Redwood Restaurant in Dundee City

Ordered the breaded haddock and chips,worst meal ina longtime, especially as it was not cheap and looked like a half portion.was overcooked and dry,peas were cold ,chips were under fish to make it look a lot.my friend ordered soup and sandwiches which were terribly sparse of filling,brown bread was cheap.Al lin all pretty rebbish, won't be back

Very disappointing dinner. Difficult to see what actual cooking was done. I had the spicy bean burger. It was obviously not freshly made. Felt like it came out of a pack. Small amount of guacamole and two tortilla chips served with frozen lattice chips. Dessert was shop bought meringue with pistachio icecream with passion fruit sauce- from a bottle. Not great.

Relaxing great view over the water.Food has improved so much for years ago The Restuaranthas certainly upped its performance.

Love the invercarse hotel go here at least 3 times per year love the people the place and all associated with this hotel

My family and extended family visit here regularly and you always get a good feed! On this occasion, we booked a table for 9, including 3 children under 9 years old and an adult wheelchair user. This was no problem for the restaurant which is very spacious, welcoming and modern. The staff were great and attentive throughout. The food was delicious and the children's meals were fresh. The sea bass on this occasion was very attractively presented and tasted as good as it looked. I love their battered haddock and scampi combo. Great value for money and you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

The meal was excellent mushroom soup had strong flavour really tasty the combination of haggis turnips tatties with peppercorn sauce was delicious and the staff are always alert and cheery ..

Such a lovely relaxing evening .. we felt spoilt and well cared for .. all the staff were friendly and attentive .. the food was very good. The haddock and chips were praised by my son. My hubby couldn’t stop eating his mound of meat as it was so tender and melt-in-the-mouth delicious but after the large pile of cauliflower bites he had for starter, maybe he should have! My soup and Chicken Kiev were yummy! My son’s fiancée was pleased to have two starters instead of a main .. and was still too full of dessert like the rest of us! Thank you .. we enjoyed our evening

My wife and I were staying in the hotel for a couple of nights. I wanted to go out and find something interesting to eat, but she (recovering from an operation) wanted a no fuss and no pain option. I'm afraid it was as I feared - efficient enough but the food was bland and generic. Neither of us eat meat, so it's possible that the meat options are much better, but I would be surprised if it was the case. It may be that I had an especially unsatisfying experience because I chose the vegan option which was Lentil, Sweet Potato & Cauliflower Dhal, Coconut, Puppodum & Dairy Free Curried Yoghurt - I asked them to do me some rice since it seemed incomplete, which they did, so that's a plus point, although it's hard to understand why that wouldn't be offered anyway. The dal was pleasant enough to start with but the sweet blandness became unpleasant as I went on and the curried dairy-free yoghurt was nasty. J was content with the seafood platter, except that the fishcake was just a faintly fishy potato cake. The value for money was poor for such a mediocre meal - the bill was over £50 and a few nights later back home we paid only a fiver more for a meal that was streets ahead of this. I don't think there's anything within walking distance as an alternative for dinner, so you would have to go out actively looking for an alternative. Sorry, I don't like doing negative reviews but this was my experience.

We were warmly welcomed and quickly seated, then a 25 minute wait for our soup starter, which after serving was quickly removed as it should have gone to another table, after 5 minutes the soup finally arrived. Covid regulations were being observed

I stayed at the hotel so decided to eat at the restaurant twice. I am always a little bit apprehensive eating at hotel restaurants, I really like to go out and explore the city. But it was a very hectic week and I was too tired to do so. And I have to say it was probably one of the best decisions on this trip. The restaurant is quite large and boosts an amazing views. The food was really delicious and obviously home cooked, no microwave in sight!! The seafood platter is quite large and everything on it was delicious. It was served on a wooden board in the shape of fish - I thought that was quite funny :) The staff always made sure that I had everything I needed, very friendly and attentive. I would happily eat here again and try the rest of the menu :) I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

Having been disappointed with other eateries locally that we could walk to, we decided to try this restaurant in the Invercarse hotel. I have to say from the moment we arrived the service was outstanding. Plenty of staff available and all very pleasant. On arrival the drinks waiter asked if we would like a drink whilst looking at the menu, this was delivered promptly. The food was well cooked and presented and extremely good value. The wine was well priced and good. The venue is a little sparse, but all in all we had a lovely evening and will return. In short, I would recommend a visit here, being in a hotel it isn't somewhere that one might think of going, but it is well worth a visit.

