Tony Macaroni - Livingston in West Lothian

Not up to the normal standard. Pizza bases were burnt, and something about the tomato sauce was off - can’t put my finger on it but the taste was almost sour, like vinegar, with nothing sweet balancing that taste as you’d normally expect. Disappointing.

Tried this place 2 nights in a row while staying in the hotel next door. Although the first night was unpresidented due to a storm cutting power in the area. So it was rammed. The food is really good but the service is shocking. You can stand at an empty bar for 10+ minutes and be ignored. They put old food all over the bar. Under staffed all the time. Tables full of food not getting cleared away so wait times for tables. Some foreign staff who are very arrogant. Food is good but service is very poor.

Lasagna is mushy and tasteless and cold - penne arabiata far too spicy

Loved pasta and calamari rings. Definitely will order again. Only wished they had vegan cheese alternatives.

We had there a great, quick, and tasty lunch. Pizza and pasta, and you can't be wrong with that. Super value for money.

On first arrival the gentleman seating customers is obviously overstretched & hence was not welcoming, not blaming him but there were not enough staff in place to let them do their jobs properly. Long wait for drinks & ordering, the management need to give them a break & actually put more people on. When the food arrived the portion sizes with the exception of the Macaroni cheese was terrible, extra portions of garlic bread & chips were tiny as if the resturant was running out of food & the pasta served with the main dishes would have fit in a coffee cup. The food itself was edible & cooked properly but bland is the only word for it. Overall I wish we had given it a miss & will be sure not to go back.

Shocking service, left sitting for 40 minutes before taking drink orders, our party didn't receive the food together and the food wasn't eaten as it was below average, as for the staff, none of them spoke, smiled, everything just seemed like an effort, for spending £130 we will never be back.

We popped in for a quick dinner after work on Tuesday. We were served quickly, and the pizzas were delicious as was the tiramisu. Service was spot on too. Will definitely go back.

Having been here many occasions. We find that the quality of the food varies on different days. Haven't been dined in for the last 3/4 months. On this visit......... We found the pasta dishes lacking in seasoning. The lasagne has shrunk from the last time we ordered it. The carbonara not as creamy, less sauce The pizzas we ordered were good and had a nice chew to the base. The same standard that we are use to. I ordered the chicken in the spicy tomato sauce. Found the chicken was over cooked ,stringy and dry. The chips were a little under fried. The service was basic , not sure if that was due to the restaurant being quite busy. When our server approached our table with the Parmesan cheese he asked everyone who had a pasta dish if they would like cheese barr me. Not sure if it's not common to have it on the chicken tomato dish, but I have always been asked on my other visits. I had to get up from the table and ask another waiter for parmesan cheese as well as sauces for my chips . We were in an out in under an hour just for mains from 530pm Service charge has increased to 10% , prev it was 7.5%. And was automatically applied to our bill, and does not state that is optional like prev. Over all ok food, but service was meh

Food was lacking in flavour in both dishes and the focaccia was more like a stale pizza bread

Pesto pasta was disappointing as it tasted bland and the chicken was solid, as if cubed frozen chicken! I think the food is overpriced for what it is!

My son has been going here for years but we were left very disappointed. 6 of us put in a booth that was a tight squeeze. We asked to be moved and we were. Food was nothing special. Portions much smaller, not as warm as should have been and the dish my husband was served looked like it had been lying in a pot all day. The carbonara was bland and you had to hunt to find the pepperoni on the pizza. Offered a complementary desert as my husband hardly touched his dish. I tried it and it was disgusting. For a final bill that was nearly £200 it was frankly overpriced and completely underwhelming . Will not be back and would not recommend

We have been going to Tony Macaroni on a regular basis since it opened in Livingston. Perfect each and every time.I grew up in the Italian District of the Bronx, New York, USA and really know a good Italian meal when I get one. The pizza at Tony Macaroni is just like the pizza I was eating in the Bronx in the 1950’s, ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

Very poor meal, tasteless and by far the worst I’ve ever eaten

Tasteless. creamy pasta tasted just like cream had been poured over chicken and spinach. No build up of flavours. neither dish we got was seasoned either. Won't be ordering again.

Ordered from here before and it’s been really nice. Just finished a long shift at work and went to pick up the food. When I arrive home the cheesy garlic bread was underdone and had whole garlic cloves in it, very disappointed

Lovely ambience at Tony’s,excellent choice of wine and Food, very quick service for Food and Drink and the Staff are Superb.

