I had my 90th birthday celebration at this hotel and was very impressed with the food, staff and attention we received. I can certainly recommend it for a special event. I only saw the bedrooms as we live very near the hotel and did not stay overnight but they were very tastefully furnished.

Got married in Carnbooth House Hotel on 28 April 2013 and had a wonderful day. Returned there last night on our 5th Wedding Anniversary for dinner. Food was as good as I remembered as were the staff on duty who were friendly, helpful and provided great service. We have such wonderful memories of our special day which have now been added to with our 5th wedding anniversary meal.

Booked for lunch on Good Friday with my wife. When we arrived there were no cars in the car park which was ominous for a 1 o’clock booking. We were shown to our table but we were the only guests in the restaurant and remained so until we left. My wife ordered Cullen Skink but the smoked haddock appeared to be missing. My Stornaway black pudding with pork belly was served with what looked and tasted like dried up smoked mackerel. I was assured it was pork belly. Don’t know what it was. We both had the cod with thrice cooked chips on a bed of leeks. The leeks were the green part uncooked (steamed perhaps) and tough and the top layer of chips were ok but underneath they were not normal chips but dried up potato wedges. Fortunately the fish was tasty Overall a very poor meal with no atmosphere. No one except our friendly waitress came to apologise. Now we know why the restaurant was empty We won’t be back

My family celebrated my husband's birthday yesterday at the restaurant in Carnbooth. I called at 8.30am to explain that our daughter was a very fussy vegetarian. Jamie passed this on to the chef, whom I wish to stress, was fabulous in arranging a lovely menu especially for Sarah. When we arrived at 7pm for dinner Robert and Jamie warmly welcomed us and seated us at a comfortable table. Music was played at the exact volume in the comfortable, suitably lit restaurant. Jamie was attentive and helpful in discussing our menu, wine order and a mocktail order for our designated driver. we had our order for dinner taken by another very nice young man. Robert, the manger and these two young men ran the restaurant on their own all evening. Not an easy task when several people want a drink or an order at the same time. The food was delicious. High praise to the chef. It was not lost on us that Jamie had taken my call at 8.30am and was still working over 12 hours later, on a very long shift! Not that you would know by his personable, diligent manner. This young man is an absolute credit to this establishment. as is their chef. I do hope the management/owner are aware of this.A hotel is only as good as its staff, after all. Another wonderful experience at the lovely carnbooth.

I felt compelled to write a review given the negativity I read when checking out the hotel pre-visit. Just had a lovely meal. The food was delicious; the Cullen Skink being the highlight. Service was excellent. Chilled post-meal in the lounge. A great evening all round: will definitely be back.

Just finished an amazing two course meal for two with bottle of wine. A lovely gift for Christmas from someone special. The whole experience was impressive, from the ambiance, attentive staff, warm fire (with snow outside)! Not to mention the incredible food. Starter we had Cullen Skink and the pâté. Both of us had chicken, with haggis, dauphinois potatoes, mustard mash, kale, carrots and butternut squash with red wine jús. Too stuffed for pudding but will be back!

We visited this restaurant on boxing day and the meal was terrible. We were a table of 6 and the only occupied table in the restaurant and now I know why. I opted for the beef and could have chewed it all night it was that tough. The soup was minestrone which was not in the least like minestrone. Considering this is a high end restaurant it was very disappointing and this is the second visit both very disappointing.

The hotel's restaurant is a room opposite the bar, we had the large table in the bay window - nice view. We were a party of 10, the service was good, our food arrived timely and all at once, drinks were excellent especially the wine. Music was fantastic, eventually found out it was the waiters play list - outstanding, not your usual restaurant music. The menu was varied with good choices, we had a mix of cod, chicken and an excellent beer dish. All dishes were accompanied with veg and a tasty sauce. We only had two deserts, the rest of us where all full. Only bit to mention is we were the only guests that night, which was a tad unfortunate given the nice location.

Booked through 5pm deal. Arrived and seated promptly by very attentive staff. Nice cosy dining room and not too loud or busy. Was booked on the Set menu but excellent choices.. Plumped for Seared Stornoway black pudding, Spanish cured chorizo, poached egg and wilted spinach and my friend had the roast carrot and caramelized garlic soup with rosemary oil . Both delicious. We both ordered the Pan roasted supreme of chicken, creamed cabbage with fondant potatoes and wild mushrooms. Was beautifully presented and really good portions and really tasty.... All in all..great service, lovely dining room and delicious well presented food. Great value for money. Definetely be back..

