Greens Market Restaurant in Highland

We booked online for a party of 14 and revived a very quick response and confirmation. The atmosphere and service was great, the food however was absolutely spectacular. The specials of scallops were enjoyed by a lot of my colleagues and the tuna with tempura prawns were absolutely fantastic. The kitchen was also able to cater for my colleague who is gluten free and they also enjoyed their meal!

This was a great spot for lunch after exploring Tain and walking round the Links. The restaurant was very welcoming and the staff lovely. The food was really good, fresh, home cooked and a big portion. I'd happily recommend.

Excellent beautifully cooked meal. Relaxed friendly and attentive staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our wee night out and would highly recommend Greens. This restaurant never disappoints!

A little more to offer for lunch than the usual fare locally, so difficult to choose. Opted for the delicious goats cheese, beetroot and orange salad. Hot chocolate was lovely and chocolatey. Friendly staff. Closes at 3pm. We will definitely be back

Our Guide brought us to this marvelous eatery in beautiful downtown Tain. What s wonderful lunch. We had delicious, authentic Cullen Skink (my new favorite), King Prawn & Chorizo Risotto, Homemade Quiche w/chips and Goats cheese & beetroot salad. Everything was very very good but nothing beat the service we received from the sweet Gayle U. Sorry for forgetting to snap some pics. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We received a friendly welcome at Greens and had an excellent evening. The cocktails were delicious and well presented. My husband particularly enjoyed his calamari, mango and chilli starter. My Lobster Thermidor was delicious and superb value. It was so good that we would have visited again the next evening if they had been open! Definitely worth dining here if visiting Tain - just check the opening hours in advance.

Had a delicious meal here where we had the mussels, seafood cocktail and lobster. It was all beautifully presented and nailed the flavours. The mussel sauce was the best we have ever had.

One of the best dishes I had so far. Unfortunately they did not give me the recipe for the red wine souce on the duck breast.

Called in to Greens today for a coffee . I decided to have a raspberry and white chocolate scone and it was one of the best scones l have ever had . Highly recommended.

Stopped off and found this quaint , warm coffee shop with a real log burner, we had 2 coffees and 2 scones with butter and jam. The scones were still warm which were delicious and coffee was nice too.

Went to Greens for the first time last night. Travelled through from the Black Isle and, it did not disappointed. The meal was delicious and the staff were so attentive and friendly. I will be recommending this to my friends!

Es gibt nicht so viele Restaurants in Tain, aber das Greens ist sehr exquisit. Ich war mit meinem Sohn und wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Sehr gute Speisekarte mit Tages specials, angenehm kleiner Speiseraum, aufmerksamer Service, so wünscht man sich das!

Absolutely amazing food, incredibly accommodating for dietary requirements. Great size portions. Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Rather busy when we dropped in without reservations for lunch which seemed to slow the service a little. An interesting menu with a mix of traditional and some more fusion dishes. It's a little bit pricey but worth it for the quality. Staff were charming and welcoming.

We became aware of Greens by chance while we were passing through. Excellent food and attentive, courteous service - highly recommended. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Stunning decor and a very friendly team - nothing is too much trouble. We stopped for coffee and cake and browsed the dinner menu which looks excellent. Very good understanding of intolerances. Great quality coffee, and just a lovely place to while away an hour. Recommended.

We went here on our overnights stay in Tain. The people greeted us very friendly and we had a nice table at the window. The food was really good and tasteful. We came in only for a main course but we were tempted to choose a dessert which did not disappoint. It’s not the cheapest place but the service and food are very good!

Well placed family restaurant, with fresh baked, on the premises, scones and cakes. I would recommend the Cullen Skink ( fish soup)

My wife and I had lunch whilst on holiday in the area. Lovely restaurant with a very good menu with a number of specials. The food was very good and the staff very friendly and attentive. It was a very good experience and we would highly recommend.

I have been three time to this restaurant and only once did I slightly enjoy the experience. The first time I found the service to be diabolical, my sister specifically asked for the sauce to be on the side, we were told that wouldn’t be a problem. It was served with the spicy sauce poured over the monkfish scampi. I asked for it to be replaced, which they did. However, we were charged for both the meals…. The second time the service was acceptable, if you have low standards as there seemed to be an atmosphere, in that no one was particularly enjoying their job??? plus, my soup was lukewarm. However, the third time was last September, we came in for two soups and one tea and scones. The staff that served us were friendly and all was going well, until the older lady came in to work. I left earlier and paid the bill, left a good tip. When my sister and friend left, the older (my age ish) lady with the short hair……. ran down the high street shouting at them….. YOU HAVEN’T PAID YOUR BILL!!! Aggressive and rude!!!! My sister pointed out that the bill had been paid by me… she should have checked with her colleagues surely before jumping to such a conclusion…. my sisters friend can barely walk, so it’s not like they were young hooligans doing a runner…. Anyway… rather than apologise and admit she made a mistake…. She just walked away….. RUDE!!!!

The food we had was lovely and the coffee perfect. It was hot and cooked right through, so it does not appear to have been microwaved but properly prepared. Service was friendly and professional, and our needs catered to with a quiet efficiency. The ambience was calm and relaxed but not laid back. So, thus far, all was good. But it was not accessible. We had gone through the town centre looking for somewhere to park as my walking is very limited, and found a disabled space, so we stopped. Across the road was a bakers "tea room," but as far as we could tell, the tea room had been closed for a while, so we went to the Greens. Give the staff their due, they couldn't have been more helpful, but there were 2 steps to get in, and I struggled with them. But the food and coffee were really good. But then came the toilet. Upon asking, I found out it was up another 3 steps! I barely made it and had to stay in there for several minutes after I had finished to stop shaking. The staff were once again very apologetic. Apparently, the owner of the building is refusing to make any changes. Unfortunately, the DDA and the Equality Duty apply just as much in Tain as anywhere else! Such a shame considering how nice the staff were.

