The Bell Tree in Dundee City

Had a lovely family meal today at the Bell-tree. The food was great and very tasty. Very accommodating for food allergies as well. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The fact we could have the dogs in too was a bonus. Service was good and not long to wait.

During our vacation travels, we were looking for a great dinner stop. Noticing the parking lot was nearly full, we thought this might be a good indicator. Our delightful dining experience was proof we made the right decision. Holly and Linda, our servers, instantly made us feel at home, very engaging and genuinely welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised at how varied the menu was and how reasonably priced. Our meal was served in short order…nicely presented, delicious beyond words, and at just the right temperature. What caught our attention was how attentive both servers were. In a most unobtrusive way, they inquired if everything was to our liking and if they could get us anything else. This was done in a most caring and helpful manner, and made us feel special and most welcomed - truly a class act! We highly commend them for their exceptional customer service and their watchfulness. A shoutout to Aiden too for his helpful services upon our arrival. We were also very fortunate to experience the same exceptional service the following morning for breakfast. If ever you are in the area and get the opportunity to dine at this wonderful restaurant, you too will be treated to an exceptional dining experience. The Bell Tree restaurant has our highest recommendation…first-class service, quality, and pricing.

Just back from a lovely family lunch at The Bell Tree, Panmurefield . The food was great and the service was very efficient. Our server today was Linda who made the experience even more enjoyable with her excellent hospitality skills.

The Bell Tree Pub is a wonderful place to visit. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. The room was warm, with soft lighting and friendly chatter all around. Our server Jamie was great. He greeted us with a big smile and guided us through the menu. Jamie checked on us often, making sure our glasses never ran dry. The food was excellent. Each dish came out hot and looked lovely. The star was the Ultimate Burger. The beef was juicy, the cheese melted perfectly, and the bacon was crisp. The special sauce tied it all together on a soft, toasted bun. Behind the bar, Jakki kept everything running smoothly after our meal. Even when it got busy, she mixed drinks quickly and with style. She always had time for a quick chat, making everyone feel welcome. Overall, The Bell Tree Pub is a real gem. Great service from Jamie and Jakki, a cozy atmosphere, and top-notch food make it a must-visit. We can’t wait to go back

Spent a couple of days here with family while away on a golf comp. Food was good, service good, friendly staff, seems a busy pub.

Loved it here. We were a party of 10 in for Mother's Day lunch. Everybody was more than happy with their food & drink. I can highly recommend the Ultimate Burger. Service was a little slow but I truthfully believe that was down to how busy things were. Some people behind us had and an issue with something but it was handled politely & quickly.

Simply stunning venue. This is the true definition of 'All you can eat' with friendly, charismatic staff and food that tastes as good as it looks.

Food was out of this world, My wife went for sirloin steak cooked to perfection (Rare) all the trimmings not an piece of fat or gristle. I went for the Gammon Steak, it was so tasty and juicy, the cheese and bacon fries and veg complemented it perfectly, we both finished with no leftovers for the dogs at home. Superb.

Used to love this place- had some cracking meals here before and during the pandemic. Not today! I booked for Mother's day, paid a deposit too, but my Mum and I were very disappointed. We were expecting a beautiful roast with all the trimmings: the menu sounded thoughtfully put together with nice flourishes including roast potatoes with rosemary and garlic. However, my Mum was given what appeared to be tiny air-fried potatoes that were tasteless and totally dehydrated. Portion sizes were disappointing too- two tiny slivers of carrot, one tiny half floret of broccoli, and barely any gravy. We waited for 55 minutes for our meals, and when we explained there was a problem, staff actually attempted to snatch my Mum's plate away, leaving her with nothing. Also didn't make clear to us until I settled the bill that the cost of her meal would be deducted from the total. What should have been a lovely Mum and daughter lunch was left sadly lacking. Fair play to the young chap at the bar whom I settled the bill with. He was genuinely sorry we hadn't had a good experience and was honest about things not being great today. I won't be back- especially as I saw people around us who were waiting even longer than we were. Why were you sitting people down if you couldn't cope with the numbers and serve the food described in your menu? And why did it take an hour to serve a roast? Not good enough, Bell Tree.

Amazing pub, food, service on point

I thought the food was great for what it offered. I was in Dundee for vacation and honestly I thought it was a waste of my time to visit the city, but out of it at least I thought the food at that place was decent although very similar to fast food which is basically what a pub normally offers!

