Jahangir Tandoori Restaurant in Dundee City

Excellent service and excellent food.

Been using the Jahangir for a long time now,but I was so very disappointed tonight(March 17th),the curry was bland more tomatoes than anything,& the Peshawari naan was 1 of the worst I'd had,no taste just a sprinkle of coconut on the top it will be a long time before I come back Sorry

We visited Jahangir’s Dundee for the first time last week. Hands down the best Indian I think I’ve ever had. The portion sizes were perfect, my house Thalia was phenomenal! And the service was really good! My only comment on service would be there was either too much or too little, either multiple people trying to take a food or drink order and no check back. Otherwise I cannot fault this place at all!!!

Went there for the first time for ordering a takeaway. Really nice vibe and atmosphere, with Indian music in background. The staff is really welcoming and makes you feel like at place. The food was top quality. Loved the butter chicken and the butter Naan. Would go again 👍

On Tuesday night, Jahangir restaurant was fairly busy as it should be. Best Indian in Dundee. Very Happy to know that, young lad our neighbour Safatt likes dundee very much, welcoming guy with smile 😄 However, nice atmosphere , incredible food as always.

It was like a blast from the past. Last ate here over 20 years ago on a visit back to Dundee. Same homely atmosphere and fantastic service. Food was excellent just as I remembered it

Big portions, so much food we had to bring some home with us. Never had a bad meal here, the hosts are welcoming and cant do enough for you

Fantastic place to eat and enjoy an evening out. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is lovely. You feel very welcome and looked after.

Busy with Christmas trade and we turned up without a booking. They still did their best to seat us as soon as they could which we were really grateful for.

We regularly come here for our lunch when visiting Dundee. The lunch menu is excellent value for money. The food is well cooked, tasty and well presented. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended 👌

I sincerely hope the staff of this restaurant scale up their hospitality skills & refrain from bumping off people from their table who are already half way through their meals to other other table for any reason whatsoever. Further, lack of communication skills from the member of staff adds up to the misery. Hope Jahangir restaurant takes this review in a true positive spirit. BW

The food is always beautiful here and today was no different. I have Chicken tikka and a naan, the whole family loved every bite, highly recommended!

This has been our "go to" restaurant/takeaway for 20 years. It has changed hands recently and in our opinion the new staff aren't as competent or friendly as the previous staff. Waiting staff didn't understand us when we ordered, we had to repeat ourselves and ended up pointing at the menu, quite an awkward interaction. Whilst eating our meal, staff made inappropriate sexual comments in conversation with us which was creepy and made us feel quite uncomfortable. We laughed it off at the time not wanting to cause a scene. The same member of staff added a tip to our final bill which we wouldn't have left. The food isn't as good, or plentiful, either - chicken pakoras are smaller, staff ignore special cooking requests and the last naan bread we had was pale, doughy and much smaller. Although the restaurant looks better with the window shutters open the atmosphere is flat. This isn't a hasty response to one visit, we have had some takeaway meals, and have dined in 3 times, since it changed hands. Don't think we will be hurrying back unfortunately.

Love the tandoori, it tastes like eating actual Indian tandoori. It is very hard to find authentic Indian tastes in the UK but Jahagir has that amazing taste.

Lovely meal here last night. My husband and I had a curry each, shared a rice and a garlic naan. Plenty of rice for 2 and the naan was huge! Highly recommend.

We have dined in many times and never had a bad experience. Tonight, we decided to have a delivery, it was excellent, I had the mixed grill and hubby had lamb biryani, be back soon to dine in.

We went in had to wait a wee while to get served although it was lunchtime and the restaurant was quiet, we got two pints of lager, mine didn't taste right but they were quick enough to change it. We absolutely loved our curries, the garlic nans were delicious. Overall for our express lunch menu it was delicious would thoroughly recommend. 😋

Went for a dinner with friends. The Kurma is delicious, the staff are extremely friendly and kind, it feels like you are sitting down in a family atmosphere. The naan was so delicious and enormous as well, it was bigger than my head! I was debating to have 2 naan each but I’m glad I didn’t order them because my stomach was about to burst with good food by the time we left! It seems a little bit expensive when you look at the menu, but the portion sizes are enormous and you are guaranteed to be left full, so it’s well worth it.

