Love the Six by Nico theme ideas. They go all out to make it a proper dining experience. We did a murder mystery theme and the waiting staff gave us a clue with each dish by telling us a bit more of the story so hats off to them for memorising the script. The food was spot on as well; taste and presentation. We'll definitely be back. Can't wait to see what theme comes next...

Food was good. Service was on-again, off-again - sometimes quite smooth from one course to another, other times a long wait (we had a six-course meal.) We had to dispute the bill, which always takes the shine off the experience. Then, it looked as if the restaurant had charged me twice at the wrong amount and once at the correct amount when I checked my card via my phone. I queried that, to be told it would sll be OK. The next day, only the correct amount showed. There is also a large service charge automatically added to the bill (15.03% - no idea why the 0.03% is there!). You can ask for it to be deducted, but that's just another hassle. The bill is the last interaction customers have with the restaurant. Even if everything has been great to that point, do you really want the last thing customers to remember to be unpleasantness about money? Unwise.

Disappointed. We had great expectation for a nostalgic evening, and we got left with a very limp millennial affair of ‘this is not my problem’. The food was cold, bland and delayed and even a nostalgic sausage is not a cold one. The staff, were delightful, but their candied voice declaring ‘not enough staff’ was ever so apparent after 90 minutes and two courses, bearing in mind our table was supposed to be returned after 105 minutes and six courses later. I applauded the staff for their generosity, in less than ideal circumstance but I do hope that six by nico up their game and warm their food , with a fresher and more forthright service, before they fall foul of the Edinburgh curse and close within a few years.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant or anything like it. It was amazing. The food was outstanding. The cocktails and drinks were well made and are very moreish. The staff are more than willing to make any drink you want to suit. Stock depending. Our waiter discussed with me a variety of mocktails he could make me. hepled my friend to decide which cocktails he thought she'd like best after discussing. I have no complaints at all. Stall went above and beyond. It was also my birthday, and as this is asked beforehand as you book. We all got a free glass of fizz when we arrived. Very, very touching. But... it's all about the food. Each course is brought and explained to you and the table. Then you're left to enjoy it. The way they arrange the amazing art of the food on the plate is a wow factor. So different and every bite delicious. If you think it's small plates, after 6 plates and 5 cocktails, etc... you are most certainly filled up. We didn't feel rushed at all. We were there for nearly 3hrs.. the atmosphere, the service, the friendly staff and lovely decor and cosiness were fantastic. We struggled to leave and would highly recommend it. We did nothing but laugh frome the minute we got there until we left, and also didn't feel uncomfortable being a little loud in our laughter as you can in a lot of other places. The menu changes regularly, and I will be back to try them all.

Over the years it safe to say I have been to Six by Nico’s over 30 times, every time has been ranging from good to excellent and I have recommended to countless people to try it. Unfortunately, this was not the case on Saturday 11th January, so it pains me to leave a honest bad review. We got the Nostalgia menu, snacks, additional course, additional cocktail and wine pairing. Firstly the snacks, Space Roast Raider (crushed roast potatoes) with pickled Onion, the pickled Onion was not to been seen or tasted at all on the dish and overall disappointing. Accompanying the crushed roast potatoes and was a plate of bread and didn’t think it went well. Granted that could be my personal taste but the butter with beef dripping was really good. Now given the meal did not go well a waitress came up while paying the bill and asked for feedback, we mentioned the lack of pickled onion and she alluded to the fact that it could be different depending on the chef. Course 1, Blockbuster. Looked really cool, but was sloppy and not easy to eat other than in one mouthful. This again could be to my personal taste but it was very cheese heavy and I didn’t enjoy it. Course 2, I’m not a fan of mushrooms but this was good, the stand out part of the meal. Course 3, We were served raw sausage, which was acknowledged by the chef, as was offered free snacks. The belly pork that was right on the borderline of being cooked, really didn’t enjoy either elements that we served on different plates. I did mention the pork when asked but didn’t want to complain. Course 4, Fish Fingers with the additional element. Came on 3 plates, not easy to eat. First the fish finger was served in cup with sauce, I’m guessing so you can dip the fish finger in it. Unfortunately you couldn’t because the fish finger itself was mushy and fell apart, because not cooked properly. The second plate of fish course was inedible, well over seasoned, me and my partner had to leave it. The waitress did ask why it was left, mentioned to her, the chef tried and acknowledged that it was, we were offered free snacks. The additional prawns were over cooked but we ate them. Course 5, chicken cold and over seasoned, again really did not enjoy the flavour and the dish. Course 6, dessert, was fine but at this stage I was ready to leave The service wasn’t the great, the gap between meals was lengthy, with a gap between the wine and food was 15 minutes each course. The waiter and waitresses were apologetic but seemed to have heard it all before. There were other none food related issues but not worth mentioning them. Six by Nico sent an email asking for feedback, we gave them a summary and in return was offered a complimentary fizz and snacks on our next visit. Whilst a nice gesture this will not temp back through the door. I hope this was a blip or just a bad day for them, but on my experience I really cant imagine going back for a very long time or ever.