I have dined at the Carnbooth many times, myself, two sisters, niece and my mum had lunch there on Mothers Day and it was OK. My lunch was perfectly fine, I chose well from the menu and quite enjoyed the food, one of the party ordered the beef which was very rare and tough, it was returned and she chose another dish, unfortunately it took 15 mins to arrive, which meant everyone at the table had finished when her meal arrived. There were problems with the coffee, we ordered a cafetiere of coffee, the first one arrived with coffee granules floating in it, this was returned, the second pot was very weak, when I said to the waitress she advised they were having problems with the coffee, we said we couldn't drink it she removed it but charged us for it. It was a wonderful sunny day and the outdoor tables and chairs were stacked high at the side of the hotel, such a shame as they have a large decked area leading from the restaurant it would have been lovely to sit outside in the sunshine, I heard another diner asking when they set up the outdoor furniture but the waitress didn't know, very strange. This is a lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings but I felt customer service isn't what it should be and some elements of the food just weren't what it should be. Room for improvement.

We hired the private dining room for my 60th birthday dinner. 16 of us attended and had a fantastic evening. On arrival, the room was well set out - it was set for 17, but only 16 of us attended in the end....the extra place was removed with no question and no problem with the numbers being reduced by one. Drinks were served in the characterful bar before dinner. Dinner was from Carnbooth's set dinner menu - which I believe changes every few weeks (I was e-mailed a copy of the dinner for the evening several days in advance for my info) - and offered 4-6 choices of starter, main course and dessert - with a plain steak option readily made available for the one "plain eater" in our party. All 16 of us thoroughly enjoyed our excellent quality meals and when added to the prompt, courteous and discreet service it meant a truly memorable 60th birthday celebration for me and my family. Thank you Carnbooth House!

My husband and I booked into Carnbooth House for Christmas Day, we were looking forward to attending although previous occasions and our wedding at the Carnbooth had been less than perfect. On arrival, we were taken to our table and asked if we would like drinks.Yes please, a bottle of White Zinfandel (as per the menu) and a pint ofTennents. Our server returned to tell us they had ran out of lager andZinfandel. Not a great start. My husband then ordered a bottle of Bud andI opted for a glass of Pinot Grigo (as per the menu). There appeared tobe some kind of issue with the measuring out of a large glass, to the point where I asked the young lady serving us to bring out the wine, the measure and a fresh glass and pour it in front of me. On bringing out the wine, it was not the wine that was on then menu and it transpired that this has also ran out. I find it incredible that on Christmas Day, the bar is not well stocked.Next the food, the bread rolls were delivered to the table but were completely inedible due to them being laced with carroll seeds. These are not to everyone's taste. I ordered the bruschetta and my husband ordered the king prawns. The prawns were delicious but my bruschetta was inedible, not only did the bread also have carroll seeds in it, it was rock hard to the point I couldn't get my knife through it. The goats cheese was also burnt to a crisps When the male server dressed as an elf, arrived to collect our plates, I did inform them that the starters were not satisfactory. For mains we both ordered turkey, the only thing I ate on the plate was the carrot. The turkey was as dry as a bone and appeared to have been sitting on the hot plate for some time. The 'roast potatoes' were so over cooked, they were more like crisps. Again, on the plates being collected we informed the male staff member. There was no apology. Our dessert was two cheese boards, after having the plates sat down to us with no knife or butter, we had to then locate a member of staff to get us a the above, after 20 minutes waiting for this, I gave up and ate only my grapes. Which were delicious. My husband and I made our way through to the bar and sat by the fire having a drink which was lovely. On asking for the bill, our food order was sitting at £60, although I had paid the full £120 beforehand. There was also a glass of prosecco that had been added, which we did not have. After informing the barman, he went out to the reception to inform the duty manager (I assume she was the manager) I could quite clearly hear her demanding to know why we thought we didn't have to pay any money for our food. She stormed over to us at the fire and aggressively informed us that yes we did still have £60 left to pay. Her manner was utterly appalling. I again informed her that no, we did not have any balance to pay and that I had email confirmation and a receipt which had been signed to say the balance had been settled. She informed me that she didn't have any notice of this and so I had to log into my emails and forward the email on. Once this was received, we were presented with a new bill, which had the prosecco still on it. Informing the duty manager that this was still on the bill, she rudely informed the barman that 'SHE is claiming not to have had prosecco'. It should not have been an issue, I had been drinking Pinot Grigo all evening. The service throughout the meal was truly shocking, a young boy on his first shift, a different server for each round of drinks or meal brought out and not one of them appeared to have had any proper training or experience.I am truly shocked that a hotel of this calibre would have such low standards, particularly on Christmas Day. My husband and I both work in the hospitality industry and have never experienced such disorganisation, poor food and dreadful staff. What was supposed to be a great day for my husband and I was completely ruined, not to mention the fact that we are £120 out of pocket for food which we did not eat. I have contacted Carnbooth by email and phone, requesting that someone contact me regarding this complaint and of course, no one has. The place is complete shambles and we will not be setting foot in here again.

