Great wetherspoon pub in Musselburgh and the cheapest in the whole UK Unlimited hit drinks at £1.04 is also great and food that is so cheap in cost it is packed on weekends mostly so get there early

Whilst I'm not really a fan of the company, The Macbeth Moir in Musselburgh was a welcome break for breakfast. The staff were rushed but very friendly. The food was good and exceptionally cheap. I don't know how they do that. Breakfast rolls and coffee for 5 people was £21. The coffee albeit from a machine which is never great, was ok and £1.04 for multiple refills. The place is starting to look a bit tired but is far better than it was 20 years ago, the last time I visited. If you want a decent breakfast and all you can drink coffee. It's great.

Having been to David Macbeth Moir a number of times this year, I have been disappointed with the staff. There have been a number of occasions when they have been of them chatting while several customers were waiting to be served while one of their colleagues was serving. This included members of the management staff. Having worked behind bars, I know that the customers should always take priority, and the management team should always promote this even if it means they have to serve.

Great food, great prices. We usually go on Friday evenings so it can be busy, but if there's 2 folk at a tabe for 4, they're likely to move to a table for 2 for us when asked politely.

Predictable style and familiar menu. Nothing to write home about but great value for money.

This used to be the place to meet when I lived in Wallyford a few years ago. Myself and some old friends have all moved about since , so we all thought it would be good to go there for old time's sake and catch up. It was awful. - Smell of dirty grease and bad language from the open kitchen. - Disinterested bar staff. - Loud lecherous old drunks - who could do with a good scrub - pestering us with their dirty talk. - Girls snorting drugs in the upstairs toilet - Younger drunks having heating arguments on the stairs After less than 30 minutes we decided we'd had enough and went along the Courtyard @ The Ship Inn, which was lovely. I don't know if this place is under different management now or what - but I can safely say that we will never be back.

It's a weatherspoons, The foods and pricing is consistent wherever you go! I had Fish and Chips and it was lovely, Only complaint was the Disability toilet was disgusting as it was being used to be everyone as the door wasn't closed and locked.

It was a quiet Thursday evening when we popped in for a drink. There were tables free however they were all either dirty or full of empty plates and glasses. There were staff available and we were served in good time. We cleared a table and sat down opposite the bar. I was dismayed to see no attempts to clear the tables despite there being at least 3 sometimes 4 staff members in the bar area . One member of staff was continually looking at her phone . There was no urgency to get the place looking presentable. The only person working around the bar area who seemed to have pace was a young male. Only when the lady on the phone left did the other staff seem to "up their game". It was a really disappointing visit with the exception of the good value for money.

A Wetherspoons with the usual quality. Because it's just outside of Edinburgh, it's much cheaper.

Visiting from the USA, we had a phenomenal bar tender, Russell. He gave us some good laughs and made us some great drinks. Thanks, Russell !

Good place to have a good breakfast or a beer at any time of the day. Good price, just needs a little more seasoning for dishes that are a little tasteless. I recommend

One of many Wetherspoon locations. A big plus for the interesting decor - it is a characteristic feature of this chain. Great idea! :) Unfortunately, the atmosphere is spoiled by dirty, sticky tables and seats. It's a pity that this is the case. I visited many Wetherspoon stores across the UK, some of them were clean and well-kept. (So ​​you can...) I come back to them with pleasure. Unfortunately, "The David MacBeth Moir" cannot currently be included among them. It's a pity because the food was tasty and fresh. Attractive prices. Nice service. I do not agree with people's opinions that since it is cheap here, we should take this state of affairs into account. Places where food is served should be clean and well-kept - regardless of the prices! That's my opinion. I hope that the owner will take care of the cleanliness, which will encourage many people to visit this place repeatedly. Maybe more people should be hired? Regards

Great service,very quick unfortunately the chicken wings very dry and not very hot i have had before and always pretty good but today very poor.The rest of the meals acceptable.

Well is a Wetherspoons init (a MacDonalds for adults). I love this place, I like the staff friendly n helpful, I like the other punters who I see there. I like the fact that you can think and chat without straining to hear cos theres no music being played. Like all spooneys there a decent menu. I had a chicken jafrezzi naan n poppadoms n a pint Guiness £10.04pence - bargain. It can get very busy be warned - great place though.

Went for breakfast which was fresh and hot, which can be a bit of a novelty in Spoons. Service was good and I was offered an extra sausage as I didn't want beans or tomato.

Served a 15 year old Dalwhinnie whisky in a warm, dirty, hiball Pepsi glass.

Very nice staff. As always good food at great prices £3.14 for a Scottish breakfast 😊. Very nice layout clean and well lit. The toilets are cleaned every hour. The coffee is refillable as much as you like.