We ate here over the Christmas period, we had the wizard of Oz menu and firstly I would like to say that the food was OK. I have responded to their email asking for feedback which I feel has been ignored so I thought that I would leave a review on here. We were seated very close to the door in the middle of a storm, so it was very cold every time anyone opened the door. They could really use another door to separate the dining area from the entrance way. The first thing that the waiter told us was that the additional course wasn't available. Quite a disappointment considering it's a set menu, and we had been booked in for weeks in advance. The wine pairing didn't start on the first course, so we were required to purchase additional drinks on arrival, which was fine but you kind of expect the wine pairing to be paired with all of the courses. On top of this, the waiter accidentally poured a drink all over me. After this it felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant a bit. The bill turned up with a service charge on it, which felt a bit rich considering I was wearing a glass of wine and had to head out into the freezing cold. Very little (nothing) done by staff to make amends for covering me in wine. I understand accidents happen and I was not going to make a fuss but ultimately I left with a sour taste in my mouth.

Appalling Customer Service and Billing Issues We visited this restaurant on 29th December with friends and specifically requested the bill to be split equally between the two couples. Instead, the full amount was charged to my husband’s card, and an additional half of the bill was charged to our friends. Since then, we have contacted the restaurant multiple times by phone and email to resolve the issue and obtain a refund of over £200. Despite repeated false promises, no refund has been issued. The lack of accountability and disregard for basic customer service is disgraceful. We have been patient, but the failure to resolve this matter has left us no choice but to warn others. Avoid this place unless you want to risk billing errors and no resolution.

Although a decent concept, the execution brought it down. Having 8 to 10 courses of small plates needs a lot of preparation but we experienced plates arriving late, or lukewarm - probably sitting for a while. A table that arrived 15 minutes after us, actually ended up ahead of us in their courses. We ended up being there for over two and a half hours. Something was clearly not working between the kitchen and the wait staff. The wait staff were great, but it was obvious that they weren't trained enough on the menu, as they were mispronouncing a lot of the food and weren't explaining it at all. The menu itself could have a second look, as a lot of the courses were very similar to each other, a variation of a croquette. Overall, it seems like with a bit more planning and training, this concept could be great

My family and I have been coming here for years, and I’m really sad to note that the quality of both the food and service have declined markedly as the restaurant’s popularity has increased. This is difficult to swallow given that the prices have increased substantially - though it is still firmly on the cheaper end of tasting menus. We had the Amalfi Coast menu and were on the whole unimpressed. The menu over-relies on salty, cheesy foams which do not actually taste great, and feel like a bit of an attempted shortcut to make dishes look more elaborate than they actually are. Too many of the dishes were one dimensional, and lacked the flare that I’ve previously enjoyed at Six by Nico - four of them were white / creamy sauce forward. The fifth course (risotto) was so claggy and salty that only one member of our dining party could actually finish it. Difficult to write this review as I have been to many of Six by Nico’s tasting menus over the years and loved them. However, this was not up to scratch and I’ve definitely experienced a steady decline in quality over the years. In my opinion it’s no longer quite worth the money.

