I have visited twice, both times as take away. Croissants are amazingly good, my son says pain au chocolat was delicious. Will definitely return again to sample some of the other delectable-looking goodies.

Very unwelcoming. Arrived and all tables full - one out 8 tables reserved for staff dining…!?! Asked if I should just stand and wait for one and was told it was up to me but probably wouldn’t be quick. Once we were seated, had to ask for table to be cleaned - ended up moving plates ourselves and got a rude look and half-hearted effort at wiping the table even though I was there with a 3 year old and new born baby. So had to clean that myself too. Staff eating pizzas in the restaurant even though not available to customers, no menus and having to ask staff multiple times for stuff as they all huddled together in a corner almost hiding from customers. Cakes were ok but wouldn’t return due to lack of customer service. Shame as place looks nice.

I gave this place 3 attempts over a few months before writing a review .I am very disappointed by the level of cleanliness and the poor staff attitude. Indeed if I owned this place I would be rethinking the way it is run. The tables are not cleaned regularly and the young girls serving need to up their customer service. I will not be paying for the overpriced bread , even if it is good which it can be.

Heard really good review about this bakery but was very disappointed. Walked in, but there was a strange and unwelcoming atmosphere. We were looking at the bagels in the fridge, and about to pick one up when a staff member came from the back, barged in front of us and removed all the bagels from the fridge (maybe they wanted for their lunch?). We then went to counter - again, very little recognition. We ordered - paid extra to sit in. Everything came in brown bags and coffee super small. The order was wrong. We have a savoury bagel - was tasteless - and an almond croissant which was good. We bought bread which was good. To reiterate, staff were poor and food was ok/poor. Would stick to bakery essentials - bread, croissants…if you want to risk it but I will not be back.

What an amazing place for breakfast, coffee and cake or a quick stop. It was a lovely summer day when we arrived. There is a small amount of our food seating with benches but inside they had opened the doors to let in fresh air. Loved watching the goods getting made. Croissant was enormous . Coffee was delicious and staff so friendly. What a lovely wee find. I would go out my way to go here.

Stopped here for a wee snack and a loaf whilst I was out this way. What a nice place this is. Good selection of healthier condiments. It was nice to see the bone broth which I buy online because I can’t get it anywhere. They also sell fresh filled bagels in the refrigerator. The main obvious attraction is the baked goods. They have lots of pastries to choose from. I opted for the cinnamon and cardamom bun and the almond croissant. I also got the sunflower and linseed sourdough loaf. The bun was awesome. Excellent texture and brilliant subtle flavour. Easily the best cinnamon and cardamom bun I’ve had (it’s the only one). The almond croissant was surprisingly delicious. I thought it would maybe be a bit too crispy on top but it was perfect. It was crispy on top but soft in the middle. It had countless layers. The almond cream was incredibly tasty and it was the ideal amount. Now, I’ve had a few almond croissants and I think this may be the best I’ve had. The loaf was also great. The crust was hard but the centre was soft. It also has nice flavour. The only negatives I have was that the service was quite slow as the queue seemed to take a while to go down. They are obviously very busy and the staff seemed to working at full speed so perhaps they need a few more to help with the work load. The lady that served me was nice enough but didn’t give much chat. You could tell she just wanted to get to the next customer. I’ll defo like to revisit and try some of the other delights they have to offer.

The pastry display cabinet had an inviting array of tempting croissants & pastry type treats. We ordered a Cruffin & some sort of large almond square & 2 cappuchino's. Due to intolerance one coffee had to be oat milk (this was the only option). The Cruffin was very crusty but rather tasteless. The almond square had virtually no taste of almond at all. The oat milk cappuchino'was revolting. After a mix up with incorrect items being delivered to table & then the problem of trying to get a refund for the items I didn't order (up to 48 hours for a refund) I didn't feel like going back to the counter again. Would we recommend? Most definitely not! This is the 1st time I've ever left a review but felt moved to do so.

Nice enough bakery, but disabled toilet was out of order when I went - no signage to say that on entry, and no staff mentioned it, or I'd have gone elsewhere rather than having a coffee and pastry first... A bit late mentioning it's out of order when I'm heading to the loo... Unfortunately the other toilets were unsuitable, flimsy wall hung toilets with not much space which are absolutely no use to me. So unfortunately had to use the out of order one, luckily just needed a number 1. Could have easily been avoided, but not having a working disabled toilet and then not flagging it on entry is poor. I assume because I'm not in a wheelchair none of the staff thought to flag it. Sad, because the coffee and pastry was okay, but obviously my lasting impression is being mortified by not having a toilet I can use. Not sure I'll be back, not sure I could have handled it if a number 2 was needed. Still mortified about that 😔

This place is busy. The pastries are massive and my friends say they are very good. I don’t know about their food as they have nothing gluten free. I’ve been two or three times now with some people I am cycling with. Each time I’ve had the same experience. The staff are snobby and don’t make you feel welcome. The coffee is pretty good.

We really love Bostocks, even from its first beginnings in North Berwick so we were pleasantly surprised to visit the bakery in East Liniton. We mainly went for the delicious pastries, coffee and sausage rolls. Most of the food was up to our expectation but sadly, the sausage rolls did not. I bought two to take home because based upon past experience, this was an amazing sausage roll full of meat and thin pastry case. Today, the opposite was true, little meat and lots of flaky pastry. At £4.50+ for one sausage roll, we felt very let down as the meat content was about 80% less than we were used to seeing. £9 for two of these was poor value and the flavour was lacking too.

Had a tasty filled bagel and ordered a chai tea which came in the smallest cup imaginable - about 3 tablespoons of liquid - how about putting tea in mugs? After all most of the expense is the tea bag, not the hot water. And this is not a cheap cafe. Then went back to the shop to buy some cakes to take away. I was the only customer at the counter and I stood for several minutes without being acknowledged by the male member of staff who was serving - he went backward and forward 3 times to take various things to customer sitting at a table. He didn’t make eye contact or say I’ll be with you in a moment - to my mind basic customer care. So I left and I won’t be back. I’d also echo the comments about customer service at the North Berwick branch.

I had coffee and a cake here. The coffee was not what I’d expect from a business modelling itself as “up market”. It was weak and lacked flavour. The cake was acceptable but not memorable. And to round off, everything is served in disposable plates and cups- they create as much waste as a fast food joint. Unlikely to return.

Decided to stop here for mid-morning pastry, tea and coffee, but what a disappointing experience. The sit in cafe part of the business is clearly very secondary to the shop and take away. After paying extra to sit-in, were were presented with our pasty in a paper bag, and two of the smallest hot drinks we've ever been served anywhere - both in disposable cups. The latte was hard to distinguish from a cup of hot milk, it was so lacking in flavour, and there was so little water in the tea that it was stewed within a minute of contact with the tea-bag. Staff didn't seem interested in the sit-in customers and we didn't feel at all welcome.
