The Sandwich Station

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, <20£
12/11/2018: Don't expect the ritz. It is what it says. A bit expensive really, but then you are a captive audience on an island.
06/11/2018: You get a total surprise when you enter this small sandwich shop. It is like a dream! All bread is locally baked, ingredients are locally sourced and not a boring filling in sight!

The Old Pier Tearoom

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
10/11/2018: A gorgeous victoria sponge cake, home made sausage roll with side salad and a super salad dressing... Do go there as the food is great and folks really friendly.
06/11/2018: Very vibrant, buzzing little eatery. Took a while to get served but boy was it worth it. My fish and chips were some of the best I've had and yet hardly any more pricey than the average fish and chip shop. The beer batter was really light and tasty. My partner had a simple meal of sausage, egg and chips and his too was nicely prepared and very tasty.

Savoy Cafe

Ayr West, South Ayrshire
07/11/2018: We just stopped in last minute midweek for dinner and were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Both of us have special dietary requirements which they were more than happy to accommodate. The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. I highly recommend their GF fish and chips. Looking forward to our next visit.
07/11/2018: Went for a special occasion and was not disappointed. The food was fabulous and Fabio the waiter made some mean cocktails. Will be back.

The Coffee Pot

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
18/10/2018: We have eaten here twice this week during our stay on Arran. Staff are so attentive and the food is all homemade and super fresh. From milkshakes and delicious coffees to homemade soups, paninis, baguettes, kids’meals and homebaking. Today’s broccoli and cheese quiche (served with salad, coleslaw and fries) is probably the best I’ve ever tasted - we’d definitely recommend this little gem of a place!
13/10/2018: Stopped here for a snack lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find an extensive menu. Well worth a visit!!

Stags Pavilion

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
04/11/2018: Despite visiting Arran for more than 20 years, this was our first visit to Stags Pavilion after seeing the reviews on TripAdvisor. We weren't disappointed. In the idyllic setting of Lochranza with the sound of roaring stags in the background, this restaurant is just fantastic! On our table our starters ranged from baked camembert to minestrone soup and they were consistently excellent. The mains stole the show though. The lamb, a mainstay on the menu was beautifully tender, the shin beef I had melted like fish and the languistines had a pure taste of the sea. Tasty desserts rounded off the meal. On top of this, we had a lovely warm welcome from Valerie. A must visit on the island for sure.
29/10/2018: We discovered this wonderful place to eat in October 2018. Situated in Lochranza this restaurant is very popular and well patronised by both locals and holidaymakers alike. In the holiday season you will need to book WEEKS in advance. Run by husband and wife team Rino and Valerie Pisano (Rino does all the cooking and Valerie takes care of front of house) Rino cooks food to die for - delicious, mouthwatering and beautifully presented, whilst Valerie bakes wonderful sweets - her raspberry meringue is an absolute dream!.

Wee Hurrie

Troon, South Ayrshire
07/11/2018: Superb food, always a slight wait due to the sheer number of people. You need to plan for this. Homemade tartare sauce. Top tip - take carrier bags or a cool back to carry your dinner home. Can not wait to return!
06/11/2018: Wee Hurrie is a throwback to an old-fashioned "chip shop." It's located about 10 feet from the water at the end of the docks. There is a small "L" shaped counter with 4 or 5 stools. The fish & chips is first rate! Choices include haddock, cod, and other fish, which are cooked to order right in front of you. My wife and I split an order of fried haddock with a side of chips and they were as good as any I've ever had. Another customer ordered onion rings, and I'm sorry I didn't order them, too. A GREAT find! I'll be back

Stage Door Cafe at the Gaiety

Ayr West, South Ayrshire, 20-30£
09/11/2018: I went here for my birthday breakfast and really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. I had poached eggs and they were cooked to perfection. My daughter had a vegetarian breakfast and she enjoyed it too.
09/11/2018: The place was quiet when we arrived, despite this we were shown to a table next to the serving hatch. We requested a move to the nearest vacant table two away and next to the wall. The staff member informed us that she would have to check , and while she was gone another couple were given the table. We stayed where we were , this place used to be accommodating. We ordered and my wife asked for a ciabatta with her poached eggs . This was refused as it was before 12, so toast it was. This was never a problem before.

The Blair

Annick, East Ayrshire
28/10/2018: The Blair is a good place to go for food. It's a pity it's out the road and tricky to get too... but that means it's got to be bang on. Food was great service good. Took a while to get seated (Not like them to be fair). Recommended.
26/10/2018: Great meal all round tonight. Enjoyed the MacDaddy burger on the special menu - can't wait to have it again. My friend had her favourite Coconut Chicken which was spot on as ever.