Really disappointed. Having been before and having a great time, this time around was the polar opposite. Sat near the door and every time it was opened and at one point this was for a good few minutes, you get the cold coming through the whole restaurant. The entrance area is small and cramped. Perhaps a curtain to break the cold air would be a better option? We waited a long time between courses and had to cancel the add on course we opted for as it was nearing 2 hours and we were only 4 down. Other tables came after us and were served quicker. They were running two menus consecutively which I found bizarre considering I thought the concept was 6 courses that change every 6 weeks originally? We were brought the wrong menus dessert. Team were apologetic and comped our drinks and bread but this place was considered a treat. I wouldn’t be recommending to anyone anymore unfortunately.

This is the fifth time I’ve been but apparently have forgotten to review every other time… Excellent food as always but massively let down by the service. Our table was booked for 1.5 hours but we took 3 hours through no fault of our own. We had to wait one hour between course one and two. It then took about ten minutes to pay the bill because they forgot to take into account our voucher. Super busy on a Friday night and everything but the service was great. Excellent value and nice wine pairings. I don’t know if they always give a lot of wine in the pairings or it was to make up for the long waits… either way, we ended up with a lot of wine.

A mixed review with overall disappointment. It saddens me to write this review as I have been a customer of Six by Nico since it's opening in Edinburgh and sampled at least 5 different previous menus. It's a fun concept with good value for money, hence returning so often. We were particularly looking forward to the Tokyo theme having visited Japan earlier this year. The food was really tasty and delivered a fun take on some classic Japanese dishes. Unfortunately, the poor service (from our assigned waitress) made rest of the experience a real let down. Our aperitif drinks didn't arrive, yet the table of four seated after us (served by the same waitress) received all their drinks before us. We were then served our second course (by someone else) before we had finished the first, and had to ask them and re-order our aperitifs. Our server had forgotten them and then resent our order to the bar; the cocktails eventually arrived later with the first wine pairing. Glasses used then often weren't cleared on time. We also asked our server twice for water refills during our meal and didn't get it - but noticed again the table next to us immediately got their water and drinks as soon as they asked. It wasn't until a different server arrived with our dessert course that we finally got some more water. We also had to ask for our final drinks to be brought with the dessert. The only time our server seemed to be doing things promptly was when they came to clear the fish course (while I was still eating) and when they presented the bill at the end of the evening. They seemed far more friendly and interested in attending to the other tables around us. I've never had this experience at Six by Nico and I really don't know why this was the case. Other customers seemed to have a much less rushed and more pleasant experience. We kept the service charge as the other staff we interacted with were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, I won't be returning soon as I think at this price point there are places where you will get good food, better service and a more enjoyable experience. I understand it was a really busy evening, but if the concept is to have a tasting menu with paired drinks, this should be the objective. Basic things like water refills and good customer service should be provided equally for all guests.

This was so disappointing, we have been to Six by Nico in Glasgow and this was such a bad experience compared to the Glasgow one. When we sat down we had to wait 15-20mins before anyone even spoke to us let alone offered us drinks. The 3 tables next to us who were seated after us had their first course before we even got our first drink. I’m not sure why our table seemed to have such a terrible wait time compared to everyone else. I can only assume our waiter was forgetting about us. The whole night we watched table after table get their food before us (which would be fine but these were tables that had been sat long after us). The worst part about all of this was that when we mentioned to our waiter that our food was taking a long time he didn’t even apologise or offer an explanation. The food was incredible when it eventually came, just it’s a shame when you decide to do something like this as a nice treat and end up having a bad time.

What a fantastic food experience! It was our second visit to Six by Nico in Edinburgh and our first time trying the Tokyo menu. Each course was beautifully presented and exploded with flavour. The mushroom and pork dishes where definitely the highlights of the menu absolutely exceptional cookery. It was Birthday celebrations so the glass of bubbles and wee card was a lovely personal touch really appreciated. Considering we couldn't get a table until 9.15pm and booked 3 weeks in advance the late dining didn't effect the food or service. Each dish was perfectly presented and explained by our waiter. Thanks again Six by Nico for another brilliant night!