Pizzas were 10/10, but the macaroni cheese was really tasteless and very watery.

Met up with family for a post Christmas lunch. The gent hosting was rather cold and disinterested, no please or thank you (a manager I think as he has been there a while) thankfully we were lucky enough he wasn’t serving us (would have been 5* but for him) Serviced by Jamie Lee, very friendly, helpful and professional. Ordered lunch and we all enjoyed our meals, all had desserts which were lovely. Then served by another female who I believe was also a manager and she was fantastic, so friendly and chatty. Would still return but the male manager seriously needs to be a bit friendlier to his customers

I loved the food, the portions were very good as well, and Nicola and Ross were nice enough to confirm that except the chicken wings any other chicken was halal, I just thought the portions of prawns in the risotto was not great. Overall great ambience, service and food!!

bolignase was tasteless, seems like they chef missed putting tomatoes in the sauce.

Always a great experience going for dinner here, staff are great and food is always to a high standard

There was cream cheese on both pasta dishes that should not have had cheese in them. Not ideal when cheese is an allergen. Calamari was cold, undercooked, and missing a dip. Focaccia was overcooked, burnt, and falling apart. Tomato and onion salad was mainly lettuce and only 4 rings of red onion and 5 tomato slices.

Wings were great but pasta was really that good

Lovely food. Myself and my wife popped in for a wee lunch and the food was lovely. She had a pasta dish and I had a burger. Staff were really nice too

Booked a table for 6 for a business Christmas lunch. Their website Demanded a £60 deposit which I had no issue with. On the day of our meal the food was good (despite the grizzle in my steak) and hot. Staff very friendly and professional. However when the bill came it was for the full amount, fortunately I remembered and challenged this. Server left and came back saying I had to prove this as they had no record of it. Fortunately I had my business credit card app on my phone and showed her this. She went away and came back saying she would need to take my phone to her boss to prove this as they couldn't find any record of this. I agreed although i felt this was wrong. Over five minutes later my phone was returned saying the amount had been deducted. I paid the balance in cash and was due change, she said she would bring this back then in the next breath thanked us for coming and never returned to our table. This further displeased me as the bill already had a service charge added to the bill. I will not return to this venue despite the many hard working staff who I thank but due to the management of the restaurant. I do not recommend the venue and will be filing a formal complaint with their head office.

A staple fall back for us if weve had a 'bad day in the office and cant be bothered cooking' Local, good choice, friendly staff, ticks lots of boxes...

there was no pate on my brechietta , i only had garlic bread with onions

Lasagna was barely edible unfortunately. Microwaved within an inch of its life.

Food was good as was the service

Terrible, We arrived and waited to be seen at reception. Waitress came over then said, be with you in a min, she then ignored us. Guy comes over and asked if we had booked, i said no, he the said take a seat. He then made no effort to arrange a seat. Original waitress then made eye contact, i asked if there was any tables free, she said follow me, to which we did, then she says can you go back and take a seat. We just walked out. I told other customers arriving not to bother. Terrible set up!

Lovely family run Italian eatery. Good choice of food and can taylor most options to GF.

The food didn’t taste anything like it should. Distinct taste of soap on both our meals.

Had lunch in Livingston today 29 October 2024. There was my husband and I and a friend. I'm in a wheelchair, they kindly respected my desire to sit in a quiet area (not set up for lunch). Happily took our orders and the chefs produced a delicious feast for us. Our friend and myself had the pollo funghi and my husband had the dish of the day, a spicy chicken thigh burger. Three meals were from the Presto Menu. We all greatly enjoyed our meal and will return soon. Thanks to the whole team for a superb lunch...

The food was yummy as always. Pasta a mocktail and ice cream sundee.

This is 2nd time we have had an order from Tony macaroni and the garlic bread was burnt we could not eat it it was black and very hard so disappointed that this has happened again

Service appauling, we thought we'd get a drink first as got there early to find a parking space. That was the first issue, not enough parking, being disabled parking is nightmare. Then hubby stood at bar for 15 minutes to try get a drink, no staff... Female saw him stood there and hid round the other side, she obviously didn't want to have to serve us 🤬 Hubby had to go walk round to try to find someone to serve us a drink, either shut the bar, or staff it!!! Food was good, service slow in restaurant and trying to pay the bill took nearly 25 mins. Definitely gone downhill from our last visit.

