La Garrigue always delivers wonderful food and drink in a relaxed, friendly setting. Plus if you book lunch, or a summertime dinner you’ll be treated to their amazing views of Calton Hill.

Just really good, authentic, regionally-based French cooking, and a terrific wine list. The dishes are characteristic of the Garrigue in southwestern France, and are beautifully executed. Plus the front-of-house guy is charming and funny! We were introduced to La Garrigue by friends, and now come here every time we are in Edinburgh.

Fabulous food (as ever) and a lovely, warm wrlcome from all the staff. If you're lucky enough to get the Roquefort souffle, order it. It's like eating a cheese cloud! The lavender creme brulee is my all time favourite - I'd actually have it for all 3 courses if I was allowed. This place is a perfect little bit of France tucked away in the middle of Edinburgh. I can't say enough good things: the best local ingredients, gorgeous (yet simple) dishes, the smoothest wine pairings and, on top of all that, the loveliest staff. The restaurant is cosy in Winter, airy in Summer and nestles in a perfect place for exploring Edinburgh before or after your sumptuous food. Well worth a visit! A bientôt!

We have been going here for a few years. This is an authentic French provincial style restaurant with a laid back welcoming vibe. My partner loves the cassoulet, but I try to choose something different every time and am seldom disappointed. Most recently I have enjoyed the Guinea fowl on the lunch menu and the perfectly cooked hake from the main menu.

"Magnificent! Superb!" Maybe it's because I've mostly visited touristy places, or maybe it's because being abroad, La Guerrigue has to make an extra effort to stand out, who knows! But even in France I haven't had as good an experience as at La Guerrigue. Not only is the food delicious, but the family atmosphere and friendly service make you feel right at home. Been here because of my friend recommendation. Booked before i arrived Edinburgh. Nice location near the train station. Very welcoming vibes, nice friendly service. Staff are good and attentive. Atmosphere is quite decent. Wine selection is good so does the food list. We started with wine and ordered starters. Within time food was on table, each and every thing was so delicious. as soon as starter finished main course was on table. Just tasty with all the flavours and at the last dessert simple and nice. The best food i have ever in Edinburgh so far.

Overall the food was good but it was a mixed bag in terms of portion sizes. I couldn't quite tell if the restaurant was aiming to be more of a bistro style place or something a bit more formal. The duck cassoulet was the perfect portion size but the rabbit let main was on the smaller size. They did both taste good though and you could taste the ingredients they used!

Wow, OK, exceptional meal all-round. We were very rushed (thanks to a packed Fringe schedule!). We said to the staff on arrival that we didn't have much time. They were very nice about it, and put our order in straight away. Given our tight window of time, we weren't necessarily expecting a 10/10 meal - we would have been happy with almost anything. This restaurant is near the Waverley train station - it’s closeby but not so close to charge exorbitantly. And the June lunch set is great value for money!! We had the different variety for each course, and my favorite is the cheese olive cake with poached egg. The running egg added a nice layer of richness and texture to the dish. The fish brandade in tomato was abit fishy to me otherwise an interesting dish. I had the braised beef in stock, which reminded me of home cooked French cooking. The apricot cakey tart wasn’t too sweet and the sabayon-like sauce complemented it well.

Hi there, I just wanted to share my experience in La Garrigue in Edinburgh, on Friday 12th April 2024 as I had one of the worst nights of my life! I was there for dinner with 3 girlfriends. I had the cheese soufflé au Roquefort as starter and for my main I had the cod, mussels and risotto without the spicy sausage as I don't eat meat. The maitre offered me to have the risotto with some sauce from the mussels instead and I agreed. I had one glass of champagne. Everything seems fine although, I tasted that there was something on the mussels-sauce a bit different. I was totally fine then went to bed and I woke up by 3:15 am, felling very dizzy and I was violently sick! for what I remember I passed out twice at least and hit my face against the toilet, having a bruise above the eye and on my cheek. The reaction-sickness was very strong and intense that I fainted very quick, I was shivering, heavy breathing and with cramps. It was So awful😞absolutely terrible! The doctor thinks I got food poisoned from the mussels as she said, that with just one that wasn't right it would have caused me this as they are highly toxic. Could just been back luck but oh my God what a horrible experience!

