Disappointing experience at this pub. Waited 45 minutes to be served despite a 10-minute wait time announcement. Prepaid, so couldn't leave. Burger buns were cold. Not recommended for dining.

Good place to have a few pints,ñ. The waitress is very nice. 4 stars because in the last year prices have risen more than usual.

The new kitchen takeover by 'Relish It' has done wonders to the food, elevating the menu to street food style dishes surpassing most pubs in quality and range. Staff are personable, friendly, and chaotic. Everything you could want from a local. There are "nicer" bars to have a better cocktail or drink selection but as a local pub to socialise, meet new people and drink in questionable amounts it's hard to beat. Quintessentially a local pub that feels like home, albeit a dysfunctional one.

Excellent local with cool bar staff. Gemma got me some late night chips, Sarah has affirmed my horror of Granton, Natasha has helped me understand how some people's feet are just better than others.

Sad the waffles fries are no longer on the menu but the quiz on Wednesday’s is great so I’ll cope!

Go weekly for the excellent quiz, staff are incredibly friendly, good choice of drinks and at a decent price. Everyone including Gemma, Callum, Maddie, Zoe, Sarah and Natalie are all incredibly attentive and friendly. They have all made this feel like a second home.

Visited the Mash Tun on Saturday 24/02/2024 at around 8.30pm, by 8.50pm we still hadn’t been served. Despite asking for a cocktail menu when we’d first arrived and despite multiple people being served before us who had arrived after us. After 20 minutes I said “excuse me, sorry but we’ve been here for a while” the waitress replied “well I’ve been here for 8.5hrs.” And continued to serve someone else who had arrived after us. A simple “will be with you in a minute” would have been fine, but that response from staff at our local over the last few years, was very disappointing. We’ve spend many weekends in the Mash Tun, but we won’t be back after that.

They’ve ruined the menu. Cost cutting I assume. Such a shame as loved it before. Gutted I won’t visit again. Still good for football and drinks. But if you are reading the food reviews, it’s all changed since last week.

Having returned to the Mash Tun after years away, it's still a great pub, with friendly staff and tasty food. Having sports on the TV with the volume up isn't to my personal preference, but it's still a great place to go!

Used to come here every fortnight with my partner for Steak Thursdays as the steak was lovely, but apparently they are no longer doing this offer. This is very disappointing and whilst bar staff and selection of drinks are decent the food menu now has much to be desired and we are struggling to find somewhere else for date night.

Good full breakfast. Order at the bar. Football on the telly with sound. Nice enough place.

Brilliant pub on Easter Road, great beers, great food, friendly welcome. Good selection of tap and craft beers, well cooked pub grub, my mac n cheese was delicious. If you are in the vicinity, give the Mash Tun a try.

Your average pub with a better ambience. Drinks are a little dear for the location, I'd say. They have a large TV for watching sports in one corner. And there's open mic on Saturday evenings.

Female staffs are extremely rude, impolite and doesn't care at all. I even felt that one of them (skinny short and blond one) was raciest towards me and didn't wanted to even serve me. I was standing at the bar counter and she was free and available but she didn't even wanted to come and take my order. I'm never ever going back again!!! Disgusting!

Service was fine but I got charged £8.2 for a pint of guinness and a wee glass of coke, which I think is shocking. I hadn't realised Easter Road was now the new George Street. They won't see my money again, that's for sure. Edit: I don't think you can use use the cost of life crisis as an excuse for charging £2.40 for a small glass of coke.... As I said this is Easter Road, not George Street, local pubs should do local pubs prices.

Great wee boozer. Laid out nicely, food good, and staff quick and efficient. This place can be very busy before and after football matches so unless you're going to the game I'd avoid an hour before and after. Otherwise it's up there with the best in the area

I can strongly recommend The Mash Tun. The bartender C.S. had an incredible knowledge about the products they sell. Fair prices, good atmosphere and again, C.S. easily wins the employee of the month award every time. He’s the Bayern Munich/PSG version of an employee, if you go the mash tun ask to be served by C.S. and enjoy a sophisticated time while you feel like “you’re back in your mums womb” (anonymous quote) cause this guy just knows how to make the customers feel welcome.

Very good local bar on Easter Road. This pub does food and shows all the main sporting events. Friendly staff. Food is very reasonably priced - burgers between £10 and £11.50. Good mix of beers on tap - delighted to see Tiny Rebel's 'Clwb Tropicana' on tap (£6.60) though they do have cheaper pints on tap.

I visited the Mash Tun with 9 members of my family. The orders took well over an hour to arrive, despite enquiring several times what the delay was. Some of the food arrived earlier but they had mixed up the order. I was for finally served (see photo) a portion of regular nachos £9.50 but it was just a small bowl of tortilla chips covered with sour cream. When I queried the size & where were he rest of the accompaniments as per the menu, I was told by the server that this was the standard size and that he doesn't make the prices. I was told there was no cheese or guacamole & after complaining, I was given a tiny bowl of salsa on the side. I have eaten in here before and been satisfied with the quality and quantity but not in this occasion. All out food came at different times and because of mixing up the order, some if the accompaniments were cold by the time the rest arrived. No apologies of any sincerity, the server clearly couldn't be bothered. A very disappointing visit.

