Booked a table for 6 o’clock on a Saturday, booking was confirmed everything seemed okay. On Saturday noticed it said they were closed on Saturday so phoned up and were told they were closed.. we had not been informed and our special occasion was ruined as couldn’t get booked in anywhere else on such short notice. Very disappointed.

Came recently for a Sunday roast as per advertisement on Facebook page, however when we arrived there was no roast on offer. There was a good choice on the menu however. Having seen pictures of the macaroni on the Facebook page, I decided to order that. What came from the kitchen was not the same as the Facebook photos, no where near. I ate it, but did not enjoy it. My friend had lasagna which was dripping in grease on arrival. We sent it back but it came back more or less the same. I’d say it was heated up. We were the only people in the restaurant so would have expected a higher standard. Some items were removed from the bill thankfully however still left disappointed and hungry.

Brilliant hotel near the coast of Nairn. Very friendly staff on arrival and departure, about a twenty minute walk to the train station if you’re heading to Inverness at any point. Rooms were clean and well kept, the shower pressure was quite low, however. The room was extremely hot when we walked in but was solved quickly just by opening the windows and closing the curtains for a moment. We didn’t go down to bar as we were only stopping for a few hours overnight, but it was a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend for anyone looking to stay in Nairn.

Booked deluxe family room for 3 adults loch view. Only 2 mugs provided and 2 teabags. Would have been loch view if windows had been clean. Broken toilet seat - filthy fan and heater in bathroom. All in all would not have stayed but everywhere was fully booked. Breakfast poor. Overcooked and cold. A visit to remember for all the wrong reasons

Afternoon tea on the (underfloor heated!) outdoor terrace, partially enclosed. Bread like pillows; fillings were interesting and genuinely fresh - I believed the salmon was smoked, not just flavoured; delightful, interestingly quirky and downright delicious darling cakes (and trust me here when I say I’m the world’s top expert); gorgeous scones with all the jam and cream you can eat; refreshing peppermint tea and excellent, quick service (although we had booked in advance which may have helped here). Altogether a fantastic experience and can’t wait to repeat it - tomorrow!

Not to be commended. This Hotel has photos which do not match some of the rooms on offer. We were allocated a room in rear Annex which was mouldy, damp and the windows not closing fully. Charged full price.. So basic the handbasin was in the cramped bedroom. Small filthy bathroom, dirty room and indifferent response from management. Basic Breakfast..Its a dump with poor management. Avoid this place..its a death trap with many corridors, stairs and landings.

Called in here for lunch whilst visiting Fort William We both had the muscles and chips and a none alcoholic drink. For the price it was alright, not over priced like some of the places and pubs can be. Staff were polite and very efficient even serving lunch at our table. £20 for two main meals and three soft drinks is not to much to pay I don’t think considering the price of some of the other establishments for a lot less.

Typical outcome when a lovely family run hotel is bought out by people who are clueless. Stayed here in as a solo traveller in 2017 for one night having just completed the West Highland Way. Staff were really helpful and everything else was as you would expect from a decent hotel. I caught the train the following day back to sunny Yorkshire. Now comes my big mistake, I was so impressed with the hotel that I convinced my wife and daughter that we should book a week the following summer.I could not believe the decline in the place, Ignorant staff and a shambles of a place. Fawlty Towers but sadly without the humour, Final straw was being lied to, We came down for dinner one evening only to be told the kitchen was closed because the ovens had to be serviced??? really high season and hotel full. Found out the following day the truth from an honest member of staff. The chef was sick anf the sous chef just walked out!! Stay clear of this place.Caveat Emptor

There was absolutely NOTHING TO LIKE about this hotel - the way it was run, the furnishings, the attitude, lack of training and insufficient language skill from reception, bar and waiting staff (except for 2 people who knew what they were doing at breakfast and cared about their guests), badly cooked food and shocking wine. The terrible standard of everything else in this dreadful hotel which should have been so, so much better for the exorbitant price. On arrival we were ignored for 10 minutes at reception with no apology, dinner and drinks were overpriced and very mediocre, breakfast's fried egg was served virtually raw, the waiting staff (with 2 exceptions) were untrained, didn't seem to care and were unable to say anything but "No problem" to any request or comment. Our double bed had a SINGLE sheet, the room was shabby and grubby and the hotel was depressing and not clean.