Mature couple up toon for day . Real French restaurant. Typical table, chairs , decor etc. Have been for years so popped in for mid week lunch. Really fab food as you would get in France... not dumbed down for the UK. Lunch time menu is excellent value for money. As a starter OH had stilton and leek trart and me the mussels. The starters were real fab. For mains OH had the fish dish - Coley - was a really nice chunk of fish. I had the chicken which I really liked. Check out the photos. And 10 out of 10 forva nice cold beer. The waiting staff are excellent and attenative, And it was nice to meet the owner as well. Edinburgh can be a fickle place to get a good lunch . The La Garrique didnt dissapoint and was all as a remembered it from my last visit. All in it was £59.25 for 2 mains, beers x2 , glass of wine, 1x bread and a coffee. Donn't be put off that I only left 4 stars .. very very really do I give 5 stars . The La Garrigue is well worth a visit. I will def be back, soon !

My companion had another selection and I'm sorry I don't remember what it was, but he loved it. We both had the lamb for our main, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sauce was a perfect complement. WORLD CLASS Made a booking for 2 people on a Saturday. It wasn't too busy so you could try and walk in. It got quite busy at like 8-9. Top notch service throughout our meal. We started off with a lobster bisque. There were these very delectable kale chips on top which were nicely crisped and salted. The bisque itself was lovely. It was very creamy and had the most delightful seafood taste running throughout with the occasional morsel of lobster. Then for the mains I got the Halibut which was awesome! Everything worked so well together on the plate. There were the purees which are always great to add a little more to each other element. You could taste how quality the Halibut was with each bite. My favourite though was the potatoes on the side. It was like a next level mashed potatoes and was really creamy, garlicy, and flavourful. I tried a litte of the patridge. Loved what was done with the mushrooms and potatoes on that dish. We ended with the lavender creme brulee which was amazing. It had the necessarily crispy top and was just the right amount of sweet. Loved my meal here and will definitely be back as I imagine every dish on the menu is a winner

Unfussy, refined, super place for lunch in central Edinburgh. Fully deserves its excellent reputation.

Rather noisy and cramped and too hot inside. There were a lot of perfumes in the air which gave me a sore throat and headache. The food was okay but there wasn't anything I liked on the menu and, as an autistic person, I tend to stick to what I like. I wouldn't choose to eat here as it's not my sort of thing. Everyone else in our group loved their meals.

A beautiful meal. Very relaxing. Excellent service and very friendly. Surprised by miniscule portions of bread at £1.95 per head and a little expensive but compensated by the quality of food and general ambience. I would definitely eat here again.

I used to frequent Cafe Truva at the shore a number of years ago and was looking forward to visiting their Lady Lawson street branch on a visit to town. What a disappointment! The ‘panini spice’ that I used to love was a delicious mix of spiced chicken, mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes served with a lovely Turkish-salad meze. Unfortunately there must be profit margins to protect here and the quality of product has been compromised beyond all recognition...bland strips of processed chicken, one piece of sun dried tomato all cooked without seemingly much care. The side salad used to be a real treat served with feta cheese, stuffed vine leaves, tzatziki and cous cous, instead you are now served some chopped lettuce, tomato and cucumber with no dressing.....distressing stuff. I hope they are reading and take these comments into consideration, will not return in a hurry which is a crying shame.

We enjoy eating at Shackleton’s. If you are staying at Channings it is a very easy place to grab a bite to eat. Everyone is nice and we enjoy the food.

Not what it was. No football shown. It used to be great to watch pre and post going to the footie. Food poor and overpriced compared to old. Staff are still brilliant really friendly and helpful. The new owners need to have a massive rethink. They have lost our pre match business most weeks
