I had went to Agacan Turkish restaurant on perth road this evening to have a meal with a couple of friends and didn’t think I would need a reservation and could just take walk-ins only to be told they can give me and my friends 50 mins for a meal. Seriously, 50 minutes for a meal for a couple of people. I had spoken to the lady at the front desk about having only 50 minutes to eat our meal to which she said it hasn’t got nothing to do with them which is very strange as she is the manager in charge. Staff were being really rude and telling me to go away abruptly. VERY RUDE AND WILL NOT BE BACK ! no customers service at all

The Turkish Doner and Rice from Agacan blows most other takeaways out of the water in Dundee. Their browned onion fried rice is packed with flavour, and the doner meat itself is really tender, and tastes like a homemade mix blend of spices compared to what you’ll find anywhere else. Genuinely fantastic food spot, and would love to try more of their menu!

It's so overrated. I got some food from here about a month ago and am still suffering from what I had. Digestive issues started after the meal and have lasted up until now. The grilled meat was covered by black remains of charcoal, which may have caused the awful symptoms in my guts, not to mention the level of hygiene of the place and the workers, which didn't seem very inviting. I definitely wouldn't visit again.

Visually stunning, busy, smoky and exciting. Oh and the food is to die for. We had a table for 2 at Agacan booked later in the evening as this spot is incredibly popular. It had been recommended to me and for good reason, this was perfect. The restaurant itself is very intimate and close with an open kitchen so you can see and smell absolutely everything. A light haze from the grill filled the place which was honestly not a bad thing whatsoever. The walls... Actually everything (tables, chairs and bathrooms included), was covered in amazing hand painted artwork. The service was excellent, being attentive but also not overbearing. They were very friendly and the perfect amount of chatty. The food was for lack of a better word, f*cking delicious. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The menu is small, but they have perfected it. The balance of savoury and salty, fresh and funky was perfect. I could honestly recommend anything from here. The price shocked me too. 3 courses for 2 was just under £60, including drinks. I was blown away by this place. I will be back many more times. Thank you Agacan!

It’s not often I give 5 stars, but this is easily a six. The restaurant itself is very small which gives it quite an intimate feel. The building inside and out is decorated with interesting art work. The menu is kept relatively small focused around kebabs which keeps the food quality really high. We were served very quickly by the friendly waitresses. I had the Karisik kebab which is made up of donner, pillic, pirzola and kofte. My girlfriend had the pillic. All of the meat was incredible. Very well seasoned and absolutely delicious. The rice is also outstanding, the best rice I’ve ever tasted. Portions are massive too which make it good value for money, neither of us could actually finish our meal. The waitress did say they would also accommodate smaller meals (e.g. 1 kebab rather than two). My only minor criticism, and it’s probably more of a preference thing, is that the chilli sauce seems to have some yoghurt running through it it. Given a yoghurt sauce is also served, I would have preferred to just have a pure chilli sauce.

Brilliant. Friendly service, the team was attentive and fast. Decent drinks menu and brilliant food menu. The starters where served very quickly (5/10 mins) and tasted great. The mains where a good portion size and was good. - a word of advice, if you want the doner you should book your table reasonably early as it was sold out by the time we arrived.

Starters to share of Humas, Cacik, and Feta Cheese Salad, with pitta bread, all the starters were delicious. Three mains ordered, 2 different kebabs, which came with rice and salad and a pilic special ? all our food was delicious (see photos). I got a doggy bag as I couldn't finish mine. Our visit was very njoyable, I saw the cooking area from our table and the staff work very hard. Also witnessed the end of service tidy up, the chef was very thorough in his cleaning. What a disappointing experience. Been to this place many a time but last night was very poor. A place that used to be the jewel of the Perth road is more like a burgervan outside a football stadium. Ordered 2half donner half pilic and separate donner What we received was not what expected. No donner very little donner meat in the pilic meals and overloaded with rice. Once home and opened the meals we immediately contacted the restaurant only to be told that they put extra chicken in meals which was certainly wasn't the case it was like they had ran out of donner meat and just put more rice in the container . The girl on the phone didn'teven acknowledge the missing separate kebab . Time to find a new kebab takeaway in Dundee.

Booked this restaurant for a family meal, as it seemed to be popular. Only a very small seating area, which may have given the impression that it was well frequented. It is unique. Cash only accepted here though. Would have been nice if we were informed this at the time of booking, but we were directed to an ATM one minute along the street when paying the bill. As it is so small, and they also do take-aways, some of the plates were made up and were sitting on the counter. I started with the IMAM BAYILDI, = Stuffed Aubergine. I would have preferred it to have been freshly made. Unfortunately, it came pre-made straight out of the fridge. Too cold, = no taste. I followed this with KARASIK which is a mixture of Pilic, Sis Kofte, Pirzola and Doner kebab. It also had melted butter on the rice. Very little flavour, and twenty-four hours later I still had the after taste of the butter/grease in my mouth. Declined the one and only desert on offer. No doubt this seems to be popular for some unknown reason. Maybe we just were unlucky on the day, but this seems to be the norm. That said, first impressions count, and for a meal with little flavour, and being substantially overpriced, (including a can of coke at £2.50), we are extremely unlikely to return. Best to look elsewhere for better value/taste.

A novel experience. The "host" tells you what you should have, because you can't expect them to serve obscure menu items like Humus or Donner on a Friday evening at 8pm. He then follows you out haranguing you for having the outrageous cheek to question his ability to run a restaurant that can't keep it's menu open prime time Friday. I've been a customer of the Agacan since 1987, it has been one of my go to places. Not any more. Went to Milas on Whitehall Street, Staff were fantastic, food was lovely................like Agacan used to be.

