Ayr North, South Ayrshire
12/02/2020: Having travelled extensively in Thailand over the years it’s great to find a local restaurant that brings Thailand to Ayr! Friendly and helpful Thai staff, consistently excellent food and the takeaway service is super fast!

The Sandwich Station

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, <20£
19/11/2019: This place is in a wonderful location and has a great menu of imaginative sandwiches on different types of bread. They also do homemade soups, cakes and hot and cold drinks.
22/10/2019: Having read the reviews I ate the home made sausage roll- which was excellent. My daughter spotted the Mac&Cheese; and decided to have that. Very go

Crown Inn

Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire, <20£
12/02/2020: We ate here the evening before attending a Wedding at Cornhill Castle ....... the service was good and the restaurant had a lovely ambience. Whilst the food we ordered was really lovely, the beef in my dish was very undercooked, which was hugely disappointing as it was a lovely rendang dish and the sauce was immense!! The manager immediately removed the cost from our bill and had also tried the dish himself and agreed it should not have been served as had not been cooked for long enough. I honestly cannot complain though about the service etc as these things do happen in restaurants and it is how the management then deal with the situation that is important and he handled it all perfectly. I would happily dine in here again, my husbands meal was beautiful :)
06/02/2020: This is a great place with good food and atmosphere.. Staff are excellent even when a little busy they still manage to look after you well. Especially Eleanor .. Don't miss a visit if you are out for a run to Biggar

Cafe Thyme

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, 20-30£
22/11/2019: Cafe Thyme is a smart, modern cafe at the Old Byre centre. As well as soups, imaginative salads, burgers and a good selection of Turkish pide they also serve very good home baking to have with your tea or coffee. And certainly worth a mention is the panoramic window with fabulous views to the sea and Kintyre beyond.

GRO Coffee

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
21/02/2020: I was served cold food and cold coffee, despite asking for my latte to be hot! Scones were awful too.
19/02/2020: Wow. We did a round trip of 40 miles just to get these cakes!!! Strawberry tarts were the size of saucers with the strawberries big and juicy. Who could not have enjoyed them. Then came the ‘tray bakes’ - honeymoon slice and Malteser slice couldn’t decide so had both, just a small piece and wasn’t disappointed tasted great. Didn’t stop there had the red velvet sponge. This was moist and delicious. Needed a lie down after all that. Although please note I did share all these treats with 3 other people!!!

Kirkton Inn Restaurant

Doon Valley, East Ayrshire
18/02/2020: Called in for lunch on a cold, wet, stormy Friday, to find the restaurant was actually very busy, always a good sign. We got a table straight away and served by very friendly, helpful staff. I had the haddock and chips, my wife had the steak pie. Both were delicious, followed by the most delightful lemon meringue roulade and coffees. Although we are not locals we have visited a few times when passing, for both lunches and dinners, and have never been disappointed. We will certainly return, and would highly recommend the Kirkton Inn.