Best pub in Musselburgh by far with a good range of well kept ales. Look no further if you are in the area and looking for a pint. It's also a classy building with a great atmosphere and includes a well kept beer garden.

Good wee place to catch up with mates without breaking the bank. I don't care much for JD Wetherspoons owners views but as long as the pints are cheap and the food is edible I'll keep coming back.

Quick refreshments break in Musselburgh took us into The David Macbeth Moir. Nice enough Wetherspoons pub serving all the usual classics associated with the chain. Enjoyed our visit. It was comfortable, friendly, clean very welcoming indeed. Recommended

Great place to go for a bite to eat and some drinks. It's always been very busy here whenever iv visited. I usually get the 3 small plates for £15 and have always had great food served to me. I'd recommend the venom pitcher or the bubblegin pitcher both my favourites

Went for so called beer festival 3 rubbish beers on tap same beer for 5 days since start of beer festival. Dirty tables and fouled mouth lager drinkers feel at home.

Standard Wetherspoons fare in a nice setting. On a warm day it's worth seeing if you can sit outside in the small garden area. I've been here several times and although it can get very busy, the staff are incredibly hardworking and pleasant. On the very rare occasion when something has been less than perfect, the staff sorted things out quickly and professionally.

Food sadly going down hill had fish and chips, grease for frying needs changed fish had bits of what had been fryed before attaching to it. Chips we're only just warm and of poor quality, wife had 5 bean chilli that was lukewarm in middle if only this was a one of but sadly has happened on 3 out of 4 last visits also lights require some bulbs could hardly read menu

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Me and my family came here for a meal. We ordered a gammon steak, a mixed grill and a chicken boneless basket. The mixed grill was missing a sausage and the chips were burnt on the outside and hard in the middle. The gammon steak was undercooked and the chips were also burnt on the outside and hard in the middle. The chicken bites were also undercooked and very squishy. Soon after arriving home my brother who had ate the chicken bites was feeling very poorly and then vomited. Please fix this guys!

Food is good value for the price. Staff are friendly and helpful. Atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired.

Yet another fabulous conversion from a former cinema into a Spoons. The decor is simply stunning, the efficient service is as you come to expect from this chain, and there was even a Cask ale I’d never tried before 👍🏻

Popped in as we were in Musselburgh for day. We chose to go to Wetherspoons and was not disappointed which I have been few years ago. Although short of staff they were extremely efficient and pleasant. Food was served at clean table too. Would definitely return. I noticed a bad review about drunks but this is a pub/restaurant so understandable. Staff an asset.

Want for breakfast. At best it was warn. The couple on the next table commented about their breakfast being cold, took it back to be reheated.

Been here a few times...fast service, friendly staff. We got breakfast here yesterday £20 for a large full breakfast, eggs benidict extra toast & two coffees which you can refill as much as you like. Friendly chap served us, good experience all round.

What a dive this place has become. Foul-mouthed drunks shouting & arguing, cokeheads snorting in the toilets, disabled toilets swimming in piss... I could go on. There's not much pubs left in Musselburgh but they are all better than this hole.

No comments very cheep drink to buy

My pal spilled his deink on the table. The lady behind the bar saw it watched and laughed and didn't offer any blue roll or paper towels. When i went over to ask for blue roll she was still laughing and spoke to me in a condescending manner. When she later came over to give us our drinks, my pal asked her is she say him spill the drink and said yeah she laughed about it. Not really good customer service, if that was me at my job I would have went over with blue roll instantly to help the customer.

Shocking experience. Came here for a couple of pints and some food after a long day at work. It Was fairly busy with the table I chose not yet cleared from its previous occupants. Dirty and full of dirty plates and glasses etc This was absolutely fine as they weee busy and perhaps hadn’t noticed the table needed cleared. So I ordered my drink to the table from the online app. When The barmaid arrived at my table with my drink i asked her if the table could get cleared please She said rather abruptly and like it was a nuisance to her, need to get someone else to do it as I’m serving drinks only, to which I replied ok can you get someone to do it please. She didn’t answer. I waited and waited very patiently and I’m now really hungry but not wanting to order food and eat from a dirty table amongst all the clutter. So I ordered another drink hoping the table would be cleared the next time a staff member served me my drink. Same barmaid came to the table with my drink this time not speaking at all and you guessed it just walked off leaving not clearing anything again. I proceeded to drink my 2nd drink still hopeful I was going to eat some food on a cleared, clean table but after 1 hour I gave up hope and left hungry, bemused and feeling rather perplexed about the whole experience. With this establishment being a Wetherspoons I’m not expecting 5 star service etc but surely a very minimum level of service and cleanliness can be expected and attained. ☹️

Curry night !!! Plate sat on the hotplate for 10 mins ,rice& nan was cold when we eventually got it I said it was cold & 10mins later got dried up rice stuck together! ! And the other person was finished !! Was offered something else but had already wait 40 mins !

