First time visiting the Fork and Field as I'm from out of town. Read reviews before visiting and decided to give it a go! We were warmly greeted and taken to our table even though it was busy and we had not booked, the girls managed to squeeze us in! We were recommended the steak pie and it did not disappoint! My partner got the battered fish. Both meals came out in good time even though it was busy. The food was amazing and portion sizes were very generous! The girls that were serving us (didn't catch their names) were friendly and welcoming and I loved their recommendation!!! Every restaurant kn the world has a few bad reviews but nobody is perfect! But I would 100% recommend the Fork and Field! I'll definitely be back on my next visit to the area!

Food and service was extremely poor. Suspected food poisoning for two members of the party (full review on TripAdvisor). Took around 2 hours to get our meals out and when it did come, the order was wrong. Would not recommend!

We had a fantastic meal, and the staff were so very friendly. Although we couldn't move afterwards as we were so full! We will most certainly be going back again.

Staff were lovely and service was good. Sadly my chicken burger was luke warm, whilst my friends steak pie was steaming! Food was tasty enough, but should have had the fajitas.

A group of us booked Sunday dinner at short notice. Katie and the team looked after us really well and the food was brilliant. A proper Sunday roast to be proud of.

Food was excellent, with very good portion sizes. Staff were lovely and welcoming, would recommend and would definitely go back.

The service was the worst ever you girl on her phone constantly .Eventually the food arrived 3 tables not what I would call a busy lunch time. Drinking glasses were absolutely filthy asked for a replacement twice asked for a drink twice. Food was ok. Service just really let the place down 3rd time I’ve tried it last chance won’t be back.

No fish on a Friday! This was disappointing and there were no apples to do the pudding. We were told that they were still waiting for fish supplies to come in.

Really nice place and great service! Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and as it was one of our groups birthday they got their meal for free, which we had no idea about but the waitresses were more than happy to inform us of :)

Loved the place. Purely visited when looking for a dog friendly restaurant when shopping locally. Staff were fantastic from entering until leaving paying particular attention to our fur baby. The food was excellent and hit the spot after a day of retail therapy. Would certainly go again if in the area.

Lovely place & great service, very disappointed with the food though. I ordered mac n cheese with pulled pork ADD ON, the pork was mixed through the macaroni ruining the whole meal. It should have been called a 'mix through' or an 'instead of'...! Absolutely horrible mixed together.

Good food, good selection of beers, wines and cocktails and friendly staff. The interior is fresh and has free parking. Service was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for us.

Very kind and smiling waiter. Nice decor. Very clean room and toilets. Since the beginning of my journey through Scotland, I have wanted to taste Haggis. That said, I was afraid I wouldn't like it. Fork and Field offers a starter consisting of, among other things, haggis, which allowed me to taste it and find that I liked it. I had the Angus Burger. Personally, I didn't really like it. Be careful, I'm not saying it wasn't good. I'm just saying it wasn't to my taste as the meat was very different from what I expected. However, the bread was really good. Thank you for your welcome.

We had part 1 of our engagement party here and were very excited to show our Irish family the best restaurant for miles. There were 14 of us, so we all had each of everything on the menu. Delicious food as always and excellent drinks!

I went here with a friend who has been here many times and raved about the food, and can I say the food didn’t disappoint I had soup lentil and bacon and it was beautiful very filling and 100% home made and warming to the core. I followed this up with braised beef cheeks. Again perfect the meat fell apart when as soon as my fork touched it. All round a five star meal and great service lovely atmosphere. I will be back. Good place for lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, pleasant service, food cooked to order and tasty. Went on a Monday, other diners in buy no real rush to vacate table.

I’m writing this review so hopefully the owner can read it and make improvements to the restaurant. We were seated but weren’t told what the sunday special was, nor the soup of the day. It took over 15 minutes for someone to come over. Steak pie at £19 odd was very disappointing. Veg was dry and difficult to cut through. When this was mentioned to the blonde waitress when the plates were being cleared, she wasn’t empathetic to the feedback. When we mentioned about deducting an amount from the bill, her response was “we didn’t deduct anything from the bill because this was mentioned during the meal”. I found that response pretentious and void of any understanding of customer service skills. When a place like this has to rely on local customers, it can quite quickly lose more customers through word of mouth. Unfortunately I doubt we will be back again.

