Daisy Tasker in Dundee City

I would say ok to slightly disappointing. The concept is cool and the cuisine overall good. service is average and no attention to details overall. The breakfast lacks diversity and innovation and key items where non available repetitively. Can certainly work wonderfully if a bit of attention was brought onto the service and concept activation.

A very pleasant meal here with friends. The food was excellent as was the service. A bit of an unusual layout with some large communal tables. However there were sufficient smaller tables for everyone. Would come back.

Slow but friendly service even though the place was quiet. I ordered a burger with no tomato and a coca Cola. £22 I got brought a small bottle of Pepsi instead of coca Cola which I don't like due to the sweetners in and a average burger with tomato still on. Overpriced hotel restaurant i wouldn't go back personally. Handy access from the hotel though.

Visité la Daisy Tasker para una (tardía) cena de San Valentín. Llegamos unos 30 minutos demasiado temprano para nuestra reserva, pero nos acomodaron en el bar por un corto tiempo antes de que la mesa estaba preparada para nosotros. El servicial Jamie era muy hospitalario y después de que nos dio los especiales y sus recomendaciones, nos decidimos por un Pollo y jamón Hough Pie y el Haddock & Chips, con el entrante de salmón. Salmón: delicioso, derretido en boca. ¡Raspando el fondo por cada bocado! Pastel: salsa rica, carne tierna con pastelería ligera y esponjosa. Las verduras que las acompañaban también estaban presentes. Pescado: masa ligera y crujiente, Eglefino perfectamente cocido. Un montón de patatas fritas que eran crujientes por fuera y esponjosas por dentro. Un precio justo para una comida de alta calidad. El personal también muy amable y hablador sin inmiscuirse en nuestra comida. ¡Volveremos amigos, gracias!

La última vez que visité su establecimiento fue en agosto de 2023. El personal era genial, pero la comida era abismal (siéntase libre de leer mi crítica anterior). Dije que volvería y te daría otra oportunidad. Bueno, me tomó un año, pero aquí estoy. El personal una vez más fantástico. Especialmente nuestro servidor, Abbey. Puede que sea joven pero era profesional y amable y todo lo que querrías en una buena camarera tan bien hecho con ella. La comida era buena. Tuvimos la sopa que estaba sabrosa con un poco de pan. Yo tenía el pescado con patatas fritas que estaba bueno y mi amigo tenía el pastel de pollo. Se lo comió todo. La última vez que estuvimos aquí, fue realmente terrible. Tuvieron verdaderos problemas en la cocina y me complace ver que esto se ha rectificado. También un gran agradecimiento al gerente que resolvió nuestro otro amigo que tenía algunas alergias. Realmente hicieron un esfuerzo extra. Aunque el restaurante estaba muy ocupado, nos sentimos como VIP. Así que muchas gracias y volveremos, teniendo en cuenta que ahora todos vivimos en Brighton Inglaterra tal vez en un año o tal vez menos, pero volveremos.

El aparcamiento es estrecho. Comida excelente pero decepcionada por la forma de moda y pretencioso que se sirve. Por ejemplo, salmón ahumado caliente en un frasco Kilner que estaba abierto y ridículamente difícil para sacar comida de él. Se sirve con una envoltura de mantequilla y dos de las rebanadas más pequeñas de pan tostado. Obviamente servido en una tabla. Patatas fritas para la comida principal servida en una taza. Pensé que estas modas estaban muertas en los 80. Los asientos eran duros asientos de madera sin amortiguación. La comida era genial. No hay necesidad de patatas en una taza. Reservamos una mesa aquí para la cena para celebrar nuestro aniversario mientras estábamos alojados en las suites adyacentes. El restaurante está en un edificio de molino convertido y muy amplio y moderno en diseño. El personal era muy amable y acogedor y nos sentamos rápidamente. Al hablar del menú el personal hizo todo lo posible para decir lo buenos que eran ciertos platos. Decidimos pedir la cena asada y el pastel de pollo y jamón. Fue un poco de espera para la comida, especialmente cuando solo había otra mesa ocupada. Cuando llegó la comida resultó ser decepcionante , la carne de res en la cena asada era muy masticable , el pastel era principalmente hojaldre de ruff y pequeñas limaduras y los nabos servidos con ambas comidas eran tan sólidos que no se podía clavar un tenedor en ellos y no eran comestibles . Cuando se lo planteamos al personal uno dijo que eran cebollas? y el otro dijo oh perdón es una pena que se lo plantearé al chef. Decidimos pedir el postre, mi marido pidió un pudín de toffee pegajoso que estaba bueno, y yo pedí una pequeña panacotta. Resultó ser una panacotta , con gelatina en la parte inferior y rocíos en la parte superior. Más como un pudín escolar que una comida de restaurante de dos rosetas. La otra cosa molesta fue la repetitiva música de "levantamiento" que se tocaba a todo volumen durante toda la noche. Cuesta casi £ 80 por un entrante de pan y aceite para 1 , 2 platos y 2 copas pequeñas de vino. Creo que el restaurante piensa que es mejor de lo que realmente es.

