We were craving for a good pub meal and ended up having a great one! Not only was the food very well cooked and tasty, but the staff were fab too.

Lovely place with great food, will be sorry to see it closing.

Staff are always really friendly & helpful. My husband has Alzheimer’s & my Mum is 93 & they help them with their food choices & are very patient. The food was really good & everyone enjoyed their meal.

Drinks sat at bar for 5 min had to constantly ask bar staff about drinks and food to slow food for money we paid for 4 adults and 4 kids for that level of service was shocking as people no it ain't the cheapest

Just enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Red 🦌 with family and our dogs. Food was excellent, atmosphere was great. Feeling very stuffed this afternoon.

The food is so good, freshly and homey cooked meals, the service is good as well and the design of the restaurant is elegant yet relax. It has good seating capacity inside and spacious seating arrangements outside

Charming and traditional pub with great service

The Red Deer is a Hotel/Restaurant/Pub well worth a visit. The atmosphere is that of a country pub, carpet and parquet flooing, cosy, with a roaring open hearth fire (only during the winter). The food was very good with a varied selection of meals. For starters we tried, Salt and Pepper Calamari, Deep Fried Breaded Brie, Soup of the day. For mains we tried, Hunters Chicken with chips, Macaroni, Aubergine with salad, Meat Pie with a red wine sauce and seared vegetables. Overall a bit pricey but dogs are allowed inside, so that's great. The staff were very helpful and professional. We hope to return in the future.

Food tasted good. A vegan alternative was prepared for me, just as it says on the menu. There was also oat milk with the iced coffee. There is beer on tap, including bottles. Furnishings are quaint and cozy. Service was friendly. We spent 60 euros on 2 meals, 3 beers and an iced coffee, which is not a small amount.

Delicious food, previously had a takeaway but wanted to try dine-in, didn't disappoint. Definitely recommend.

On our last visit the three staff all took turns serving and checking on us. They are very attentive (cassie, Michael and Kate Lynne). It’s our local “quick grab” and occasion meal destination and don’t see that changing any time soon. It’s great value for money, the foods fantastic, the staff are lovely, in the winter it’s got an actual fireplace that makes it feel really homely. Plus they welcome well behaved dogs!

I was at the Red Deer earlier today as I had some car trouble. Due to a ridiculous set of events my coolant filler cap ended up down a drain and out of reach. Long story short I enquired in the Red Deer if they could offer any help. Rachel was the staff member whom I met. She really went above and beyond, she was able to find a litter picker hook to help me out of my nightmare situation. So helpful and friendly. A real credit to the business.

Staff and food were excellent, when you were eventually served. We waited over 60 mins for two meals, staff were nice about it offering a free drink and a discount on the bull, but it's a long time to wait, especially as the place had no more than a dozen or so folk in

We wanted a relaxing dinner after a walk around the city, the Red Deer (Vintage Inns) didn't disappoint. There was a good range on the menu, the food was really tasty (gammon steak and fish and chips, both cooked well) and the atmosphere was cosy and relaxed, had quiet background music (not like in some places where you can't hear the person next to you!). Staff were attentive and friendly. We'd absolutely visit again.

Went through the week so it was quiet as expected. Always a good place to get a coffee and a catch up with friends. Food is good too.

Ordered the spicy cauliflower soup for starters. Was a warm watery carrot and coriander colour and taste!!. Checked with waitress...confirmed it was what I had ordered! Very odd taste and colour. Hubby ordered deep fried brie with a mango sauce.it came and the cheese still hard inside, outside very brown..no sauce. He was offered a sweet chilli sauce instead Wanted a plain carvery for main.. Menu stated all veg had herbs etc on. Waitress was accommodating when I asked for plain veg. I didnt want the turkey but she advised I woud get extra beef. Can't say I noticed . Hubby's portion was bigger than mine. At £19 each for the carvery then soup and brie nearly £7 each it was very expensive given the quality of the food. 4 cars in the carpark on a Sunday lunchtime..... Speaks volumes!!. Won't be returning...

If it had not been for meeting my good friends, I would have complained, but they like the place. The service wad poor, the staff were overstretched and were trying their best, but too many customers for 2 waitresses to cope. The restaurant had run out of 2 of the main courses and some other things. Poor.

The food was good and the staff were very friendly, the place has a nice atmosphere. The only downside is that the drinks menu (unsure if this also applies to the food menu) differs from what is shown on the Vintage Inns app, so we ended up just not bothering with the app as some things were missing.

Good table set aside for us and the dogs.Orders was taken quickly and served piping hot.

Kind staff, great atmosphere, dog friendly, good portions for the price, tasty food. My only qualm is that i ordered the slow cooked and pork belly roast, the skin wasn't crispy so in reality it was two small sheets of meat sandwiched between 2" layers of fat.

Great place, most lovely and welcoming staff. I’ve felt home, as someone on a business trip from Saudi Arabia, in Scotland for the first time. They have great lamb, a must try, as well as rib eye steak, as well fish and chips. I was staying next door and this was my home away from home.

Food was excellent. Had the pate to start, good size and there was enough bread for the pate!!! Which is unusual 😂. Had the fish and chips for main, the fish was super fresh and the batter was amazing, very different to usual but I liked it. Service was a little slow if I'm being critical, but it was 5pm on a Monday evening and it was dead, issue is staff are behind the bar and can't see where we were seated so maybe felt a little forgotten.

Good was alright, but wait times on the day we went were so disastrously slow I ended up with £100 ticket from the car park. It took 2 hours before our first dish arrived.

We visited the Red Deer on our way to the Kelpies & Falkirk Wheel. As we were travelling in a vw camper the pub allowed us to stop for the evening. We booked a table for food and we were not disappointed. I chose the fishcakes and my hubby chose the pie of the day. Our superb waitress Annie was very attentive making sure we had everything we needed and even brought a bowl of water for our dog. I would highly recommend a stopover or even just a nice meal out. The food was hot tasty and very reasonably priced 2 x main meals which were very filling and a bottle of red wine for less than £50. We will return thanks guys x

My boyfriend, my dad and I went for lunch on Sat 24th as it was my dad's 85th birthday. It was my first time here, despite growing up in Cumbernauld! On arriving, we were able to choose our table (Dad can be quite picky!), which we did in a quiet corner of the restaurant. Service was very prompt, and our drinks were served perfectly. On ordering, I opted for brie bites, which were delicious. My boyfriend ordered the soup - can't remember what it was! - which changes daily. My dad abstained. Our starters were lovely. Dad and BF opted for slow-cooked pork with crackling and black pudding mash, while I opted for the fishcakes. The slow-cooked pork was rated a success, but not as good as the fishcakes in my opinion! I've eaten fishcakes all over the world - no joke! - and these were the fluffiest, tastiest fishcakes I've ever tasted in thirty years of going out to eat as an adult. Couldn't fault them. My only grumble would be the chips were too chunky for my liking but were delicious regardless. We swerved pudding as we were stuffed, but I guarantee we'll be back for the food, great service and ambience.

It was a great place, great atmosphere and very friendly staff. On this occasion the food was good but could have been a little better. Nothing wrong at all, very tasty, but I suspect not the freshest of cook. Service was a little slow but could have been down to a shift change. I'd certainly go back if I was in the area.