We had delicious food but the service was dreadful. Through no fault of the staff there was one waitress and one on the bar, with a full restaurant and bar. Waited 45 mins for a drink and although asked for sauces water etc never received. Took 2.5 hours to get to end of main course. Extra staff arrived that were not meant to be on shift, but no manager or owner in sight! Won’t be going again!

I visited this place during a weekend visit from Wales and I must say how pleased I was! The service and front of house where very accommodating and food was on point. Honestly one of the best steak meals I've had in a long long time and that really is something! 5*

First time in here under new management. To be honest I was blown away with the whole thing. Fantastic vibe lovely music and ver comfortable dining. Food was delicious and very well presented Tasty and worth every penny. We felt very relaxed and transported to another era

Welcoming and Pet friendly ! Out with the family, Had our well behaved wee westie turned away by another so called pet friendly inn. Found the Fork&Field. Rustic, relaxed ,friendly pub atmosphere and the beef patty burger meal was delicious. Well recommended. We will be back 👍

Lovely food, fajitas were really good. Lots of flavour. Service was great and people serving were friendly.

Nice pub with plenty of space for a group. Good walks along the river start or end here.

Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, and the wood burning stove is great for a chilly day. Tasty Mac'n'Cheese and a good range of burgers and salads. Well worth a visit.

Went for a meal with our future son-in-law's parents. The evening was really lovely, the food and staff were superb. The pub is dog friendly. Well priced and excellent quality. Highly recommended.

Fork & Field in Mid Calder serves incredible food with top-tier service, making it a must-visit restaurant.

Came here for my birthday dinner. The staff were so kind and friendly and I had the best lamb I've eaten this year. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed

Good pub with a decent choice of beers. I had salmon, which was unfortunately quite overdone; fine dining it’s not, but my mother-in-law fair enjoyed her macaroni cheese.

Great place to come for a delicious meal 😋 I had the salmon it was perfect. Staff are friendly and attentive. Inches cider on tap was fab 👌 they have a great cocktail list here too! This is my 2nd visit in 2 months. I would love to come back again soon 🥰

Lovely staff. Friendly. Tables are wooden with carved grooves which have crumbs and food in. Lettuce brown/black edged. Mains good quality steak pie and fish. Veg supplier needs changed! We'll give it a while before trying again. Again staff nice.

Just back from here service VERY poor, slow, ordered a couple of drinks and they forgot about us still didn't get the order, not a place I could recommend very disappointed

We have been loads of time, but this visit was not great, a beetle in my sisters salad. A fish full of bones, slow service, a man and woman in the ladies toilets in a cubicle doing something they shouldn't. The menu is disappointing no decent chicken or pork dish.

Not great. We had sharing nachos which were awful. Burnt cheese, hard tortillas and dark green watery sludge for avocado. Didn’t try it , it looked disgusting. Returned and asked to be taken off the bill. Mains were ok, fish and chips were nice enough. The Cajun chicken burger was a nice piece of chicken but had no spice/heat. Drinks not great either wine and Soda served in a gin balloon.! Bad show guys you’re not cheap but you need to get the basics right. We may have hit a bad night (Saturday early evening) it was moderately busy. One bright spot was the nice wee girl who served us. Left shy of 10% for the waitress not the food.

Had a brilliant night for dinner with friends. We went for the pub quiz which was a great laugh and great atmosphere. The food was lovely. I'd highly recommend it.

Lovely little place to visit. We had been looking for somewhere we could take our dog in with us and this place didn’t disappoint! Friendly staff, absolutely lovely food and amazing with our dog! We will be back!

Staff on entry wasn't the happiest guy. Roast was fatty and overdone, steak was tough as boots. Dessert was lovely. Waitress was nice.

We enjoyed a quiet drink , staff were pleasant and courteous. We did not have a meal but many others were enjoying their menu.

Really nice meal, a bit expensive for a little village though. Only one server was in and she was rushed off her feet but she was very nice and apologetic about the slower service. Steak pie could have done with a bit more steak in it.

Went in thinking it was another type of Wetherspoon's and was pleasantly surprised, excellent atmosphere, food cooked fresh none of that heat up in the oven rubbish, will definately make it my go to place!