My sister had given me a voucher as a Christmas gift so my husband and I used this for lunch. Normal lunch menu is 3 courses for £19.95. I opted for spring onion risotto and he had the soup - both were delicious. Main courses of roast beef and chicken were exceptional and the triple cooked chips were probably best I've had. Great experience in a lovely setting overlooking countryside. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had a Christmas lunch here. The length of time between taking the orders and delivery of each course was way longer than it should have been, and the dirty plates were left on the table for much longer than they should have been. Suffice to say 3 courses and coffee took almost 4 hours. It was so slow the table behind us cheered when their desserts appeared! The staff were very pleasant and I suspect were covering 2 aspects of the hotel at once. One of the menu options was steak and chips which turned out to be rump steak. Stew??? For a steak option? I think not!! Worth a visit - but not if you are in a hurry!!

My friend took me to Carnbooth for afternoon tea on Sunday as a treat. It is a lovely old building set in its own grounds just as you leave East Kilbride. Beautiful surroundings. We were greeted on arrival and taken to the dining room which was nicely set with tablecloths and comfortable chairs. Lovely bay windows overlooking the countryside. The staff were all very pleasant. The service was okay. The afternoon tea was the usual 3 tier plate with sandwiches, small cakes and a scone. The food was average - I have recently been to two other establishments for afternoon tea and they left Carnbooth miles behind where quality of food was concerned. The tea/coffee was fine and the glass of prosecco was cold and very nice.It was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday and it was nice. Just would have expected a bit more quality. Would I return for afternoon tea - probably not.

Firstly, this is the only time I have ever left a review on Trip Advisor, but unfortunately I really feel the need to do this. 4 of us were out for dinner, celebrating 2 wedding anniversaries. Apart from 1 other table of 2, the restaurant was empty. Service was slow at the beginning and unfortunately the starters were not worth the wait. The bread rolls were so cold, it was as if they had recently been defrosted. My starter of Scotch Egg was like rubber. The whole egg was solid. My brother had pork belly and the sauce had dried around his plate as though it had been sitting for a while. Unfortunately, the mains were no better. We ordered 2 beef dishes (to be cooked rare and med/rare). The beef was so overcooked, the onion rings were stone cold and the potatoes were luke warm at best. I returned mine, and on a positive note, received a fresh meal - which was completely perfect! My sister in law had Chicken Kiev, which was bone dry and did not have any garlic butter in it???.. My husband had the cod, which he enjoyed. One of the 2 deserts ordered was nice, but the chocolate brownie was dry like saw dust...... The waiter was very nice and extremely apologetic (on behalf of the chef). He did adjust our bill and offered a round of drinks on the house.I felt quite sorry for him as, the only other table for 2 in the restaurant, were also complaining and returning their dishes. Having 2 young children, it isn't always easy to get out for peaceful meals so we were really looking forward to the Carnbooth - but it turned into a very disappointing night :(