I had asked the restaurant if they could do a vegetable linguini arribiatta for me. I was NOT disappointed it was excellent !! Thank you for this. It is going to be my order from now on.

Food came hot.I enjoyed burger but macaroni didn’t have much flavour or seasoning.

Came for engagement dinner with my partner, pasta is lovely and had mozzarella sticks for starters which were absolutely lovely. Came in and seated right away, servers were excellent too, food served quickly. Highly recommend

Very average Lasagne now there's hardly any minced beef in it or many layers of pasta mostly mushy sauce and cheese 👎☹️

I came here with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, we had an amazing time. We have time to enjoy the food, laugh, and enjoy our evening. We will come back again to dine.

Nice evening with the family for my daughter’s birthday. Food and service were good. Lovely server called Clare was very nice.

I am not one to complain however I ordered Garlic Chips & was surprised to open a box of chips with a big pink lump of what I’m assuming is garlic paste on top of my chips (not even bothered mixing it in??!) it was completely inedible

Food not cooked properly!! Ordered lasagna and chips, the lasagna looked like dog food was under cooked and freezing cold!!! And the chips were half cooked!!!

Had better microwave meals, no taste apart from garlic in the carbonara, macaroni had very little cheese.

In for the lunch offer, good size portions. Carbonara tasted ok.

2 adults and 2 children- we had the Sunday menu which is excellent value. The children’s menu was very good and food was very well received - ham and cheese pizza and tomato pasta followed by ice cream - smashed it! Great starters - cheese stuffed mushrooms with crispy coating and chicken strips in a light basil and pesto batter. Then a spicy sausage and prawn pasta in tomato sauce and a delicious carbonara pasta with courgettes and goats cheese. Great service and friendly staff - cannot fault it.

This place has gone downhill. Member of staff who showed us to our table was disinterested and just dumped the menus on the table. Several other members of staff were also disinterested, rude and unpleasant. Service was slow and food was cold

The garlic bread was dry and crispy, the arribatta was worst ive ever tasted, very greasy and had cheese on top which wasn't on menu. Pizza was ok. Worst meal ever ordered from there.

ordered the macaroni and the Bolognese. it wasn't very good. they were both pretty bland and not good.

Why take Nduja, black pepper and paprika off the extra pizza toppings list? Those were the 3 things I always added to the pollo picante.

Both Pizzas very sloppy and way too much cheese and hardly any pepperoni. Needed cooked more. Second time they been like this so time to find another restaurant I think.

Will not return here now. Left a note on the order to ask for the burger to be plain and called to confirm this once order was placed was told that was fine. Ordered arrived and was not plain (son will not eat) phoned up and spoke to someone extremely rude who basically made this out to be no issue, said they would sent a burger tomorrow as they are closing! Then ended up hanging up on me. Rest of order was Cold and inedible, clearly in a rush to close for the night.

Ordered after we were let down elsewhere - pizza was amazing! Delivered correctly and on time!

Claire literally couldn’t be more helpful, table of 5 kids under 13 and 2 under 3, pretty stressful anytime all go out but genuinely didn’t feel like anything was a bother to the staff. So reasonable priced and lovely chilled family atmosphere. Need to make effort of going more often! Thank you again ❤️

The company was brilliant thanks the lady on service was very attentive and explained the menu's very well sharer was over priced wrong main was delivered but quickly rectified lasagne was stodgy and very sauce oriented with very little meat content

Dined from the Sunday menu as we were a party of 3. The Sunday menu is great value for money. However, it does restrict your choices slightly, and if you'd like extras, you do need to pay extra. I've dined and taken away food from this location on many occasions and have found that it can be a hit or miss depending on the day. The presentation of some dishes were quite lack lustre, and we found that they've cut back on portions and quantity of ingredients on the plate, eg, no side salad garnish and shrinking the sizes of elements of dishes. We also found that dishes have been on the blander side, which is alright since you can add your own seasoning. However, I'd prefer if the dishes were already seasoned well before serving, but this is just me being picky. Recently, the prices have gone up, but again, quantity and quality seem to have dipped slightly in recent times. The staff were, however, kind and welcoming, and the restaurant had a good vibrant and atmosphere, it was pretty busy, but we were able to get seated no problem without a reservation.

