Amazing for late dinner. Quick service, good selection from menu & staff so attentive. Menu also has options for wee ones who may not like Indian food.

Food excellent, great selection of drinks too, well priced. Just what Halfway needs, a “sit-in” Indian restaurant ( with a selection of Scottish fare too) Staff, fun, friendly and very attentive. Well worth a visit, especially if local - well within walking distance of all the large housing estates - you won’t be disappointed.

This was our first time at the restaurant since it underwent renovation/name change. The decor was lovely as was the new layout. There were four of us in our party and we were looking forward to lunch. Sammy the birthday boy chose the sirloin steak from the a la carte menu (£21.95) which arrived sizzling on a bed of onions and peppers, served with mushrooms and fries. Thumbs up👍Said it was excellent. Marina thoroughly enjoyed the Southern Fried Chicken with fries, coleslaw and dip (£9.50) and Liz and I had the three-course business lunch (£12.95 each). Quite a jump on the previous price but still well worth it for the quality as well as quantity. We had starters of lentil soup and veggie pakora. Both of us had steak pie which is served with the most amazing pastry, gravy, veggies and mash. The beef was so tasty and totally melt-in-the-mouth gorgeous. Ice cream with raspberry sauce finished a wonderful lunch. Many thanks to the wonderfully attentive staff, who ensured that all was OK and that we had everything we needed. We'll be back VERY soon. NB: Only one complaint. The background music wasn't a hit. Three of four disliked it. Me? I'll listen to anything as long as it's not jazz.

Although still labelled in Trip Advisor as "Velvet Bar & Grill", this venue is now known as "Grill & Banter". It has recently moved under new ownership/management, and I understand they're opening a second restaurant at the same site. I've got to say that their lunch options are very good value (either £6.95 or £7.95 for three courses, although £1.95 extra for pakora on the cheaper option). And for us, the food was great. Veg and haggis pakoras both went down well (chilli sauce dip is superb). The mains of steak pie and roast turkey were also very good. Good portion size too, considering the price. The bad new, and what totally soured the experience for us, was the very poor service. This was a Monday lunchtime visit, with less than 25% of the tables occupied, so a quiet-ish day. Shown to our table on arrival, and given menus, great so far. After 10 minutes, I had to stop a waitress and ask for the dish of the day details (soup, roast, curry). Another few minutes before order taken. A few minutes again to collect starter plates, then brought the mains. Mains plates collected, no mention of dessert. Staff then seemed to be non-existent for a while. After about 20 minutes, with the restaurant even quieter than when we went in, a waiter (possibly the owner) appeared, so I asked for the bill, deciding I didn't want to wait any longer and willing to forget about my dessert. He seemed a bit surprised we didn't want our ie-cream, but wasn't too fussed when we said we'd been waiting too long. He didn't ask if everything had been okay or if we'd enjoyed our meal, which I expect to be asked every time, so that was disappointing. I'd go back for the food, but only if I had nothing to do and could afford to be kept waiting.

This place was mobbed. 35 minutes for a takeaway. Machines did not give a receipt with a number, no number displayed on the screen. Lots of staff but Managemet not helping much. It was just utter carnage in that place. I felt really sorry for the staff who still managed to remain calm and courteous. McDonald's get some sort of structure that works

Utterly horrible. The place is understaffed; they had someone ensuring queues were proper one day, the next, no-one. Sick of the fact they allow other kids to skip like vultures or people who’ve starved themselves for a month and still serve them. At one point, it took me 30 minutes to get served when I was halfway in the line, where I originally. If you can’t even operate something as little as a cafe efficiently, don’t even bother operating it at all. Go to Agnews or (can’t believe I am recommending them) Grade-A.

I do wish this place all the best as it’s relatively new to the area and I hope our bad experience was a one off. For us though, it just was not great in terms of ambiance, service, drinks and food. We would just really struggle to consider going back. However, I do wish the team all the best... for us though, it just needs to ‘up its game’.