I ordered the scotch egg with haggis and beetroot never had this before and was not disappointed excellent flavours and cooked extremely well. Most of the party ordered the cod and it was served beautifully and everyone agreed it was excellent. I ordered the rump steak again presentation was excellent and the taste was sublime side dishes of home made chips and dauphinoise potatoes finished off these excellent main dishes. The deserts of strawberries and rose water meringues finished off this family meal beautifully. The staff in this establishment are to be congratulated on there service, manners and attention to detail especially Marina who was our main server today. Was so looking forward to this as the hotel looks amazing. What a massive disappointment. Fawlty Tower's is alive and well in 2016. After waiting 20 minutes we had to ask the waiter if we could order. Not a good sign. We ordered a main course & dessert each. Our main courses took 45 minutes to arrive and arrived cold. My partners steak was cold sauce bland & onion rings burnt. They wanted extra £2 for chips. Nice enough chips but about a dozen if lucky. My lasagne veggie stack was also cold served with cold rubbery tasteless pieces of cauliflower. It was disgusting. The duty manager did offer to heat our dishes up but I don't like sending food back to a kitchen so declined this offer. For the first time ever we decided to skip dessert we couldn't face any more.We left not even a sorry or any kind of effort to explain the long wait or the awful cold excuse for food. I did suspect that the wedding that was on was causing the problem but the duty manager said this was not the case and they had separate chefs. This makes it worse as they don't have any excuses for such a horrible experience. This was an Itison offer and it's by far the worst place I've ever eaten. Normally Itison offers but this was a disaster. I wouldn't even give the one mark I've given it was just so awful. Never again!!! .

My wife and I visited the Carnbooth for a late Sunday lunch, paying 19 pounds for two courses per couple through an Itison deal. Great value given the quality of the food.I has Cullen Skink (excellent ) and a Pollock main which tasted great but the fillet was very small. The rest of the party had pork belly mains which were more substantial and equally well cooked and presented. We ordered and paid extra for desserts which were also good.A few minor niggles:- a very long wait for desserts and my wife's was served with without a key ingredient - no tablet or shortbread served with coffee- very limited wine list. That said we really enjoyed the food and had a great afternoon - and we are very likely to return.

Went for dinner this evening, granted it was an itison deal. The menu was the same as the full priced one. I had Cullen skink which was very nice, but my husband had Meatballs to start. This appeared as 3 meatballs on the plate with a small amount of sauce. Ok never mind we looked forward to the main course. ? This was Pork Belly for both of us, mine, I have to say was 75% meat and 25% fat as expected. My husband's on the other hand was the exact opposite. It came sitting on mash and Black Pudding, the mash was nice but the pudding seemed as tho it had been pre cooked and left lying for a while consequently it was quite dry and hard. Now I am quite worried as I have booked this hotel for my husbands 60th birthday. We have several large hungry men coming and I am worried they will leave hungry and disappointed. I only hope that the hotel reads the recent reviews and takes notice. What we had was good value for what we paid but not for full price. Poor hubby came home and and made himself a sandwich.

Used a voucher deal to dine recently, starter was topped with a poached egg which was hard, expected a chef to get a poached egg soft as it should have been. Mains were OK, never stayed for desert. Waiting staff are trying to be formal and often missing this all together. One girl on working the tables alone, not busy, however this caused slight delays. Small things that should have been done at the table were not, overall rather poor.I expected the venue to be much nicer than it was, obviously not related to the food, merely an observation. As a voucher deal, value for money was good, however the experience and food was not up to scratch. Won't be revisiting with so many better options in close proximity.

Lovely grounds at the end of a sweeping drive greet you and you feel you could be miles from anywhere as it is very secluded and private. A lovely country house, the wood paneling inside adds to the ambience and a log fire roaring in the bar was a lovely touch.we were asked into the dinning room which was a private room for our party of 25 ,with a large square table beautifully dressed in crisp white linen and voile bows on the chairs.the food was very good.the Cullen skink was easily the best I've had yet and the modern twist on trifle(ginger,Greek yoghurt, berries and toasted meringue) was gorgeous.the portions were good and I really enjoyed the whole evening.mingling in the bar and reception after dinner for photos and chat,I heard nothing but good reviews from all present.if your after something civilised and different you'd be hard pushed to beat this for food and atmosphere...