I had macaroni cheese and chips - large bowl of macaroni, and a few chips. Food is decent fayre, and portions seem good. Not a lot of choice to the menu (food or bar-wise). Food is very reasonably priced. Service was good, and not over fussy.

Food is ok, but don't expect anything exciting. Tables are far too small for anything other than 2 people; However, service is efficient and polite.

Lovely meal at Redwood Restaurant tonight,plentiful,fresh and piping hot.Very pleasant chatty and helpful bar and waiting staff. Great value and varied menu,first visit here definitely won’t be the last, would recommend to friends.

Nuestra familia ha disfrutado de excelentes comidas y ambiente en este restaurante durante varios años. Como parte de un hotel, también hemos estado aquí para el almuerzo de Navidad en el salón de actos donde adultos y niños han sido entretenidos por su mago y Santa Claus.La comida del restaurante es sabrosa y buena relación calidad-precio. El menú infantil es variado y fresco. El personal siempre es amable y cordial. Son muy acogedores para los carritos de bebé, los usuarios de sillas de ruedas, grupos más grandes, etc. El área de comedor renovada ha mejorado la atmósfera para aprovechar las excelentes vistas del Tay.Esperamos volver aquí en los próximos años.¡Disfrutar!

El hotel Invercarse me ayudó a planear una comida sorpresa para celebrar un cumpleaños especial para mi esposa. No tuve ningún problema para reservar una mesa para 20 y el personal nos ayudó a hacer una sorpresa. El personal fue excelente en cuidarnos y todos disfrutamos de una agradable comida relajante. Un agradecimiento especial a Alana que me mantuvo completamente informado durante la planificación.

Visited the restaurant for dinner whilst staying at the invercarse hotel. Attentive staff, decent food though the spicy fries served with the burger were too spicy for my liking.

Ate here as we were staying in the hotel. The food was well prepared and of good quality. Staff were attentive and not overbearing, Pleasant view out of the window. All in a nice evening meal.

Enjoyed Redwood Restaurant. Our meal on the Friday night was good and the breakfasts were first class.

This hotel has been refurbished in a good way recently. Had lunch here but did not stay overnight. Lunch was very good. Wide choice on menu. Waitress attentive. The food was well presented and very enjoyable.

First visit since the restaurant was refurbished and it has been a success. Great service and food. Hoping to go back soon.

Disfrutamos de un delicioso almuerzo hoy en el recientemente renovado salón Redwood. Recomiendo especialmente la fuente de marisco. Los comensales también disfrutaron de zanahoria, cilantro y sopa de coco, eglefino y patatas fritas. Precioso trío de helados con galletas de mantequilla. Todos los platos bellamente presentados. Hermosas vistas desde nuestra mesa junto a la ventana, incluso mejor ahora que el nivel del restaurante se ha elevado.

The food was amazing, there was plenty of choice and the service was great. I had dinner and breakfast and both were very tasty.

Un grupo grande de nosotros (unos 30) había reservado una noche en el hotel para una comida de grupo. Nos informaron que para un grupo tan grande, la única opción sería una cena tipo buffet ya que no podían acomodarse para nosotros. El precio fue de 20 por persona. Para eso, cada persona recibió una rebanada de jamón, carne de res y un trozo de salmón del tamaño de mi palma, más ensalada de pasta, ensalada verde y papas hervidas. La comida se repartió cuidadosamente para asegurarse de que cada persona recibiera algo, ya que solo había un plato por persona. Sin recambios de ensaladas ni nada. El valor total de la comida era tal vez 3 libras, lo que hizo extremadamente caro. Cuando algunos de nosotros pedimos postre o café, nos dijeron que o todos teníamos que tenerlo o ninguno de nosotros, y que, de todos modos, deberíamos haber reservado con anticipación, ya que no pudieron entregar la noche. La discusión subsiguiente con el gerente sobre el mal servicio arruinó la atmósfera. Al final, recibimos algunos cafés y chocolates y un plato de piezas de queso cheddar, para un adicional de 3 para los que lo quisieran. Mientras que la comida (lo que había) era buena y el personal hizo todo lo posible, no volvería, la relación calidad-precio era demasiado pobre.

Restaurante en el hotel agradable, muy rápido por el personal amable, la comida estaba bien, tomate y sopa de lentejas era bonito, carne, patatas fritas estaba bien sobresaliente era una basura.

