The Willow in Edinburgh, City of

Went in as I was passing and waiting to meet friends in another location It was unfortunate it is closing down as I had a very nice pint in a luvly atmosphere.

Delicious food. Such a shame this place is closing down.

Food was excellent an 95% of staff were amazing. Unfortunately we wont be back as one of the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional and i left with food still to eat because this staff member was so rude. Spoiled a lovely family evening.

Great pub, with good food. It's a shame Edinburgh council have given permission for it to be knocked down to put up sub-standard student accommodation, without any social housing attached.

The only reason why I came to the Willow was that, beforehand, I got lost in a nearby wood... with willows all around. The woman who gave me directions told me about the place, mentioning by the way that the trees all around me were actual willows. I took that as a sign and decided to head there, in need of some food, battery, rest and warmth.. and I couldn't have found a better place to spend the end of my day. The people working there tended to each and every one of those needs and I can't thank them enough for their warmth and excellent service ! I loved it so much that I spent most of the evening there. The music was awesome, food was even greater.. and there is also a SIGN that I love there. 👀 Cheers to you, guys ! Keep up the good work, as they say 🫶

Lunch with friends during the week. The food was very good, as was the service. Nice wee touch being given tablet with the bill too! Would definitely visit again.

Had a great time in here for 2 minutes chatting to the Invisible Man behind the bar. Decided after waiting all this time for a member of staff to even appear I’d go elsewhere and found another place where the bartenders can actually be bothered serving their customers.

This gastro pub is becoming a firm favourite whenever I'm in the area. Friendly, helpful staff, interesting decor and good selection of drinks. The food is far superior to typical pub favourites featuring imaginative dishes using seasonal ingredients.

We spent a few days in Edinburgh with my family, our Airbnb was very close so we went there for a meal. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. My husband said the burger was probably the best he's ever had so did my children. Lovely vegan and vegetarian options as well. The chef is really talented and I am not easily impressed! The food was imaginative and well prepared the beer was delicious so we ended up spending all our evenings there. Great sized portions as well for hungry teenagers! Can't recommend it enough! Well done everyone keep up the great work !

We were here for a family meal and had a really enjoyable evening. Food was great (winter salad was a highlight). Service was very friendly and questions answered quickly. It was a busy Saturday service and the veggie main was sold out. Would be nice for there to be more veggie options (other than loaded fries). We will be back, thanks!

Only in for a drink, but disappointed to see lack of 'beers.' Only lagers and IPAs. Surely room for at least one dark ale?

Glad to have this place as our local as it is a fantastic pub. The staff always greet you in a friendly manner and are happy to have a laugh with you. The food menu is well presented and with good choice without being overly packed with items, and the food itself always comes hot and fresh. It is also dog-friendly which is handy for us. All in all a brilliant pub.

All the usual pub favorites served with something just that little bit above usual pub fare. If you want pub grub in a really chilled out surroundings give this a go. All the food options sound amazing and tasted just as good. The staff were helpful and attentive. Served a table of 7 in good time. Willing to amend the menu slightly for my yonger son not liking spice on his chicken wings. Disabled access was ok, ground floor access. Close parking is challenging however well worth it.

Excellent food with an interesting menu reasonably priced. Friendly accommodating staff. Dog friendly. The main downsides are the lack of parking though it is on a bus route, and while there is disabled access it's not suitable for a wheelchair user.

Christmas lunch for 40 folk. Excellent service, excellent food, everyone happy. Great value.