We had the Tokyo menu which, whilst not quite anything authentically Japanese, was still an excellent and delicious selection of flavours that on occasion did remind me of the place itself. We were served by the charming and witty Gwen who was able to provide information on both the regular and vegetarian menu, and information about the wine pairings. For the price you pay, the experience is an absolute bargain, and I would recommend it to anybody visiting. Worst restaurant experience in half a decade in Edinburgh. Booked for a special occasion in advance. No-one to meet us upon our arrival at the restaurant. After 5 minutes of waiting and two waiters fully ignoring us, the hostess who was supposed to show us our table finally showed up, looked at me as I was looking for someone to help us and shoved me to the side. Then she just turned around saying a condescending "yes?" as if we weren't supposed to be here, forget about getting an apology. Reading other reviews this seems to be a repeated behaviour from that particular person, yet nothing seems to be done about it. Do yourself a favor, there are plenty of great restaurants just yards away on George Street for the same price or less with an actual service and experience. Most of all, stay away from Six by Nico.

Visited Six by Nico for their Tokyo menu and left quite puzzled. I’ve dined at the Hanover Street location in Edinburgh a few times and never left so disappointed. Six by Nico is known for its themed menus, and I expected to be transported to Tokyo through the food. As someone who appreciates the simplicity and craftsmanship of Japanese cuisine, I was excited to see what surprises this meal would bring. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. The meal began on a high note with Chicken Karaage—a well-prepared dish with a delicate flavor that didn’t overpower the meat, and a perfect crunch. However, the Tempura Enoki was served with mushroom pâté, mushroom purée, and mushroom ketchup—far too much mushroom for a cuisine that doesn’t lean heavily on them. The Kimchi Okonomiyaki was more of a tasteless mousse. If you’d told me it was a zucchini fritter, I’d have believed you. A real missed opportunity, especially with no katsuobushi topping. The ramen, literally meaning "noodles," had none. Instead, we got a sour soup that overpowered the fish, mushroom, and egg flavors. Tonkatsu was served with a laughably tiny square of cabbage. Oddly, there was also slow-cooked pork belly, which would’ve been better suited to the ramen, and a confusing "yakitori ham jam." The Strawberry Candy dessert was visually stunning, but the matcha moss didn’t taste of matcha—the fresh strawberries were the best part. Overall, the experience felt like a wasted opportunity. The quality ingredients and solid cooking didn’t take me anywhere near Japan. This menu could have been named after any city in the world, and no one would notice. To make things worse, we waited nearly 30 minutes to pay as our server was too busy chatting with other tables. The toilets were filthy, with one urinal half full and a plunger on the floor. It’s a shame that the fine dining experience I remember seems to have vanished, and no one seems to care.

We visited Six By Nico at around 7pm on the 26th of August 2024. The food was tasty and high quality - exactly what you'd expect at a restaurant at this price point. Good food - not world beating, and definitely not the best in that part of Edinburgh, but decent food nonetheless. Our main concerns were around the service. We left the restaurant at 9:20pm after having the 6 course service. This meant an average wait of about 25 minutes between courses. The plates are small; you're able to eat one course in around 2/3 minutes, so that made the wait for the next course feel excruciatingly slow. There were a few occasions where the whole restaurant seemed to grind to a halt, with no tables visibly eating. Aside from the slow service, the waitress spilled a glass of Coke on someone at our table. We received an apology but no offer of discount or anything. When we received the bill we were over-charged by ~£40 as they had billed us for an extra person - so watch out for this. Make sure you double check everything on the receipt! After that, the service seemed to just fade out. There wasn't a happy/firm goodbye and send off - we were really just left to leave the table after we paid. We all felt as though after the waitress' blunders, and the late time of night that perhaps she just wanted to get home. Overall: Food: 7.5/10 Service: 2/10 Atmosphere: 5.5/10

