Little Rock

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
20/10/2020: We stopped for some cold drinks on what was a very hot day in September so didn't really sample anything else. The produce on offer looked very inviting and we would definitely use the place again if in the area. Very convenient for the ferry too.
19/10/2020: Another fantastic lunch with our family last week. Baked potatoes are perfect everytime, their home made coleslaw is delicious (delighted to see you can now buy some in their new Wee Deli shop) we also sampled kids milkshakes (big hit), hot chocolate coffees and kids meals not to mention a few different cakes, all excellent. There is always a fantastic choice of sweet treats up at the counter. The standard of service is always high and so is the cleanliness. The new Wee Deli is lovely and so are the take away meals on offer, Thai food (excellent), pies, curries, pastas are some we've seen so far. Also can't wait to try some of the wine on offer!

The Brodick Bar & Brasserie

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
28/09/2020: We had a lovely meal here - fish and chips and the lamb special. Local beer was good too. My only criticism would be that there were so many waiting staff hovering and pacing up and down it wasn’t very relaxing. Our night out lasted under an hour such was the speed of service!

No 38

East Kilbride Central North, South Lanarkshire
13/09/2020: I am glad to say that No 38 is as good as ever just slightly weird with all the Covid precautions but great to see the staff again. The food was, as always, top notch and a bottle of Merlot went down well with the steak. David back in his faultless service mode ably assisted by Brandon and the Boys in the kitchen working their magic. Thoroughly lovely meal and so good to get out safely after months in shielding. Thank you Guys.
06/09/2020: When for a fantastic meal last night at No38. This was 1st venture out since end of lock down and it didn't disappoint .Booked in advance and located a 2 hour slot.Meet at door with sanitiser and all tables individually screened from each other.Felt very safe and was looked after excellently all night.Hand sanitiser also on ever table. This restaurant has covered every base to keep us all safe! The food was to die for , had Haggis bon bon off the specials board, while Lind had Tempoura prawns which were the meanest prawns ive tasted for years. This fallow by fantastic Shin of Beef Stroganoff which was excellent. The staff always look after you in this place. If you've not tried it its a must to visit.Fantastic meal at East Kilbride's No1 eatery.

3idiots

Ayr North, South Ayrshire
05/10/2020: I would highly recommend this restaurant. The tapas dishes were of perfect portion size and the flavors were as good, if not better, than any I have had in my many years of eating Indian meals. Also covid safety standards were in place and enforced.
26/09/2020: Went here 25th sept ate off tapas menu 4 dishes between us with nan bread and rice food ok but i felt it went cold very quick and you sure don't get much not enough rice in my opinion for 2 people I'd go back but eat off main menu for portion size to sum it up good enough but I'd suggest maybe a hot plate or something to keep food hot if you have tapas menu as food all comes at the same time the young waiter that served us was first class a very polite young man

Kirkmichael Arms

Maybole, North Carrick and Coylton, South Ayrshire
24/09/2020: Ate out for dinner here. Excellent food, good service and warm welcome. Portions are generous and freshly made. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Will return again when in the area but hopefully sooner than 8 years time.
20/09/2020: The friendly, helpful service was a great start. The meals could have been made by chef Gordon Ramsay himself, as they were so good. Our waitress was very nice too. I honestly haven’t eaten out so well, and my wife had a second, same, dessert as she enjoyed it so much. What more can I say? Highly recommended 10/10.

The Sandwich Station

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, <20£
10/10/2020: We had lunch at this tiny place on their last day of business in 2020. We tried a few different sandwiches - aubergine, hot lamb and cheese. All were uniformly excellent - delicious fresh bread with fillings that were both scrumptious and imaginative. We were left wondering if we had just eaten the best sandwiches in Scotland...
01/10/2020: We walked to here from nearby Lochranza Campsite for lunch and returned before we got the ferry as they were so nice. Beautiful fresh sandwiches made to order, nice coffee and beautiful views. Right beside the ferry port too so handy for a pre sail lunch!