This is our 7th trip to Scotland, second time in Dundee. We are on day 7 of this trip and we were looking for a different meal experience tonight. What a treat. It was a small restaurant but was a colorful and delicious experience. I have never gone to a Turkish restaurant before so I didn’t know what to expect. If you like lamb this is the place to go. They offer other meats but I was interested in all the lamb choices and didn’t really look at anything else. The portions were large so go hungry. Well worth trying. I wish I took a picture because our food looked just as good as it tasted. Our server was helpful in suggesting her favorites when we could not decide. I will definitely go back one day …

Visited here first time on Mother's Day and what have i been missing? Friendly staff and such terrific freshly cooked food. Place is quite small so i would advise you to book ahead, failing that they do a takeaway service too. Not much of drinks option, but as it is a Turkish Restaurant we went for the Efes, could have done with the bigger bottle though. Wine on offer and quite reasonably priced for, sell soft drinks too. Recommended by friends what to have, which glad of as too much choice. Went for ISKENDER – mixture of Pilic, Sis Kofte and Doner kebab covered with garlic yoghurt, chilli sauce and melted butter & hubby had PILIC SPECIAL – chicken chunks in garlic yoghurt, chilli sauce and melted butter on pitta bread squares. Was quite a lot to eat and managed to take away what was not eaten. Only issue was ventilation, came out smelling of cooked food like i had worked in Joes café for a week! Would definitely go back. Have attached some photos, but might have mixed up names of the food, but still delicious, give it a try you will not be disappointed!

Atmosphere: Arriving at this amazing looking restaurant is a great way to start the evening, with all of it being handpainted by an artist which creates a wonderful atmosphere and gives you a great vibe. It's a small restaurant, but I think that works well, you feel as if you're in a friends kitchen who's cooking for you. Overall a great atmosphere, and probably one of the best in Dundee in terms of look and aura. Service: Service at the restaurant was perfectly fine and as you'd expect, nothing much to talk about unless it's either extremely poor service or completely amazing. Food: I came expecting some amazing meat, and chose the doner & kofte mix, which comes on a bed of rice and a side salad. The doner was quite average, nothing that would excite the tastebuds too much, but not at all bad, just not as good as you might expect it to be, and this also goes for the kofte. The rice - and I'm no expert on Turkish style rice, was also fairly bland, and a little bit too soggy, nothing too bad, but you could tell it wasn't cooked to perfection. I also added both a yoghurt sauce and a chilli sauce, as it would be wrong not to, both were great sauces and accompaniments for the meat. Drinks: I ordered a beer, and Turkish coffee, both were perfectly fine, again nothing to write home about, but I'm glad I got them as it's a Turkish beer I've never had and my first time tasting Turkish coffee, and if I were to go back, I'd likely order that again. Value: It was £16.50 for the D&K and an additional £1 & £1.50 for the sauces, which I think is a little overpriced, and for that price, I was expecting a little bit more taste. The coffee was £1.60 and the beer £3.60 (not 100% sure, but it was within 10p or so). Overall, the value isn't bad, maybe just a tad more than what I feel taste-wise I can get for the same price somewhere else, but I'd reckon others would be perfectly happy with the price, and that's not to say I'm not, again, I just think It's a tad too much. Overall: Definitely worth a shot and perfect for dates, anniversaries etc. The restaurant is a beauty to behold, and a nice little change from the typical menu items.

Agacan doesn’t look like much from the outside - as you enter there’s a hatch for takeaway & through another door is the cosy little restaurant with vibrant decorations. Most importantly the food’s excellent, portions are so big that a main course alone was more...

Got a takeaway from this awesome place for the first time last week. I think we tried everything on the menu! Hands down, it is among the best quality and enjoyable food I've had in a long time. The meat was tender and moist. The salad bright, fresh, and fragrant. The spices and sauces were flavoursome and not overpowering. The kids loved it all too. Thank you to Csaba for preparing the amazing food.

Acabo de visitar este restaurante esta noche. . . entorno encantador . . El dueño ha pintado las paredes y las mesas. . . Él es muy artístico y la música turca te hace sentir que estás de vuelta en este fantástico lugar. . .

We went there after seeing the reviews on couple of food magazines. The atmosphere was so nice and we were told that they change the decoration every month. It is a very small authentic Turkish place. It was very similar to what I would have at back home. Highly recommended.

5 / 5 for service and food Had 2 macaroni and cheese with chips and very reasonable price too. Less than a £5. Only issue was so much cheese it was just too much for my daughter..

Great Food and Amazing Experience! Had an awesome time here! The food was delicious, and the staff was super friendly. One tip - if you’re a fan of spice, be sure to let them know when you order. They’ll make it extra spicy if that’s your thing! Overall, a great spot for flavorful meals and a fantastic atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

We booked a table here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary whilst we were staying at the adjacent suites. The restaurant is in a converted mill building and very spacious and modern in design. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and we were quickly seated . When discussing the menu staff went to great lengths to say how good certain dishes were . We decided to order the roast dinner and the chicken and ham pie. It was a bit of a wait for the meal especially when there was only one other table occupied. When the meal arrived it proved to be disappointing , the beef in the roast dinner was very chewy , the pie was mainly ruff puff pastry and little filings and the turnips served with both meals were so solid you could not stick a fork into them and they were inedible . When we raised this with the staff one said they were onions? and the other said oh sorry that's a shame I will raise it with the chef. We decided to order dessert my husband ordered a sticky toffee pudding which was good , and I ordered a trifle panacotta . Turned out to be a panacotta , with jelly on the bottom and sprinkles on the top. More like a school pudding than a two rosette restaurant meal . The other annoying thing was the repetitive "lift" music being played loudly throughout the evening. Cost nearly £80 for a bread & oil starter for 1, 2 courses and 2 small glasses of wine. I think the restaurant thinks it is better than it actually is.