Went in for a quiet drink at lunchtime on a Friday to meet a client. Was 'greeted' by a blonde haired Irish bartender who seemed indifferent - that I was a inconvenience. Her Irish friend/colleague/flatmate was lying sprawled on the couch as if she had falling from the sky. The table beside her was littered with all manner of things and she gave the impression she was hungover. The bartender and friend continued with a loud personal conversation across the bar for some time. I reminded them that this was a bar and not a bedsit and if they wanted to socialise while at work - at least sit together and not shout across the entire bar back and forth. We couldn't hear ourselves speak. My remark was met with discontent. Shame really - I used to go to The Mash Tun all the time before COVID - next time, I'll check who is on duty before entering. I appreciate hospitality is struggling to recruit staff - but professional conduct is expected.

Came here to watch the football after coming here once before and really enjoyed it. The food is great pub food and still is, however on this occasion the bar staff (only one member of staff working) was very disinterested and rude. Half of the beers on tap weren’t working either. I would return however if greeted like this again I would go elsewhere

Went for my lunch break with my partner, just got a steak sandwich, chicken club and a pint and half a shandy. The steak sandwich was alright, the meat and bread was good but it came with one piece of yellowish lettuce and that’s it. My partners chicken club was better but nothing special. Got the bill and everything came to £33, we weren’t told that chips cost extra. So my sub par steak sandwich that cost £11.50 didn’t even come with chips. Asked the staff as we were confused why it cost so much, they were non plussed at best and dismissive. Super expensive for what it was and really disappointed as it’s our local.

We surprised them by showing up at 8 pm with 10 people of dinner and they accommodated us! That alone was a welcome surprise -- but then we got our food. YUM! The food was delicious. So glad we stumbled on this place. Would totally recommend them to others.

The bar staff quickly accommodated a large group of 10 at 8 pm, which was a welcome surprise as we had been turned away from other establishments. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. If you're in the area -- stop in.

Attended for a quick bite of dinner before the football game. Didn’t expect much, as it looked like a standard pub catering for the football crowd. However I was intrigued by the names for dishes on the menu, and very pleasantly surprised when the food arrived. Well presented, but more importantly absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and visible, without being pushy and “in your face”. If we play Hibs again, this will be a definite port of call for me.

The only pub on Easter Road that celebrates Aberdeen's 1983 European Cup Winners Cup victory over Real Madrid. Pints and food are decent too.

Popped in for lunch with family. Young blond irish girl had a friendly welcoming demeanour and we felt instantly comfortable. She recommended the vegan burgers which did not disappoint. Plenty to choose from and the espresso martinis are ace. Stayed much longer than expected and totally enjoyed the night. Highly recommended

Went here last night with my kids. Was taken with the pre football match vibe. Service was very quick and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the young woman with the Doctor Martin Boots. It’s not a fancy place. Just a good honest pub that does decent pub food at a reasonable price. Yes. I will go back.

The Mash tun is a pub. I'm writing this down because I didn't realise that until I got there and ordered and I was with my kid. Fortunately they allow for kids up till 8 pm. Very welcoming, down to earth place. If you didn't know you're in a Scottish pub, you'd say has a bit of a hipster look or shabby chic. But essentially very Scottish. About the food - they do a mean burger - juicy and crispy and very tasty. I had the chicken one and comes with pulled pork mixed with sauce which makes the whole thing deliciously moist. Comes with chips and coleslaw. Delicious! Pricing very fair.

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Visited with my dad who uses a travel size mobility scooter. Flat entry available through a slightly tight door, or through another door with a slight step. Disabled toilet available at the back of the ground floor, but I suspect it would be difficult to get to when the pub is busy. Staff couldn't be more helpful with any assistance required with access though. Food choice was a little limited but extremely nice and more than a step above the usual chain style offerings. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them

Stopped by for food and some drinks. Initially impressed - seemed to have a good, relaxed vibe. Drinks were on the expensive side for what it is - north of £6 a pint. We encountered the same service issues others have - very laidback but without much in the way of attention or respect for the fact you’re the customer. But it was the food which was the major issue - a burger ordered without cheese and sauce, due to a dietary restriction, arrived with both. It was returned, though the member of staff didn’t apologise. Sadly when it was replaced it was clear the chef had simply scraped off the cheese and dipped it back in the fryer, leaving remnants still on the patty. Simply not good enough, not at all respectful of dietary needs and a way to lose a regular spend on the premises.

I like to support a relative local but they make it difficult. Food is generally good. Service very variable. Some good staff and others who would seem to be doing the customers a favour by serving them. They also need to decide what the opening...

Arrived to find no staff member was aware of our table booking. Ordered food using the QR code however hadn’t noticed that there was an error showing and when we questioned as to why our food was taking so long was told they hadn’t received...

Very small selection of drinks but reasonably priced. Food just ok. Chicken burger was nice, beef burger pretty dry (but pulled pork topping was lovely). Even that place was quiet staff didn't seems to be interested in serving customers.

Great atmosphere. Prices for drinks and full food is fair. Bar snacks a little pricier that I would like. Service was good. No accessibility for wheelchairs but visually impaired individual with support wpuld get on OK.

It was normally good in here, but I ordered a Rum and Coke and it tasted like undiluted syrup. I told the barman and he asked me if I wanted it replaced. The replacement was not a lot better and gave up at the point.

Good range, reasonable prices, centrally located and friendly. Very dark though so if you're wearing sun glasses you might get lost.

£30 2 x steak and bottle of wine deal is great value, especially as the steak comes with a number of sides and a sauce.