Top notch food and drink in a fantastic environment. I've been coming here for the past year and can comfortably say I haven't had a bad meal. Service is always good and quality of food is consistent. Easily as good, if not better, as any restaurant in town serving similar style food.

Brilliant food and service, the head waiter or restaurant manager was attentive and made an effort to ensure we were happy with our experience

The food in this restaurant is very good, but what lets it down is its poor service and apparent lack of staff training. Our group of 18 had been asked to send in our orders for starters and main courses the day before, but despite our group leader's detailed list three of the main course orders did not reach the kitchen and so the three of us sat and waited and waited, while everyone else was enjoying their meal. A young lady called Emma came to our rescue and we were finally served after almost everyone else had finished their meal. The manager and the other waiters seemed to be completly oblivious of their duties. It was left to Emma to apologise - something the manager should have done. When it came to desserts, a young waiter took all our orders and wrote them down, however, again three of the orders did not reach the kitchen. How was this even possible, when he had written everything down on a pad? Again Emma sorted out the problem and the three desserts finally appeared again after everyone else had finished their meal. You would have thought that after the problems with the main courses, they would have taken extra care to avoid a repeat performance, but they didn't seem to care. Neither the waiter nor the manager apologised. This task was again left to Emma, who seemed to be the only capable member of staff in the restaurant. It is a shame - the food at Daisy Tasker is very nice, but I certainly would not go back in a hurry.

Terrific food! Service was extremely slow but the waiting staff managed to keep their cool despite the problems in the kitchen. They were extremely friendly, with great personalities and made our visit enjoyable.

Amazing waiter! Our waiter was Jamie who welcomed us in. We don't get out much due to kids running riot so this was a very special family meal. We can't thank Jamie enough for the kindness and respect he gave us. He is a very polite and well-mannered person. Myself and my children are very picky eaters so Jamie tended to our needs. Excellent customer service! He made sure we all had everything we ordered. 5 stars from myself and my family ☺️

We were a noisy group celebrating graduation. Maja was our waitress for the evening and she handled us perfectly as professional and patient. The food and service were excellent in beautiful surroundings; I particularly liked the modern bar area and I left wanting to return.

Fantastic experience at Daisy Tasker yesterday for a graduation meal. I was having a look about to see where my folks and I could go for a meal, and found the menu online. Booking was easy and the staff kindly accommodated a table to the side which was useful for my mum who is hard of hearing. I had the chicken liver parfait for starter, and the steak and ale pie for main. Both delicious. The steak pie must be one of the best I have ever had. So much meat! And the chips and greens were cook to perfection. Lovely setting! Would defiantly recommend.

The Daisy Tasker has a nice bright dining area with comfortable seating. It was midweek and restaurant wasn't busy. Staff were friendly and helpful. The menu has a decent range of choices, but for what you get, seems very over priced. Many of the main courses, including burgers, don't include chips or sides and these need to be ordered separately. I had chicken milanese, which consisted of a small, thin piece of breaded chicken (it looked bought in rather than prepared on site) and tagliatelle with tomato sauce. For £18 it would have been nice if a garnish had been included - perhaps a few rocket leaves or a couple of vine tomatoes, just something to enhance the presentation, given the cost of the meal. Desserts were also on the small side. The crumble comes in a very shallow dish with little fruit content. The restaurant itself was a nice venue, food was served promptly and staff were attentive - all very positive. However, the cost of food in relation to what is served is a definite drawback.

Less that average for expensive food. Went in a couple of times when I hadn't booked while staying in the hotel, Staff looked at a computer screen then they said there was no space while the restaurant was empty.

Had a reasonable experience here for dinner once. However, when returning for the Christmas menu, I was overcharged for a set price menu and regarding food quality, it wasn't much of a "treat", I'll stick to cooking at home.