GRO Coffee

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
06/09/2020: After having visiting Gro Coffee a few years back for Breakfast and tasting beautiful food which I've discussed with many a friend due to the experience, it was decided that we as a small group travel from Motherwell, Lanarkshire to Ayrshire as the friends wanted to taste what I'd been raving about. There was not a disappointed person in our group....Eggs Benadict is to die for ❤️Under the circumstances of challenges we all face with the risk of Covid.... The restaurant and staff are very well organised, waiting times for food was lengthy however there is no need to stand in a queue and wait your turn.... We walked along the beach and enjoyed the fresh air and as promised a call was made to say out table was ready. Food is absolutely amazing and well worth paying that little bit extra for, let's not kid ourselves here - it's Organic, wholesome, tasty, fulfilling and worth every penny. The surroundings are very relaxing with a homely feel but most important thing to us is being able to enjoy a Sunday of contentment with your furby child - Dogs are made very welcome.Definitely will be back for another visit.
05/09/2020: Called in at Gro on our way from Largs to Troon. Had to wait 20/30 mins for a table but was certainly worth the wait. I ordered a ‘simple’ tuna cheese toastie - but you can build your own - choice of different cheeses, sides etc. And the portions are huge ! Not your usual two thin slices of toast with a bit of salad on the side !! Couldn’t leave without buying one of the huge selection of cakes - went for a Snickers brownie - but had to save it for later that evening as I couldn’t eat another thing !!The place is dog friendly as well.

The Dancing Midge Cafe

North Coast and Cumbraes, North Ayrshire
10/09/2020: Took the ferry from Largs and over to Millport for a breath of sea air. Stooped for a coffee at the small but excellent cafe. Spotted some home baking so indulged in superb cake and long forgotten empire biscuit. Very friendly and well managed under the present conditions. Hot food looked delicious too but too early for lunch. Walked off the calories on way back to the ferry. Happy days.
09/09/2020: Called in for the all day breakfast after doing the inner circle walk on what was a very dreich day. We were very glad we did - both the service and food were excellent and the brunch so filling that we didnt need anything else for the whole day. The white painted walls of the cafe immediately make you feel brighter and warmer and the hanging dividers between tables and the other covid precautions make you feel safe. Our only mistake was sitting at the table near the door because the wind we thought we'd left behind kept trying to get in

Dough

Troon, South Ayrshire
30/08/2020: That's a few times we've phoned to collect an order after being recommended by a friend. Their politeness and checking of your order makes it very easy and the time you ask for it is the time it's ready for you. I've tried various types but have to say the "sweet chili" is without doubt the best pizza I have had,, anywhere!!The base is perfect, the same consistency from the centre to the edges, not the kind where you nearly break your teeth on the crust. The sauce is delicious with the toppings covering the whole pizza not sparsely spread. It's a joy to collect and sit looking over the water to the beautiful Arran thoroughly enjoying the flavours and taste of these delicious pizzas. Bliss!!
19/08/2020: Got two takeaway pizza's, both vegetarian and both delicious, very reasonably priced too. Staff were courteous and polite, said 15 minutes until ready and exactly right. Recommended.

Lamlash Bay

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
09/10/2020: Felt really safe with the efforts by staff for covid. Staff friendly and informative and delicious food. Had to go twice just to try more of the menu!!
08/10/2020: A small but excellent choice of dishes, probably because of the Covid situation. Everything brought hot to the table. Dining room can be a little noisy at times, but generally the atmosphere was very pleasant. Nice wine, too! Staff friendly and very helpful. A nice experience overall.

Stefano's Italian

Bothwell and Uddingston, South Lanarkshire
08/09/2020: Came here under the extended eat out and help out campaign. It continues to be one of the best in this area. Hubby’s bruschetta was amazingly fresh. I managed to steal a mouthful. My veal was absolutely divine whilst Hubby’s steak was stunning. Glad I ordered the extra zucchini. Absolutely lovely. Our bottle of Lugana was just perfect. They even replaced my glass of Prosecco when I knocked over the previous glass. Love this restaurant. Pls continue to do your best. Perfect. Can’t wait to be back.
24/07/2020: This was our first venture out since lockdown was lifted. The guys have done an amazing job ensuring all the guidelines are met but have not lost the intimate experience of the restaurant.Food was fantastic - clean, fresh, delicious. Had the T-Bone steak which was cooked to perfection at medium-rare.Was lovey to meet Stefano as he came to say hello to everyone at the end of service. Was our first visit since moving to the area but we cant wait to get back.

Woody's Ice Cream

Ballochmyle, East Ayrshire
27/09/2020: We decided to pay a wee visit to our favourite ice cream shop, it's about 35 miles round trip but worth it. We got some wispa gold cookie doughs, kit Kat cheesecake and white choc dazzle ice cream, which were all delicious and portions were good sizes. The ice cream is all made from fresh ayrshire cows milk which makes the ice cream so creamy.Definitely worth paying this little hidden gem a visit!
31/07/2020: Always a pleasure coming here. It's well worth the thirty mile round trip. Always a good choice of flavours.