I actually didn't stay to experience the food but if the service is anything to go by I wouldn't bother. Was seated for lunch but then after 10min we still hadn't received the menus, when they arrived it took another 10 mins to ask if we would like a drink. 20 mins and we hadn't even ordered our food or received a drink. Poor poor service Walked out in disgust there is many more establishments out there were we would be treated better and our money appreciated

Had a lovely 2 course meal here with champagne on an Itison deal with a friend.Starter was Stornoway black pudding with poached egg for us both - difficult decision as one of my favourites was also an option - Cullen skink! My main was rump of beef with potato skin chips and French style onion rings - mmmmm.........delicious and tasty. My friend had the salmon dish and we both cleared our plates. Need I say more?Delightful, peaceful, and tranquil dining room with a very attentive and pleasant waiter.Pleasant environment - will be back!

Hard to believe this place is just 10 minutes from the Southside of Glasgow. Tucked away on the outskirts of Carmunock this grand old arts and crafts house makes you feel as if you are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We went for lunch and prosecco and could not fault the food or the value. We did have a slight mix up over an order but it was graciously dealt with and allowed us to enjoy some chat with the staff. Service is welcoming, warm and friendly. The food was good quality, well presented and cooked and exceptionally good value. I look forward to going back and would love to sip after dinner drinks by the fire next time.

This place used to be out 'go to' for family birthdays, celebrations, brunches and lunches with friends. It was beyond fantastic.Sadly, the place is now so awful that we will not be returning. Overpriced, badly cooked food.Change in staff resulting in the service no longer being of an acceptable standard.

We went for Sunday lunch. The food is impressive, well presented and well cooked but the length of time we were there was awful! We arrived at 2 pm and didn't finish till after 5.30. As we had two youngsters with us, it was rather stressful, rather than relaxing! They need to organise their staff better and allocate them specific tables and rooms.

Really!!!!!!Carpet torn and dated but the cleanliness was good. Was not worth the hours drive from home........At the end NO staff to be seen, we could have lifted anything........ Not being shown out was disappointing.......... Won't return sorry!

I have passed by the Carnbooth a few times since it opened & thought it looked lovely so when an Itison deal came up I booked it right away. We were sat in a dining room that wasn't quite the decor I was expecting, quite dated with strange pictures on the walls & the room was small for the size of the building. It was a lovely sunny day but we weren't offered the choice to sit outside for our lunch which we would have done. After we had finished the food which was ok, we headed outside to a balcony overlooking the countryside which was lovely but it was a beautiful day therefore if it was raining you couldn't do that & that for me was the best part of my day unfortunately.

My husband and I recently booked the private drawing room at the Carnbooth, (Sunday 2nd Aug 2015). It was the occasion of my mother-in-laws 80th Birthday so just a small party of 10 guests. From planning and organising the menu down to presenting our birthay cake and making all the guests feel pampered, we were very impressed by the service we received. The attention to detail was evident and the floor manager, John, was extremely helpful whilst ensuring the privacy of the gathering. I thought the food was of a high standard with a good variety of options on the menu. All in all, a lovely day that was made even more special by the interaction of the staff. I would definitely recommend the Carnbooth and loved that extra-special touch from having the drawing room all to ourselves. I'm already planning a pre-Christmas meal so that we can do it all again.

This hotel is in a lovely setting, decor appropriate for character of the building. Food nice and well presented however feedback from other diners was that soup could be hotter. Service friendly but there was an exceptionally long wait for starters . Appeared that preference was being given to those having afternoon tea. Attention to detail should be made regarding laying tables and cutlery. Needed to ask for cutlery and also salt / pepper. When brought, pepper empty, no surprise really as missing the bottom. Overall a relaxed meal. Nice to have a leisurely lunch but things could be improved.

First time eating at this restaurant and whilst the food (when it arrived) was of a very high standard and beautifully presented, this was let down by the length of time it took for the food to arrive. We chose from a two course menu - I opted for a starter and main course and my partner opted for a main course and dessert. Despite there being only four other people in the restaurant, my starter took 35 minutes to arrive with a further 30 minute wait for our main courses. Our intention was to re-book this restaurant to take friends along, but we decided this may not be a good idea due to the incredibly slow service - which is a shame.

