Been a few times now and had a great experience each time, food is lovely and the staff are great! Becoming one of my favourite spots

Still the best value Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. With good, tasty food.

My family and I were there during our trip to Edinburgh. The food was very good and the service was excellent. They have menu options of the day, which are more than enough to eat very well. If you are in the area and need or want to eat good and cheap Italian, it is a good place.

You can eat it, but you don't have to. The staff was very unfriendly and visibly annoyed. Without asking, the waiter simply sprinkled Parmesan on the food while I was already eating. I was also able to observe how the waiter, after clearing the plates, ate the remains of the plate with his fingers and continued serving without washing his hands. At the end there was a circle around the note that no tip was taken into account in the bill. When I didn't give one, people complained afterwards.

A gentleman rather the owner was rude and strange.

Excellent lunch here yesterday with 16 retired colleagues. We are always looking for good value and good food for our BT pensioners group. Bar Napoli meets both these requirements. And they also have a special wine of the month deal. £14.95 a bottle. A great lunch menu, wide selction of food. Highly recommend it.

It was a fine experience but we wouldn’t go back. Much too loud and we didn’t live the food. It was alright, not our favourite. Our server misunderstood us and we had to ask for our menus back, which was mostly due to the noise level. After the few tables around us left, it got quieter but not by much. It has plenty of food options on the menu, lots of pasta, and our calamari fritti was pretty good.

The food is regular but the service and the atmosphere were awful. The waiters were very disrespectful and constantly rushed you to finish eating or choose what you eat. On the other hand, the room where we ate was a great chaos, just screams from all sides and the bathrooms were very dirty. I wouldn't go back

So disappointing. We booked for 8.45pm and walked in a couple of minutes before. Were met by staff member who didn't appear warm or welcoming, nor did they ask if we had a booking. Motioned 2? At us before taking us downstairs to a brightly lit noisy room with children screeching and running around, dirty tables and the atmosphere of a hellish canteen. We were silently left at a completely bare table with 2 menus and then entirely ignored. My partner went to the toilet, I'd said to him that if anyone came to take a drinks order I'd ask if there was room upstairs but he came back and altho the room was now empty except myself and 2 other tables I'd not had contact with anyone. We left. What a shame. I loved it here but I was glad not to have given them our custom as I have no faith anyone cared about our experience. I know there was rugby on in the city but there were tables upstairs that perhaps could have offered an acceptable dining experience for 2 people who had gone to the trouble to bother to book.

Lovely restaurant with a very authentic Italian feel, what a gem in Edinburgh! Food was 10/10 and great service from Riad, would definitely visit again. Thank you Riad!

I had the best pizza i’ve had in here it was delicious cook by chef Angilo. Also great staff like Riad. Also the tiramisu was fantastic ❤️

Never, ever disappoints. Food great, atmosphere great, service exceptional. A wonderful go to Trattoria for us on every visit to Edinburgh. Riad and the team look after us very well.

Super positive experience when I came here. Food is really good - the fried mushrooms were fresh and delicious - portion was a good size and the garlic mayo/aioli (can't remember which) was amazing. Cannelloni was really tasty, and the pasta was delicious. House wine was a good price and paired well with the pasta. Service was great and attentive - they even gave us both a shot of limoncello on the house - not sure if they always do this but it was a very nice touch. Decor was a bit outdated and not the fanciest but the food and service more than makes up.

Stumbled upon this restaurant, it was pure luck. It is 10/10 authentic homemade Italian food. Great value, we had the best meal. Everything tasted so fresh. Recommend the minestrone soup and cannelloni. Everything looked good.

Remove the word Napoli from the restaurant... you are not worthy of having that name for that kind of food you present. Ruining the value of pizza, food. Shame on the country

Superb meal! Hearty and tasty dishes!

Popped to see if we could get a table on 14th Feb. Although they were busy it was no problem. So pleased we popped in. Food was excellent, hot and quickly served. Waiters were all nice, friendly and efficient. Good portions and great value for money.

