Martins Bar & Grill

Ayr West, South Ayrshire, >100£
21/05/2019: We were staying at the Fairfield Hotel, but if we would definitely eat here again even if not staying at the hotel. The food was delicious, but make sure that you are hungry, as the portions are large. Prices are very reasonable too.
31/03/2019: This restaurant was part of Fairfield House Hotel where we stayed and we had 2 evening meals here. The food choice was good and the bar area was nice for a drink before the meal. The staff were friendly and helpful as I was on a special diet.

The Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen

Irvine West, North Ayrshire, <20£
01/06/2019: I just came for drinks on a Friday evening, many years since I had been and was curious as to this places evolution.
30/04/2019: We came here for the simple reason that it was closest to our accommodation and I am still trying to work out what this place is trying to be. It presents itself as a restaurant/pub, but the pounding music makes it an unlikely choice for a meal and the glaring lighting makes the place feel more like a waiting room than a place for a drink. It was an almost surreal experience where the barmaid struggled with an order of a pint and one gin and tonic, had to confirm the order several times, made four attempts at pouring a pint before succeeding and struggled with the word "Carling". She excused her performance with having been on shift since 3 o'clock. It wasn't even 9, and there were 5 other customers in the place, all of whom seemed to be friends who took turns at the music desk and wandering behind the bar to charge phones. It felt more like we'd accidentally walked into shared student accommodation than a licensed venue. We were back in Irvine a few days later. We took a taxi straight past this place to a place more to our liking. I would not revisit.

The Poachers Restaurant and Lounge

Clydesdale South, South Lanarkshire
02/10/2017: despite being given a restricted choice of 6.30 or 8 o clock to book a table we arrived to find the restaurant half empty. ok its a nice enough eating area but we were a bit surprised to be seated next to a squad of workmen still in their working gear. i dont think this would have been allowed to happen in a city restaurant .perhaps they could have been allocated an area in the bar ,i dont know ,its your buisness after all .the menu is very limited and did not offer anything that would be available at another eatery opposite tescoes and cost a bit less.i had heard that the restaurant had a good chef on board but was disapointed to find deep fried and frozen meals .if your just after good pub grub it might suit you but not enough interesting dishes to get me back !
05/06/2017: He visitado este restaurante una vez antes y disfruté de mi segunda visita.

Top Dexter

Ballochmyle, East Ayrshire, <20£
21/08/2018: Popped in for breakfast on a Monday morning en-route to Glasgow from our campsite.
08/08/2018: Was in Muirkirk and went into Top Dexter for breakfast. Excellent value at £11 for two of us for full breakfast plus mug of coffee and tea. The food was delicious and obviously good quality (not cheap breakfast items). The breakfast consisted of two rashers of thick bacon, sausage, sliced sausage, two hash browns, beans, fried egg, potato scone and two slices of toast - excellent value and very tasty. The lady who served us was also very friendly. Will definitely return on my next hillwalking expedition to Muirkirk.

Taj Kitchen

Irvine Valley, East Ayrshire
30/12/2018: Amazing takeaway, food always delicious and warm. Delivery can be a bit rubbish at times but that speaks for it self when that busy.
16/10/2018: I have Indian takeaway restaurants closer to where I stay, but I really like the food from here. Any curries I have had have been excellent, but my favourite has to be the Turkish Feast pizza.

Le Restaurant @ Campanile Glasgow Airport

Blantyre, South Lanarkshire
26/01/2019: We booked 2 nights at the Campanile to attend an event at the SEC and have a special birthday few drinkies along the way.
21/04/2016: While we was waiting for flight we decided to have some munching time! I would say food was delicious, price was reasonable! When it comes down to food they bring it to your table but if it's drinks we talk about you have to manage yourself- keep in my you have your handbag in one hand and drinks in other hand trying to not spill it while getting to your table. So for that reason 4 out of 5*
