Popped in for a drink as we were staying in another hotel in village . Hotel being renovated just now . Looks like it will be great when finished. Loved history of the place, beautiful grand staircase. We had good chat with barman who let us try their own beer/cider made on site. Hoping to go stay there when renovations are finished.

My girlfriend & I got a bottle of coke each, costing £2.15. I got a cheese and onion panini (served with salad, crisps & coleslaw) which cost £6.70 and a portion of chips which cost £2.60. My girlfriend got the Large Breakfast with Tea which cost £6.20. In my opinion, the coleslaw could’ve been nicer but other than that - the food was nice. My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her food and she thought it was great value for money. The staff were so friendly from the minute we walked in the door. We were served very quickly and food brought out in a timely manner. There was tomato ketchup, brown sauce and vinegar on the tables - I asked for salad cream or mayonnaise (they had both), but I opted for salad cream and wasn’t charged for this. The cafe takes cash or card, but there is a note to say they prefer cash. I would suggest for them to put a menu on their window for people outside to look at because we had to go in and ask to look at their menu before deciding if we were eating there or not. Overall, we would definitely return.

I have reviewed this Restaurant as part of the Galloway Arms Hotel, so this will hopefully clarify the earlier reviews. We have been on a number of occasions since the last review and we have not been disappointed with the food at the Nine Mile Bar & Bistro within The Galloway Arms Hotel. On this visit we chose two times Two Course Specials priced at £14.50 each. The Starters were battered Chicken Goujons, which was quite a large portion and Tempura coated Prawns. Both dishes were very good and the Chicken alone would have been enough for my Wife as a main course. (Small Eater). My Wife had the Beef Stroganoff and I had the Salmon in Dill sauce for the main courses. Normally, we tend to have just the main courses and therefore we had to take home the chips, which were provided along with the Stroganoff half & half. A pint of Moretti is £3.50 and a large Chardonnay is £5.00 and the total bill without tip came to £37.50. The surroundings in the Hotel's main bar is simple, but cozy. A 10 minute drive from Dumfries gets you to this Hotel and I think that it is worth this very small effort.More

Staying at the nearby Dornoch Caravan and Camping site we walked into Dornoch for a meal. We chose The Coach House because it is dog friendly. We received a warm welcome by staff and locals alike along with their dogs. Our haddock and chips arrived promptly and were delicious. However, our Westie started making a fuss. One of the locals and then a member of staff offered to “dog sit” so we could enjoy our meal. Exceptional! Thanks to all involved.

We came in for a coffee but we were presented with glorified hot milk. My father and I ordered a cappuccino but I've had better instant coffee and my daughters latte was essentially white in colour. None of the drinks had an ounce of coffee flavour despite that being the entire focal point of the shop. Furthermore, the selection of cakes and sweet treats were poor. I got a chocolate orange tray bake which was edible, but lacked in flavour.

Small cafe with friendly staff. Good coffee and had an amazing bacon and cheese croissant. Worth a visit for some takeaway coffee or if you can manage to get a seat and people watch

nice music and very quite place to have a drink and enjoy a great chat with friends, if you are walking around in the heart of the city.

my friend and myself were going to pop into bb muffins for a muffin and a drink, while looking at the muffins we noticed one muffin was absolutely coved in fruit flies. the muffin in question had fresh fruit and cream in it and my friend and i were quite frankly disgusted. we let the young lad who was working there know about the fly problem and he said “there’s always flies in there” and then laughed. my friend and i walked away to find somewhere else to have food, we walked past about 15-20 minutes later and the muffins were still there and been served to customers. we are extremely disappointed as this is one of our favourite places to get a sweet treat and a drink.

At 10am the floor was dirty from the day before. When I pointed this out to the manager he said the cleaner hadn't shown up. Clearly it was beneath him to sweep the floor himself, takes a couple of minutes. Not acceptable for a place charging £7.35 for coffee and a cake
