Scotts in Edinburgh, City of

Service was abysmal throughout. Took ages to take drinks order. Also, a long time for food to be served. Starters came at different times. Some of our party were finished before others had received theirs. When main courses arrived, one was stone cold and had to be replaced which meant more waiting time. At the end of the meal we expressed our discontent and received a good discount which was appreciated. We were there over 3 hours to have two courses. Life is too short. Have been many times to Scotts and enjoyed the experience. Seems to be going downhill.

Nice place and customer service unfortunately my partners eggs were undercooked, my food was nice but the potato scone was burnt to a crisp.

Food was excellent- staff friendly and knowledgeable about the food on the menu. Did not feel rushed with the food or requiring the table back. Great atmosphere

Have written 2 previous reviws for here. The first was awful the second was excellent and this one is average. 4 different meals 2 good and 2 poor. 1 dis h was 80% batter! 1 dish the meat quantity was very low! The other 2 were quite good. Starters all decent. The prices versus quantity and quality are looney. Over the top - just not that good. Staff and venuse excellent.

Lamb was undercooked and Hot Salmon and King Prawn Gratin, had very little Salmon and Prawns it was mainly potato and peas. Then after that they tried to overcharge us. Thought Scott's was meant to be a good place to eay but to be honest we will never be going here again.

Absolutely amazing fantastic service gorgeous food such a relaxed atmosphere lovely surroundings beautiful interior ,so relaxing amazing staff and view to die for outside ,would highly recommend restaurant for all ages families everyone would enjoy this amazing place ( my new restaurant when I am in fife as I live in highlands ) :-)

When for my anniversary yesterday was amazing food and drinks have always loved Scott’s since it opens and try to go once a month. Can’t beat it ❤️👍

Food was great, but service was very slow. It was a busy evening to be fair and also the Christmas season, but occasionally you'd wave a waiter down, they stare at you and walk right past.

Had a Fish and chips and Cullen Skink soup, Fish and Chips was excellent but The soup was apostasy rubbish yes rubbish, it had some herbs some chopped potato ,single cream and smoked flavoured test runny like water , I have eaten this Soup many many times in different Restaurants bu this one was a super Rubbish. Osman Coskun , 14/01/24 paid £30.14 and what a waste of money , You need magnifying glass to find fish in soup 🤣🤣🤣

We came along to Scott's for our works Christmas night, there was 14 of our team and we could not be happier with the service, quality of food and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant - not to mention the stunning views!. We had an absaloutley fantastic night at Scotts and have already thinking about booking for our night out next Christmas! Massive thank you to all the waiters / waitresses, chefs and bar staff - you were absaloutley incredible and really made our staff night special! Highly highly recommend Scott's to anybody looking for a great night whether this be drinks in the beautiful bar or for a truly amazing meal in the restaurant.

We came as a table of ten. The food overall was nice but one meal was wrong, then served cold when corrected. 2 different bottles of red wine unavailable. Service was generally okay but we had to keep asking for more drinks and even water for the table. Price wasn't too bad.

Love Scotts for a lunch or dinner. The decor of the place makes it feel that little bit more special. Only thing was the “chilli fries” were abit of an anticlimax, just fries with chilli’s on top. Was expecting some sort of seasoning.

Lovely breakfast, but not 5star, no mention on santa meet on booking so arrived to screaming kids !!, (wouldn't class as kids restaurant), left for 15mins with wrong menu, so service bit poor !!, could be so much better, food lovely, but ti expensive for what you get and experience.

Fantastic meal, great location under the forth bridges and warm inviting restaurant. Quite possibly the best Cullen Skink I’ve ever eaten.

My friend and I, had Christmas lunch at Scott's restaurant; the food was absolutely delicious, the service was very good, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant Christmas decorations were really lovely, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We will be visiting again and I would highly recommend going there for lunch/dinner.

This weekend we celebrated my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary at Scotts. The food was lovely and the service was spot on, the staff could not have done more to accommodate and help us celebrate. Thoroughly recommend!

The food was okay but overpriced. Service really wasn’t great and one member of staff was particularly impolite. Not what you are looking for when you are paying over £300 for a meal. I would not recommend going here if you are vegan, vegetarian or have an alternative appearance.

Visited on Wednesday night for the first time and there is not one bad thing to say The food was great the sevice was fast and friendly and the prices reasonable And not to mention the views from the window are absokutly stunning. I will definitely be back again

Just had a lovely lunch - good value, good food, good service. Very apologetic that we had to wait a little for our dessert (although we hadn't said anything - we were in no hurry and quite happy to enjoy the view!) Two courses on the set menu for £18.95 so very reasonable and sensibly good portions. Parking no problem either. Highly recommend.