Very beautiful restaurant.Very average food Last nights takeaway two burnt poppadoms onion chutney strange.Chicken Pathia came with a bright red tasteless gloopy sauce that looked like it came from a Dulux coulor chart.The chicken home style Madras billed as what your mum would make was not special or worth the money,There is much better in Dundee

One of the best Indian meals we have had. Would recommend the half a tandoori chicken. Staff friendly and attentive. My only comment would be that the lighting was too bright and would benefit from a more ambient atmosphere. Will not put us off returning though. Thank you

Waited 10 mins at front as nobody there . Finally went to kitchen and got somebody. Business lunch finished at 14.30 . We had to pay Al a carte prices . Ordered chicken pakora & vegetable pakora . My partner ordered chicken Tula masala & pilau rice . I ordered chicken Tim’s masala with Nan bread . Very very small portions for price . And we had to wait 30mins between starter and main . And to make matters worse there was no taste to the chicken tikka masala. St Andrews is ten times better. Will certainly not use this place again . Complete waste of money. Service ridiculous. Be warned people. Go elsewhere for better service & quality food . Your paying for it .

just experienced what must be one of the best priced and tastiest lunches have had in Dundee. great value 2 course special lunch menu. Nadia our waitress is very attentive without being OTT and does seem to care about her customers. restaurant i s very clean tables feel well spaced out and feels safe.

Visited last night after seeing the restaurant advertised in Sleeperz hotel at check in. Restaurant is modern, clean, welcoming and tables are well spaced. Menu is varied and well priced. The food was plentiful and tasty. Staff worked hard and cleaning measures were very good.We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and whilst chatting to the lady at reception while waiting for our friend’s return from the cloakroom, she happened to ask where we were staying in Dundee. When we said the name of our hotel she advised that they had an agreement with the hotel for a 15% discount and promptly worked out what our reduction would have been then refunded us the cash! We were amazed and very grateful as the lady need not have mentioned this fact at all. So on top of providing excellent food in plentiful portions with great service, Jahangir are to be highly recommended for their honest staff. All in all a great experience.

Overall the food was excellent as usual, no complaints there at all. However from the outset the service was a bit rushed. We had booked for 7pm and were asked to sit in the waiting area when we arrived. We waited for about 15 minutes and then were shown to the table. The food came out very quickly which was excellent, but the servers kept coming over and asking us if we had finished. I was having a break to let my food digest a bit and a server had come over for the third time to ask if I was finished so I just said yes! I had still had rice to eat and half a portion of curry but I couldn’t be bothered with the constant hassle! Someone also took my partner’s beer away despite there being some left in it. There were also 3 waitresses just hanging around chatting which was quite off-putting.Finally, while we were sitting in the restaurant I received an email saying that I had been marked as a no-show… we were definitely there!Overall 5 stars for the food but the service let it down this time unfortunately.

Great food. My son in law order came up to £122. The gentleman who answered the phone gave me 2 complimentary wine. Great service and perfect timing.

The menu is a bit too confusing, too many styles of dishes with similar ingredients which made ordering a bit hard. The rice came on the plates rather than independently which is different. The dishes were ok , very tasty and original but not great. The prices are a bit high for the location. We are well as a family and enjoyed the experience. The garlic naans were fabulous!!

This was our first visit to this Indian and we went based on favourable reviews. We went on a Thursday evening having placed a reservation. Unfortunately the restaurant was extremely quiet with no ambience and wondering if trade is falling. Cannot complain about the food and service as both were good, but would be hesitant to return if it were as quiet again

First visit here & wasn't disappointed!!We had the thali platter which all tasted grear but for me the punjabi masala was favourite! Even the chapatis were fresh and tasty- not just an after thought.Staff were friendly and helpfuk. Partner only ever has korma but they offered to do all of thevcurries in the platter mild and it's best Indian meal he has had. Having sorbet was just sheer greed but really tastyCan't wait to go back! There are still social distancing measures in place and it felt very safe but equally rekaxed atmosphere. Perspex is subtle and there are auto hand sanitisers plus a one way system.

Food was as good as always, service also as good as always. But prices have really shot up!I know that this sector has been impacted by covid lockdown, but these increases are totally out of proportion!Has certainly put me right off returning, and that's a shame.So, yes, go and enjoy the food - but make sure you properly check out the prices before ordering. Your 'old favourites ' are likely to hurt your wallet!

We used to always go to the Gulistan in B/Ferry but this restaurant has definitely overtaken there, food again was brilliant. The food is always hot and salad for starters comes individually packed and is lovely and fresh. The pakoras this evening had obviously just been made and were delicious.I would recommend this restaurant for food and customer service.