Everyone raves about this place so I thought I’d give it a try. I thought the outside and inside a little grotty and a squash which I guess is offset by the low prices for a six course taster menu. One of my favs for light fine-dining. Six by Nico offers six courses (hence the name). The first two are light appetizers, the middle three are dainty portions of main dishes and the final dish is dessert. They offer a regular course and a vegetarian option as well. They swap their menus every once in a while. Our theme was "Almafi Coast". I first tried the one in Aberdeen and loved it. Decided to try the one in edinburgh, and this restaurant was also fantastic. The food is plated exquisitely and the flavors are seamlessly cohesive. Service was great and each dish was described to us. Overall, a great place to check out. Affordable tasting menu, but ultimately a bit disappointing. The dessert course was a surprising highlight. We had the chippie menu with matched wines. The main disappointment was the wine. Not a single wine was to my taste, other than the primitivo (which likewise was rated a high 4.2 on vivino). However, despite being a good wine, the primitivo did not really match with the dessert (one is available for 4 EUR a bottle). On looking the wines up on vivino all others were lowly rated and very cheap bottles, as expected based on their quality. Some of the courses had fine-dining flair, but it was not consistent. I don't get out for meals much these days so will head somewhere more special for future meals. Baby change bathroom had no mirror while the men's toilets were very dimly lit (darker than the main restaurant).

A must do for anyone in Edinburgh! A really special culinary experience, every course was better than the next. I would strongly advise getting the wine pairing as it was truly perfect with every course. Our server Amy was a gem she knew so much about the dishes and the wines and was just genuinely a great host for our Amalfi Coast experience.

This was my (slightly belated because adulting schedules are hard) birthday dinner, and the first time I'd ever done anything of this level. I can't deny I was a little bit daunted by the price just because I've never ever come close to spending this much on a meal, but I have to say I was absolutely blown away and it was absolutely worth it. First off - just to give a big thumbs up to the attentiveness of the SbN team, as I'd pointed out on my booking form that I have an aversion to tomatoes, and they were excellent in dealing with this, swapping out the tomato-based course on my menu for something equally good. I've been to restaurants whose idea of adjusting a menu like that would be to simply serve the same dish without the tomato in it, but SbN went an extra mile there. The service was excellent - we had multiple people at our table over the night checking in on us, but our main guy was (I believe - apologies if I've got this wrong!) Timothy, and he was very helpful and friendly. The food was, well, the best meal I've had in my life (yes, even better than my mum's mince and tatties), and both me and my wife were genuinely impressed and delighted by it. Again, the food was very different to what I'd usually have, even on an occasion dinner, but the skill was evident and the flavours went together so well. I think I could have eaten the smoked onion emulsion (I think? I'm not great with the technical terms, sorry!) which came with the trio of pork as if it were a sorbet, it was so delicious, and that was just one small component. I've attached some distinctly amateur photos (I'm no influencer!) to give an idea, but they don't really do the experience justice. I don't drink, but my wife had the paired wines and thoroughly enjoyed herself with those too - each patiently explained to her upon delivery to the table - and although she's not a big drinker, the serving sizes were just right to not be too much. So yes, it's expensive (especially by my standards), but I have to say it was absolutely worth it on every level, and I hope I can find a chance to come back again in the future to try something else. The new "Trust" menu sounds fascinating. The only tiny (genuinely tiny) feedback I would give is that the restaurant is quite noisy, and the servers were quite softly spoken, so I had to strain to hear sometimes. They were always very nice about repeating, but feel free to shout toward me if I'm ever in again! :)

Had lunch with my husband at Six by Nico Edinburgh to celebrate our Anniversary. Our tasting Menu was ‘Trust’ where you are given a blank menu and have to guess the ingredients contained in each course. The food was based on the childhood experiences of the Danish Head Chef and every course was presented with great attention to detail as you would expect from Six. John, our waiter provided us with exceptional service, extending the intrigue of the ‘Trust’ concept throughout the meal. We have been to the branch on at least eight previous occasions, but this was by far our favourite concept as we were encouraged to really examine the flavours in the food, not just taste it. Our Anniversary was thoughtfully celebrated with a glass of fizz & a Six by Nico card, making this a memorable experience for both of us. As we thought today was the Amalfi Coast menu we will just have to return to sample that menu. Many thanks to all staff but particularly John & the Chefs who produced incredibly creative & delicious food - it’s a 10 from us 🤩 We’ll be back soon!