Best place I’ve been to for a while. Absolutely delicious food, excellent wine, impeccable service and accommodating, especially considering we were the last ones in the place. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!! Will be back

Great venue, great food, great service

I took my 7 and 11 year old boys for dinner. We were made to feel so welcome and nothing was any trouble. My youngest got various things to keep him amused and the kids menu had good variety on it. I had whitebait and fish tacos. My eldest had Cullen skink and Gambas pil pil. Puddings were Bailey's cheesecake and apple crumble tart. Absolutely everything was delicious and served with a smile. Just a really lovely evening.

Great breakfast. Staying at a local hotel, we came across Scott’s after a google search. The location is stunning, food fantastic and service perfect. When we are next in town we will be back again.

An excellent venue for breakfast,lunch and dinner or morning coffee. Fantastic service by friendly and efficient servers,great choice of food to suit everyone. Superb range of cocktails and good quality wine. Fabulous coffee too. Best to book a table though as it becomes very busy. Definitely worth a visit.

Just so mediocre. Really can’t understand the high reviews on this place. Would hate to assume it’s indicative of the average Dunfermline customers palate… but then what else? Location and decent interior decor is the only thing keeping this in business, otherwise it’s just an average chain. Service isn’t great either, kept forgetting things and dropping stuff. If you actually care about good food and have taste then avoid this place and go Orocco Pier for a similar vibe but better establishment. If you’re not fussed and have a simple palate then go for it I guess.

Burger was under cooked and this wasted my partners evening.

Have been many times always happy with experience. Came yesterday for special birthday with family. Service was terrible, waitress did not know what soup of the day was, came to our table with other people food, served soup had to ask for a spoon, one dish came without accompaniments had to ask for them. Both burgers should have had salad, only 1 had, given empty vinegar bottle. We had 2 prawn cocktails and had to hunt the prawns amongst the abundance of lettuce. Steak was just ok, not worth the money. The waitress was clueless except for asking us 4 times if we wanted more drinks even though we all had drinks in our glasses. Very disappointed, wish I had read the tripadvisor reviews as all said going downhill recently and to give a miss. Also annoyed at the service charge being added without consultation, we had non existence good service. Sadly we will not be back.

Location and atmosphere are great. This place always seems to be busy every time we are there. Fish and chips is very good, catalan fish stew needs some work. Overall, this place is recommended 👌

Food really good, service very slow, atmosphere nice but music a little too loud/basey so struggled to hear conversation. It wouldn't stop me going back as have had a more positive experience in the past.

My boyfriend & I came here for dinner on a Monday evening and it was wonderful. Warm, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. We thought it was relatively busy for a Monday, this was good, it contributed to the ambience. The lady that served us, i'm so sorry, I don't know your name, but you were great and contributed to our experience. We took a little while to decide what we wanted, we weren't rushed at all and were given some great recommendations. We shared a selection of starters rather than going for mains as we weren't that hungry, but the starters are huge and really filled us up! This restaurant is such good value for money, especially as they do a glass of Veuve Clicquot for £12.45! The dishes were really tasty - we went for the garlic prawns, chorizo croquettes and duck bao bun. Our waitress then recommended the Bailey's cheesecake and wow, it was amazing! All round lovely experience and we will definitely be returning should we visit Queensferry again.

Nice food, nice decor, nice staff,amazing location with great views

Beautiful view and beautiful restaurant. I’ve been already few times and I can say food is nice but worst with service. My last time there was lovely sunny weather so we decided to take a table outside. If you take table outside that means you have to go inside to do order by yourself which was strange but it was fine until I go inside to do order and I saw 5 waiters on the bar talking and having fun so, why they can’t take an order from you in restaurant like this? Making order was a bit hard as well because they saw me when I came to the bar but they pretended they didn’t see me. We were waiting for main course 50 minutes because they forgot about us and I actually had to go inside and remind them that I’m ready for main after starter. At the end on the bill was service charge which of course I deny to pay as service was very poor and actually was no service at all.

Late booking on a Sunday night. Fitted us in. Placed order had starter. Ordered tomahawk but came and let us know they had ran out after starter. Had a chateaubriand which as lovely as it was it wasn't a tomahawk. They added extra sides on for free and offered discount. Lovely atmosphere. Staff were amazing. Very attentive. Food was lovely.

