Torrish Restaurant at Ness Walk in Highland

Gluten-free high tea was amazing! It was a full spread, with just as many items as the regular one. Everything was delicious.

I grew up 2 minutes up the road from Ness Walk…it didn’t look like this in 1982! What a beautiful venue. Great welcome from the Team and excellent service throughout the night. Food was outstanding. A very welcome addition to the Inverness Hospitality scene.

Delicious. From the starters to desert all was perfect. The menu was varied, the amount of food was not overwhelming, beautifully presented. Interesting china. Great wine choices, cocktails and spirits. Amazing staff, quiet romantic atmosphere.

From arrival, to pre-dinner drinks, being seated for dinner and departing the restaurant, everything was just perfect. The hotel is stunning, we were welcomed and shown to the bar where we enjoyed a drink and viewed the menu. The ambience was ideal for a relaxing, quality, romantic dinner. The service was impeccable and dinner was prepared, presented and delivered to a very high standard. It was a wonderful formal dining experience. 10/10!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and especially enjoyed our meals. Andrew was our server a couple of different times and was exceptional. The food was fantastic and the service was even better. He gave us some great advice on Culloden, the town he is from.

Would like to give this restaurant a much better review but the constant noise from both the kitchen and the hallway made a huge difference in our experience. Five star hotel with a pretty restaurant that misses because of atmosphere. We had breakfast and dinner here and There doesnt seem to be a way to get away from a very loud kitchen. And then an employee giving new guests a tour in the hallway olus noise from the bar. Couldnt wait to leave. Food is good. Service is great bit next time would opt for a pub or place in town.

Torrish is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants up north. It has been consistently good every time we have visited. We did however notice this time a lot of provenance was given to where they get their produce from. Our canapés were outstanding we followed by the crab and scallops starter, both beautiful! A special mention of the curry gel on the crab,it’s an adventure of flavours. Our mains were lamb and the mushroom both delicious- the lamb in particular was cooked to perfection. We ended with dessert of chocolate and the Pannacota- why Torrish does not have Rosettes one has to ask as it has all the makings of a restaurant to be recognised for its culinary excellence. Service is very knowledgeable, attentive and not intrusive at all. They are all there but not there is a strange way. Kevin Staines, the GM of the hotel- his service is just the next level all together. He doesn’t just know his guests preferences but goes out of his way to make every guest feel as if they are the most special! Ness Walk and Torrish have always been our firm favourites and has never to date disappointed, do yourself a favour a get booked in.

Perfect spot for a night out as a couple or when visiting Ness Walk. We especially thought the sommelier was wonderful - he suggested the perfect wine to go with our dinner. The view was also fabulous. A perfect evening!

Absolutely wonderful experience at afternoon tea. The food was delicious. The tea was perfect and the wait staff took excellent care of us (even when we needed a new cup for tea).

Had an excellent meal at Torrish Restaurant last night. Staff were welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived and throughout our visit. We had different choices from the varied menu and everything we ordered was excellent. Grateful thanks to Kevin and all the team for making our evening out such an enjoyable one.

From the moment we arrived at Ness Walk it felt like a special place. The location is close to town but the gated entrance and enchanting gardens make it feel like you are entering a sanctuary. We had a wonderful Wimbledon tennis tournament themed afternoon tea for lunch. The selection on each tier were well thought out with twists on classics and or influenced by local ingredients. The elements on each tier felt well considered and the meal flowed well from savory to sweeter dishes. Each item appears delicate but we found it very filling and exceptionally good value. The selection of teas on offer covered all the bases. We have had afternoon teas at the Peninsula in Hong Kong and high tea at Raffles in Singapore over the years and the quality on offer at Ness Walk surpassed both. The staff were attentive and ready to help even though we chose to sit outside the main restaurant under the verandah to better enjoy the tranquility of the garden and a bit of afternoon sun.

This place was our favorite having tried quite a few restaurants in Inverness, the meal was superb from start to finish, the overall ambience and feel of the place was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful, overall an excellent experience.