Honestly, what more could I possibly say about The Willow? The bar staff were incredibly friendly and made great drinks. The food was top notch, and the menu was a perfect mix of hearty homely pub grub and 5 star. And the puppers were most certainly a welcome surprise

The new menu at the Wilow was not a disappointment. Mitchell took the time to come and speak to me ( i am the worst for picking meals ) Fish cakes starters, and then Chikcn Katsu for me and Buffalo Chicken Burger for Kirsten was great. Sundays are made for great food and great company and the Willow delivers on both! Ritchie and his team - were friendly fun and add to the happy vibe that makes a visit to the Willow, a Sunday treat. Child-friendly, Dog friendly! Will be back for more

The Willow is next door to where my friend works and is conveniently located for a lunchtime catch up. As well as the modern interior, which is spacious and spotlessly clean, there is also an outside beer garden. The lighting is soft, background music unobtrusive and the staff friendly and attentive. I could easily spend all day here. This is my second visit to the Willow and the reasonably priced lunch menu does not disappoint. We were cold so the lovely Ulrika served up a pot of tea whilst we perused the extensive lunch menu. The soup of the day was potato and onion. Didn't sound very appetising but when it came accompanied by generous hunks of bread and creamy butter it was delicious and filling. Can also recommend the loaded fries. My husband and I wanted to share a platter as we are not big eaters. Ulrika once again came to our rescue with small side plates to make the sharing easier. On a previous visit I had the scampi and fries which again I can recommend. Food is delicious, freshly cooked and presented well. If I had a pub as good as this on my doorstep I would probably eat out every day. When we had finished out meal we were offered the chance to peruse the dessert menu and only the lack of room in our stomachs prevented us from doing so. The extensive menu choice for each course as well as a myriad of extras and side dishes would take some beating. I also noticed items on the menu which took account of food intolerances and special diets or were aimed at children. I think that most people visiting this establishment, whatever their dietary needs, would probably find something to eat here. The laid back atmosphere and good food meant we probably stayed a bit longer but unfortunately work beckoned and we had to leave. As previously mentioned, the staff were very friendly and helpful, they really contributed to a wonderful lunch experience and were efficient and respectful. I wanted to make particular mention of Ulrika who I felt was genuinely keen to make sure we had everything we needed. I sincerely wish the owners and staff every success and hope to visit again for lunch before the end of the year.

Poor service. Me and my husband went in for a drink after paying our respects to the Queen. We realised it was busier than they expected so we were willing to wait. When we entered the manager on duty asked us to take a seat and do them a favour and not approach the bar, wait for them to come to us to take our order. We waited for 30 minutes, and were actively ignored by all staff despite sitting at an empty table with menus in front of us and trying to get staff attention as they walked past. A few customers while we were in there had approached the bar but we're asked to return to their seats to have their order taken. In this time we witnessed 2 more customers enter, sit at the bar and order and receive a drink straight away. After seeing this we decided to leave without ordering anything. Appreciate they were busy but don't ask customers to do one thing and then ignore them. Won't be recommending.

Cracking venue made by cracking owners and staff. Made to always feel welcomed. Really care about their regulars, local people and new people alike. Doors are open to all demographics including families. Thanks always for making us feel like a part of your community.

We absolutely loved this place! Friendliest service I have seen in years, fantastic food, fantastic drinks.

My partner and I visited on Saturday along with another couple and their baby. The staff were more than attentive and checked on our table regularly even after we had food. Both the cocktails and the food were perfect (I had the haddock and hand cut chips). None of us could fault one single thing. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend to everyone!

Quiz night with friends...well organised and good fun..friends ordered food..they didn't have long to wait...food well presented..all said yummy!

Disclaimer: I am a local to the Meadowbank neighbourhood, and as such might be biased towards my local pub. I love this place. There is a good selection of drinks on offer, a great beer garden and wonderful staff. In particular I can't speak highly enough of how friendly and helpful the staff are - honourable mention to the bar manager Richard who goes above and beyond to make this a welcoming watering hole. The food is tasty and generally good value for money.

I am visiting Edinburgh for a week and I ate here on my first night with my mum and family friend. We ordered ciders and they were fantastic. We were able to taste the cider first, which was great. The service was fantastic. The staff were really friendly...really reminded me of the Scottish friendliness and charm. I had the lamb steak with potato, broccoli and blue cheese sauce. This was lovely!!! My mum and friend had the rib eye, which was cooked as requested by was chewy. However, their chips and sauce was nice. The atmosphere was great!
