Rocpool Restaurant

Inverness Central, Highland
16/12/2018: We ate here and found the food very good , faultless . The noise level was high , no atmosphere and so very clostrafobic . The seating is far far too close together .It would seem that the tables are packed in for as many services possible . To this end I would not recommend it . The drinks are extortionate at nearly £10 for a glass of wine , no not in any sense of the word value for money .
16/12/2018: Had lunch there and was outstanding. I had the scallops and venison and couldn't fault either. The staff was great and restaurant had a lovely feel to it.

Inverness Central, Highland
13/12/2018: Visited for the set lunch which offered great value and a real hearty feed. The set lunch consisted of a Mixed Meze which is excellent fresh and tasty, then a choice of mains I always opt for the Chicken kebab which is superb . Then there is a choice of sweet which I normally cannot have due to not having any room . A great place, give it a are always made to feel welcome and A valued customer.
12/12/2018: We have visited Aspendos on many occasions over the years and still come to the same conclusion - it's the best restaurant in Inverness! Prompt, attentive, friendly service and excellent, tasty food - what more do you want!

Greens Market Restaurant

Tain and Easter Ross, Highland, >100£
17/12/2018: Excellent food and atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff were superb from initial contact ,where they asked for and special dietary requirements, to arrival, where they knew that we had a vegetarian and another with gluten and dairy intolerance. They expertly advised what was suitable on the menu and what could be adapted. The whole experience was great, and we will be back
12/12/2018: Our first forays onto the delightful Tain high street have risen to a level of unexpected style and cool classifieds ... all thanks to the wonderful oasis of brilliance that is Greens. From the warm greetings of its friendly waiting staff to the impressive menu - even the simplest tea or coffee order is stylishly served - everything at Greens says “style” (even the very posh loos!)

Lochside Restaurant

Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Highland
04/12/2018: We stayed with the Iles of Glencoe on our tour through Scotland. My partner found this cute little hotel at a reasonable price and we weren't disappointed.
13/11/2018: Stayed here for two nights last week, paid a little extra for a superior room which was brilliant. Fresh contemporary decor and furnishings, warm and cosy and quiet (327). Decent sized room also equipped with bunk beds screened off from the main room so ideal for a family. Also has its own tv above the top bunk.

Kirkwall West and Orphir, Orkney Islands
20/11/2018: I visited in when the Cafe was (temporarily? newly?) situated in the Strynd. It's pretty much a cafe in an old living room. Very quirky. Tables are pretty close together. Service was warm and friendly, haggis paninni was amazing, coffee and cake of a high standard. Would certainly go back.
16/11/2018: This quirky little cafe is situated at the bottom of the Strynd, just off the end of Albert Street. There is a great selection of hot drinks, home bakes, filled rolls, soups etc. Table Service was quick and friendly.

Lime Tree

Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Highland, >100£
13/11/2018: Fusion food at its best, absolutely amazing food and excellent service for our meal last night. If you come in season I would guess you have to book ahead. Loved the drink recommendations for each meal and tried the amazing Romanian Pinot Noir, which was a delight.
13/11/2018: This small well placed hotel is homely, intriguing, beautifully furnished and has wonderful staff. Food and drink were excellent, and the whole experience was relaxed warm and comforting. Great value for money.

Elgin City South, Moray, 20-30£
06/11/2018: You cannot beat the service and food of this restaurant. Opened in the late 80’s but still the best.
03/11/2018: Cautious eater here enjoying a few days with a Scottish friend in his home town. Friday night is end of week, went here with work colleagues of his for a regular curry. It was busy as his usual place was closed for a week undergoing building work. Five of us there. I passed on the starter and no fish for Bry so made do with onion bargii. I had lamb tikka targii which was a new on for me but a nice 'thick' curry on the medium hot side. Mango Lassi was essential, small or large sir? This was a pleasant surprise, I was served a latte coffee in one Indian. Staff very good 2 pilau rice for our table was no problem. After the food was bought they quickly removed the serving plates. Well the five of us were on a bay of 4. The menu has chicken whatever but generally a lamb option was available. I know young things obsess about chicken but most Indians layout the menu as X with chicken or lamb. This cautious eater was worried for a while. We accidentally got pakora Nann but I was stuffed! Friends liked their meals too.

