My friend found a good rating on Tripadvisor, so we decided to take the ride for lunch after attending church at the Dumfries Baptist Church. It's a lovely restaurant filled with many American memorabilia. The service was superb, especially our last server(can't recall his name), but he was very attentive and very friendly. He actually took the time to stop and chat. We both ordered the lamb dinner with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, herbed sausage stuffing, and mixed fresh veggies. All was delicious. The only complaint was that the lamb was a bit dry and tough. Other than that everything was perfect! We topped the meal off with sharing a hot fudge sundae with crushed Reeses peanut butter cups! It was a great way to finish the meal and well worth the trip!

Was recently visiting my family in Scotland for my birthday and we went to Swagath.
I've been here a couple times before and it never disappoints. Amazing food and exceptional service.
They went above and beyond to make my birthday dinner special.
I just paid over £24 for a coffee a can of fanta and 2 ciabatta with chicken. It was £4 extra to sit in! There was no extra garish for the additional cost of sittng in. Hot takeaway food is always subject to VAT, served in or out. So why the extra £4? Regardless, charging £9.50 for the ciabatta I had was outrageous. Service was a bit disinterested and frankly I wish I'd gone somewhere else. I feel ripped off but I'm sure they can justify their prices. I work in the industry and have my own place. I understand the challenges of rising costs but there's a limit and you surpassed it today.
Perfect 'old man' pub that has updated with modern times. Beautiful traditionally furnished bar. Luxiouriously decorated women's toilet that they eventually were added during the 2000's. No food but you can bring in takeaway pakora from Shahed's next door.
Dress code - RFC tops at your own peril! 😂
Went here for a lunch. I had salmon pasta. It was good, pretty authentic but was missing a few notes as for my taste. The creamy one was much better. Good house white wine.
Went in as I was passing and waiting to meet friends in another location
It was unfortunate it is closing down as I had a very nice pint in a luvly atmosphere.
Enjoyed a lovely tasty lunch at this friendly little cafe. Food - I had the Lentil soup with a cheese scone - was delicious. Service was spot on. The two gentleman serving were welcoming, friendly and genuine. I loved that they paid special attention to their regular customers referring to them by name and being attentive. An absolute gem of a place. Well done to all who work there.
Had freshly made Carrot & Corriander soup which was so tasty.
Then vegetable curry with poppadoms flat bread and rice. Also had fish and chips which was super.
It was top class... served by such a charming, friendly couple.
Highly recommended...
Thank you!
Nasi Lemak is the national dish of Malaysia, so a decent test of a Malaysian restaurant. No Malaysian restaurant would ever serve chicken breast with this dish, but Satu Satu does. The other option is fried chicken - the chicken is nice, but its not fried on the bone, again not Malaysian style. If you do go with the fried chicken option then curry sauce costs extra! The dish is supposed to come with sambal, but whatever is served here is not sambal (looks like a Chinese chilli brand i have in the cupboard, out of a jar). No Ikan Bilis was served either. Take it off the menu and stop attempting Malaysian food.
Also, have a look at the green wallpaper on the back wall - it is literally covered in grease and dust and a very strong smell of oil throughout the cafe.
This used to be a great Malaysian restaurant, but no longer.
Loch Morlich is a beautiful spot in the Cairngorms with a rare sandy beach, clear waters, and stunning mountain views. Great for kayaking, paddleboarding, walking, or just relaxing. Good facilities nearby and easy parking. A must-visit if you're in the Highlands