This was a great spot, it was lively, food was great and the service quick and efficient. Our waiter Riad was always willing to support all of our ask's. There was 16 of us so busy for them. They were extremely accommodating and we had a great time...

Came here for my friends 18th birthday. Chef, waiters and bar staff were so lovely! I would 100% recommend coming here, it's my new favourite restaurant!! Definitely coming back, thank you Bar Napoli!!!!!

Very poor quality, it doesn't look like it at all nor do the ingredients say what it is. At night only drunks.

Absolutely delicious. I visited here twice while vacationing solo (January 2025). Both times I ordered the three course lunch menu. Amazing value but omg the best fresh made pasta.. fantastic food.

Guys … comon .. I know drunk people come to this place but you can’t just pop in frozen pizzas into the boxes. So disappointing, so horribly bad. Please do better. Customers aren’t idiots even if intoxicated.

I waited over an hour for it to arrive and I gave up as was too tired and went to bed. I went onto the app to cancel the order but it wasn’t easy to cancel it if at all possible.

when every other establishment closes on a frigid Tuesday in January, Bar Napoli will be there for you with delicious hot fresh italian cuisine to fill your belly before bed. 10/10.

Delivery driver was exceptionally rude. Buzzed out flat each time not saying a word when we answered. Buzzed twice before calling I said please try again, my daughter answered this and forget to buzz him in, I asked him to buzz our flat again and apologised for the last attempt. He then went on to rant that if someone buzzed you and you're expecting a delivery you should just let them in. No I should not do that, for security and safety issues we don't just buzz everyone in.

Been coming here since 1982, atmosphere no longer that of a busy family restaurant with noise and bustle, but that if a tired tourist feeding station. Food ok. Wine was almost off. You can do better - you were better

I ordered from here and they spent 35 minutes trying to find a driver, 40mins after order they get a "driver" driver eventually arrived on a push bike, walked slowly up the street stood outside looking at his phone for 5mins, took further time standing in the stair before even saying hi sorry, he finally gets the food out and it's all squished, freezing cold. so £30 order of food was over an hour late, cold and I got £4 back, electricity to heat it all back up alone cost more, waste of money

Had to wait for almost 10mins for a seat and 20-30min for the food. But other than that food is delicious.

Server who didn't seem to want to be there. Bland dishes, very expensive for what it is. The quality is not there, the same goes for the service. I absolutely do not recommend. To flee

As someone who lived in Italy 10 years, I’m extremely disappointed When I saw “Napoli Pizzeria” I was at least expecting a somewhat decent pizza. We ordered a Diavola, which it supposed to be spicy… even the Quattro formaggi was more spicy, the base of the pizza felt like frozen pizza, honestly so so disappointing, at least the service was okay.

Could be an absolute gem of a place but was low to average. Food was good enough, was it the best Italian food I’ve eaten absolutely not, but it was ok. Garlic bread was rubbish tho so I’d avoid that, was just buttered toast with a hint of garlic. Service was really a let down tho, no greeting, we had thee grumpiest waiter, not a single smile from any staff member except from one girl, ordered fries, none came, not once did we get asked how everything was, asked if we wanted tea or coffee or dessert or even refilled our glass. Also £3.50 for a glass of milk!!!! What??? Considering this is Edinburgh with Italian restaurants a plenty - I’d try somewhere else!

Ordered a takeaway comprising two pasta dishes and a pizza, which were delivered very quickly and were enjoyable.

Not the place to go if you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine. However, if you're just looking to fill you're belly, their portion sizes are generous. The staff are constantly darting back and forth and fail to notice that you're ready to order/pay but this is understandable given that it does get busy during dinner.

The best pasta I ever had hands down!

