Milkshake too liquidy not thick like normal milkshakes. Cornflake tart is chewy not good at all. Wouldn’t recommend. The only thing I’d eat again from here is the waffle but it was £8 for just biscoff sauce and crumbs. The cornflake cakes and all their other cakes are not fresh they have an expiry date on the container lid. Mine says the 25/10/2024 and I bought it today 08/10/2024 which is disgusting to think about.

Eugh, why can’t places just do basic things well?! The atmosphere and decor is absolutely spot on, got our drinks quickly, all fine, but then the sunder dinners arrived and although they looked beautiful it was the driest thing I’ve had in a long time. The beef was chewy and inedible, and I could’ve choked on the turkey it was bone dry. Roast potatoes were ok but not crispy at all. The veg was so weird, orange cheese on the cauliflower but it didn’t say on the menu anything about cheese so my husband couldn’t eat the veg as he doesn’t like cheese. Weird red tomato sauce on the sugar snaps and red cabbage. I would’ve expected carrots, broccoli maybe peas. Not enough gravy. My son had a burger which he couldn’t eat as it was soggy. He said the texture was like tuna. Vile. My niece had a kids chicken burger which she really didn’t like either. We didn’t complain as it was my dad’s birthday and we didn’t want to spoil the vibe. I also don’t think they gave us the meal deal price for a Sunday despite having 4 roasts and 3 desserts.

We did enjoy our stay here great rooms there were a couple of things I would suggest hand sanitizer of some sort in the bathroom and was a bit noisy with doors closing by themselves in the middle of the night making ours bang and boiler going off but an excellent stay apart from that. We where surprised at the bar closing early and shutting really early on the weekend but went elsewhere for food and drinks which was a shame as their facilities there are lovely especially the outside would definitely stay there again

Chips tasted of old burnt oil, everything was cold and we asked for no onion but got onion on everything also asked for a chicken doner in naan but they sent a mixed naan so majority was inedible and went to waste 👍

Terrible meal!… waited over an hour and then forgot most of the food. Understaffed and overall a very bad experience. Avoid!

We had a great meal here. Good for veggies and meat eaters, and the dog is welcome too. The loyalty cards work (for food and drink) and we received our first free pint. Great value and homemade food

Service was slow, considering it was only Friday when I visited. I also overheard two other customers enquire why their orders were taking so long. Isn't it strange how three completely separate parties thought the service was a little sluggish? Food was OK.

We went to the George for a well done steak and ended up with attitude from the chef who argued that they were well done and not pink. The steaks were very chewy and not well done at all. Could not believe the argumentative chef!. Did get our money back minus the drinks. Put my son of his steak entirely! Will not be going back!

Did not have food but a great pub

We called for lunch on a Tuesday, the pub was very quiet, in fact we waited 10 minutes until the landlord came into sight, but he was most apologetic for the wait, we both ordered the mixed grill, which was excellent, the steak and gammon were superb (quality meats & cooked to perfection) with 2 meaty sausages, a properly cooked egg ! Peas & mushrooms, the only thing was the fried chicken wings that unusually accompanied the mixed grill were overcooked and very salty, and it was served with frozen chips, the pub has recently been revamped and looked very good, we will be back, thank you

The Tavern in Denstone is a fabulous local pub, just down the road from Alton Towers. We are fortunate to live fairly close by and the Tavern is definitely our pub of choice, always guaranteed service with a smile. We never fail to have a good 'early doors' night out which almost always ends up with last orders! Special mention to Max, but all the staff are wonderful and can't recommend the Tavern enough. Pay a visit and enjoy a real country pub atmosphere! Best to leave your car at home 😉

We have orderd 2 pizzas one spicy no meat , second with ham , spicy one 10 out of 10 fantastic cheese and sweetcorn , ham pizza 2/10 ... not sure if ham was some halal lamb smelly sausage or non meat crap , expired or what went wrong - for sure never again ... check dates on our ham please