I have visited many times but I believe there is inconsistency in the service and quality We had the bread as a starter which was a total dissapointment as the bread was heavy and tasteless and did not accompany the truffle butter in any way! The Thai curry dish was good but some chicken was on the bone and unexpected with some prawn cracker soft The Restaurant has become very pricey and automatically add on a service charge without asking if the service was up to standard. I think Scott's need to look at all the reviews as the overall standard is very average and make nescessary changes as they will start to loose many loyal customers

We have heard great reports about Scotts and our wedding anniversary seemed as good an opportunity as any to give it a try. Online booking was easy and we were well received and seated with what must be the best view of the three bridges in the restaurant. A very interesting menu made selection difficult because we could have easily had anything on offer. Choices made and service was quick and our Pil Pil starter was just delicious and a generous portion too. Fish Goujons and a chicken ceaser salad soon followed and we were again impressed with the quality and portion sizes. I am constantly surprised at drinks prices in restaurants and £5.65 for a beer that’s £1.65 in every supermarket seems excessive to me and a glass of wine costing almost the same as a bottle falls into the same category these prices are clear on the drinks menu so no complaint just my opinion. Overall our visit was a great experience and we will definitely return, one other point was the music and as a musician I appreciate all genres but the volume and balance must be appropriate and on this occasion it was too loud and bass dominant which could spoil any conversation and seemed to irritate other diners seated directly under a speaker. The bill arrived with a 10% service charge with no option, so again something to be aware of. We came for the food and the venue and both were superb and we can recommend it.

Pros: Inaide is lovely decor and warm Service was good, waiter attentive. Good music and nice atmosphere. Nice location. Now to the cons: Main meal was just ok - not enough on the plate and still felt hungry afterwards. It is rather expensive for what it is. Wouldn't be in a rush to go back but it was ok.

Very tasty breakfast in a beautiful atmosphere with a view of the sea!

I would like to start by saying I’m a regular visitor here and been around 10 times in the past. We were celebrating an occasion ( which I did notify them of on the booking to which no acknowledgement was made) We were sat down and abandoned waited around 20 minutes then a waitress came to take our food order we had to ask to make a drinks order as no one had come over for that. Anyway we ordered and 2 of the 3 meals come out. 10 mins later the 3rd person still hadn’t received their meal and I had ordered a fillet medium which came out far too rare so I had to send it back. By the time it came back everyone had almost finished their meals. My £40 fillet steak was served with 4 huge salad tomatoes and a handful of dry spinach …..really?! Everyone commented their chips were cold. We sat for ages until the girl took our plates away. We decided to order dessert. We went for the chocolate delice, apple crumble and rhubarb cheesecake. None of us enjoyed them and the prices for these are too high for what you get. We had to ask for the bill. They have the cheek to add a service charge onto the bill something I very much disagree with especially when the service was non existent. We all said how disappointed we were. Scott’s - buck your ideas up! I’m a regular but seriously considering not coming back. It was really abysmal.

Wow! This restaurant is spectacular! Amazing inside and out, the views from our table were absolutely breathtaking! The food, especially my Bloody Mary Prawn Cocktail starter was the best I have ever had! The staff were attentive and looked after us very well, I will be back and I can't wait!

Visited for a Sunday lunch recently with family and had an enjoyable meal. This is a lovely restaurant to visit for lunch or during the day, so you can take in all the beautiful views around the Forth Bridges. Food was tasty and very generously portioned. Tempura starter was particularly tasty. Nice drinks selection with some good value mocktails for drivers. Some very minor points - The restaurant was very busy on Sunday so staff were perhaps busier / more stretched than usual (had to wait at the bar for a while before anyone acknowledged my arrival, service waits, toilet paper not refilled in the bathrooms, etc.) Overall experience was still good and I would definitely visit again.

We are regular visitors to Scott’s as it’s one of our favourite local haunts - however this was the first time visiting for breakfast. The experience felt very chilled out and laid back - the food was great and the service was exactly as we’ve come to expect from Scott’s. Great food, great service and breathtaking views of the bridges. Defo worth a visit!

Lunch here off lunch menu of rump steak as Steak En Frites was first class. As good as any fillet steak. Not a huge portion but with a starter and Afogatto to finish it was perfect. Great service too.

Great staff and venue. We only had coffee and cakes but they were all good, especially the coffee. Great staff.

