Really lovely cafe with tasty coffee, smoothies and pastries. Visited twice whilst in Edinburgh and the staff were really friendly and helpful

I don’t usually review food but feel like I didn’t get my moneys worth. I ordered 2 x large hoagie wraps and they were perfect, two boys are stuffed and happy however I ordered a chicken kebab and the chicken was so thin I actually had mistaken it for Donner meat. It was lukewarm when it came which put me off as chicken has to be heated to at least 75-95 degrees to be safe to eat. Not sure if it was a busy day in kitchen or I just got the end of the kebab so it was thin but don’t think it’s fair to spend nearly 30 pounds on an order and my food isn’t hot enough and it’s barely chunks of chicken Requested a refund for the tikka.

My wife and sister in law attended on the Saturday and just had to return on the Sunday (this time with me and her husband) for a roast dinner. The restaurant has a side to accommodate dogs, so a win-win. The meals were excellent and great value for £s. We just couldn’t leave the place and stayed a while given the cosy ambience / atmosphere with fairy lights and in front of the cosy fire. Staff were so friendly too. For those walking, while the path from the BP garage isn’t great for a short section of what is a busy road, mind this venue is easily accessible via Eastfield, so easy to get to for residents from Blackwood, Broadwood, Westfield, Eastfield and Balloch, so you can leave the car at home (and have a beer, glass of wine 😁. Looking forward to going back this weekend. Cheers, Frank

Booked a table for 6 o’clock on a Saturday, booking was confirmed everything seemed okay. On Saturday noticed it said they were closed on Saturday so phoned up and were told they were closed.. we had not been informed and our special occasion was ruined as couldn’t get booked in anywhere else on such short notice. Very disappointed.

The Brel in Ashton Lane in Glasgow is a place that strikes you first and foremost for its atmosphere. Located in one of the most particular streets of the city, it offers a welcoming and refined environment, perfect for a relaxing evening in company. Prices are average, especially considering the area. Overall the experience is worth it.

Lovely little restaurant in the heart if the city where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch for my Birthday. The food was delicious although I found the portions a little on the small side and there wasn't the usual offering of a complimentary basket of bread you get in most French restaurants. I appreciate that the price of everything has sky rocketed recently so I think this may be why. I had the Roquefort soufflé when was so tasty, although the salad was a little sparse and I finished it in what felt like seconds and had to wait a while for my partner to finish his goats cheese salad. I had the cod with squid stuffed courgette for my main course which was absolutely delicious, although quite a small portion again. My partner had the pheasant which he enjoyed. We didn't opt for dessert but had brandy and coffee which came with a lovely little cake on the side. The staff and who I think must have been the owner were absolutely lovely. Would definitely recommend as the food was delicious, only marking it down as I was still a little hungry after my main course. The bottle of Viognier we ordered was very good and reasonable at £30.

Amazing service- accommodated 11 month old no problem. Just a walk in lunch- no reservation. Two friends out for lunch with a baby. Didn’t feel like a burden, like we could be included and have a lovely meal even with a baby. Lovely environment. Great staff. Food phenomenal. Didnt order any drinks but would love to go back for cocktails another time.

Warm and friendly welcome apon arrival. My partner and myself went here for lunch. We both ordered the smothered platter. This was cooked to perfection and honestly excellent value for money. Betty the bar staff was very friendly and helpful and made our experience even better. Thank you will definitely return.

Checked the sign on the door early in the day that clearly stated dinner was served on Sunday between 5pm and 7pm - we double checked this online. However, when we turned up at 6.30pm the place was empty and we were told they were closed. This is not the first time we have tried to eat here and been disappointed. Update your information, and make sure it’s accurate.