Was staying at the hotel and after along drive from england was too tired to go out. Looking at recent reviews i had dinner here with some trepidation. However everything was excellent. I had haddock and chips which was superb. In fact i enjoyed it as much as some of the award winning chippies i have been to in fife. Service was good too. Recommended

One of my friends booked for a group of us to have a Pre Christmas meal . Lack of staff or staff trained in hospitality was a problem. It was quite busy with groups of diners and it seemed most had tge same experience as our table. We are patient and don't expect wonders when out for food and drinks but this restaurant within the hotel didn't impress. Slow service , again due to inexperienced staff and cold food disappointed our group.

I hardly every leave poor reviews but I feel compelled to make sure no one goes here thinking they’re getting fresh, home made food. I was staying at the indigo hotel whilst working in Dundee. I asked the waiter why frozen roast potatoes had been served with my pie, they weren’t sure but they said the chefs are changing. I had three meals here, all worse than the last. I felt so sorry for people who has chosen to come to the restaurant as a special occasion. Give it a wide birth.

I had a booking for 9th December since 24th August and today (less than a week before the date) they called to cancel my booking as now had a booking for 50 which clearly was much more important to them rather than honouring a booking made sometime ago. Won’t be booking here again ! Absolutely disgusted with the service. Wouldn’t recommend.

Lovely place visually and the food was great too, however service was very slow and one meal came out cold that had to be reheated - had to wait 20+ minutes for the bill to arrive before paying at the bar instead. Wouldn’t discount the place but not great service overall

Food was acceptable but the main course was not as described - the veggie lasagna should have had spinach as the first named vegetable but this ingredient was difficult to even detect! Vegetable options need to be given extra care on the flavours to make them interesting.

Definitely the worst steak we’ve ever had. We’ve ordered a ribeye steak. Except that it was kept in the freezer for a long time, was not defrosted properly and was served to us boiled not grilled. 😩 The steak knives were dirty and the steak took 50 minutes to come!! 50!!!

Had an evening meal while staying at the hotel this week. The steak pie was brilliant, jammed with melt in the mouth beef in a well balanced gravy with lots of carrots. Friendly staff as always.

Staying in Dundee for a few days this was the ideal choice as I was booked into the Staybridge. I was advised to book a table but an early time found plenty of places, it does get busy so if a later time it is advisable to book a table.Greated with a warm welcome, the menu was explained and everything was available. Not too long to wait and my chosen steak was perfect.Had such a good experience went the following night and tried something different, again a really good experience.Great service atmosphere and food all you could ask for.

Awful - place was empty apart from us and one other couple which would make you think the service would be great, not the case! I wanted steak but was told none available. This was something they could have let us know when we booked. The staff sat looking at a laptop chatting amongst themselves and couldn't care less about giving us anything but the minimum attention. My husbands burger was really terrible - so salty and texture like over-processed cheap burger meat. He is not a fussy eater but couldn't finish it. My fajitas were ok, I was very hungry so ate most of them but they certainly weren't anything to get excited about. Staff didn't ask how our meal was and we left as quickly as we could. To be honest it didnt seem worth complaining as the staff just weren't interested. Very disappointing as we've experienced Indigo Hotels before and never had any problems. Don't waste your time or money!

We ordered pizza and a burger and chips for room service. It arrived hot and the service was really good. However, you can tell instantly that the food was of really low quality. I’ve had better frozen pizzas from Asda. It’s ok if you’re in a pinch but don’t expect the good quality dining experience that previous reviews suggest.

After waiting half an hour after being shown to my table with no rinks order being taken listening to staffs excuses with other guests waiting at the bar, I finally ordered my food. My starter arrived swiftly followed by my main a vegetable lasagna which was obviously frozen and heated while Luke warm round the outside the inside was still cold. Needless to say it was not finished and I left completely unsatisfied. To sum up. Understaffed, poor management on the floor and poor food. I would not recommend. Hotel Guest

Lovely evening spent with good friends celebrating a birthday milestone. Our meals were spot on and the staff, of whom we were served by several, were brilliant. Lovely touch with the Happy Birthday slate with delicious tablet. Thank you for the experience.😊

