Went there with friends to watch football food was brilliant and atmosphere great

Such a nice place! You can watch every game that's on, great atmosphere and great staff.

Great bar caters well for sports aficionados, great selection of lager/beer.

Difficult one. They serve Pilsner Urquell but I am unsure if it is dirty lines or a mismatch on the barrels as it was definitely not Pilsner Urquell. I am certain it was Budweiser Budvar. ~£20 for 3 pints, shame on price and the beer served. Doesn’t reflect on the staff or rest of the bar.

The best pub grub I have had in a while. Generous portions good quality products used, nice atmosphere with a great selection of spirits….. don’t usually like sports bars but I’d make an exception for this one !

Pleasant bar with many broadcasts at the same time: Rugby, NFL, Premier League, Scottish League and Bundesliga.

Pub food can’t be beaten! This pub offers a wide menu and drinks too. I had the Posh Cow burger which was authentic! The beef was really thick and well cooked through, the bacon add the flavour and the onions were good too. Bar staff was super attentive and kind as well as the chef who brought my food over ( ithink). Good atmosphere with great music on the background. Only small downside was that i had to eat it with cutlery because as soon as i picked up the burger all the fillings went everywhere. Overall I had a really good experience here.

Daytime visit to watch the golf/football and we weren't disappointed. Several screens showing different sporting events and a good sized pub. Efficient bar service

Burgers were best we’ve had in a while. We had the Phat Cow (I removed the Jalapeños before eating but liked just the extra kick they gave during cooking) and also had the Bull burger. Both great. Cooked well, not burnt. Ingredients seemed fresh and very flavourful without being greasy. Seriously well-done. Fries were perfect. Service was generous. Large TV and other smaller ones around for watching sports.

I drank a Guinness in this place while I was arranging some photos to publish, surrounded by the chatter of the locals present, who were with me at the counter. Overall, enjoyable!

Very cool and chic bar. We went there twice and also watched football. The atmosphere was great and you could see something from every seat thanks to the many screens. The food was consistently delicious and was prepared within a few minutes. At the bar the drinks are poured quickly and generously. We had a lot of fun, absolutely recommended!

Great spot for drinks and a bite. Tried haggis balls for the first time. Tasted A little like falafels to me. Also had the fish and rice soup which was perfect for a light snack. Service was great. Very friendly. Giant screen and plenty of other tvs.

Best bar in Edinburgh for sporting events. Very accommodating staff - even staying open late for us to watch Zhang v Wilder. Manager of shift, Mark, was very sound.

Amazing place. Great food, drinks, atmosphere and very kind staff. They played ice hockey championship for us, so we could support our team during vacation :-) If you want to watch something particular, just ask. They also offer board and card games to play.

We arrived shortly before the kitchen closed, but absolutely delicious food was prepared for us. The burger and mac&cheese were really very good. There was a football game going on and the mood was good.

Great first meal after getting into Edinburgh. Whole family enjoyed their meals included my two girls (4 and 6). Classic pub food, fish and chips and phat pig burger were great. Excellent fries/chips

Haven’t been in a while. Dropped by while Celtics were playing the Rangers and the pub was lively. Despite the crowd the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. Food was delicious as well (fish and chips plus salad). Just a wonderful all around experience.

Visiting from the United States and found this place. The food ad drinks were amazing. They were really nice and had great service. I would go back.

Perfect for watching football. They can turn on almost any game if you wish. German Bundesliga individual games without problems.

Absolutely a great burger, well seasoned, well cooked. Slightly charred. All in all a very good product!

Footlights was an amazing bar to watch the Six Nations and Calcutta Cup. Staff put on a performance worthy of those on the pitch with their long shifts and patience. The food was excellent pub grub and the atmosphere amazing. The warm welcome to both sides made for an excellent day out.

Amazing food and service! Mac n cheese and Steak and Ale pie both an A++. Amazing bartenders that were nice and welcoming to tourists.

Large sports theme bar , good pint of Guinness, plenty of tv’s to watch sports on, they do food but I’m just here for a beer, nice and warm inside too.

Doorman discriminates based on nationality. No issues until he heard our accent and then we were not permitted to enter. Do not recommend.

Group of 40 something Americans just looking to have a drink after dinner across from our hotel and were turned away due to security officer deciding we've had too much to drink. He couldn't even be bothered to speak to us regarding. Given we were completely sober, I find it quite interesting that we weren't welcome.

The burgers were really good, wasn’t expecting. We also head calamari and it was really good. Even though it was crowded we never waited more than 30 seconds for a pint. You could see the football game from wherever and with sound on. It was indeed one of the best live sports experience in Edinburgh.

Found this my accident was meeting a friend, parked in spittal Lane, needed somewhere near, the food was lovely and staff where very helpful, it was very quiet.

It's been a while since I last visited Footlights and I'm so glad that the hiatus is now over. What a great pub and run by a great team of people. Service was exceptional considering how busy it was, and our food was delicious. This is a fantastic sports bar, well worthy of all its accolades.

Me and my friend stopped here for a quick drink and bite to eat during the fringe. We both opted to have the burgers on offer. Was a difficult decision as there was a good selection. I opted to have a chicken burger and my friend a beef burgers. Both were perfectly prepared and delicious. Bar staff were friendly and helpful when taking our order and serving. I’d defo recommend here for something to eat and drink. Was a really nice atmosphere.

Great place to watch football and any sports, standard pub grub with large portion sizes. Allowed me to bring my young child too for the Sunday day time kick offs.

We were visiting Edinburgh and this was the first place we stopped for lunch after checking in at the hotel. Ian took care of us and was super friendly and helpful. During our week long stay, we enjoyed Footlights 3 more times and even had our final dinner there before leaving. The fish and chips is excellent as are the sandwiches and the Steak and Ale pie. Definitely check this place out!

If you are looking for a pub with a traditional Scottish atmosphere and good food to boot, this is the place for you! Excellent food, beer, service and hospitality. Ian, the manager is the one to look for. He provided very personal service, even remembering the drink I had on my previous visit! I recommend the fish and chips, the steak and ale pie, the burgers and definitely the sticky-toffee pudding! Right across from the Doubletree Hotel and down the road from Edinburgh castle, this one is worth multiple visits!

Nice pub with good food. The atmosphere was lively and the staff was helpful and professional.

Walked in this place randomly and never regretted the choice. I had Steak and ale pie, my daughter - Cheesy Bull burger, and my friend - haggis burger. Yammy! The staff is friendly and very helpful.

Stopped in for lunch. With it being Saturday, many tables were reserved to watch sporting events on their multitude of TV’s. At long as you would be finished before the reserved time stated on the card at the table, you could sit there. Grab a menu and order and pay at the bar. Nothing fancy, typical pub food. Our lunches were very good and came out promptly. Worth a stop.

The Posh Cow hamburger was great, it is really big, the chips were also great. The service is very good, and I was able to enjoy some live music.

Pleasant pub. Close to Edinburgh Castle, this pub has beer on tap, and in bottles in the fridge, as well as tonic water and pop. There is seating with tables, benches, and chairs. People working there were helpful.

I was in Edinburgh this week for two nights. I was here on both nights to watch the footie with my dinner. Staff on both nights were amazing and very helpful and the food was great!

Great Place, especially If you enjoy watching sports. It is one of those places that is neither too big nor too small and is cozy enough without being cramped. The food was good and service friendly. A good place to go to sit down and have a good time.

We stopped off for food and a few drinks during the day, and we were so glad that we did. The barman was great and the food fantastic. I'd highly recommend a visit.