Myself and 8 family members aged between 6 and 80 attended for lunch midweek. The food was lovely and the staff were polite and friendly however the service was so so slow and we started to get fed up. We experienced a one hour wait between each course. No explanation was given for the delay. While the waiting staff were nice, they constantly forgot things and we had to keep asking for appropriate cutlery which we didn't expect in a hotel of this star rating.Food was lovely and was presented nicely.

Went recently for lunch with family members we hadn't booked but that wasn't an issue staff quickly cleared a table and reset for us very quickly, unfortunately that was the last thing that happened quickly! The dining room has about 8 tables of different shapes and sizes to accommodate different party sizes, the room itself is nicely decorated as all the public areas. The lunch menu is priced at £19.95 for two courses or £24.95 for three, menu is well laid out with something for everyone but as title suggested food could so much better, from the length of time it took for each course to arrive, the lack of communication from servers all in all it took over 2 hours for 4 people to have lunch on a quiet Tuesday afternoon?! In my opinion the dining room is more set up for their afternoon teas (I believe there is an offer at the moment as a few customers were asked for these). We were not the only table who thought food arriving was slow another table complained about timings, they received an apology we didn't perhaps we should have complained too ?!The food was okay but nothing special, soup arrived cold for one of our party, chicken dish was tough, all small easily resolved issues, however for us don't think we'd return

Infact my uncle, who was visiting from London says it's the best meal he's ever had in Glasgow.Highly recommend!

This hotel is in a really lovely setting. I got a voucher for afternoon tea via itison. Plenty fresh sandwiches to choose from and lovely cakes too. Our tea pot was topped up on several occasions. Staff couldn't have been friendlier and offered to wrap up cakes that were left for us to take home. Only gripe was we got home to realise this was a prosecco afternoon tea and we never got the wine.

We are here for the first time last night and were absolutely blown away! The food was excellent, surroundings beautiful and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. The restaurant was extremely quiet in fact we were the only diners so we had the place all to ourselves. Both of us had the black pudding starter which came with a perfectly poached egg on top, wilted spinach and a delicious chive butter sauce. For mains my husband had the battered pollock with thrice cooked chips which he said was delicious and I had the steak pie with kale and garlic mash which was delicious and quite unusual as had a tartlet base. For dessert I went for the sticky toffee pudding whilst my husband had the chocolate brownie, a delicious end to the meal. Everything was presented beautifully and the courses were timed well. At £16.95 for three courses it was an absolute steal so get yourself along before the secret gets out!

This was my daughter Amy's 25th Birthday dinner, this was our first visit to this venue, it was chosen because their website and dinner menu online looked spectacular. When we arrived we decided to go to the Cocktail Lounge for a cocktail before dinner only to be told they didn't have a Cocktail Menu but if we could think about what we would like in a cocktail then they would try to make them,( why have a cocktail lounge if they don't have the staff with knowledge to make them) As it was my son-in-law used to work in a bar and helped out with advice to the bar waiter. The dinner menu was run of the mill (lasagne is lasagne where ever you go) and very limited and nothing like what it advertises on the website. The wine menu was very limited too and Amy just couldn't find a white wine that she could like, eventually we settled for a fruity red. Though the food it self was very tasty it certainly wasn't anything to rave about when costing £26.95 per head for 3 courses. We had cheese for the third course but again disappointed that there were only two cheeses to choose from and when ask for a glass of port to go with the cheese, we were met with " sorry but we don't have Any port at all in the bar", despite this Amy said she did enjoy her birthday treat but I felt very disappointed for her, I was really looking forward to enjoying a very Special evening. All I can add is " Could do Better !!! "

I've eaten in the Carnbiith several times since it opened. My most recent visit was for a family celebration . The house was beautifully finished with fresh flowers and welcoming coal fires. The food was fab and faultless , clean plates all round. The staff were very attentive and offered us a tour of the bedrooms which my mum and I took up. The rooms looked sumptuous , all different ,tastefully decorated with individual themes / style

Praise indeed for the new chef (Jay) who has restored the quality of the food served. This was our first visit in a very long time because the quality of the food had deteriorated. A friend told us there was a new chef and the food was lovely. We (4 of us) tried it last night and was delighted with the meal. We are certainly looking forward to our next visit. On the down side I think the Bar is letting the restaurant down. Think the wine list should be updated and make sure the wines are available. Also, the red wine felt as if it had been chilled.