Took about 30 mins to come take our drinks order after sitting us down. Also had to ask to change tables as there are ALOT of fruit flies hoovering about. Did help once moved but still had to swipe away a few every so often. There inferno sauce was nothing apart from a thick sundried tomato sauce with olives mixed threw it!!! Like what the hell is that? Why has a hot sauce got olives in it?? No table check back so couldn't ask for an alternative. Overall the meal was okay.. Wouldn't hurry back tho

Left hanging for too long waiting to be seated with no acknowledgement. Finally approached by a man who clearly couldn't be bothered to be there to be told it would be a half an hour wait for a table - the place was empty. Went over to the Outlets for food instead.

Very disappointed with the mac and cheese, no way it had 4 cheeses in it as it was very bland, the huge brownie was pleasing just a shame about the main course, not what i expect as normally lovely

Had delivery of 2 pizzas and garlic chips absolutely disgusting chips were hard and half cooked. Pizzas were greasy at base and box was also greasy.absolute disgrace.think you're so called dedicated Italian chefs need retrained. Never ever again

I haven’t been to Tony macaroni in a long time so was excited to go back as I always loved the food here and was never disappointed. I ordered pesto pasta with a crispy chicken breast. It didn’t look the same as before and I have ordered this dish a few times in the past, it looked and tasted quite oily. Soon after we got the bill and I felt awful, we left and I got in the car and had to get my friend to pull over as I was violently sick! Will never get this dish again and I will think twice now about going back. It’s definitely went down hill since my last visit.

Been to numerous Tony Macaroni's in Scotland but this has to be the worst one, where do we start, staff are unwelcoming and unfriendly with an absolute stinking attitude, the girl who served us rolled her eyes couple of times, when taking our order, she definitely shouldn't be in the public sector, weird though cause she acted differently to other customers, food was average at best, chicken strips were more batter than chicken and bland, along with a couple of pieces of old watercress or whatever, seat was broken that sitting on, when informed waitress she done nothing, correct thing would be offer to move us but nope, burger tasted burnt rather than flame grilled and to top off the excellent service the guy didn't even return with change when says would, it wasn't much but its principal considering they already charge you £10 service charge, I find this rude and unacceptable, 100% would not go back anytime soon especially after spending nearly £100 for dinner 👎

Meal for family of 5. Delicious. No complaints. Service was good. Recommended if your in livingston and wanting something decent to eat thats not fast food.

the food came really quickly, however the food portions have become really small for the amount you pay and unfortunately my order was very bland and greasy on this occasion. I'm usually always really pleased with the quality of the food but this time I wouldn't rate it.

Ordered penne polo picante and Mac cheese at 15.40 courier on way at 15.50 delivery arrived 15.55 ! That was my concerns raised immediately, worst takeaway I’ve ever had penne DRENCHED in oil and cheese sauce so runny it didn’t even stick to the pasta , I’ve had better pasta from chippies never mind an Italian restaurant, the chips and garlic bread were fine though , a waste of £35 but at least the birds 🦅 enjoyed it ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING

I went out for dinner last night and got the lasagne, then spent then rest of the night with food poisoning. I hadn’t eaten anything else since the morning so I’m certain it was the food here that was off. The lasagne itself was pretty bland, so it’s safe to say I won’t be returning again.

Placed my order around 19:00, it’s 21:20 and food still not here , I m still waiting.

very bad quality, ordered from here a few times with no issues but recently went right down hill, small pizzas, bland pasta and bland garlic bread. very disappointed, just wasted £50

Came in for a drink while waiting to check into the travel lodge. Initially did not get a warm welcome when the server found out we were just in for drinks just pointed over there and walked off quickly as possible. Took a while to be served drinks and staff didn’t seem to know or want to help at all, asked what wine they recommended “I don’t really know, probably this one” When asked about gluten free options for dinner that evening the server who I assume must have been bar staff just shrugged I don’t know pasta definitely but ask the server, you’d go find out surely or send food staff over to discuss? Table was sticky too. Didn’t go back for food and wouldn’t recommend.

First impressions when we went in met with a very frosty man told can’t sit here seating over there drinks only . Was going to come back for food asked about gluten free options told could get pasta and I asked if we could get pizza to be told don’t know check with your server . Staff did not look happy at all. Could not wait to leave not happy at all .