I am a self confessed Six by Nico obsessive, having been for the Street Food, New York, Mexican and Mad Hatter menu. We play a game with each dish by giving it a mark out of 10. Amalfi Coast got 10 for EVERY DISH. Kaludia and Jack were absolutely amazing and so attentive. Jack told us all about each dish and Kaludia even went as far as messaging Head Office for the Songs By Nico playlist when I complimented the music. I’m coming back on Friday for the Greek Menu to Glasgow Southside and I’ll be coming for every menu, forever. Favourite restaurant of all time and has me trying foods out my comfort zone which I love. Thanks Nico and your wonderful team! 🤍

My husband and I love to do chef's menus, and Six by Nico was probably one of my very favourites, if not the top! The food was absolutely delicious, the presentation was creative, and we particularly loved the map design on the menu. They were also very accommodating of some food allergies. Their passion for good food offered in new and creative ways was wonderful. I only wish there was a restaurant location here in Canada! If we are ever back in Edinburgh, this will be high on our list of places to go.

Somewhere by Nico - Our waiter was excellent but the incense used for one course basically constantly smelt and kinda ruined the ambience. Music was to loud and the tables to close to the bar so we kept getting hit with some one walking past or getting served When we walk out after other seats seemed better for volume etc so perhaps we were unlucky.

Tried the six by Nico 10 course tasting experience...absolutely awful experience. We turned up at 8pm with reservations and was only seated at our table 8:50, waiting in the cold and freezing to death. No apologies whatsoever from the servers, only explanation was that people had turned up late and had to push back Food took over half an hour to arrive once we sat down, service was awful and dishes were just plopped down onto our table canteen style. Kitchen staff obviously looked stressed and we witnessed arguments between the staff. Food when it arrived, was average and very uninspiring. Highly do not recommend.

We had a 'New York' set menu dinner for 2. If in short, I would not recommend this place. Below I added comments amount atmosphere, service and current set menu. Service: When booked initially I specified that one of the fish meals needs to be replaced with veggiterian option. Then I reminded this at the entrance when greeted. Then I reminded this to the waiter and then we eventually got served 2 vegetarian options 🤷🏻 Also, we ordered one type of cocktails and that was mixed up as well. and waiters when serving dishes mumbled everything extra fast with zero enthusiasm and were running off. Overall, not much joy really from the process. Atmosphere: Usually I would expect somewhat elegant, quiet and calm atmosphere in places like this. However, it was quite crowded, very little space, quite noisy to the extend that it was hard to hear each, not much different from going to a regular pub. So focusing on enjoying the company of your partner/date and food was challenging. Food: Course 1 - Pepperoni Ragù, Panzanella, Parmesan Foam There was so much parmesan foam that it was overtaking any other tastes and apart from intense parmesan it was hard to taste anything else. And serving was not very elegant, just everything put in small bowl. Course 2 - B.E.C – Bacon, Egg & Cheese Smoked Bacon Belly, Confit Egg Yolk & Trapanese ‘Hot Sauce’ This course was just dissapointing and mediocre. it's a kind of an English breakfast served for dinner and nicely put on a plate. Course 3 - Pastrami Sandwich - Ox ‘Pastrami Sandwich’, Choucroute, Pickled Kohlrabi, Battered Gherkin, Frenchies Emulsion Pastrami was nice. Choucrouteand was such a small piece with such a mild taste, that it was hard to pick up the taste of ot. Pickled Kohlrabi and Gherkins were almost like as if I bought them at Lidl. Overall, not impressed, usual pastrami sandwich tastes better. Course 4 - The Everything Bagel - Grenobloise Coalfish, Salt Baked Celeriac, Wild Garlic, Caper & Lemon Dressing This was a nice and interesting set of combinations. Course 5 “Double Chicken Please” Buttermilk Chicken, Hot Honey Sauce, Jalapeno Ketchup, Thai Basil & Hazelnut Pesto 3 different sauces with a little piece of chicken. Simply put, you don't have enough chicken to enjoy all the sauces, and if you mix them, it's a mess. I guess this was just a bad combination. but separately, everything tasted alright. Course 6 - Lower East Side Apple Pie Baked Apple Creme, New York Cheesecake Sorbet, Dulce De Leche, Cookies & Cream Crumble This was okay. Basically diconstructed cheesecake. Looked pleasant for the eye, but nothing extraordinary. So, overall, if you seek an interesting food experience I would recommend to pick another place, like dinner at 'Aizle' for example or lunch at 'The kitchin'. It will be an extra £20, but at least you will have an actual unique and interesting experience, with caring service and relaxing atmosphere. If it's your first time trying a set tasting menu, well, I'm worried that this place might leave so so impression and felling that this experience is not worth the money. Well, considering that I left £140 for a dinner for 2 + 2 drinks each + Service charge, I left with a strong feeling that there are enough places in Edi where I could have had a better dinner for less. and no wonder this place is not mentioned in Michelin Guide 🤷🏻 'miser pays twice' as they say, and guess that was me this time.