Visited for our wedding anniversary lunch. Warmly welcomed by the staff who were attentive throughout without being intrusive. Several vegetarian options. Our meals were delicious, beautifully presented and the portion size was just right. So lucky to have Greens so close to home. Thank you all!

First called in for cake and coffee, it was delightful and the staff were very welcoming. Decided to book dinner for my wife as a surprise. Glad I did, the food was excellent. The mushroom soup was one of the best I've tasted. My wife had chicken milanese , I had king prawn chorizo linguini. Fabulous, hats off to the chef it was just perfect. I could not believe the amount of succulent crunchy king prawns. The milanese was to a top class restaurant standard. Its now our place to go, and I suggest you try it. ! Incidentally you'll be asking yourself is it expensive? No it isn't. Well done Greens.

My wife & I are so happy we decided to stop in for lunch on our travels up north. Best food we’ve had yet!! Everything was great. Pulled Pork & Cullen Skink was 👌👌 Environment is beautiful and the Staff was lovely.

Stopped for a cup of tea and had a slice of the most amazing Raspberry and Pistachio Meringue. Absolutely gorgeous.

Fantastic afternoon tea. Loved every bite. This afternoon tea was a bit different to the others I've had as it had different cheeses oatcakes and chutney, as well as the usual sandwiches and sweets.

I do not think the staff have either had training or even been to a restaurant before their service. I ordered a chicken salad (with rocket and roasted vegetables) only to be served a plate of warm Israeli (giant) couscous from a pre packed sachet no doubt. No sight of rocket or vegetables. Food at the table was also served at different times despite requesting for all to come at once. When mentioned, the staff could not care less : both the manager and waitress.

Had lunch on Saturday, it was excellent, the food was delicious, the service was excellent, a good choice on the menu, the restaurant and the toilets were clean and the staff were well presented in their uniforms. for us it was 10/10

Unfortunately had a disappointing experience at Greens. Had the crab cake starter and almost broke a tooth due to several bits of shell,which then caused me to be tentative in eating it! Told the waitress who said she would inform the chef. No discount was offered to the meal or a complimentary drink or desert! I would have expected better from what is a fairly expensive menu!! Quality and quantity is overpriced sadly.

Lovely warm welcome. Varied menu. Nice airy clean venue. I had burger. Delicious. He had soup ( mushroom) and steak sandwich. Very good choice. Soup was fabulous, sandwich was super tasty. We took some cake away which was equally good. Thank you. Well worth a visit

13 of us enjoyed an annual pre-Xmas lunch. The £25 3 course menu with plenty of choice was excellent. Candidly the meal was worth more.

What an unbelievable little restaurant! We were squeezed in on a last minute booking at 6pm on a Saturday. We arrived a little early as were advised we would need to vacate by 7.30, which was fine. When we arrived, it was as if we were celebrities! The staff were all so welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We got our orders in swiftly, including some delicious cocktails (can highly recommend the amaretto sour!) and enjoyed the ambiance of this beautifully laid out spot (even more so with delightful Christmas decor!). The food arrived quickly, and every dish of the 8 different orders across all 3 courses was divine. The meats were all perfectly cooked, tender, and accompanied with plentiful and delicious sides and sauces. Not a single member of our party left without copious amounts of praise for the place, people, and food. An absolute must-visit if you're in or around Tain!

Really lovely food but it is expensive. If you want a good meal for a special occasion this is the place. Not massive on atmosphere but the food makes up for it but that's what your paying for.

Had a faultless Tuesday lunch at this fabulous restaurant. Really good quality tasty food, menu not too large but plenty of choice including daily specials, vegan and free range eggs. Smallish wine list but gorgeous well chosen selection. Informal service was friendly and efficient adding to our superb family lunch.

A pleasant restaurant with a good selection of lunch dishes. I was disappointed at the lack of fish and too many potatoes in Cullen Skink and sent it back. They offered to try to make it up by bringing another bowl but I wasn't convinced it would be any better. Other dishes were pleasant enough.

We enjoyed our meal in Greens to celebrate our anniversary. The menu had a wide range of dishes and the restaurant was busy on a Thursday night. Our main course selections (lamb and tuna steak) were excellent. We also booked a (gluten free) afternoon tea and this was very good value. The selection of sandwiches, cakes and oatcakes with cheeses was just right.

Gorgeous surroundings, really informed and attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere and excellent quality food. Something on the menu for everyone. The only thing is, which is pretty common in restaurants still, poor quality coffee. As a coffee trainer and professional barista it always upsets me when this detail doesn’t match the quality of the food and service.

Greens is a lovely restaurant located in the centre of Tain, and even on a Thursday evening felt nice and lively. I went with family and we all had a fantastic meal with excellent service. I was particularly impressed by the separate vegan menu, which offered loads of choice of starters, mains AND desserts. Would highly recommend!

This was our last meal in our NC500 trip and we saved the best to last. The food was fantastic, the vibe and interiors of the restaurant lovely, and the staff friendly and helpful. Good meat/vegetarian/vegan options. Would return again if in the area again. We even had a live pipe band outside the restaurant when we arrived which was a nice bonus, they perform fortnightly through the town May-Sept.