Nice place. Friendly staff. Parking on site. Good menu. Tasty food Keep forgetting to write this update... Returned for 3rd time with a group of friends on 11th February for Saturday lunch. Still a nice place and Friendly staff, when the food arrived most of it was tasty. However they seemed unable to cope with such a large group. We waited almost 2 hours from arrival till food was served, they probably wanted to serve the whole table together but some food arrived and then we sat and watched the fish a chips sitting on the pass for ages whilst the chef hunted down lemon wedges!! Some of the fried food was greasy. Bits and pieces missing from orders, I had the steak pie and it was huge but tasteless! Lots of meat and watery gravy. No onion or veg in pie. Disappointing! Several of us ordered sundaes. Mine was practically melted by time I got it. Sorry but it will take some persuasion for me to come back.

Nice venue with hearty pub food.

The staff were very welcoming.The food was awful greasy fish placed on top of chips which were just warm.When the waitress asked how was the meal I told her and she said very sorry.

Had a fantastic meal with the family here. The roast beef was out of this world! Kids menu was good and the size of the meal was fabulous. The only down side was the place was cold. However it is very open plan so I guess hard to heat. Over all would definitely go back ❤️

Quaint pub trying that little bit too hard to be a country inn. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Not the largest dining area so I recommend booking as there's not many tables but this also adds to the service experience. Very well looked after. Kids menu is also excellent.

A beautiful place to have a meal. Very spacious and tables are a good bit apart so you have your own space. Decor is lovely and not to bright. Service was great. Staff attentive and nothing was a bother for them. Only downside was the temperature. The air felt cold so don't wear short sleeves. Thank you for a lovely evening. Definitely a 9/10. Highly recommended.

The food in this restaurant is tastless due to been sitting in hot oven .or has been reheated the pastry on the pie was poor and filling tastless .the fozen chips cooked far too much .and brownies was good taste but very small portion. The only thing was good was the wine and the waiter who was on his own . Sad was looking forward to a nice meal 😕

It was just OK! Waited a while for food. starter wasn't great, chilli jam was just a dip, was hoping it was homemade, steak pie was nice, veg cold. I wouldn't rush back. My daughter enjoyed her risotto.

Great food at a very reasonable price. Excellent service in a cosy and hospitable environment. I had the Smoked BBQ Pork Chops, which were very tasty. Highly recommended.

Had great night here fir cocktails spoke to bar tender an was more than happy to make drinks that were not on menu an they were delicious an lovely spot out back for sitting enjoying the sun

I'm hard to please, ask my partner,. Although at first I thought the menu was on the slightly high side for pub grub, once I got my meal I was quite happy to pay them, my partner got steak and ale pie, and said for once he could taste it was cooked in ale, service was friendly also, Will probably return, don't say that much nowadays around West Lothian.

Have visited on several occasions with friends. Always a great time, never a disappointment. The food is fantastic, however, on our most recent visit we only indulged in their cocktails. Truly delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff are super friendly also.

Beef shank was very nice and tender, but the roast beef on top was tough and pink not to my liking, 2 slices of veg was poor not enough potatoes,. Staff were very nice, couldn't believe when i saw dogs coming in. Health and hygiene comes to mind.

Not as good as The Torph. Once was.

Myself and my children popped into this little gem and in all honesty we could not rate it enough. We all thought very highly of Fork and Field. We ordered of both the lunch and dinner menu as this was given to us as an option due to the time we arrived, which was fantastic as most places would not allow this 😁. I like a lighter meals so the lunch menu suited me to a T and my children ordered off the kids dinner menu. Everything was delicious and tasty, also presentation was on point! Additionaly, both my children said it was the 'best place ever' and 'we will be back here again'. This little pub/restruant is beautiful inside and out, it has a homely yet luxurious feel to it but not only this, it also has the most amazing food, staff and is great value for money. It is just utterly fabulous and an all round winner in our books. Even our server Amie was so lovely, kind and thoughtful whilst serving us she was attentive towards my children 👏👌. If anyone is looking for a nice little place to eat out for lunch/dinner definatly try this place and do leave the staff a little tip as they realy are an amazing bunch and are doing a fabulous job. Thank you for having us Fork and Field and special thanks to Amie we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and meal 🍽 😋

Lovely old building with car park at side and furnished with some quirky designs and features. Pleasant and friendly staff providing great service. Varied menu with a selection of options made freshly to order, food was served quickly and was really good! Very reasonably priced for the quality received and definitely somewhere to remember on our next business visit.

Had a couple of beers. Nice beer, city prices. Ate here in both of its previous incarnations: seriously unimpressed, but maybe it'll be better now. Hope so, because a great restaurant would be good for the village: La Vita, Kushi's, the Bull are already good, hopefully F&F can join them.