Saw the instagram posts was excited to try it but spectacularly underwhelming. New york theme, regular tasting menu with wine pairing. The wines were instantly forgettable and didn't enhance and occasionally jarred with the courses. The new york slice didn't go well with the overwhelming cookie, the BEC was a mess on the plate, I was most excited about the pastrami but it was bland and oily. Everything bagel was standout but capers were mostly vinegar and chilled and didn't sell well in the dish. The chicken was dry and don't remember much else about it. Lobster roll was very greasy, Apple pie was exciting but looked horrible on the plate. I've experienced six by nico, the staff were mostly friendly, one had quite bad BO another was mostly disinterested it was fun watching the pass bithing about the front of house who were occasionally ignoring them working out something on an ipad. It was an experience.

Great value for a special treat dinner. We paid for six courses what you might pay for a three-course in any regular restaurant, thanks to seeking out a £32pp special offer. I’d pay £42 though, the regular price. Matching wines are good. Service is impeccable but you can tell it’s a bit scripted (maybe because it was the first week of the menu).

After hearing good things about this restaurant we were both avidly excited. However on receiving our set meals we were both extremely disappointed. Food was not that great, the taste was bland and portions were absolutely tiny for the price you are paying. This type of restaurant is not for people with good taste just to much to spend. I could not fault the staff they were great. The couple sat next to us after receiving their meal stated they were going for a chippy afterwards- that they would also most likely enjoy the chippy more than this experience. Despite having a 70 pound voucher this ridiculously priced establishment cost us well over 130 pound for the crumbs of a meal and a few drinks. AVOID- there is so much better places in Edinburgh that are far more value for money.

My partner and I went for a very special anniversary after eyeing it up for a while. As 2 experienced foodies we were very excited to try given the hype and opted for the Newyork themed menu. After the first bite we knew we had made a big mistake as it tasted like it had been prepared years in advance giving it a cold, stale and defrosted taste. It did not taste like food at all more like a mouldy car tire. The service was very poor, waiters had dirt in their nails and were coming mm away from the food with them, basic hygiene standards were not met. We were seated in the back which was incredibly smelly and noisy, we couldn’t hear each other speak never mind the waiter. We had to leave half way through as we could simply not stomach anymore. I would avoid at all costs and recommend opting for other restaurants nearby such as tipo, where the staff go above and beyond, the food is way better and the prices more reasonable.

We had pre-booked an evening meal for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary while staying at the Old Waverley Hotel. I had requested a table with a view if possible and we had a corner table in the window with a view of Edinburgh Castle and the Scott Memorial. There is a fixed price menu (3 courses for £24.95) with about 4 choices for each course. My husband & I both had the same choices: Garlic Chilli King Prawn Bruschetta served with rustic bread, tomato, basil, salsa, mix leaves & lemon wedge Chicken Prosciutto on a bed of creamed potatoes with mixed vegetables Scottish Cheese Platter served with chutney, cheese biscuits & grapes We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the food was well presented and tasty, and the service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our breakfasts as well, tea & coffee brought to the table and the hot/cold buffet with cooked breakfast (including haggis), choice of juices, toast, cereals, yogurt, fruit compote, fresh fruit and croissants.