Do not go here unless you book a table & that includes if you are a hotel guest. We arrived on Sunday evening & there were only 2 staff working the bar & the restaurant. There were 4 other guests also loitering waiting to be attended to. However the front of house staff were very polite & found us a table. Service was slow but we recognised they were so busy trying to get drinks & serve food to all the guests. The Dundee gin cocktail was very good. For food we had the burger & it was tasty. We had a very enjoyable evening. As such we went again on the Monday evening this time there were 6 waiting staff on duty. We were told there would be a wait of 30 minutes for food due to a large party which had arrived. Not a problem we got some drinks from the bar & sat down. In theory there were more bar & waiting service but it was calamitous. Plenty of the staff walking up & down looking around the restaurant but we watched 2 groups of tired American hotel guests being turned away at the entrance & being told to go elsewhere yet there were empty tables. After an hour of being ignored we called it a day & walked away. Shame. Something isn’t working here from a staffing & service perspective as there could not have been more of a stark contrast in 2 night’s experience.

Last minute change of decision to go here, really nice restaurant all round, nice food and attentive service. Quiet for a Friday night, but lovely and modern.

Nice restaurant good great to staff are great and friendly

During my visit (on a Saturday night) the restaurant had an only 2 members of staff working, both of which seemed extremely under pressure to try and ensure that everyone was having a good dining experience. The staff nonetheless were amazing however I felt really bad for them having to take care of so many people by themselves. Considering this, the wait times for food and drinks was fair however longer than it should have taken had there been more staff. The food was sub-par at best. Me and my partner had both starters and mains- the risotto was undercooked. The soup was pretty good however the bread was dry. The hake main course was edible but not amazing and the arrabbiata pasta was not fresh however the sauce was good. Overall a disappointing experience however staff were amazing and very apologetic about the situation just a poor food quality.

The manager and waiting staff were lovely and really helpful however the food was disappointing. There was some issue in the kitchen so our meals came at different times. The quality of the food was not great. I had a risotto starter with a poached egg. The egg was hard not runny as it should be (the yoke is supposed to form a sauce) the risotto was stodgy. The vegetarian curry faired no better and the portion for £16.95 was measly. We were given free dessert because of all the issues we had but even that wasn’t great as the sticky toffee pudding was dry with no sauce. I gave you 3 stars but if I was only rating the food it would be 1 star. Even Breakfast was a problem with fizzy cranberry juice and a fruit salad that was definitely on the turn. The kitchen needs some serious restructuring. On a positive note as I noted above, all the restaurant staff have been very professional and helpful.

Had dinner with my wife Natalie and we received a lovely bottle of champagne from Lewis the manager as it was our anniversary as we arrived. Stayed at Hotel Indigo Dundee, this is the bar and restaurant named after a famous Dundee lady who worked in the mill for over 50yrs. The mill was changed to a hotel around 4years ago. There are photos of the lady in the restaurant 😊

Having dined here for breakfast and a light evening meal this place has a great atmosphere the service and food are good as well. The breakfast covers all the bases from cooked, to coco pops. The evening selection while not vast also provides for most tastes.

Delicious food at Daisy Tasker in Dundee! Divine cod, dill mash, wild mushroom and red wine sauce for me. Lovely mushroom linguine, tarragon and vegetarian parmesan for my other half. Washed down with a tasty Merlot and Peroni. THEN…yummy lemon tart and Chantilly cream back in our room…(3 course dinner was included in our room booking). AND a joyous breakfast the next morning (after staying in the adjoining and amazing Hotel Indigo) of poached eggs and bacon for me and omelette for him. Fantastic quality and good value - you must try it!! Thank you to all the hard-working staff!!

Unable to give 3.5 stars - nice wee oasis of calm, but they need to ditch the burgers and concentrate on the more haute elements of the menu. Let's face it, you should want to stand out from everybody and their pooch.

I wish I had of known about this hidden gem years ago. Had a wonderful meal with my family on 06/11/22. The food was delicious and well presented. The decor is contemporary and fresh. Staff were amazing, friendly and informative. Special shout out to our server Lewis. He couldn’t have been more helpful. Such a nice young lad. I will definitely be back.

Restaurants attached to hotels are often bland, last resort type places. This is an exception to that rule. Staff is great, upbeat and attentive. The menu items are well prepared and above par. Nice to see innovative preparation of that make a visit worthwhile.

Great table service however quality of the food questionable. Could not recommend appart from the Cullen skink which was exceptional.

I tried the new menu yesterday at Daisy Tasker and was blown away by the beautiful flavors and presentation! I throughly enjoyed the hot smoked salmon, the Hake with summer vegetables and finishing it with the chocolate orange fondant dessert which is probably the best...
