Stags Pavilion

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
25/08/2018: Went for my first meal at Stags. Went with family who live on the island at their recommendation and they were right. Had a full lobster meal which was freshly caught that morning and it was exceptional. My pudding was a Arran gold cheesecake made with locally produced whiskey. (just over the road) Another win. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we went home full.
18/08/2018: A very good and imaginative menu, beautifully cooked and presented. No licence, so bring your own wine, although I liked the tap water.

07/08/2018: a place that the crowds of weekend tourist tend not to find so keep it quiet lol. i found on my little walk up to the map makers place yes someone still makes maps and in a small village like largs, what a lovely cafe very attentive and not rammed full of bloody dog walkers.

The Dancing Midge Cafe

North Coast and Cumbraes, North Ayrshire
31/08/2018: On a beautiful Friday afternoon in Millport we planned, having been before, to have a cup of coffee and a scone at TDM. Arriving at just before four o clock we were told in no uncertain terms that the cafe was closed, despite there being people still in the cafe. No wonder the place is up for sale with service like that .
23/08/2018: We really enjoyed this small cafe, which you come to as you enter the town of Millport from the East. The staff were very friendly, the coffee and scones were delicious and we were given a tray to take them out to the bench by the sea. The view from this cafe is one of the best in the town, looking over the harbour to Arann. There are lovely (locally maintained) toilets nearby.

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, >100£

Stage Door Cafe at the Gaiety

Ayr West, South Ayrshire, 20-30£
18/08/2018: We had dinner here last week and it was by far the best meal we have had for a long time. The service and ambience were perfect and the food was absolutely delicious with an inventive, interesting menu beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. This was our first visit as we had tried to get a table on other occasions but it is always really busy so I would recommend you book first. Looking forward to our next visit.
30/07/2018: Having read and been shocked by an earlier review I felt I had to give positive feedback. We had such a wonderful evening meal last Monday night we ended up returning for a lunch and another evening dinner whilst on holiday in Ayr. We both chose from the two courses for £10 menu for our evening meals and could not believe the high standard and value for money. This cafe / restaurant is as good as some of Edinburgh's top restaurants! I would thoroughly recommend the salmon for both flavour and presentation. My husband really enjoyed his generous portion of goujons and fries. Keep up the great work guys.

Taj Mahal

Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire, >100£
14/08/2018: We were out for a day in the area and stopped here to eat based on trip advisor reviews. My friend and I were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome from the manager and our meal was delicious. We chose garlic mushrooms, chicken pakora, chicken Kashmiri korma, chicken Lahori, peshwari nan and pilau rice. All of our dishes were cooked fresh and full of flavour. Generous portions at a great price. We highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
08/08/2018: Passing through town for work and decided to stop in for dinner. Best choice we’ve ever made! The best customer service I have received in the UK. The best curry I have had in the UK. The best (only) gluten free naan bread I have had anywhere! Super knowledge of menu and what was gluten free. If you are in the area, make the effort to get here, maybe book ahead as it was quite busy. A lovely family-run place, left with a smile and a full belly!

Wee Hurrie

Troon, South Ayrshire
15/08/2018: This place was recommended to us through our air bnb and we made sure to check it out on the way out of town. We had the monkfish and salmon and would say the latter was the winner. Spicy chips were amazing and we hit it at a point where there was no crowd. HUGE PORTIONS. Highly recommended for a quick and filling meal.