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
17/10/2018: What a great place, located on the top floor above the royal hotel bar. The pizzas are amazing. Friendly staff especially the main waiter from Glasgow. I went for the Hebridean pizza. Haggis, black pudding and caramelised onions, I added sausage too. It was amazing. Diassopinted we didn’t get time to pay it a second visit..
17/10/2018: Disappointing overall. When arrived had to wait in doorway for several mins even tho not busy. Male manager was surly bordering on rude, c lil early diners are an inconvenience. Two waitresses were sweet and tried to make up for their manager.

No 1 Bistro

Wick, Highland
01/12/2018: The restaurant provides good quality food at reasonable prices. Fresh bread was provided at the table. We went straight for the main course. I had the fish and chips - it was haddock that was fresh and tasty. The portion of chips and peas that accompanied the fish was smaller than I would have expected. My companion had a steak that he was very happy with, though the sauce that accompanied it was in a tiny pot, there wasn't nearly enough sauce for the size of steak. We both had the lemon tart with creme fraiche ice cream. Both the tart and the ice cream were very well made and were delicious, but it was served on a bed of chocolate crumb. The crumb was completely unnecessary; it was almost as if the chef didn't believe the tart and ice cream were good enough on their own. They were more than good enough.
30/11/2018: Quite a hard job to find a good restaurant in the city until you discover the N°1 Bistro !

The Clifton

Heldon and Laich, Moray
12/10/2018: We went there as a few people recommended us to try it and what a disappointment it was. My husbands steak was over cooked my kid both had the kids chicken goujons and the you could have squeezed the grease out of them , I had the macoroni and it was totally disgusting as it had no taste at all as it was just like watt pasta with a bit of cheese on top I left the whole lot as one fork full was enough for me yuk , the family at table next to us said there macoroni was the same but they popped lots of tomato sauce on there’s to give it a bit of taste as the kids where hungry as the waited quite a while for it to come . I said excuse me to the guy that works there 3 times when he passed and he just ignored me as needed a straw for my wee girl . When leaving Both I And the other family complained and the supervisor / manager I think she said she was shocked as she said the macoroni normally is one of there best sellers . She also said she is good at remembering a face so if we come back again she will sort us out with a discount. . Defo won’t be back
26/09/2018: Stopped for lunch today, and though the food was excellent. Boss had Cullen Skink, I had a cheese, bacon and fried onion sandwich - both perfect. Very friendly staff too.

BEST WESTERN Lochardil House Hotel Restaurant

Inverness Ness-Side, Highland
11/11/2018: Wonderful check-in hours - lovely room, breakfast and exceptional staff. Clean, neat, tidy. Beautiful garden surrounding breakfast room. Would definitely stay there again!
09/10/2018: We had a family dinner in the Conservatory; the service was excellent, the food superb and the ambience generated by the friendly, attentive staff made for a most enjoyable evening.

The Imperial Restaurant

Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Highland
08/11/2018: I’d seen the Imperial for many years but had never been in. It’s a stalwart of this grand Highland town. Not changing much on the outside. The reception area is fine, excellent toilets which is always a bonus. The bar is really cosy and compact. It had a steady flow of residents and blow ins like myself. The girls were efficient and friendly. Good beer and reasonably priced too will secure this a return visit next time I’m this far north again.
28/10/2018: a repeat visit, enjoyed a smashing meal which we chose from their different menus, enjoyed it in the bar, lovely people helping and serving - just wish they'd turn the sound on the TV down, or even off when it's quiet

The Culbokie Inn

Black Isle, Highland
16/12/2018: Disappointing meal. Looked like meat from the Deli counter. Table not set properly - no table cloth, table mats or side plates! Sorry, but I expect this when eating out. Especially at Christmas.
11/11/2018: A saturday night and we thought we'd try the Culbokie Inn.

Cafe Fika

Forres, Moray
02/12/2018: Been meaning to review here for a while as it has been consistently good on each trip and each person I have taken has enjoyed the experience. Don’t come expecting the same thing that every other coffee shop offers - come here for something a little different - home cooked bakes, soup and quiche with a menu that changes daily.
25/09/2018: if you want an excellent simple coffee and delicios home made cakes, this is the place. The owners are very gentle and reserved people. I really enjoy to stay here, you feel very comfortable. The products offered are not many, so you may not make mistake, what ever they have is just good and genuine. Vegan and organic friendly.

Admirals Inn

Buckie, Moray
03/12/2018: A very good meal followed by an excellent band, thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Well done to the chef and waiting staff.
02/12/2018: Not one to make a comment, credit when credit is due. The whole night from enterence-meal-entertainment was spot on. Throughly enjoyed by all, 5* rating.
