Sadly the Biggar Flavour bakery shop closed on 29 June 2019. The owners continue to operate "The Orchard" next door where some of their bakery products are still made available along with jams, preserves, etc. The main difference is that they no longer provide sandwiches, ready made meals or hot savoury items.

Myself along with my family use this bakery frequently. From birthday sponges, boxes of small cakes for parties to getting a quick lunch. Always fresh and tasty. Great customer service from all the staff and today I dropped my money without noticing and the owner chased after me to return it. Thanks again!

Stopped off in Biggar last Friday with my daughter during a journey south. We always pop into Biggar Flavour for some snacks when journeying south, and have done for many, many years, even dating back to when the shop was called Gibsons. The only reason we never pop in on our journey back north is because it is always late evening and the shop is closed! There is always a good choice of food to choose from. I had a steak pie and a bacon roll. My daughter has an allergy to soya, eggs and dairy, and I must say that the staff were very pleasant and helpful in letting her know what she could safely have to eat. She ended up choosing a pear and chestnut brownie. Worth mentioning here that they also cater for vegan and gluten free customers. Prices are reasonable. Food is always enjoyable. Our favourite place in Biggar!

We call in here every year for food on our way back home from Edinburgh. The food is delicious and all home made. £22 for 2 pies each and drinks for a family of 5 is an absolute bargain. They even deliver across country - will have to look into that. The staff are so helpful - the owner even rang the local butcher to see if he had some haggis for our friend. We will see you again next year 😊 xx

Beautiful bread, well presented quality sandwiches all at half the price of very near pubs. Very much competition for the "coffee shop" rivalries across the road. This little shop was so welcoming, cheap and good quality. We will be back. Thank you for your hospitality.

It is now just over a month since my first gastronomic vksit to this establishment....much more than a bakery. This gem sells wonderful ready meals, desserts, tray bakes, jams, and next door, The Orchard, oh so fresh produce, and so much more. There is an extensive monthly menu of ready meals that would appeal to children, those of us who don't cook for ourselves, and someone who wants a night off to enjoy fine dining at home. This is now where I do my weekly shop enjoying generous, reasonably priced, explosion of flavour meals. So much to choose from...nothing processed, cooked to perfection, a knife is not required for great roasts etc. Also no additives and no extra seasoning required. Do purchase one of their breads....I s!ice mine and freeze it using when wanted. My test for good home made bread is to eat a slice completely plain.....I could have eaten the entire loaf at once. Great for mopping up every last delicious drop of sauce and gravy and soup. The quiche has the most wonderful pastry that melts in the mouth as does the filling....easily serves three people. Tray bakes large, great biscuits, cheese cake and berry sponges as well. All fresh ingredients. Phone orders are taken before noon Wednesdays for quick delivery. For the first time in years I am dining on fine meals and look forward to it. The proprietors Cook with love and passion which is evident in all produce. I will not shop anywhere else. See you next month for another review and thank you for making meal times wonderful cuisine.

Although I am not new to the sister shop, The Orchard, which stocks superb selection and quality of produce, Biggar Flavour was a happy accident. I had been to the optician and unable to drive for two hours. The array of snacks and cakes was irrestible. I had a wonderful fresh coffee and mallow slice sitting in the sub. Friendly service and a chat with the proprietor led me to be shown their ready meals. I am a senior and don't cook, usually daily diet of,cereal and toast, so I was shown a plethora of the most appealing ready meals, starters and desserts. I ate my first meal tonight....peppered pork with veg....not a bit of fat or gristle and home veg perfect. Generous serving. It was difficult to not buy one of each. I will never purchase a ready meal from a supermarket again. Even has monthly menus and you are able to phone in an order and have it delivered to your home. Biggar Flavour and The Orchard only place to food shop. All natural ingredients..no additives and make best ever jam. Wish I lived in Biggar. When the street paving repairs project in Biggar started to overrun by weeks rumours started to circulate about possible causes. A few mentioned the weather (it’s Scotland so that‘s a given); others spoke of the gas pipes buried under the site of the town’s enormous New Year bonfire; and someone humorously mounted a hand-written sign next to a hole in the ground suggesting that the search for Lord Lucan had resumed in town. Stick with me now… My own theory on the subject was triggered by memories of the 1990’s TV programme “Twin Peaks” where those old enough will recall Special Agent Cooper spent several seasons spinning out the murder investigation of Laura Palmer, sustained only by “damn fine coffee and cherry pie”. Was he a poor investigator or was he just hooked on the pie?I don’t think I’ve seen cherry pie in Biggar Flavour however I suspect that the guys working on the street project have tried quite a few of the other delights, perhaps including the shop’s own “Cadgers Pie” (a Scotch pie with a boiled egg in the centre and topped with melted cheese). It’s damn fine too.Frequent visits to the shop for their lunch and tea breaks may have prolonged their work, especially with the prospect of moving elsewhere with only a Greggs to turn to for sustenance. It’s all just speculation. What is known is that this independent, family-run, award-winning bakers in the High Street is very good. They haven’t turned their hand to cherry pie (yet) to my knowledge however that is one of the few things which hasn’t been produced in-house. They make their own bread of all descriptions, an ever-changing selection of cakes (I’m partial to their cheesecakes, key-lime pie and Empire Biscuits), soups, sandwiches & wraps to individual preferences, jams & preserves and have even cornered a slice of the ready made meals market with their own version of dishes, the menu for which gets updated each month. If Agent Cooper is looking for the evidence it’s on the walls behind the counter and on the window displays - they’ve won umpteen awards for what they do and when you’re in the shop it’s delivered with a smile and friendly chat.Oh, and they also do coffee (haven’t tried that but I’m guessing it’s probably “damn fine” too).