Party of 4 ate here on 5th December in an empty restaurant. We are baffled as to why this hotel was not packed full with guests. Hotel itself is a beautiful building with many interesting features. John who greeted us at the door was charming and attentive as was our waiter. The food was out of this world. We all had turkey which was served with handcut chips rather than the traditional roast potatoes with lovely accompaniements. Each course was a delight and the chef even popped his head round the door to ask if our food was ok. Only downside was that one of our bottles of red wine was a bit cold.....it was still polished off though. All in all a delightful evening and reasonably priced too. If you live in the area please please visit this place as it seems such a shame that it was virtually empty.

We were met at the door of the Carnbooth House Hotel by John who took our coats and showed us through to the Cocktail lounge where he had just stoked the log fire! We felt that we had arrived at a friends house. We ordered drinks and perused the menu in front of the log fire before being shown through to our seats. The restaurant was fairly quiet this Friday evening. My chicken meal was well presented and tasted delicious as did my husband's beef dish (sneaked a wee bit of that too!) Sharing a dessert (selection of cheese and biscuits) wasn't a problem either. Our night was completed with cups of coffee and tablet which we enjoyed in the lounge by the fire. The evening was very relaxing and unrushed. The staff were attentive and nothing seemed like too much trouble. I would say the food wasn't any more expensive than similar places nearby. We will definitely be returning to enjoy the hospitality in the future.

We had my Dad s 80 th birthday party in the Carnbooth House on Saturday and I couldnt praise it enough. The hotel is beautifully furnished with classy decor to suit the setting. The lounge area has a very cosy ambiance with an open fire.We had the dining room , a private room for 20 which again is beautifully decorated. Our meal was delicious and excellent value at £20 per person for 3 courses plus tea/coffee and tablet. There is also a full choice of wines , beers etc.The best thing of all though is John and his team of staff who could nt be more welcoming and pleasant.I cant wait to go back.

We've enjoyed many many visits to the Carnbooth House Hotel, but this new management has a LOT to learn about customer satisfaction.£10 for a pint of 'Coke' is not acceptable while sitting with friends in front of a nice log fire.Disgusting prices going by what we experienced - shocking and shameful.Won't be going back there again - Check your bill.

We visited here recently on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was very quiet (only us and another table) but the food we had was delicious and the male member of staff who was attending to us was very professional and friendly. The interior of the house itself is also lovely. It is worth noting however that the "lighter bites" menu listed on their website is no longer available so you will only get the A'la Carte menu.

Had a disastrous anniversary lunch with my husband in January - he won't be back! Two friends and I have visited on several occasions since Carnbooth opened, not terribly impressed but the location suits us all. However, Monday 19th May will be our last visit, From start to finish it was memorable for pretty well everything. The service was appalling and slow. Considering we were the only ones in the dining room, there was no excuse. I had to go and get the pepper mill for myself. Our bottle of wine was left in the lounge and we had to ask for it be brought through This was the light bite menu - two courses and a bottle of house white for three came to £75. I asked for some chips to go with my cheese omelette (still looking for a taste of the Mull Cheddar) and received an artistic stack of six. £3.75! I could go on. There are two restaurants within a mile of Carnbooth and at lunch-time they are always full. Why isn't Carnbooth? Simple.

Stumbled up on this after a long day as we parked our car right next to it. Big band - I can't believe the experience and Talent. A far too well kept secret The audience is quite mature but please do not let it stop you I can't comment on food as we just wanted to pop in to listen to a song. We were already late for a booked dinner. 20 min later we were still there, spell bound, I am sorry to say that we were the rudest customers EVER and do not even have drink. I assure you will make up for this. We will be back for a meal and with time, friends and energy. This is awesome. Do check it out. Even if you are not into big band and it's a dying art what you see there. Watch people deliver gold! I have no idea why this place was not full. The owner, staff and musicians deserve your presence, this has been so rewarding.

Great find - best coffee I've had in Glasgow - they really know what they are doing here with the coffee. I've tried many rated coffee shops and this surpasses all by quite a way. The offered pastries were also very good. A must visit in Glasgow - you will not be disappointed..