I don’t usually bother to write bad reviews, but the service here is a disgrace. We were pointed to a table. It took ten minutes for someone to take our drinks order, then we waited a further twenty minutes without our drinks being served. We asked a young-ish waiter about our drinks and she assured us they’d be there in one minute. A further ten minutes and they had still not arrived. Meanwhile, large numbers of dirty glasses were piling up on the bar - not a great sight. We decided to leave and I accosted the person who appeared to be in charge (gentleman with man-bun). I explained we were leaving as we had been waiting an unacceptably long time, with no drinks. I also pointed out the dirty glasses piling up on the bar. He offered no apology whatsoever, nor even a hint that he understood there was any kind of problem. I suggested he needed to get a grip. He just looked blank. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a shambolic system, or complete lack of a system. Someone needs to sort this place out.

Really good food and nice surroundings in a great spot by the forth bridge

We had a deeply disappointing Sunday lunch at Scott’s in South Queensferry. From the moment we arrived, service was appalling. No welcome at the front desk, confusion related to our booking and table, chaos in seating us, we waiting over twenty minutes for orders to be taken (many of which were forgotten and needed to be promoted a second or third time). There was clear chaos around the restaurant with staff wandering around aimlessly and chatting at service stations. There were an abundance of dirty glasses waiting on the bar to be loaded into a dishwasher for almost the entirety of our visit. There is quite clearly a dramatic gap in leadership with young/junior staff lacking direction or attention to detail. The food not only lacked sparkle but was tasteless, oily and stodgy with many ingredients bought in rather than prepared on site. For example the fish tacos came with shop bought guacamole (horrible compared to fresh), pre prepared tartare sauce and tired vegetables. The burger was overcooked and lacking in flavour. Everything was bland and needed seasoning. The dishes here aren’t cheap and the poor quality of the food did not meet our expectations or the value set by the menu. The women’s toilets clearly hadn’t been serviced for quite some time with toilet paper all over the floor and cubicles with empty toilet paper holders. While the view is lovely I wouldn’t recommend Scott’s to anyone and will not return.

Only went for coffee and desert. Largley ignored for most of the time we were there, but staff were nice enough and it was good to see the chemistry and banter between staff members. Wife had a pretty weak pot of tea and the sticky toffee pudding was mostly dry and certainly not sticky. Coffee was good though. As always a great atmosphere.

What a lovely place to meet a dear friend who I haven’t seen for a number of years. The setting is beautiful, with a view of the three bridges. The service was fantastic and the food the best I’ve eaten in a long time! Definitely recommend!!

Really lovely evening and made to feel really special for our 30th wedding Anniversary

Lovely place, it was super foggy so we couldn't see the bridge at all... 😂 Had the best fish taco's and the waitress pointed out the chips come with chillies when I asked to remove the spicy mayo. (I very much appreciate this!) There was also a fish tank right next to our table which was lovely to watch them whilst we ate.

Outboard is an amazing setup. Being able to take away when you're busy on the Marina is so unbelievably useful. The inside setting is lovely, and the views are brilliant. The food is always a great quality and the staff always friendly!

Gorgeous location with great food and drinks. We decided to stop off here for lunch out of convenience and were very pleasantly surprised. Staff were very friendly and the food and drink came swiftly. Very good portion sizes and excellent views of the bridges. Can’t fault at all.

Very nice food, steaks are succulent and delicious albeit a little too rare for medium for my liking and a little over priced, but there is the stunning location. Calorie busting sundaes and a general overall good service.

Went here with my husband courtesy of my sister who had given us a voucher. It was very busy, but we were not rushed and the staff were very attentive. It was a little pricey, but the food was excellent and the portions exceedingly large. They do an absolutely delicious Cullen skink. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and got a great view of the bridges.

The food was divine, with a great steak and chips. Its service was slowish but we liked that, gave me and my family more time to talk. They were nice and my family all likes there food. The atmosphere was amazinf with the sea in the background, but it was covered with daddy longlegs on the walls covering the veiw. Overral this place was amazing!

I don't think you could have made my lunch date with my husband (phew I put the right name 😂) any more perfect than it was. I'm English he's Scottish and he ordered that Cullen soup stuff, I warned him that he wouldn't be kissed for the rest of the day, he ignored me and ordered the Cullen soup. It came and he said I was a whimp 😱 if I didn't try a tiny teaspoon of IT. Anyhow to shut him up as I'm no whimp (I'm from Middlesbrough originally 🥊🥊) I took up the death by soup challenge 🤢, and I it honestly was amazing and I don't think I would go more than 2 teaspoons in my entire life BUT it was beautiful and nothing like the smell left by the same soup in other places that I've created a fuss at when he's ordered it before Scotts. So thank for showing me that even when I'm 60 I can impress my husband and show him that after all these years together he will still never win as I'm a Boro girl at heart ♥️. PS everything was perfect.
