well, even my niece who is a finicky eater. Kids menu was expansive and suited many palates and kids and regular menu had large portions at reasonable prices. The staff were well able to accommodate my sister's special dietary needs and she ate well here, more than in other fancier restaurants we visited on our tour of Europe. I ate Arran lamb, which was tasty, and my mother ordered several platters for the table, all of which were delicious. We were very stuffed when we left, too stuffed for dessert, which I regret missing out on. I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant, and although the interior is small, it didn't feel crowded or stuffy. . It was just wonderful to eat my delicious dinner while gazing out at the Scottish hills covered in mist and fog. Loved it, would go back for sure.
01/10/2016: Stayed at Butts Lodge 150 yards away and this and only local pub are the only places that serve evening meals. This does not have a drinks licence but you can take your own and they supply the glasses without any charge. Great selection of food, decent prices and superb service.