Best lasagne I've ever had in a long time. Also we ordered tagliatele with salmon, it was such a delicacy

The food was excellent and arrived quickly. However, the staff did not attend to us much. We had to wait a long time for our empty plates to be cleared and for the bill to be brought to us.

the food is good, but maybe things need to be packaged differently? pizza came with all the toppings having slid off and it was all bunched up in a corner, and the pastas had leaked all over the place.

My favourite Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. Been going for years. Was down for a visit from up North to see family. Food, service 1st class as always.

Tried to book 3 weeks ago and was told Couldn’t do was to show up, showed up today and was turned away due to no booking, been numerous times before what a joke

Food was late and parts missing. Missed a pizza off and a garlic bread. Asked to send and was told they’re too busy and weren’t willing to help.

Food lovely. Service was good. But like any restaurant in Edinburgh we felt rushed. Disappointed really as it would be nice to relax on a weekend away.

Have been recommended to come here many times over the years. Glad that i finally bit the bullet and came. The aesthetic of the place, with the red checkered table clothes and arched ceilings, is beautiful. First thing that hits you when you walk in is the amazing smell of fresh Italian food cooking. Onto the food itself. No complaints at all. The pepperoni Pizza was great. Maybe not the best in Edinburgh but definitely up there. Only issue I had was that the waiter seemed quite annoyed when we changed one of the orders (approx 30 seconds after making it) . Maybe this can be put down to having came at 9 on a Saturday night when it's likely been packed all day. So I can understand. But it shouldn't be made obvious to a customer if you are annoyed. Overall i would highly recommend giving this place a try.

Tastes bad. Really greasy and staff are rude

When by chance for reasons of weather and hunger you find the "usual" Italian restaurant abroad and you think, I'm going or I'm not going, and upon entering one of the staff behind the pizza counter you hear him exclaim:... Pellegrini.... (I think it's the owner), it's better to keep quiet, sometimes you can run into a fellow countryman without realizing how bad you look! Restaurant with the appearance of a tavern (I wish it were a tavern), nothing special! I would invite the owner to take refresher courses because we stopped in the 80s! A margherita pizza without the slightest part of tomato, just the mozzarella block that they clearly use abroad, and without the slightest part of basil which is ugly to look at, and then also cut into wedges before being served, 'something I hate' , the cannelloni au gratin served in an iron bowl dating back to the Punic wars, but I say but the owner doesn't realize how worn out this sort of bowl was now worn out, discolored, so old as his beautiful castle nearby, here is that "for a pinch of salt the soup is lost", the cannelloni are almost not visible, they are invaded by the mozzarella that dominates the whole dish, instead of cannelloni it seems to me like a lasagna messed up as much as possible , with a meat filling whose flavor I couldn't define, obviously a place to stop if you're HUNGRY ONLY! I'm sorry but you only have the name of Naples, it's a shame because people get used to the routine without having the slightest knowledge of what our beautiful cuisine is, that cuisine which hasn't been updated for years and remains behind, just as it doesn't a small step is taken to fix the many crooked paintings that sadly occupy the walls of the room, all details that honestly should be reviewed. (for pity's sake, throw away those bowls where you serve the cannelloni), they give you shivers..!

Popped in for a delicious 3 course lunch for the amazing price of £12.50 excellent value and taste.

We ordered pasta and risotto, both were very good. Generous portions, pleasant atmosphere, very busy but we got a table without reserving, very fast and friendly service.

Wouldn’t let me in they said they were closed when it was 2:50 even thought it closed at 3:00 do not come here pizzas aren’t raw sloppy and horrible staff

Pizza was cold. To be fair weather was awful and guy was on bike. Not much pepperoni.

What ended up as a last resort due to every other kitchen closing at half 9... Led us to a spectacular experience of Italian cuisine but even more so great hospitality by waiter. Despite being foreigners to Edinburgh, our waiter at Bar Napoli made us feel precisely at home. A truly cultured man with great expertise in his field, by the name of Riad. I highly recommend this place. Let's not forget the Hot Choclate on the house for the Chefs kiss!