The soup and toasties and the amazing selection of slices were delicious and we just had to get extras 'for the road'...a highly recommended place to stop on the road to or from Edinburgh...we would be back but it's a bit far from Australia!

I have been around this area for many years and recently discovered by pure chance this gem of a shop. It traded as a bakers and to be honest I never bothered, but to my delight I discovered they had expanded. Traditional and popular dishes made fresh on a daily basis. I have found their dishes to be great value for money and full of flavour, I have also requested a lower fat version to which they willingly obliged. Nothing is any trouble. The staff are always welcoming and friendly . Apart from the great choice of take away dishes, they sell a rather large variety of exceedingly yummy cakes and tray bakes. The smell of fresh bread wafts as you go in. If I thought I could get away with it, I would never cook a meal again. They have taken fresh ingredients, prepared and packaged them in good portion sizes, and are appealing to the eye. I have replaced all ready meals in my freezer with Biggar Flavour dishes. I would highly recommend a visit . Oh!! The key lime pie is to die for .

This place is more than just a gem, it sets the bar for all other bakers. Had a brilliant Scotch pie and sausage roll, followed by a tasy custard cream biscuit - scrumptious! This place is worth the drive even on a wind-swept, rainy day. The first of MANY visits I hope.

Biggar Flavour is a ‘must visit’ for fans of classy baking, most notably the terrific variety of tray bakes. The soda & oven scones are excellent, cheese in particular. Pop next door to The Orchard for some Biggar Blue cheese & award-winning Seville orange marmalade.

A fantastic bakery with a wide array of offerings! They make up amazing hampers to your specification (ideal for Christmas presents). The staff were ever so welcoming and I will definitely be making another visit soon! The quality of food they offer is second to none although the only problem I had was trying to choose what to get as everything looked ever so tempting! :-)

I have been working in the Biggar area a few times recently and look forward to lunchtime when buying lunch here. Home made coleslaw is excellent and there is a good range of different cakes and traybakes you dont see in regular bakers.

Popped in to Biggar and had to stop at Biggar Flavour based on previous reviews. Wonderful varied selection, beautiful range of tempting treats and lovely friendly people. Purchased a selection of home made pies which were all quite simply superb. "The bestest pies ever" said my 8 yr old son. Do yourselves a favour and stop here to get something yummy for your tummy.

I have been vegan for many years and never miss any foods that contain animal products. One thing I do miss though, when I see lovely home baking in a shop, is being able to go in and buy something--- so frustrating because actually there are many delicious treats that can easily be vegan, but most places routinely use eggs and dairy products wthout giving it a thought. Biggar Flavour is different though. Yes, there are loads of delicious looking cakes with fresh cream etc. but they also make a selection of absolutely scrumptious cakes which are suitable for vegans-- and usually are also gluten free, so people who have a gluten intolerance can also treat themselves. Pecan and cranberry flapjacks, lemon polenta and berry slices, carrot cake, apricot macaroons-- to name but a few. Using fine ingredients and imagination they ring the changes and I give in to temptation every time. Add friendly service to this, and Biggar Flavour is a shop well worth a visit.

Discovered this place about 6 months ago while out for a drive with my husband and now we always try to pass on our day off to pick up lunch. Food is great with sandwiches and soup always really fresh and you can always count on getting a great piece of cake. The only trouble is choosing what to buy as there is such a variety (it all looks tempting) many a time I have came out with way too much to eat but it tastes so good. I recommend the honeymoon slice which is the best thing I have ever tasted even though I don't normally eat sweet things! It also does a great range of jams and chutneys and the service has always been excellent when we have been in. Definatly worth the trip.

Although I haven't been into the shop, I hired Biggar Flavour to do my wedding cake - a tower of cupcakes! They were wonderful, everyone at my wedding commented on how tasty they were. I got nine flavours - from a choice of dozens! - and each flavour came with its own specific decoration. The cupcakes were very pretty and so so tasty! I also ordered sandwiches and they were lovely too - unusual flavour combinations like chicken mayo and grape, which is my favourite. All in all, beautiful food and wonderful service! A must!