The only thing to recommend about this hotel is that the room was large and the bed comfortable. The room furnishings were old; there were none of the expected toiletries such as body lotion. Unfortunately whilst travelling the NC500 route we experienced some pretty poor hotels and this was the worst of the bunch. As soon as we puled up in the car park I knew we were in trouble because even from the outside the hotel looked less then perfect. I would have cancelled and gone elsewhere but due to the Mountain Bike World Cup taking place in Fort William, (yeah I never heard of it either!) all the hotels were full. In reception we could barely understand the receptionist who seemed East European. Finally arriving at our room having travelled through dark and dismal corridors of brown chipped paintwork and sticky carpets we went into our room of dark brown chipped furniture and a TV that could only be switched off at the wall. The room was like a cave with minimal lighting mismatched towels in the bathroom and our view through the one window was of a large diameter rusty pipe. We went in the bar had one drink and then decided to go into town for a meal having experienced the surly, again East European staff for whom everything seemed an effort. We learned from the locals that this used to be a good hotel but is now under new management. Avoid like the plague!

We have always used the west end hotel for our meal when in Fort William, but this time we were disgusted by the attitude of the staff. We have always been there for about 5.30/5.45 for our meal, when we arrived there was a notice on the door saying the resturant and bar did not open untill 6pm, we asked the receptionist if we could sit in the bar and wait a d she said yes, while we sat in the bar two bar staff arrived and started to put money in the till , then and old couple came in at approx 5.57 and asked if they could have a drink the older of the two bar staff snarled at him and said NO the bar does not open u till 6.pm. My wife the went up to the bar at 6pm and asked for a menu, and was told they had no e and to go and ask the receptionist. We were very angry and went and asked to see the manager, and what a suprise he was not available. So we left and vowed nevereat there again, in fact we went to the Ben Nevis pub and had a great meal.

Had stayed here before on at least three occasions, had always found it warm, friendly and comfortable. With that in mind, was confident booking again. HOWEVER, it is under different ownership, the rather grandly, if misleading name of MGM Mutha group being the owners. Stayed one night only, beginning of June. On arrival in the mid afternoon, had to wait for some considerable time for staff to respond to reception bell. In reception, can't help but notice a sizable portrait of MGM Mutha founder, Chevalier Dr Mutha resplendent in expensive designer sunglasses, and placed around it, many copies of his book, no doubt extolling his successes. I would have to say the way of running West End Hotel would not feature in a chapter regarding success. The reception area didn't feel overly warm but not freezing, but on opening the door to the sizable bar area (bar was closed) to see if staff were in there after waiting some considerable time at reception , it was akin to opening a fridge door, completely cold feeling, no residual heat even remaining from whenever bar was last open (and heated). Allocated twin room per booking, en route noticed paintwork etc in corridors v tired looking. Room 17 very cold but as I was heading out for afternoon, assumed that perhaps heating was on a timer and would be warmed later. However, not the case, on arrival back, room as cold as earlier and radiator thermostatic valve did not work. As an aside, I generally don't feel cold, but wakened at least 4 times through the night feeling cold. Bed linen (sheets, pilliwcases) was definitely clean and laundered, but only only one thin blanket in addition to the sheets. The shaped decorative bedding top cover that one would normally discard while sleeping as you're never certain they're changed every service had to be used to try get warm. The tea tray showed signs of only a quick clean, one teaspoon missed cleaning altogether and torn-off part of sugar sachet evident on tray from previous guest. Peeling paintwork in the tired shower room/WC and mismatched towels indicate that less attention to detail, running maintenance is achieved under current ownership. So in perspective, while not in anyway a completely disastrous or dangerous stay, it was not great, not comfortable and certainly not what I'd experienced there before and I would not book here again in the near future. Especially given the plethora of accommodation available in the area with comparable, if not in some cases, cheaper, room only rates.

The girl who booked us in was surly and did not seem interested. We got our key and went to find our room and when we opened the door, we were very disappointed. The room we had for the week was 3 metres square, had a wash hand basin in the corner and was very depressing. We checked the en suite and this was the minimum width to fit a shower tray. When we went to bed the windows were single glazed and the outside noise could be heard and the sound proofing of the rooms did not do its' job.

The room was basic, small TV with freeview, bathroom was really small and the shower took its time getting hot plus to make matters worse the bath tub was small so not much room to move about in . The food was very basic and not much of it, my partner wasn’t impressed with a sarcastic waiter they had working throughout the weekend, but after the food we felt the need to go to Tesco or Morrisons soon after for more food and drink. It cost us under £70 for a weekend. All in all it satisfied us for what we were their for so I would advise a few days there no more ☺️

Wow, that menu is very extensive ! I sat down for dinner once and also had lunch once. For dinner I had the Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. Good choice although the neeps could have been mashed better.I liked the lunchtime special they have. For 5,75 you can choose a sandwhich ( 4 or 5 different ones ) and get a bowl of soup. It was ok. Interesting that you get grated cheese on your cheese sandwhich instead of a slice. Service was quick and waiting staff was friendly. One thing that should have been addressed better was the fact that a gentleman was using his phone during dinner and he was speaking so loud that almost everyone in the diningroom was annoyed with this. One server looked at the man once and shook her head and turned around and left.