Stop by here every time I'm in the country. Great atmosphere and delicious food. Stopped by on a Friday evening, had a server who was only on his 2nd shift and he still did great.

8 king prawns served with spaghetti, slightly salty but overall very yummy. Mushroom risotto is less salty and fragrant. Portion is generous and price is very reasonable.

Authentic Italian food in Edinburgh a go to place for me .

Had a great time here with our Australian friends and family. 9 of us were seated on a busy afternoon without a reservation and this was much appreciated. Food delicious and staff were brilliant with our Aussies. Will be back! 😁

Very Italian atmosphere, good Italian food but not fully Italian. The ragù is ok, but not with the spaghetti. The pizza is definitely one of the best eaten in Edinburgh. Discrete bruschetta.

Convenient that it's open very late and has alot of food options, so good choice when you're hungry and most places are closed. However, the food was really salty in general. Food was quick to arrive but if you're in a rush to leave maybe not the best as it takes a while to get your check

Cozy, tucked away, and just what I needed at midnight after a long day of travel. Service is quick and efficient, food is ready in minutes. If you choose to stay or to takeaway, they keep it easy. The pizzas are all one size, and are probably best described as “person” pizzas, although if you added sides it could be split by two less than starving people. Didn’t try their pasta, but will be back to do so!

Really great food and atmosphere, with helpful staff, even got a complimentary shot and additional desert for my birthday celebrations, definitely recommend, Riyad was very nice and helpful, bonding over Mohamad Belloumi, as he is friends with him and I'm a Hull City fan myself being from there, great night!

Never arrived atall for second time! I watched on the map the driver was right outside and pressed delivered and never delivered it. Again !! Resturant takes my money & driver takes my food ? And pretends it’s delivered ? Untrustworthy drivers.

Had a very bad experience the other night here. I wanted a takeaway and was given a menu and was asked to order immediately. The menu doesn't really have much variety and I ordered a simple margaritta pizza and some pasta. It was awful! The pasta was all greasy and oily, tasted terrible! The pizza was all burnt as well. Would not recommend at all.

Absolutely shocking customer service from manager / phone receptionist- absolutely shocking food came stone cold as if they have your food premade and micro it and send it to you - I ordered it took just way driver 30 mins - shocking service

I was sooooo happy with my meal!!! This place is legit. Open kitchen. Chefs are busy but they make the small kitchen work. It’s impressive to watch. Great work guys. Seriously. Wait staff also very attentive. Food was so amazing!!!! I’d def be back next time I visit the city. So good!!

We had a lasagne, a 🦐 spaghetti and garlic bread yesterday. Both taste beautiful! We will definitely go again next time in Edinburgh.

The pizzas were cold and very thin missing the middles very disappointing the risotto was cold too

Food was pretty good, however pizza was mediocre at best. Said it came with porchini, but they put basic mushrooms on it. Server was rude when I mentioned this. We ordered four items on the menu for 3 people, and the server scoffed at us and rolled his eyes for not ordering more food. We barely could finish the four plates of food and were very glad we didn't order more food. Wouldn't eat here again.

Lovely little restaurant with nice decor and great atmosphere. The staff was welcoming but a bit of an overkill having 3 different waiters asking if everything was ok with our starters and main. Ideal for a quick bite to eat, as it's quick service. The food tasted nice.

£12.50 lunch deal. Would put zero stars if I could. Very greasy pizza; deep fried, like something out of a late-night takeaway. Tiny portion of tiramisu at the end; four teaspoons. Tasteless. Dry. Genuinely terrible. Would not recommend.

Delivery time was long. And food was stone cold when I received it. All I got from the delivery guy was I am sorry it’s late & cold

The food is good and the staff are very respectful and cheerful and their behavior is nice, especially the Algerian Toto Madri Titi 😅 God bless him. The menu contains meals that contain alcohol, but tell them to make it without alcohol.