Very disappointing! I booked here on 12/03/2025 for our 10th Wedding Anniversary, despite putting on the notes that we met there 15 years ago, had our wedding reception 10 years ago, our 5th anniversary 5 years ago a special place to our hearts. We Didn't expect a red carpet, flowers , etc. just something better than what we received. Upon arrival we waited to be seated for some time, I managed to attracted someone serving behind the bar to be told "wait there someone will be with you I'm behind the bar!" We were then directed to our table which looked as if was just put in the corner out the way due to a larger table sat right next to us. Food ordering time I was asked of any allergies, which I replied Fish, my wife ordered Salmon, I ordered A Rump Steak with Steak Toppers of Prawns. Several minutes later we were told no Salmon available, my wife then chose chicken fajitas. when our meals arrived the waitress said just checking you had a fish allergy but ordered prawns, staff clearly doesn't know their correct allergens. what was supposed to be a romantic meal turned out very disappointed, will be our last anniversary we spend with yourself

AVOID parking in the car park of this pub or in the Adjacent Premier Inn car park which The Bell Tree - Greene King Pub & Grill own. Several large concrete blocks (pictured) were carefully and thoughtfully left in the parking space that I couldn’t see when manoeuvring into, causing significant damage to my car. I went to speak to the bar staff and was met with ‘well, you drove into it’ (never made that customer service seminar did you chief?) and reminded of the signs in the car park cowardly and complicity denying any responsibility for damage. I wish I had a sign like that so I could go around murdering people and saying ‘well, you fell on the knife….’ Or maybe there should be a sign that says ‘concrete block storage- NO PARKING’ ach- that would be just silly. Anyway Mr Customer Service representative, I won’t be dining in your restaurant tonight or any night for that matter and strongly recommend that others park their cars elsewhere. Better still, just dine elsewhere.

Good value meals, amazing staff and brilliant for kids

Booked as it was Friday. I'm glad we did. It was very busy. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Much better than we expected. It was also table service. Staf were lovely.

We were on holiday in Auchterhouse and went here for lunch to celebrate our son’s 30th birthday. We had a dog with us so we sat in the bar which was really nice. Food was lovely, great portion sizes and not too expensive. Staff were very friendly and made us all feel welcome. Would definitely go here again if back in the area.

Had a cracking family meal again at the Bell Tree. Personally had the Steak Pie, something I wouldn't normally have, usually a full steak or Burger guy but it was fantastic. My partner had the Ultimate Burger, she love it it but it was massive so couldn't finish it all to my delight! Our daughters had the the Chicken Skewer and the Macaroni along with a chocolate brownie which they loved as per. It is an ideal place for us as it is local and the staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly.

Again, bit of a disappointment, we were a party of 6, 4 of which had thinner chips with meal - we all left the majority of our chips as they were slightly undercooked and a bit mushy, this was obvious when plates were cleared but waiting staff obviously not bothered - they both came across as if they didn’t want to be there. I have worked in customer service for over 20 years and was appalled at the lack of enthusiasm and attention. It’s such a shame, as usually the food is great but definitely won’t be back

Been a couple of years since we were here last. Thought it was OK then , but it was so much better tonight. The service was excellent, the food was great and the atmosphere so friendly and warm . Definitely be coming back soon

Have used the Bell Tree many times over the years and have always loved it. Nice atmosphere, great staff and reasonable prices. Food is generally good pub standard but this time it can only be described as appealing. I had battered haddock and chips with a side of battered onion rings . The chips were what I have come to expect in a pub, dry and powdery and needing plenty of vinegar to moisten them. The onion rings looked like they were half cooked and straight out of the freezer bad. Instead of being golden brown and crisp they were soggy, grey and slimy. This was however outdone by the fish which was like dry cardboard and had obviously been sitting in a warming container for some time. Considering the price one would think they would have a little more respect for their customers than to insult them with this garbage. I have ceased to patronise the Bell Tree and strongly advise others to beware.

Went in for a meal on a Saturday night. Meal was excellent. Staff were all brilliant. Food came quickly even though the restaurant was busy. Liked the family atmosphere and that dogs were allowed at the bar. Definitely be back.

Had Christmas lunch at the Bell Tree Broughty Ferry Dundee. Absolutely brilliant, steak was really tender and the portions were good. Staff were efficient and friendly and we didn’t feel rushed nor neglected. Totally worth the money.

Evening food was excellent value for money. Ate twice in a week, bar area only so I can't comment on restaurant. Highlight was the chicken sharer and side salad, great taste and quality. Very busy but servers quick to clean up, remove plates and bring additional condiments. Breakfast was OK but as usual most items are cooked and left to warm for orders. I really didn't like the bacon but this is usual for me in this setting. Great to see option of bubble and squeak. All in I'd recommend.