We were on a 4 day tour and stayed the night just down the street from hotel. Location is right near downtown. The restaurant inside hotel is very warm and inviting. Lots of charm and character. There was about 10 of us and was seated in back room all to ourselves. Food was surprisingly great after numerous other meals elsewhere. We did not sleep here but would recommend eating here if you are in the area.

Straightforward value for money. Huge choice of food. Ordered fillet steak and was not asked how I wanted it cooking (unfortunately forgot to say myself). Disaster as it was very well done and I like it medium rare - shame as it was ruined. Very dated decor like something out of the seventies but didn't bother us as it was clean. Apart from the steak, the food was good and mushroom starter fab.

Booked breakfast and it was worth it. Eggs can be boiled, fried, scrambled or poached with the full breakfast. We were offered toast, white or brown bread. Fruit juices, fruit , and cereals are also available all freshly made.

The food was average, I had nachos on which the cheese had not quite fully been melted. They tasted nice, and came with guacamole, salsa and sour cream. Only suggestion would be to serve the sauce in ramekins or small dishes instead of tiny plastic pots. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. I would come back.

Four of us turned up on chance for Sunday lunch on the Sunday before the start of the Scottish Six Days Trial, a very busy day in Fort William. No problem, tables were quickly put together and we were ready to eat. The food was plentiful, fresh and well cooked. The service was excellent and we had a great Scottish welcome. We ate again later in the week and it was just as good.

This is our favourite place to have a few drinks at the end of a busy day in the Highlands. It's bar is warm and cosy and has stunning views over Loch Linnhe. They also serve bar meals which we did not try but looked good.

We were taken here by some friends who live nearby for a bar meal. They accommodated 9 of us with minimum fuss at tables with a view of the Loch. There was a wide range of food in both regular and small portions. Everyone enjoyed their meals - quite a feat when the age range was 12 - 84! It was so relaxed and friendly we (7 of us) returned the following evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful and tweaked the meals to suit the fussy ones. Would definitely recommend for families, bar food and a friendly Highland welcome!

We stopped off at the West End Hotel for an overnight stay during a train journey.Check in was quick, courteous and easy.We had a great view over the loch from our triple room (number 37).The room was well-equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and had two chairs and a stool so that we could all sit down without having to sit on a bed!Everything that was meant to be in the room was there and it all worked, though the lid did fall off the small bin in the bathroom the first time we used it.The hotel is towards the south-western end of the town, about 15 minutes' easy walk from the railway station and within easy walk of the main shopping street. We had the 'full English breakfast' which was absolutely fine. (Note that it is not a buffet breakfast but the portions were of a good size.)While the hotel doesn't have any visual impact and even looks a little old-fashioned in some respects, it does the job perfectly well and (at £79 for three of us on a bed and breakfast basis) it's good value.

I stayed here for 8 nights in November. the staff make this hotel...all lovely and nothing too much trouble!! on arrival the hotel is easy to find on the main road into fort William, with the town centre easily walkable. 100ydsthe food is pretty good with a specials board daily. the hotel itself is very tired and in need of face lift. the bed rooms are ok for size in fact my Room 33 was too full of furniture which made it overcrowded. the beds well, nylon bedspreads with sheets and blankets, i thought these went out with the arc. the mattress is probably from the same era. very uncomfortable with springs in the back made for a limited nights sleep.. hence our second 8 day stay this week we will be staying elsewhere,on the whole the staff made the stay enjoyable.but would probably like to try other accommodation first.

The restaurant is overpriced massively. We ordered mussels for main (£20). No chips, no bread these were £5 extra each for tiny portions. The bread was three tiny slices of sourdough with oil and butter…. that you don’t need to mop up the mussel juice. People on the next table ordered sole. It came with no veg, no chips…. They had to get that whilst the fish was getting cold. Be warned, check the menu carefully everything is an extra, resulting in a huge bill.

Don’t come here unless you are a hotel guest! We went to the empty restaurant for dinner at 17:45 only to be told that it’s only open for guests. There wasn’t anybody around.

Beautiful food and wonderful staff, so attentive and polite. The owner, Mustafa, is especially generous, friendly, and welcoming. The mezze platter and seafood is what we always get and it has always impressed us!

The place was fully booked, but the team promissed to call if a vacancy would come up - and they did! It turned out to be a great evening: The food was delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned; and the service was excellent. The only „problem“ was that there were so many tasty and interesting options on the menu it was tough to decide - Ordering another starter instead of desert helped a lot :) Rocpool can be highly recommended; looking forward to return next time.

Don't normally do this as I read far too many negative reviews and, tbh, wonder why some folk bother. I would stay and eat here again in a heartbeat. Excellent food, the scrambled eggs is probably the best I've ever had (& I've had plenty), but the overall experience of staying at eating at LT is beyond words.