Not up to usual standard. Starters cold and onion rings awful. Main ok but naan not as hot as should have been. We order every week and this has been the worst so far.

Visited the Jahangir with family. Very welcoming, and pleasant surroundings. We had various curry’s. I had Chicken Tikka Jeera, which was amazing. The other curries were also excellent. Can’t wait to return.

Fui a comer el martes por la noche con mi esposa y mis hijos. El servicio fue fantástico y la comida aún mejor. El mejor restaurante indio de Dundee sin duda alguna. Puede ser un poco más caro que otros restaurantes, pero la calidad brilla y vale la pena. Con el 30% de descuento teníamos 50 años, pero teníamos 2 rondas de refrescos y extras como popadoms y naan de cebolla y ajo. Volveremos y definitivamente lo recomiendo.

Ha sido dos veces en las últimas semanas y en ambas ocasiones nos ha encantado la comida. Curry muy sabroso y varios panes naan diferentes, todos muy buenos y de un tamaño decente.El personal es servicial y agradable (aparte de la señora muy baja que nunca parece sonreír y se ve de mal humor todo el tiempo).Mesas bien dispuestas y baños muy limpios y modernos.Sin duda volveremos.

Recomendado por un taxista, visitamos este restaurante en nuestra última noche en Dundee con amigos. La comida era de primera calidad. El personal y la decoración también eran de muy alto nivel. Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra comida y apreciamos el personal amable y servicial. Muy recomendable

Tuvimos una comida familiar fantástica aquí para la hora del almuerzo. Gran servicio, camarero divertido e ingenioso. Personal muy atento. La comida fue hermosa, muy fresca y sabrosa. Viajé por una estancia y reservé en el restaurante para una comida familiar. Al entrar, la anfitriona fue genial y se aseguró de que nos sintiéramos devorados con respecto al proceso de COVID. La comida era increíble y no nos podemos quejar, incluso a mi hijo de 2 años le encantó todo. El camarero fue genial y nos dio pistas sobre dónde visitar y conversó amistosamente mientras seguía las reglas de distanciamiento social. Volveremos sinceramente, la experiencia y la comida nos dejaron de buen humor para comenzar nuestro viaje.

We’ve had curry from here in the past, but this time we were very disappointed. Curries were very watery, naan bread didn’t taste fresh, and onion chutney was poor quality. Won’t be ordering again unfortunately.

Food was really good and delivery was on time and delivery girl was pleasant. Only thing was that the chips were missing from the order. I didn't phone to complain because there was enough food anyway, I would order again but would mention that the chips were missing and ask if they could double check that the order was complete this time

First time ordering food from here. Other restaurants and take aways have been a bit more tasty, spicy and flavourful but we both enjoyed what we had. Really appreciate the service being offered and THANKS to the great delivery guy who delivered our meals.

The food that did arrive was very good but there was missing poppadoms, mango chutney and 2 servings of rice. Hardly worth complaining on the phone during lockdown but a response to my email direct to the restaurant wouldve been nice.Ended up cooking micro rice and reheating all the food,

Always on time, always good. The food is absolutely heavenly and if I could, I would eat it everyday.

Delivery driver very apologetic . There was a huge increase in deliveries due to people self isolating due to covid-19 virus. When food arrived was still hot and as delicious as ever. In situations like this we have to accept delays.

We received a gift voucher from the owners after there was a mix up with our Christmas day home delivery although the xmas day meal was excellent , there was a mix up and it was delivered late . Anyway we decided to use the voucher and go for a meal last night , everything was absolutely perfect , the staff were really nice and the food and beer was excellent. There was no problem at all with the voucher and the owner even came out and spoke to us which I thought was a really nice gesture. Definitely and ten out of ten and really looking forward to going back again . Well done Jahangir.

Food 50 minutes late, they did phone to say on way but was still a good while after that before it came Food really tasty but pretty cold so had to microwave it Use this place a lot but probably won’t be again anytime soon

Clean, warm and comfortable restaurant with big Koi pond in centre. Plentiful portions and great tasting food. Rose wine was lovely too. Definitely a place to revisit.

Dined here last night with my husband. Fantastic restaurant. Friendly, quick service. Food was brilliant and lots of vegetarian options which is what we wanted. The place is spotlessly clean. Will definitely be back.

Fresh, hot food, served quickly and efficiently. Prices good. Made even better with Groupon. Naan breads are always great here.