Very disappointed to be told that our elderly dog couldn't come in despite having agreed this on booking.

The macaroni and loaded fries were absolutely disgusting. There was about 12 chips supposed to have cheese and bacon on them. Didn’t think you could go wrong with those choices. But you obviously can. Weren’t cheap either. Awful food. Wouldn’t even give it a 1 for food

Every time we come here the staff and food are excellent! Efficient and friendly service even for large parties (orders taken in advance). We will continue to come back!

The Belltree Pub and Grill offers a cozy atmosphere, but the food falls short. Dishes lack flavor and freshness, with overcooked mains and underwhelming sides. Service is decent, but the below-average food doesn't justify the price. Disappointing food overall but the service is very good.

Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, very attentive, food great!! Came in one day just to chill and watch the football, very busy day but you could hear praise from various families having their meals. Senior members of staff going above and beyond to also help new employees which was good to see as a customer knowing top service was passed on to new members of staff. Brilliant

Lovely pub, we where staying next door and first night it was fully booked. Food was lovely and enjoyed a nice breakfast in the morning. Very busy so I would book.

Staying at the Premier Inn next door we popped in chancing our luck for a table for dinner. Staff were great and sorted a table quickly. Food was good, staff were amazing and it was reasonably priced. Breakfast the next morning, cereal and fruit was on a table but hot food had to be ordered. I'm sure the menu said it was unlimited but I may have got that wrong as only one of each item that you asked for on the plate. My wife had more items as I didn't like some of them but no additional items were on my plate so I paid the same price for a lot less food. At no time did staff come near to ask if we wanted more. Would I go back? If I was in the area then yes for dinner but the breakfast wasn't worth it

I've been here a lot of late and I can say that everything I eat here, I am not disappointed. The food quality is good, the staff are quite attentive, which makes life easier and makes it more welcoming overall. I do recommend the Bell Tree, and it also has a blue light discount here as well.

This has quickly became our local, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, led by Holly the GM! The food is always really good, so much so that me and my partner have booked for Christmas! The interior is cosy but modern and always spotlessly clean despite how busy they can be at time! A real gem of a place! Keep it up folks!

Our extended family of 3 adults, a 9 year old and 7 year old enjoyed lunch here one Friday in July. One of the group is a wheelchair user and lives in a near by care home but we didn't have to call to book and let them know as the Green King app has a brilliant reservation system that allows you to alert the restaurant of wheelchair users, request high chairs etc. You can even use the app to order in the restaurant but we chose not to in this occasion. The restaurant decor and staff are excellent making it a pleasant place to eat. The menu is extensive and we opted for the lunch menu and chose salmon, fish n chips and the mini grill. The kids chose the chicken nuggets and flatbread. All meals piping hot and delicious. Overall, a great dining experience and value for money. Enjoy.

Great friendly pub with good drink choice.

What a lovely restaurant. Nice choice of foods, although I'd like to see more variety regarding the desserts. You can only have so much chocolate. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. You would be sensible to book in advance for the weekend. They do online booking which worked well for us. You have to try the Steak Balmoral - omg just the best steak EVER! The staff who deal with breakfasts are lovely and work really hard. They were so welcoming. They showed so much interest in our plans for the day and came up with some interesting suggestions. So appreciated.

Ate here with the family. It was a Saturday afternoon so was busy. We booked in advance. Ordering for 4 adults any 2 children, only children had sweets. Bill came to £173. I didn't think this was too bad. The starters were I thought good. Though my wife had the calamari and said it was limp. The chicken wings were nice and crispy. No grumbles about haggis bites. However, the mains was a disappointment. I had the haddock and chips. The moment it arrived I knew it was pre frozen. The chips were nothing to write home about. There were grumbles about the medium rare steaks. Unfortunately there is no children play areas. Will likely not go again.

Been a few times for lunch / Tea and every meal was spot on , so I thought I would try breakfast, service great as usual but the food was horrendous, lorne and bacon poor quality , tinned mushrooms, potato scone was very undercooked, the haggis was hidden under the egg thankfully, tomato was poor and no choice of white bread for toast , on a plus side the fried egg was good , Definitely need to up your game on the breakfast

I had been recommended to visit. Very busy though well managed. High standard of food with actual delicious flavours. Staff were very helpful, there was a small issue, it was immediately resolved by the assistant manager with smiles. Loved the atmosphere as it had a great vibe and ambience, we felt very comfortable and enjoyed all. Will return.