Yo y mis amigos comer aquí frecuentemente cada 6 semanas, tuvimos una comida muy decepcionante la última noche. Sobresaliente, patatas fritas era incomible carne mal cocida, lubina estaba bien, pero la piel no crujientes servidos con vegetales que estaban cocidas tailandés y sin sabor, así como el arroz. Camareras nunca llegó cerca de nosotros, nunca preguntó cómo estaba nuestra comida e incluso cuando la placa volvimos con bistec sobresaliente de más de la mitad de la comida aún, camarera nunca reconoció. Se está buscando un nuevo lugar para reunirse la próxima vez.

Dropped in to the Redwood Restaurant with my family prior to attending a show in the ballroom. Service wasn't outstanding. Waitress told us she couldn't recommend a dish as she hadn't tried them. My seafood platter was pretty basic and uninspiring. Mixture of hot and...

Dundee non offre molto in centro quindi abbiamo cenato in hotel. Ottimo il filetto di angus tenero e saporito. Servizio gentile tavoli in po' stretti. Prezzo normale.

Were staying in the hotel overnight so thought we would eat in the restaurant. Very disappointed as the menu was not inspiring at all. Read more like pub grub which is fine if that is what you were expecting. We were expecting a much more interesting menu. Would have been better if they had even had a steak on the menu and not so much of the fried fish and chips (in various forms), mixed grill, beefburger. The plus side was that the choice of wines was good as was the service.

Excellent views of the Tay estuary from the glass frontage make eating here a surprisingly lovely experience. Staff were bright and friendly and the food - especially the fish-based starters & mains - were really tasty. I'd happily eat here again when in Dundee, even if I wasn't resident in the hotel.

This is a restaurant inside the Invercarse Hotel on Perth Road Dundee, now a Best Western. Been briunging my Mum here for years.Decent quality surroundings, good decor and a small menu. It caters to residents and visitors both. As it was near Christmas it had a Festive Fare menu but we opted for the standard one which is mainly sandwiches, toasties and soups.Good quality Macaroni Cheese and a nice lentil and spicy tomato soup. Actually the soup was truly excellent. Ice cream to finish. No complaints but nothing to stand out from the norm. A bit of noise in the restaurant as the floorboards thump (or is it the staff walking heavily?)Plenty of parking, especially at the rear of the hotel.

I took business guests who had come up from Bristol that morning there for lunch. We arrived at 1.35 to be greeted by surly and lazy staff who could not fit us in -- despite the fact that we could see empty tables. A funeral party were coming in to use the adjoining room and the staff could not be bothered. In the darkest days of the Cold War I received more cheerful welcomes in godforsaken hotels behind the Iron Curtain. It really says something when the KGB could teach the Invercarse staff how to be charming and polite.Dundee's reputation was saved by the Landmark just down the road --- where I noticed a refugee member of staff from the Invercarse is now employed. She was obviously too polite, cheerful and helpful to stick being employed at the Gulag up the road where the microwave rules.We had fresh food in the airy conservatory at the Landmark -- excellent. I have encountered negative vibes from the staff at the Invercarse before. I will not be encountering it again.

We had high tea here with 2 toddlers and the staff were great, very friendly and provided us with extra toast for the wee ones with an offer of milk or water for them too. High tea was good value and the food was good. Will be back to try the normal menu.

i went for a xmas party night with friends and price we paid for meal and tickets was quite high compared to other places we have been meal was not good and menu disappointing wouldnt return wasnt place to enjoy a night out

I've eaten here many times in the evenings and at lunch.Also at conferences where a buffet meal has been served.I've never been disappointed yet.Just had lunch this week and it was excellent.Poached haddock on mash with broccoli and cheese sauce..fabulous Others had the liver and mash ..almost licked the plate..And a very posh burger which was demolished..We had a 2 year old with us who I may say was very well behaved but the staff couldn't have been kinder nor more attentive to him.In fact I've got to commend the staff as they are brilliant..please keep up the standard as it's really appreciated by customers.This is the type of food I want not fast ,cheap frozen rubbishWe'll done

We had been going to the Invercarse for food for years, but can't remember it being so poor. The restaurant is lovely - views onto lawns and redwood trees, the staff were pleasant and quite efficient. The food, however, was disappointing: the menu was uninspiring, basic pub grub, and the kitchen made very little effort in presentation, but the breaded haddock that was ordered had been overcooked and was very unappetising - I thought I was taking the healthy option not having batter but I wish I'd rethought! They did bring me another quite quickly but I would have been ashamed to let that out of the kitchen.