APPALLINGLY EXPENSIVE, CUSTOMER-NEGLECTING, SHAM OF A RESTAURANT We, a band of 11 culinary aficionados, were misguided to dine here. What an utter catastrophe! A few sordid highlights: - The staff deigned to take our orders after a full half hour. The food, if you could charitably call it that, was tardy by a further hour. - Used glasses and plates were blithely ignored - we found ourselves forced to relegate them to other tables. - A surcharge of 10 quid for two miserly pieces of lamb, with flavour that only evokes revulsion, is preposterous. - The staff consisted solely of green, unseasoned trainees - it teetered on the brink of child exploitation. - The manager was obstinately defensive, exhibiting no inkling of customer-centric behaviour. - A near-extortionate fee of almost 150 pounds per head is an outrageously sick jest. Though there were a scant few passable dishes, the overriding sentiment is a stern admonition. FLEE THIS BEDLAM.

Very bad experience non customer friendly all too late no attention plates not taken away defensive manager. Do not recommend this place it’s a ripoff and you will be disappointed they only had students trying to help who never served people before

This restaurant is luxury from the moment the gates open, until the staff says goodbye. The setting is beautiful. Tea was lovely and posh. Nadia was our server, and was focused on our enjoyment.

Absolutely embarrassing. We planned on a nice dinner for Father's Day, our nicest meal for our holiday. I would have been disappointed with this level of service from a greasy spoon dive in a pub basement, let alone a highly rated restaurant in a 5-star hotel. The maitre d took our orders personally, and managed to get one of our starters wrong, despite a prolonged conversation about what it was. (We had never heard of sand carrots). Wet got a half hearted apology about the delay, no mention of the mix up (we only know he got it wrong because the bus boys brought out the wrong one first) Two of us ordered steaks, one was blue and one medium-well done. They somehow got those mixed up. When we mentioned it, we again barely got even an apology. Seems it's pretty par for the course for them to get orders wrong, from the maitre D's reaction. My blue steak was cold throughout. The chips, which they claim are triple fried, were severely undercooked. We had no one come by for the entirety of the meal, meaning I had nothing to drink with my steak (not even water). Once we were finished eating, we stared at our dirty dishes for over 20 minutes before getting up to ask for someone to come clear our plates and take our dessert orders. 5-10 minutes later, someone finally cleared our table and took our dessert orders. However, they left the empty wine and beer glasses. 35 minutes later, our coffees showed up, and some of our empty glasses were taken away. 5 minutes later I had to get up and bring the remainder of the empty glasses to the desk myself. Another 10 minutes later, we finally got our desserts. With the delays, we ordered more coffees (since we had ordered them to be had together)... We never got those second coffees. After eating our desserts and getting tired of waiting, we, once again, had to march up to the front desk in order to get our bill. Despite quite clearly expressing our extreme dissatisfaction with the service and food, the maitre d offered no personal apology, instead opting to hide behind the front desk staff. How they got their high rating on Google is a complete mystery. It seems you would want your a-listers on staff for Father's Day, which leads me to the unfortunate conclusion that this might have been the best they can do, which is a sad statement. For a better level of service, save yourself several hundred pounds and get a sausage roll from Greggs.

Visited the restaurant twice and was bitterly disappointed both times. On the first occasion the cod dish I ordered arrived cold so I returned it. It was re cooked but arrived after the others in the group had finished their meal. On the second visit the bavette steak that myself and another friend ordered arrived cold so they were re cooked along with fresh sides and we ate after all of the others in our group had finished. On the second occasion the cost of the two bavette steaks were removed and the restaurant manager apologised very sincerely. On the first occasion, there was no reduced charge and no apology from the restaurant manager. I do not think that the above should be considered acceptable on two occasions.

I have eaten at Torrish a few times now, including Hogmanay this past year, as well as mostly recently just a few days ago. My meals have always been excellent. The service is good, though if the restaurant is busy (it was very busy my last visit), it was just a little slower than normal. I had great rack of lamb, and my wife had the sole… both were excellent. If you are staying at Ness Walk, it is definitely a place you should eat. So nice to have a great meal and then go up to your room.

Dined tonight at Torrish as part of a 40-person party on a fixed 3-course menu with 3 choices per course. All of the diners raved about the quality of the meal. I can speak personally for the Tomato and Basil soup, Chicken Caesar Kiev and the Chocolate Torte by saying that all were prepared and presented perfectly. More impressive though was the outstanding service by a team of servers who clearly were passionate and enthusiastic about their work. Heartily recommended for those wishing a superb dining experience.