Arrived just after 10 p.m. having just driven from Cairnryan ferry port. Ordered two drinks and enquired about food but advised kitchen just closed. Asked if we could get some chips at local chipper and eat them there as the bar was virtually empty, and mistakenly thought we got an affirmative reply. Well we were wrong but then advised you can't eat them outside either on their deserted wooden benches. We'll bingo for friendliness and hospitality on our first Scotish encounter.

Came in here for a drink & meeting. Only had a can of coke, £3.65!? I questioned this and was told it wasn’t a mistake. You cant charge £3.65 for a can of coke. That just isn’t okay. Unsure what the food is like but i don’t think i want to. That is beyond outrageous.

The restaurant was pretty full, so the service was a little slow. The server was super polite and apologised. The food was fantastic when it came out. My daughter has allergies, and they made sure her order was made to accommodate her, even cooking one menu item different from how it was listed. 5 different meals were ordered, and 5 clean plates went back. That shows just how good the food was.

Prompt friendly service from staff and special mention for Aidan- nothing too much trouble. All burgers good and vegan option v tasty

Not a pleasant place to visit on a Friday night. Filled with loud groups of mildly drunk blokes, and the barman was the grumpies, untidiest, slowest thing on the planet. I'm sure I saw a snail overtake hiim in the car-park later on. Update: may 2024. A quick after-work visit on a Thursday evening. The service was weird and amateurish (e.g. the waitress asked if she could get us anything else while I was paying the bill 🤒). The menu was large but completely uninspiring and the food its self was almost undescribably bland. I can't think of any reason to return.

Brilliant rustic, cosy pub and restaurant. Have been going here for years although don’t manage to get in regularly because it’s a bit out of the way. Stopped today for lunch and had a delicious meal. I started with squid while my partner had the bang bang cauliflower. Squid was excellent with the most delicious sauce and my girlfriend’s cauliflower was also fantastic, almost resembling vegetable pakoras. The starters were only 3.49 to add on with the lunch menu. For mains I had the lunch mini grill which came with gammon, chicken, sausage, chips, peas and a tomato. All of it was fantastic although special call out to the gammon steak which was very juicy and tasty. My girlfriend had the chicken and bacon ciabatta which she thoroughly enjoyed. Service was excellent with drinks coming within a minute or two. Food was also served very quickly. We didn’t have our dog with us but the bar part is dog friendly. They also serve pupacinos. Looking forward to my next visit.

I ordered steak pie and chips. What can go wrong? The pie looked good until I cut into it. What flowed out was just gravy, no meat, nothing that could resemble a STEAK PIE. To top that off, I got a wee bowl of....GRAVY. Must have been all you can slurp GRAVY day. It was disgusting. I would have given it minus 10 if I could. Will never be back. A dump

I had the Salmon with potatoes and a pint of Estrella Galicia. Prices on the Lunch menu are very reasonable. My Salmon with potatoes and sour cream chive sauce was only £9.49. Staff are friendly also.

Stayed at the premier inn for 3 nights so had breakfast and evening meal here. Cannot thank the staff enough for accommodating my 4 year old food allergies. It can be very challenging eating out with multiple allergies and trusting the venue to take it seriously . The staff here were excellent and my son absolutely loved the food . This made a total difference to our ‘holiday’ The food all round was great and I would definitely recommend and return . Huge thanks to all the staff here . Wonderful

Gorgeous food, shame we didn't manage to eat it all. The portion sizes were huge! Staff are friendly and the service was good. We've eaten here several times when staying at the Premier Inn next door. And to be honest, it's what we look forward to the most.

Helen made us feel very welcome! Wonderful service and would highly recommend! The food was absolutely outstanding and we could have stayed there all night! It honestly felt like a home away from home! Again amazing service from Helen and the rest of the staff! Would give more stars if I could!

Great atmosphere and service from the staff. Food arrived fairly quickly so no issues there. I had a steak which tasted okay, was very chewy at times and I barely tasted any seasoning at all on it, the chips that came with it were pretty standard. With this I had a side of salad which was very poor. The peppers in the salad were soggy and floppy which was just revolting. The lettuce in there was also soggy and none of it tasted or felt fresh what so ever.

I had the salmon for lunch. It was good but the rest of the meal was just boiled potatoes, no other veg, could have done with peas and sweetcorn etc. Too many potatoes.

We only go for breakfast so far staff are great food is so tasty nice produce they serve on breakfast menu will keep going back