It's a place we go to after our meetings and it's so close by. It's popular and always busy. The food is good and affordable and there is no feeling of being rushed!

Not my favourite. Curry was tasteless. Ordering gluten free was stigmatising and embarrassing. Plates werent cleared we put them on another table for our dessert to have space. Couldnt make our cocktail.

Hmmmm, hard one as this is maybe a favourite for other people. Not for us I'm afraid. Really dirty and dull. The food wasnt great at all.

This has to be the best pub in Musselburgh. Despite being quite large it's sometimes difficult to find a seat, especially at lunch time. Cheap, but decent food is a big part of why this place is successful.

Good price for the vegetarian breakfast. Bit dimly lit but staff helpful. Free coffee refills always a hit but try not to read the in house magazine. It is a mix of fan fiction and weighty populist articles.

Just a typical wetherspoons which we look out for on our journeys to ensure we are kept fed and watered at a reasonable price.

Poor range of real ales (why no Edinburgh Brewing Company ales as in The Booking Office, by Waverley Station?). Food middling.

Dear oh dear what has happened to this pub? We have been here many times and enjoyed great food and drink but on this occasion were shocked by the state of the place. Dishes were piled high on more than a few tables and we had to clear a table onto another one already creaking with soiled dishes and clean our table with spray we found lying on a seat and a serviette. We did stay for some food and drink but when approaching the bar to place our order and awaiting our turn to be served, the barmaid just randomly served the first person she spotted, obviously no queuing system is in force. We watched the progress of the clearing of the tables and after approximately 30 minutes the clearing began. Our food although hot was of mediocre quality. There did appear to be a shortage of staff but this should not affect customer experience or the cleanliness of the premises. We travelled a long way to visit this pub but will have to think twice about returning.

Don't know what's happened here since my review last October we had the mixed grill again, the steak had a huge chunk of gristle which I cut off then it bled onto the plate I had asked for it pink! My husbands was the same so sent them back, when the meals were returned the steak was the same one that I had cut which is fair enough but it, along with all the other meat had been almost cremated & was tough & dry & both meals were the same absolutely awful. We have been staying in the area for 3 weeks & haven't been back & I doubt we will next time we're here.

Was so disappointed after ordering 2 large Scottish breakfasts, 2 black pudding 2 eggs 1 Bacon 1 potato scone 2 toast ( was happy to see lurpak butter) on opening, it was water, couldn't butter toast, said to my husband I have no beans, there was, under the eggs, so I counted 11 beans... serious I know times are hard but we're was the hash brown the tomato the mushrooms and the haggis weatherspoons would always serve on a large Scottish breakfast?? Would definitely not recommend the Scottish large breakfast So disappointed

Hubby got jalfrezi chicken which was lovley I got sirloin steak with chips. Now I had a piece of steak with 18 chips as on my plate no sauce veg or decorstion I counted the chips my husbands portion would have filled my grandson never mind my husband .

Attended this pub twice with friends for food to hear kitchen staff and pub staff bad mouth us infront of customers for ordering food. Food cold and half orders missing. Place is a joke and managers do nothing

What a disgrace this place is. Almost every drink was unavailable (vodka, wine and Fanta!) One barmaid serving just allowing anyone to jump the queue. Poor girl was clearly untrained. Not her fault. Tried to order Fish (none) so asked for Scampi (none), then pizza (none). Terrible atmosphere in the place too. Just soulless and dirty. I remember when it first opened it was actually really nice - now it is a complete and utter dive! If I was you I’d rather get a fish supper and 2 cans and sit on the pavement outside. That would be much more enjoyable that entering the doors to Spoons in Fisherrow. Can honestly say we’ll never be back.

Couldn’t find anything closer so popped in here one Sunday morning for breakfast. Place looks very tired and in need of some over due upkeep. Food was at best ok but at the prices they charge can’t really complain. As I said we only popped in as very hungry and was convenient. As with all “spoons” definitely lower priced

It's the only place worth going for a pint of real ale in Musselburgh. Good prices and good turnover. It also has a local pub feel about it. Can get quite busy at weekends.

22/8/22 Monday late lunch We three middle aged guys from London were driving up to Edinburgh via Newcastle and wanted a stop off before hitting Edinburgh and the fringe/festival franticness. We found this JDW on the way and conveniently it had 90 minutes free parking...

A group of us meet every Friday morning at Wetherspoons Macbeth Moir and often stay for lunch. The staff are excellent, helpful and efficient, particularly Wendy who we have got to know well over the years. The food is reasonable for the price.
